The key is to adopt a "take it or leave it" attitude. It sounds like you're pretty much on the ball; if a chick you're in a relationship with just showed up with a pixie cut one day, that's a godzilla sized shit test to which the only feasible answer is NEXTing her. The obvious subtext there is "I didn't give a shit if this look is attractive to you or not, so I did it without your input." Obviously she's free to do that, but I'd never want to date a girl who has such a casual disregard for looking attractive to me. Dropped.

I would be amazed if she actually did it, but if she did, especially without consulting you, or in defiance of your wishes, then Dump.Her.Ass.Fast.

One of my plates has spent the last several months growing her hair longer (from just below shoulder blades down to her ass) because she (a) knows that I like it and (b) understands that hair is 50% of a woman's beauty.

Long hair demonstrates youth, beauty, fertility, good health and a good immune system and basically says, "Hey, studly guy over there! I'm the woman you want to pump your excellent genes into and breed b/c I have youth, beauty, fertility, good health and a good immune system!"

Don't believe me? Almost every girl I've ever known, in the months leading up to her wedding, grows out her hair. Why? Same reason she starts dieting and exercising. Because it's beautiful and she knows it.

When a woman cuts her hair short, she is deliberately and suddenly saying "I no longer care to look beautiful and feminine for my husband/LTR." It's the same thing she does when she starts dressing sloppily, stops wearing makeup, and gets fat, only it's more abrupt.

So basically she's asking "How important it is to you, that I still look (and by extension, act) feminine?"

When my girl gives me any 'i'm cutting my hair short' bullshit I just A&A, "Get my haircut. We'll both be manly man!".

She knows I like long hair. She likes her long hair. I know she wont cut it so any remarks about it are tests by default. I can ignore it, laugh at it, make it a joke, it doesn't matter. The only thing I can do to lose this test is to take it seriously. In order for me to even think about taking it seriously would be in a situation where she got some practical use out of cutting her hair short.

If that ever came up, I would be inclined to tell her I wouldn't like it, but I can't stop her from doing what she wants. Just like she couldn't stop me from perusing chicks with long hair.

Anyway, I think it's more a comfort test than a shit test, and the general idea behind a test like this is whether or not you would still stay with her, even if she deliberately decreased her SMV drastically.

For around 8 months my wife has said that she was going to cut her hair. "Oh baby I prefer you with long hair." and I got all kinds of shit tests from this and how "You won't let me get my hair cut." which I never refused her doing it at all. I am balding and decided to be bald. I mentioned it to her that I was going to shave my head. "No! You can't!" I did. She went that weekend and cut her hair.

I think they do it because they are comfortable. "It's easier..." which can be translated as. "I don't have to keep myself up because you're not going anywhere."

I am finally starting to get fit. I'm lifting, dieting and running. In 6 months I'm going to look very good at my age and she's going to have to up her game. I think that if I'd have been in shape 3 months ago she'd have never got it cut.

Short hair looks ridiculous but it's easy, low maintenance. You're not going anywhere so all that time arranging her long hair is wasted and could be spent playing candy crush instead.
