Summary:
"You are only as good as your last haircut" - Fran Lebowitz
Body:
I cannot stress how important grooming is. You can be the best-dressed guy in the room but if you have bad breath, hair coming out of the back of your shirt, or chicken stuck in your teeth, you have lost the game before it even started.
1) Teeth
Brush twice a day. Brushing at night is more important than in the morning. You have less saliva in your mouth at night, which increases bacteria [hence the morning breath]. Brush twice a day and you'll be good. Don't forget to brush your tongue as well.
FLOSS! You MUST floss before going to bed. No exceptions! I have done more damage to my gums and teeth by not flossing than I have by smoking. You have to floss. It will clean out the stuff in between your teeth where your brush can't really get to. Don't forget that flossing is done between the teeth and UNDERNEATH the gums as well.
Get in the habit of gargling with a mouthwash as well. Mouthwash is NOT a substitute for flossing or brushing.
If you have insurance/can afford to make sure you are making visits to the dentist at least once, preferably twice a year and get your teeth checked out and cleaned. Try to stay away from whitening as it removes the enamel from your teeth. If you have been thinking about braces for a while but don't want the hassle, look into Invisalign. These are invisible braces that are made using 3d moulds of your jaw.
Chill on the candy, chocolates and pop/soda. These things are slowly rotting your teeth. Bacteria build up in your mouth, which slowly produce acid and cause tooth decay.
When we get a cut on our skin, our body quickly starts the regeneration process but our teeth do not have the ability to regenerate and once the damage has been done it is very difficult to go back. Prevention is better than cure.
If your gums are bleeding when you brush or are turning non-pink, this is a sign that shit is starting to fuck up. Go to a dentist and find out what's wrong. You could have early gingivitis.
Make sure you get adequate Vitamin C and Calcium in your diet. Vitamin C will help with gum health and Calcium with teeth.
I don't want your mouth looking like this when you are 40. Make small changes to your routine and you will have a million dollar smile in no time.
2) Skin
Sunblock before leaving the house [literally anything SPF30 and above is good enough]. Moisturise before going to bed. You don't need to spend hundreds of dollars buying the most expensive shit. Just get a whatever decent brand is available near you.
Don't use soap when washing your face; use an exfoliating face wash. You don't need to go all Patrick Bateman with your skin care routine, but including simple things like this will go a long way. As TRP says, 30 is when your SMV peaks, but it won't if your face has more wrinkles than a 70-year-old.
If you suffer from acne and are above the age of 20, look at products with Salicylic Acid such as Oxy - They will really help. If you are below 20, stop touching your face, and keep your skin clean, but only time will get rid of acne for you. If you are having acne sporadically, the issue might not be your hormones but actually your pillow covers and sheets. Wash them often or try out different fabrics. It may also be that you have hair on your face. Your hair should stay on your head not on your forehead. Please don't be an impatient fuck and start picking on your pimples either.
3) Eyes
The skin around your eyes is very sensitive. Get enough sleep to keep the area fresh. Get an eye cream that you will apply before your moisturiser before you go to bed. If you are really serious about your regime, get an ice eye mask and use that every day for 20 minutes.
4) Eyebrows
EyebrowS - we should have two of them. If you have a unibrow - get rid of it.
5) Nails
Fingernails should always be trimmed [Ask any lesbian why] same goes for toenails. They should not have any dirt in them either [take special care if you work with grease or dirt on a daily basis]. If you are serious about your regime, get a 4 sided nail buffer and use that every week to up your nail game.
Don't put off cutting your toenails off. You are going to be in un-needed pain when you bang your feet on the coffee table and that shit breaks off. Then you'll be in pain till it grows back out and you'll put off cutting it again.
If you need to ask whether you need a Mani/Pedi or not, you probably do.
6) Hair
Probably the first thing that people judge you on. Get a haircut that actually works for you. Stop browsing haircuts that models have - those haircuts are not maintainable.
The grass is always greener on the other side. If you are one of those guys who have curly hair and want straight hair or vice versa, you need to accept yourself and work with what you have got. Curly hair is hot. Straight hair is hot. A guy with curly hair whining how he wants straight hair is not.
Shampooing your hair 10 times a week can be harsh on your hair. Many suggest staying between 4-7 hair washes a week. If you notice your hair is getting really dry and feel out of life, try cutting back on how many times you are shampooing your hair.
Mousse/Gel/Wax/Sprays and other hair products do damage your hair. Try to limit their usage. Also, avoid the use of hair dryers on your hair. There is a trade-off here since most of the hairstyles in our current life do require blow-drying and products. sigh can't win them all.
Don't let your haircut get out of control. Make regular trips to the barber and stick with one so he can learn how you like your hair. We all know the feeling when the barber fucks up our hair. Don't let the extra hair grow on the back of your neck, trim it every weekend and keep your sideburns under control.
No man buns. I know you think you look like him, but you don't. Some guys honestly look like ballerinas. Stay with the clean and classic cuts. You are on your journey to be a powerful and respected man, not an unemployed bartender.
If you are balding, don't get a combover. I know it's hard but man up, own it and shave it all off.
If you really feel your hair looks really bad, I would advise getting some hair oils or serums to give vital nutrients to your scalp.
7) Body hair - Rapid Fire
Shoulder: Gone
Chest: Keep it trimmed and maintained to personal preference
Stomach: Trimmed
Arms and Legs: Personal Preference
Ass and Dick: Trimmed or Gone - Personal Preference really
8) Beards
Keep one if you can grow one. If it is patchy then don't grow it out. If you have a neckbeard then you need to reevaluate your life choices. You can sport three styles:
1) Full Beard
2) Various levels of Stubble
3) Clean shaven
That's it. No crazy styles. If you do grow a beard keep it maintained so you don't look like a hobo and apply beard oil daily. Get a regular $30 Phillips trimmer and use it regularly. Highly recommend Gibbs beard and tattoo oil if you are looking for one.
Don't go all dumbledore with your beard. Keep the lines clean but not so clean that they look fake.
9) Scent
Use a nice deodorant after you shower. Antiperspirants are good if you tend to sweat like crazy, but don't over do them since sweat is important for your body to stay cool. You'll feel insanely uncomfortable if it's hot af and your put on antiperspirant all over your torso.
Get a nice cologne and apply it sparingly. Too much cologne is never a good idea. Don't buy cheap cologne either.
10) Lips
Use a lip balm depending on how chap your lips get. Don't bite on them you are not Anastasia Steele.

