There are some days when I wake up and instantly know it's gonna feel like shit- I don't feel good, I don't want to go to work, I don't wanna hit the gym, I don't wanna talk to people, I don't want to do anything to improve myself, but I also don't crave any recreational activities (like video games or some shit).
Such days really throw me off of my routine and my game, because I have to force myself to communicate with people.
I believe such shitty days aren't uncommon, what's your remedy?
TheRedPillRipper 5y ago
Hola again u/Rav_the_slav!
The next day always starts the night before. Granted people socialise, party and whatever else however humans are creatures of habit. Success is found in our daily routine.
Mine starts obviously by getting 8 hours of sleep. I'm up and in the gym from 5:00-6:00 Monday-Friday and Saturdays plyo/iso/agility work depending on how the body's pulled through. To make this happen I aim to be in bed asleep by 21:00. Usually try and get it in by 20:30 because I enjoy some rec reading before bed.
The remedy for me isn't a one-off; it's routine.
Godspeed and good luck!

This is good. My main problem is finding and sticking to a good routine. That’ll be my goal this week
Justanotherredditt 5y ago
Ride out the shitty day and then break myself during my workout. Pass out like a champ. Wake up feeling better the next day. Rinse and repeat.
Jedi_Buzz_Zerker 5y ago
Inspiration found right there.
Cloak_and_Rose 5y ago
Basically this, but I find meditation does help with the general mindset. Some days are gonna be shitty though and that's fine

This thread is beautiful. Stay golden you heros

Build something out of wood! Anything- a box, a shitty chair, an award plaque that you give to your future self for most improved person of 2019. A man’s connection between his mind and his hands is a sacred thing.

Estabish a routine. Make good habits. Stay busy.
tunit50 5y ago
Just push through it workout angry and get lots of sleep. Had one recently and that's how I got passed it.

50 burpees, as fast as possible.
It sucks, but it’s like taking a pill... I always feel better after.
OfficerWade 5y ago
I’m probably going to sound like one of the guys when I say this but it’s the gym. I get crabby if I’m not there longer than two days.
Sin-Silver 5y ago
Discipline and routine. I go to bed the bight before on the dot, I wake up on the dot. I go to work, I stop and plan what I am doing that day, then limit all outside influences until I finish at 5:30. I then go home, eat, and either run, go tho the gym, go to an evening class, or take the evening off and relax. Rinse and repeat until you dog yourself out
antichrist_redpill 5y ago
Be a men and bear your suffering with dignity and stick to your routine, because what else can you do? (excluding times when something really shitty happens, then its ok to be sad and down for a few days)
Atheist_Utopia 5y ago
I never get these days anymore. The trick is to find enjoyment in what would be considered 'boring'. Intrinsic motivation as they call it.

Find a song, photo or dream vacation or goal you know you need to survive the day/week to get to. Song and photo obviously are not goals, but they get my ass to an immediately better mindset. I love my families old home on a lake in upstate ny and I keep one in my favorites folder on my phone and I think, get up, do work, crush goals, earn more and this summer getaway is one day closer to reality; is this so hard to accomplish? Answer is always, well... of course not.

Discipline. Be proactive.

Hitting God's Gift via a gravity bong right before sleep has been helping me with PTSD but it's just a temporary band-aid over a bleeding heart-wound.

Masturbate once or twice, usually clears the head and lets you not take things so seriously.

Walk in the woods, mother nature usely takes care of me.
mrmaldoror 5y ago
That is today for me, exercised, walked to the shops, cooked a nice dinner and now distracting myself with chores.
Jedi_Buzz_Zerker 5y ago
Seems more like you're distracting yourself with Reddit...

Yeah, I couldn't resist.

Exercise. Friends. Good hobbies. Visit a museum. Go skydiving. I try to stay busy. Sitting around thinking is not good.

Meditation then gym.
I have a morning routine I like to follow. I have a list of things I read, which focus my mind. It reminds me of things like the serenity prayer, remembering to focus only on today, changing what I can and letting of what I can't, focusing on my mission, frame and a couple of things to work on from the day before. These things are in dot points...
I wake up, have a protein shake, pre-workout, and something to eat...
Read through the dot points.
Do a guided mindfulness meditation.
Go to the gym and lift.
Having a routine helps me to get some control of myself, and centers me. I sometimes wake up feeling off, and my head running. The only thing that changes that, is action.
By the end of all this, I'm full, focused, and feeling great after the gym.
Discipline, brother. Or just run with feeling shit.

There was a POV on public TV the other night called "Minding the Gap (2019)" about young adults stuck in ruts primarily due to their dysfunctional upbringing/families. I was entranced and will try to buy a copy. It made me feel grateful. Well, it was about long-term ruts versus one or two bad funk days, but reminded me.
humzy 5y ago
wake up, then meditate for 20 min. then look at my goals list then put on some sick tunes
btrpb 5y ago
Force myself to the gym or yoga. Early in the day. Then I'll feel great, and if I wanna sit around all day watching Netflix I'll do it.
Pluglord 5y ago
I wouldn’t give this advice out to people. Particularly on this sub.
Vouch33r 5y ago
They're adults and can be responsible for themselves.
Pluglord 5y ago
Not everyone here are adults. And yes we’re all responsible for ourselves, that doesn’t mean we’re all making responsible decisions.
That_Deaf_Guy 5y ago
Okay but you're not the guardian of everyone on this sub. He didn't give out advice, he stated what he does. Everybody is responsible for their own actions; if you're not making responsible ones, that's on you.
Focus on yourself.
paul_ernst 5y ago
For me, that's mostly a signal that I just need more sleep. I always feel nihilistic when sleep deprived for a couple of days.
Secondly, it might originate out of a lack of variety in general. When it comes to working out, if it becomes dull, predictable etc. it's a good time to switch up routines, try out new machines, focus on other muscle groups, new exercises etc. This helps me a lot. Going in the gym and not knowing what I'll do but just see what I feel like doing. It's a lot more fun and more freedom of mind.
Lastly, it's cliche, but that feeling is caused by a lack of goals. Focus / short 'meditative' breaks helps me a lot in reminding myself of the bigger picture. If there isn't a bigger picture, than that might be a problem.
MetalWeather 5y ago
Force yourself to do something productive that you will want to ignore in that state of mind. Chores, a creative hobby, work out. Delayed gratification will get you out of the funk
fender1878 5y ago
I force myself to find something, anything positive to concentrate on.
The easiest fall back for me is just being thankful for waking up. Period.
So many people are stuck in awful situations. You see ridiculously motivated terminal cancer patients. That right there makes me feel like shit for even worrying about “having the sniffles,” “not getting enough sleep,” “being turned down by a girl,” “losing a plate,” etc.
People I work with, friends and family always comment on how positive I am and how that energy is contagious. Often times, I’m worried or upset about something on the inside but never drop my frame. I use faith, the gym and just general appreciation for life to stay motivated.
As a firefighter/paramedic, I see awful shit all the time. If I didn’t focus on the positive, it would eat me up.
It’s amazing how just acting positive or faking a smile leads to you being positive. Jordan Peterson talks about this with his lobster theory. Acting like you won the battle often times leads to you having enough dopamine and serotonin to actually win the battle.

For me, the thing that helps best is to start walking in the daylight, and eating healthy at home. Hit the sack early and try again tomorrow
For working out, beet juice, citrulline, beta-alanine, and a pot of coffee gets me motivated
bestsparkyalive 5y ago
Gym.... what else is there lol
