In europe they do thoroughly background checks. They basically offered me the job but there background check found a drunk and disorderly for 9 years ago that i didnt disclose on the interview. Now they want me to come in and meet them for some follow up questions. How do i attack this? Anyone?

Sounds like you have a good chance here.
You gotta own it, but also downplay it. NO VICTIM STATUS.
Explain what happened ("got too drunk, made too much noise"), say how you drank too much back then and now you have a very different life and it's not a problem any more.
Don't say "not that person anymore", noone with a brain believes it. Also don't say "I'm in a different situation now", that makes you look like you could revert any second.

I like the part about different life. I was going for different person.
How can i best answer the question about not informing them on the interview about it? I knew they would eventually find due to the position/employer. Im thinking something in line of anxiety, shame etc.

One way: "It was my understanding that there is a 6 year limitation on how long ago past indiscretions have to be declared." This is the case for some crimes in some countries, eg uk - pick a country you have reason to be familiar with, act confused.
Then add in a chuckle and: "And don't worry, there's nothing else bad in my past".
God no, not unless you can help it. You don't wanna look weak.
Or "I was not aware misdemeanours apply.... like a speeding ticket". Very slightly downplaying it by analogy, but without denying the seriousness of it.
Basically you pick a good reason why you were mistaken about the details, and blur the line. Admit you were wrong, but explain that it was a technical glitch. An administrative error. A minor glitch in understanding.
It's a fine line to walk.

How old were you then? You can always just blame it on “friends” and the cops just took in the whole bunch
beastin007 5y ago
Not proffesional.
saltyafrican 5y ago
You're not giving much info. How old were you back then? There are a lot of ways to spin it.

S-ituation; T-ask; A-ctions; R-esults
need help on how to implement it on this?
beastin007 5y ago
Yes! I need major help. Is this something i can google or do you have any more info about it?
Rosace_89 5y ago
S- drunk and disorderly 9 years ago
T- get my life in order, back on tracks
A- what i did to accomplish this
R- now i'm sober, more aware and mature, and this event didn't happened again in 9 years
expose this process during this post-interview, own your shit, show that you evolved (in movies, every main character goes from a point A to a point B, character wise)
and you're good
ofc, search it on the net to come well prepared
best of luck OP

Thanks for the tip. I really appreciate it.

Every "flaw" is an opportunity to prove just how goddamn good you are at solving problems and growing as an individual.
You were young, dumb, and identified the problem. You then analyzed the problem, found a solution, implemented it, and shit's been cash money ever since. Of course you can say this more concisely and in your own way, or say something entirely different. Depends on the mood and the interviewer.
There's probably a more Machiavellian way to do it, but I wouldn't know.

I was in a similar position as you before. I applied for an Economic Analyst position with my government and my interviewer saw I failed first year econ. He asked me why and I told him I was a sex-crazy drug-addicted 18 year old surrounded by other sex-crazy drug-addicted 18 year olds. He laughed at me and I never expected to hear back from them again but I got the job lol.

Tell him that you were young and you made a mistake. You recognized the mistake you made and you’ve takin precautions to ensure that it doesn’t happen again. So far- it’s been working.