Dear Craig,
I know you are overlooking us right now wherever you are. Smiling whenever you see one of us break our personal best in the gym. You have inadvertently touched the hearts of many of here and we want you to know that you are forever in our hearts and in our prayers.
Hope to deadlift with you on the other side brother.
Sincerely yours,

Some of the best colognes I've bought are Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue, Giorgio Armani Code (personal favourite) and Nautica Voyage. All of them are great light scents for spring and summer and one spray is all you need.

One's prime lasts anywhere between 30-50 depending on how a man takes care of himself. For women it's anywhere between 23-34 then the eggs stop roasting or at least have problems frying.

I want to add something about shaving here. I used electric shavers for a very long time, and only recently rediscovered doing it the 'old way'. That is, not with an electric shaver, and not with a wet razor and foam that comes out of a can. I use a badger hair brush with real shaving cream that you foam up, and it makes shaving a real pleasure.
For those in the UK, I really like the stuff from Taylor of Old Bond St (http://www.tayloroldbondst.co.uk/acatalog/Jermyn-Street-Collection-Shaving-Cream-Bowl-150g--J01014.html#SID=41) with one of the badger brushes from the same company. Or if you really want something special, there are fantastic shaving brushes made by Rod Neep (http://www.pensoftheforest.co.uk/shaving/shaving-brush.html). For a razor, I like the german-made blades supplied by Bearded Colonel (https://beardedcolonel.co.uk/?ast=0DJhb9). I'm thinking of a cut-throat razor, though.
Shaving is a sensual pleasure now, whereas for most of my life it has been a chore.
[deleted] 10y ago
Nice, I just went out and bought some new cologne, as well as some face wash products and eye cream after hitting the gym and eating a salmon/veggie/rice stir fry. I then went and read what I'm currently reading "The Iliad" for an hour outside on this beautiful day by a lake.
Pretty solid red pill day off from work.
chinawinsworlds 10y ago
Already doing all of this and more, except for the body hair part. For God's sake, don't shave your chest and stomach. Absolutely disgusting!
If there is any place on your body where your hair is too dense compared to a normal person, by all means, shave it. But don't remove all your natural hair, revel in your masculinity!

