Don't ever take advice from anyone who tells you not to deadlift, squat, press or bench.
You should be doing all of these exercises often and different variations along with assistance work/abs
Random_throwaway_000 5y ago
Throw in rows with fat gripz, and weighted dips/chin-ups for arms.
liberty1127 5y ago
Yep, assistance work.
[deleted] 5y ago
“press or bench” — am I amiss or aren’t these the same thing.
WellShit23 5y ago
Press = Overhead Press
Bench = Bench Press

What is your opinion on TRX then? This is what my trainer has me doing currently.
liberty1127 5y ago
If you want to get strong and look great train with a barbell

Polishrifle 5y ago
As an older lifter, these are good starting points, but a simple way to overwork your joints.
It’s better to do high frequency training than for physique building. It’s much more joint sparring.
Throwaway-242424 5y ago
Those specific lifts, maybe not, but if you're not training the big 6 movements in some respect, you are not on an effective or efficient program for building overall size and strength.
[deleted] 5y ago
Do you even lift bro those are by far the most important exercises you should be doing. Arnold’s encyclopedia of modern day body building will set you right read it you’ll make gains .

I can’t take you seriously.... the squat, deadlift, and bench press, are the most fundamentally important exercises you should do there is no substitute to those exercises. There have been dozens of studies on how those specific exercises effect the human body. Every athlete from football to sprinting has included these exercises into there routines as these lifts tie into the central nervous system effecting the strength of all surrounding muscles proportional to the 3 main lifts.

Don't forget to put heavy ass chains around your neck and shoulders.
Like your boy here: https://i.imgur.com/vhQrTEX.jpg
liberty1127 5y ago
Yep. That would be considered assistance work
[deleted] 5y ago
It's the best way to build lats while hitting biceps and rear delts. The V taper is crucial for aesthetics. Would rank it above bench if you're already doing overhead press/dips
liberty1127 5y ago
I do powerlifting so I'm not as concerned with aesthetics although I am still in great shape. Peep the profile
[deleted] 5y ago
I feel u. Not in the big 3. Looking joocy comrade ????????

Remember that the Diet is much more important than lifting
[deleted] 5y ago
yeah chicks wont dig a muscley dude with a huge gut. trim down then build bricks back on that bod.
clausternn 5y ago
Trim down till where? 12% BF? 10%?
[deleted] 5y ago
find your BMI and shoot for a little below the middle of your BMI. there are tons of calculators online that can help you find that number. if you have trouble losing weight use Keto.
clausternn 5y ago
Isn't your body fat percentage much more accurate than BMI? Since BMI doesn't take into account how much of your weight comes from muscle vs fat.
I have been doing keto, although not as religiously as people on /r/keto, since I still have a cheat day and eat a lot of carbs once every one or two weeks. I agree with you though, it's great.
[deleted] 5y ago
I have had success with BMI

Starting Strength or Stronglifts 5x5.
But Whiiiiiiiisper, that's a strength program, not a hypertrophy program!
Exactly.
360_no_scope_upvote 5y ago
Both are pretty much shit past the 6 month mark but to each their own. You will build next to zero aesthetics with either of these and with SS you will look like a T-Rex. Amateur power lifters basically all look DYEL.

starting cycling tren

Most effective method for sure lol
damaged_goods420 5y ago

You can start of by going to the gym and later on you can think about shit like this because you don't even know if you have the mental fortitude to keep up a training program and diet plan , strictly.
gains_o_clock 5y ago
Exactly, OP sleep and food are important as hell + you didn't tell us what you look like right now. Skinny/fat etc.
omega_dawg93 5y ago
do basic movements that build functional strength... and avoid doing 100 reps of cable crosses and bicep curls while grunting and making faces in the mirror.
but honestly, there's no secret except working hard and staying consistent... very consistent. oh... and genetics.
supersonic-turtle 5y ago
Did a 5x5 for about 4 months and went from about 143lbs to around 160lbs. I now do isolation shit, my compound lifts probably aren't as good as they where but I'm definitely getting a bigger chest and arms lately. Also diet, if you want them abs you have to sacrifice bulk well not have to but it's easier. Me personally I just want to be strong as hell so I'm going to get back to compound but maybe not as intense as 5x5. Dat overhead press is a bitch on the cuffs.
lovs2spuge 5y ago
I don’t deadlift at all. It’s not pointless, but you can still make gains without doing it. Here’s my routine:
Monday - chest and tris Tuesday - legs and biceps Wednesday - shoulders and back Thursday - legs and biceps again Friday - chest and tris again
I do abs probably 3-4 days a week normally cable crunches and decline sit ups and AB roller. Cardio one day a week or both days of the weekend if you’re feeling ambitious.
I was skinny fat, followed this routine, and so far it has gotten me to where i am comfortable and can see myself progressing to in the future.
Auxfite 5y ago
6 pack? Was skinny fat too look better but those still fat Area in lower back
lovs2spuge 5y ago
This is the routine I’ve been follow for 5 months. I don’t have a “6 pack” but my abs are definitely showing thru. Will be glad to send photos if you don’t believe me.
Lower back isn’t where i want it to be but i just attribute this to the fact that that’s just how my body is designed. Some areas lose fat before others. It’s different for each person
360_no_scope_upvote 5y ago
The one that is based on consistency and discipline. I look fantastic, but when i tell people how to get there, they say the same thing, "oh that's too much I don't have the time"
N-suns 5 day + aesthetics accessories is a great and easy to follow routine. It's also not a very easy routine.
Hello_Peptides 5y ago
Literally any program on bodybuilding.com will work for you as a beginner (just make sure it involves heavy compound movements others have mentioned). Start it, eat clean, and learn as you go. It's much better than trying to figure out the "best" program before you even set your foot in the gym and get some strength and experience.

Flintblood 5y ago
How do you fake deadlift strength?
Fwiw, doing deadlifts, starting slow with good controlled form, did wonders for my back, spine and posture support. But if you have an injury that precludes it, then yeah, you might want to work around it.
[deleted]
cypherx1 5y ago
Dude, you don't know shit about bodybuilding.
Deadlifts and squats are two of the best movements for building mass and core strength.
Just because you can't or don't like doing them is your personal bias.
[deleted]
liberty1127 5y ago
Powerlifters deadlift and squat bro...unless you are doing bench or press only competitions. You should probably start deadlifting like right now.
Mescalean 5y ago
Let him be. These guys all end up the same place. Avoiding lifting actual weight then wondering why their pussy Arnold press or curl weight stagnates at 45’s. If OP is wise he will worry about getting strong and not so much “aesthetics” the aesthetics come with the strength gains. No chick wants go be with a guy who just looks strong.
