Just do bodyweight exercises in your room. Get a pullup bar from Amazon and don't tell them what it is. No one has the right to tell someone else whether or not they can be physically fit.
k_reaper_28 5y ago
Okay, thank you.
Aside from pullups, see there any specific exercises that can replace lifting?
UnbreakableFrame 5y ago
There isn't anything that can completely replace weight lifting, but there are alternatives to weight lifting that are still good practices for gaining muscle and strength. My recommendation is to check out some calisthenics videos on Youtube. That's what I would do if I found myself in a situation where I wasn't able to lift.
k_reaper_28 5y ago
Thanks.

Close grip pushups for tris along with dips and pushups. There this at home fly thing like a pushup you do on wood floors with socks on the hand. Actually pretty difficult
k_reaper_28 5y ago
Definitely, thanks.
Olram_Sacul 5y ago
google it, there are many excercises that can be done at home

Thanks.

Yeah, it's a control tactic- same reason they don't let me play sports of get my drivers liscence.
But how can I keep on rebelling when they took away my bench press and I'm reliant on them for rides?
dr_warlock 5y ago
No disrespect to you, but any parent scared of their kid becoming successful is a loser. This will never change. Move out when possible. A bit of financial struggle is better than being stuck with them.
k_reaper_28 5y ago
They want me to be succesful, just their very narrow definition of succesful: go to a good college, study stem, get a good job, get married. Nothing wrong with any of those, but they force me only into activities that colleges like, rather than anything fun.
dr_warlock 5y ago
I had to move back in with one of my parents once for week because something happened (still had a job and paid my bills). We were on really good terms before, but the second I crashed on the basement couch (just a suitcase of clothes), they started to attempt to control me. How I spoke (outside the house), giving me dumb busy work for no reason, lectures, and other shit. I didn't even talk much and kept to myself in the basement. I got out asap. I'd rather struggle financially than go through that shit. I'm a grown ass man that just had a time of need, that's disrespectful. I already have a boss at work, don't need another one after doing my 40.

You can't be on good terms with someone unless you're completely independent of them. It's in human nature to assert control just because they can, even when unnecessary. It's much better trying to make it out on your own than go through with plans you don't want under their frame. Even if you struggle. Trust me.
k_reaper_28 5y ago
You're entirely correct.
dr_warlock 5y ago
Edit: It's much better trying to make it out on your own than go through with plans you don't want under their frame. Even if you struggle a bit. Trust me.

True, thank you.

Your parents are fucking retarded. Go lift, they can't physically stop you. I don't see the problem.
k_reaper_28 5y ago
I mean, they took away my bench press, drive me to and from school (they prevented me from getting a liscence), and besides they won't let me get a job, so no money for a gym membership.
Throwaway-242424 5y ago
How?
k_reaper_28 5y ago
Just stopped me from taking lessons. Said they wouldn't pay for them.
Throwaway-242424 5y ago
Get a job. Pay yourself.
k_reaper_28 5y ago
They prevent me from getting a job too.
Throwaway-242424 5y ago
How?
k_reaper_28 5y ago
They drop me at school, they pick me up. They know my whole schedule, and take me straight home after clubs. They say I shouldn't have a job because I need to focus on studying.
Throwaway-242424 5y ago
You need to snap out of this mindset that you need parental permission to live your life.
k_reaper_28 5y ago
I mean, if I could, I would. But with them monitoring my every movement with tracking apps and shit, how can I?
JonathanMekerset 5y ago
Body weight
k_reaper_28 5y ago
What?
barn3r 5y ago
Get a job and get a membership yourself. If you don’t have a car, buy that then a gym membership
k_reaper_28 5y ago
Well, they prohibit me from having a job, so I'll have to do it in secret.
barn3r 5y ago
Are you serious? You living under Joseph Stalin’s roof? Get one anyway. They can’t legally kick you out.
k_reaper_28 5y ago
True, but they can make my life hell.
barn3r 5y ago
Already sounds like Hell. I’m glad my parents were encouraging of self improvement activities like lifting weights
k_reaper_28 5y ago
Yup.
drnaline 5y ago
This is hell. I heard that parents can force you to a certain direction with words, and you choose. But removing gym equipments from home, disaster. You should totally control the frame here, start exercising with bodyweight, free weights whatever. If you push one boundary which is healthy for you, they wont budge much next time about it. Be like water my friend
k_reaper_28 5y ago
Thanks bro.
[deleted] 5y ago
How old are you?
k_reaper_28 5y ago
16.
dr_warlock 5y ago
Backpacks, shovel, weight scale. Go find some dirt, it's free.
Don't show them, never talk about it.
k_reaper_28 5y ago
Digging is exercise? Actually?
dr_warlock 5y ago
Put the dirt in the backpacks and weigh them (dumbells). Get creative.
k_reaper_28 5y ago
Ok.
HurricaneHugues 5y ago
They can't stop you from doing bodyweight training. Do push ups, pull ups, handstand push ups, rows, squats, and deadlift ( pick up sonething heavy and put it down)
k_reaper_28 5y ago
16.
HurricaneHugues 5y ago
I edited my comment
k_reaper_28 5y ago
Ah, okay. Thanks bro.