I am a guy who had horrible acne for his whole teenage life into early 20's.. Here are a few tips that helped me out..
-Ditch all of the pro-activ type products. All of the moisturizers, exfoliators, whatever they're called. Even the ones your dermatologist recommends to you. Most of them are complete horse shit and do nothing to your skin.
-Wash your face with an organic type of soap, like Dr. Bronners or an equivalent store brand.
-Stop eating junk food and drinking soda. I think this was about 95% of my acne problem. I had a horrible diet of junk food before moving out of my family's house because that's all they'd buy from the grocery store. As we all know it's impossible to quit that shit cold turkey if you come home from work starving and there's nothing to eat but processed junk. Eat real food and drink water.
-Stop consuming dairy. I don't know about anyone else here, but dairy makes me break out. In my late teens I had a lot of friends who turned me on to veganism. When I switched over to a vegan diet, I naturally got into way better shape and my skin cleared up. To this day I eat meat again (usually only organic unless I'm eating a meal prepared by someone else) but I don't consume dairy.
-In the summer time, go into the salt water of the ocean and sit in the sun. The sun practically cooks the bacteria out of your pores or something. I always noticed that my skin would clear up tremendously when I would go to the beach.
For the record, my skin was REALLY bad. My dermatologist tried to push acutane on me, but I refused it due to the symptoms of depression associated with it (which I was all ready dealing with). My back was so covered in zits and boils that I looked like a burn victim when I'd take my shirt off at the beach (this was around 22/23). Or some kind of giant staph infection. My face cleared up a lot after freshman year of high school, but when I adapted an overall healthy lifestyle of good diet, gym, no junk food, cleaning my body with organic shower products only (I just use dr. bronners or equivalent store brand soap) etc.. around 24 it all just went away seemingly overnight.
I still get the occasional zit on my face or chest but that's bound to happen no matter what.
Stop accepting blind obedience to doctors for non-life threatening issues like this. Most of them are mostly concerned with hustling product to keep big pharm happy. This isn't a conspiracy theory, I know two doctors who quit their practices because they got sick of the politics behind it.
Jaxx_Teller 10y ago
I had terrible acne when I was younger, and went on Accutance. It's definitely not for everyone, but it worked like a charm for me. I had no side effects. Not only did it clear up my skin, but my skin is glowing and looks very youthful and healthy. On top of that, I never really get pimples or zits, maybe a small one every couple months or so.
What you mentioned above about one's diet is essential, but if all else fails, Accutane can be a great help.
SolaireOfCaestora 10y ago
I am a surfer who used to have acne and its the salt water that got rid of the acne for me, for sure. I noticed if it was flat and i wasnt going in the water, acne would come right back, but if it was good and i was in the water for 12 hours or something thenthe acne would go right away. Also, i later took acutane, best fucking decision. Was worth, never had acne like i used to since

I'm not balding yet, but I buzz my head about once a year. It keeps you cool in summer, and in winter the hats feel even cozier on your scalp. People who know you will be unsure about it at first, but that's with any change. At the end of the day, buzz cuts/shaved heads are associated with aggression and masculinity. It's a solid choice for most any guy IMO.
Magnetosis 10y ago
Are you shaving with a razor or a pair of clippers? I'm 22 and have been balding for a while and have been using the closest setting on hair clippers since I was 16 or so (and before that between 10-14 I did it as well) but have been considering making the jump.
TelemachusRising 10y ago
Idk if you'll have it in your area but there's this stuff sold at Walgreens (NE US) called Cremo Cream and it is the illest shave cream ever. You use like, a dollop and it will cover your whole head, not in a soapy foam but a super slick, thin layer of cream. I have some crazy ass topography on my dome and have never cut myself with it. Costs about 7 bucks and lasts a loooong time. I do my face and head and other things and one tube lasts me like, a season.
relax-its-reddit 10y ago
I went through the same, been shaving my head for almost 15 years. Now when what I have left starts to grow out it feels nasty.

