Exactly. Where is the trade off? I'd much rather punch and punch out, then have time to concentrate on passive income streams, funded by my main job, that will pay off later.

You ran into a police station because your girl kicked off. What do you want them to do? Put the cuffs on her on your say so? You could probably say he was quite surprised by you walzing in. But yes, they would have probably asked you to chill out for a hour if the boot was on the other foot.