The Bodyweightfitness subreddit is good help.
k_reaper_28 5y ago
Thanks.
Red-Lantern 5y ago
You're welcome. Be sure to read the sidebar on that sub too.
Your parents don't have your best interests at heart here it seems. That's unfortunate.
Good luck.
k_reaper_28 5y ago
For sure, thanks.

Throwaway-242424 5y ago
Stop expecting your parents to magically become reasonable when they clearly aren't. Go get your license and a job. Join one of your school's sports teams (wrestling is always a good option with generalised benefits, though don't feel like you can't pick another if it appeals to you or if you think it could pay off better come college). The fuck are they going to do? They're legally obligated to provide you with food and housing until you're 18.
k_reaper_28 5y ago
It is too late for sports (our school has a rule you have to join freshman year).
As for liscence, how? How do I get someone to teach me?
Lostitink 5y ago
You find a study linking success in school and career with being physically fit then present it to them in a power point. They probably won't go for it but I think they would respect the effort.
k_reaper_28 5y ago
Hmm. Whenever I try to show them evidence, they get legit angry at me. They literally say 'you'd rather trust some person you don't know over me?'
Lostitink 5y ago
Lol bro you’re parents are nuts as fuck. You could always tell them that you trust people you don’t know more than them every time you get on a plane. Tell them it’s a part of life. You’re going to have to break little threads slowly to get these parents to crack. They are hard fucking core man.
robatusf 5y ago
Keep lifting. This is a good chance to show your parents that you're growing up and starting to go your own way. Otherwise they won't respect you. Better to have this fight over something positive like exercise...
k_reaper_28 5y ago
I mean, they literally took away my weight set. How can I keep lifting?
SandyShoes08 5y ago
School gym? Gym membership?
Why do your parents think lifting is a waste of time? Are they super left wing freaks who think daddy government is the holy savior and nobody should even try to be independent and self reliant? Or are they concerned you aren't getting good grades or what?
k_reaper_28 5y ago
I asked about school gym, but only athletes can use it (I wanted to play sports, but they also prevented me from playing sports). As for gym membership, they won't me have a job to earn money.
They're typical asian parents. They see anything that doesn't look good on college applications as a waste of time. For example, I wanted to play basketball and baseball. But our school is bad at sports, so there was only a small chance of me being recruited, so they said I couldn't.
robatusf 5y ago
Lots of ways! If any of your friends have a weight set, go lift weights with them, they'll prob enjoy the company. Or just join a gym. Memberships are really cheap and most gyms don't require you to be 18....
k_reaper_28 5y ago
Ah, okay.
My parents never let me go out much, which meant a lot of people who could've been my friend ended up as a missed opportunity. My plan was to just work on myself until college.
As for a gym, I don't have any money, but I'll try to get a job secretly.
LarrySellerz 5y ago
do a fuckton of pushups
k_reaper_28 5y ago
Thanks, bro.