I have another problem..I am 33 and my hair is becoming grey...lot of it. Since I don't want to dye...I'll cut very short, maybe 0.5 or 1
StoleYourBucket 10y ago
That's only a problem to you. Women dig it.
recon_johnny 10y ago
Agreed. Older dude here. Grey is at the temples, but spreading over the last year.
You can't imagine how many women--I'm 50, so from a few years younger to me to as young as late 20s-early 30s--tell me I look distinguished. Sweetheart, let me show you what's really on my inside.
Also, what I've found is grey beards make you look old as fuck. Trim that shit. I can grow a full beard, but around the 4th day, the cheeks look bad. I have the goatee thing, but when I want stubble, I'll let the whole face grow out--but only for 2-3 days max. Then I use trimmer as OP states. Also, trim your neck. Difference between this and this. The second looks sharper to me. The first looks lazy. Unless you're trying to do this, and I think it looks like shit.
For a three day growth look
RudeJude92 10y ago
Trust me. It's way better when you get it done. Some advice: Let it grow out to the point that you can move it before hitting it with the razor again. Use conditioner instead of shaving cream. And feel everywhere in every direction when you're doing the final sweep.
Snortallthethings 10y ago
Thanks for the tips!
Should I let it grow out like that before every shave, or just the first couple of times?
RudeJude92 10y ago
Every time. Otherwise, you're gonna walk around with nasty razor burn.
[deleted] 10y ago
I do mine daily, and apply a small amount of coconut oil after I shave to deal with any razor burn that might pop up. The most important part is to ALWAYS shave with a sharp blade. I signed up for Dollar Shave Club and got the executive level razor, and use one cartridge per week. The hair that hasn't thinned out is still pretty thick, and these blades do a great job. I also recommend using a shave gel rather than cream or foam, something that isn't mentholated because some people's skin can react negatively to it. I buy a product called Head Slick, but anything comparable will work.
NietzscheExplosion 10y ago
Holy fuck, what an ordeal. You just convinced me to never shave my head.
[deleted] 10y ago
It's really not much of an ordeal at all. Takes maybe 10 minutes in the shower to get it all done.

I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine.
In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial masque which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine.
I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.
Later I will expound on my love of Huey Lewis and the News, with a smattering of Whitney Houston.

Also do not smoke. In 2016 it's absolutely retarded to smoke. Not cool anymore and you'll get cancer. An you're a fool played by compagnies who put weird chemicals in the cigarets to get you addicted. It's also a huge turn-off during sex
SterlingEastwood 10y ago
My fav is when I ask them why they smoke and they say "because it calms me down". But it's only because they got addicted, not to mention it is expensive and tastes like shit. It never made any sense to me. Cig = next

I disagree with some of the advice on body hair. I can see some trimming and maintenance being useful for someone that has odd patchy body hair but, if it's evenly distributed, just leave it alone. Being a naturally hairy man, I know if I followed the advice above, I'd end up looking terrible.
That said, agreed that regular trimming of the nose, ear and eyebrow hair is essential.
smfc 10y ago
this is true. i've got small amounts of shoulder and back hair that society expects me to wax. in reality, i'm not going to do anything because it's only gonna grow back faster and thicker. Then I have to spend more time grooming. No thanks.
UncleSniffy 10y ago
that's not what he meant lol
icecow 10y ago
It won't grow back faster or thicker, BUT the hair will all be the same length so it will appear thicker.
Horus_Krishna_2 10y ago
I just shave my shoulder hair once in a while when I'm shaving my face at the same time. pretty easy.
frerri 10y ago
Get rid of it. That is disgusting. Chest hair, hair on your stomach, armpit hair (as long as it doesn't stick out when your arms are closed.) lower back hair down to your ass I could see ok.
But should try to keep everything short, I trim everywhere except chest and legs. It looks good on me. It's preference mostly but back hair is universally ugly.

That bit about shaving off your pubes being an option – I read somewhere that women consider that to be unattractive and makes you look like a boy in puberty.
I know women's advice is looked down upon here, but still, I feel shaving pubes should be a big no-no for us men, especially when there are so many trimming machines.
aguy01 10y ago
Use a beard trimmer. Don't go bald. Nothing else to say.
aacid 10y ago
I tried to shave my pubes once, it was terrible...
it looked weird, it itched and reddened first few days.
shaving balls is fine, I don't think any woman likes pubic hair on her tongue while sucking your balls. for the rest of that area, just trim.
UnpluggedMan 10y ago
I shave my balls/taint, since there really is nothing like a shorwn scrotum. I leave the part on my pubic bone though, since I don't want to like like I'm 12.

There is a HUGE difference between a man bun and a bun. A man bun is generally a top knot showcased in the second photo. Now that looks fucking stupid and its there to feminize men because they are not suppose to wear a full grown bun due to out generalized society. Now a real bun is when you're able to pull all your hair back, tie it into a knot and make it look great with no hairs coming out from the sides. Women LOVE this. Its fucking manly to be pulling it off with confidence, none of that pussy shit "man bun"
RedditAdminsSuck_88 10y ago
Found the poster with a man bun
[deleted] 10y ago
I don't buy it. If they remade Fight Club, the man bun would be the comic relief. I can see Pitt and Norton on the bus, snickering at a man bun. "Is that what a man looks like?"
[deleted] 10y ago
I never got the hate for the man bun. Stop basing your life and perspective around a stupid movie and limiting beliefs/insecure ideas on what a man can and cannot do with his style/look. Who the fuck cares what some fictional character from a movie "would have thought" and calm your erection for them.
Any hair cut is pull-off able. It all depends on if it suits your style. Top knots look good on younger guys who have a hipsterish or yogi look to them. High and tight haircuts look great on cops, military, and other authoritative types. Multi colored mohawks look cool on punk rockers in studded vests and biker boots.
When people limit their style based on close minded beliefs on what men can wear (eg.. "pink shirts make you look gay" "skinny jeans are for fags") you wind up looking like some beta loser in dad jeans and white new balance sneakers.
Seriously people need to pull their head out of their ass with this stuff. Being a hater gets you nowhere. If you wanna dress like an overweight beta dad, go for it! But don't hate on people who can rock a certain look.
Horus_Krishna_2 10y ago
maybe not cuz brad pitt had a man bun in his own real life, he might veto that line of dialogue.
Purecorrupt 10y ago
One of the factors I started lifting is that skinny bald guys look wierd to me.
I'm muscular enough now for when my hair starts to disappear I'll be alright.
Anyone got tips on dry hair/coarse hair? Hair's never really felt that nice. (Black/Asian)
Marsupian 10y ago
Serious question bois. Anyone else never use shampoo, soap or deodorant?
Im doing this for more than a year now. No comments from an LTR, family, collegues, patients, etc. about stinking or looking unclean. I bike commute, and am generally active and sweat pretty quickly. I do tend to shower twice a day, one cold shower in the morning and a shower after training. Skin and hair quality have both improved.
Btw. I do wash my hands obviously.
aguy01 10y ago
I can't get away with no deodorant but no shampoo or face washing has been working for me for years.
jtzabor 10y ago
I started using AOmist and mostly stopped using them for a while. then I ran out.

Project_Thor 10y ago
I don't wash my hands. (As in no Soap) We've been lied to by corporations that want a problem that doesn't exist. The best product is a Consumable one.
[deleted] 10y ago
Same here, at it since 2 years. I quit because my hair started falling out, thought it came from shampoo, but genetics.
I occasionally use a nice soap, but most of the time, I just wash without anything. Makes absolutely no difference.
The only thing I apply daily is a deodorant stick, since my armpits smell like hell.
Project_Thor 10y ago
Sometimes I will use coconut oil and baking soda to remove any stink, that way you aren't putting on chemicals that will lower your T.
icecow 10y ago
Beware. There's something called 'accomodation' that means you get used to your own smells or smells that are always around you. If you stink you won't know it.
Marsupian 10y ago
By now someone should have mentioned it. Did the LTR thing for a couple of months, Im a pretty physical guy, often close to good male friends who call eachother out, stay with family from time to time, etc.
Either someone should have called me out by now or Im scarier than I thought.
icecow 10y ago
When I was 19 or so I used to work a pizza delivery job and I started wearing some loafer like shoes without socks, which I thought was cool but probably wasn't. I must have gone 6 months wearing those things while they smelt like shit. They got so stinky I'd get a whiff of them once in awhile when I put them on, but the smell seemed to 'go away'. I'd it away. I wasn't trying to rationalize. It was more of a clueless person's logic. I'd think things like, "I've got to be careful to make sure these shoes get completely dry through the night or I'm going to have a problem". So clueless. I was in a hurry a lot as a pizza delivery guy so if I got a whiff I'd still have to finish what I was doing, then I would consciencely smell for stinch 5 min later to 'check'. Nope, don't smell anything. I think at the end I actually thought some things like, "I know I smelled something 5 min ago, but don't now. Is my body chemistry of my feet neutralizing the smell after I am wearing them? I got to figure this out before someone else does if they smell". So clueless. At that point I started to figure out they stank. And at that point my manager got slightly mad at me for some little other thing, then added, "And those shoes. They've been skinking for 6 months!" in front of my friend and another co-worker. I looked at my friend thinking "why didn't you tell me?" Then I realized how full retard I was ignoring the signs, and even for assuming my friend would tell me. I think he thought it was so obvious he thought I just didn't give a fuck. Lucky for me there wasn't much fallout. I just got some different shoes, and successfully put that powder keg of social destruction behind me. Jeez this is hard to write out. That's what I get for trying out the no-socks thing. I was doomed from the beginning.
Lesson learned from making an ass out of myself: Don't rely on ANYONE about personal odors because they assume you can smell it and know better, not even your friends. That was the lesson for me anyway.
SterlingEastwood 10y ago
Tough pill to swallow, but I just have to. Currently my facial hair would be around Keanu Reeves levels of patchy if I was about to grow it out. Don't know if it's gonna get better (I'm still young), but I guess I'm gonna find out in a few years.
Thewelshpill 10y ago
i think this point should be subject to how badly you want a beard. it took a year for mine to fill in a respectable amount and stop looking like shia labeouf with bum fluff, but i just told myself the worse the beard, the more of a man it takes to wear it
and i stand by that.
Horus_Krishna_2 10y ago
on a side note I noticed in the sia video he did, Shia's beard is looking great. Maybe a bit too huge, tho that's a good problem to have, easily fixable.
juiceperks 10y ago
If it makes you feel better I'm about to turn 30 and my beard is only now finally filling out. It was solid in mustache chin since I was 18 but patchy AF until now.
pizza_dicey 10y ago
I grew mine out for 2 months, turns out the area around the corners of my mouth remain bare. Clean shaven it is, then.
aguy01 10y ago
Just keep it short, like a 3 or 4 on the trimmer. You don't need a solid beard to have sexy facial hair to girls, that's horseshit.
pizza_dicey 10y ago
Hmm. My beard is red, mustache strawberry blond. I have seen few men pull that off, and the ones who do usually have full beards.
Though, I might give it another go next November. (Just as an excuse to shave less for a month.)
[deleted] 10y ago
If you can stomach it, let it grow. The hair on the middle of my cheeks comes in a little slower the rest of my face (including the top of my cheeks and my jaw line)(there is hair there, just blind blonde and hard to see). If can stomach it for a couple weeks, though, the darker hair takes over (in length and number) and it looks good. I just have to plan on having a couple weeks where I have nothing big going on, not going to go on a date, etc.
Not promising yours will do the same, but if you can, give it a few weeks.
Horus_Krishna_2 10y ago
yeah my beard is patchy between moustache and beard part, doesn't really come in on the sides of my mouth. But I think it doesn't really show much once the hair is of a decent length, like the length of hair when shaved with a number 2 shaver.
Sergnb 10y ago
23 here, face hair more barren than an field in chernobyl, only grow patchy spots and a shitty goatee. I've been wanting to have a beard since I was like 12. I always thought they make every guy instantly look better, but at this point it's a lost battle. Having a discount rice paddy growing in your face is not giving you any points. Accept your genes and get rid of it
rundownweather 10y ago
This hits so close to home. I've always wanted to have a full beard but I can only manage a goatee. It doesnt look hideous but I wish i was full lumberjack. Same goes for long hair. As a teenager i tried multiple times to grow my hair out, but that only made me look like Coconut Head. Eventually, i gave up.
Life is suffering.
Horus_Krishna_2 10y ago
I was able to grow a beard starting at age 19. I made the mistake that the guy mentions here where I let it get long like Dumbledore. And like he says don't grow your hair long, don't put it in a man bun . . . I did that too. :( Lessons slowly being learned.

If you have no idea what to get for cologne try Chrome by Azzaro.
I've had tons of men and women come up to me to ask what I'm wearing. That has never happened with other colognes.
__ZEAL__ 10y ago
Givenchy Play Daytime, Givenchy Gentleman Only, Armani Code, Gucci Guilty, Fendi Fan Di Fendi, Versace Eros.
All fantastic colognes. Play, Eros, and the Fendi get the most attention for me, in that order.

Good advice, unfortunately I am terrible at grooming myself and wearing nice clothes. Let alone shaving my back. I recently fell into bad times of low motivation and minor depression, so the gym is my focus for now. When I get a bit more fit I will get more into some of the advice in your post.
[deleted] 10y ago
Gym takes a while to see results. Maybe some "quick fixes" like a back wax would improve your confidence and help start a positive feedback loop. Things to think about
zsut 10y ago
Yeah, You are probably right about that although it seems a bit to me as putting lipstick on a pig, hehe. I just came back from 45 min. cardio and it does a lot of good for my mental state which is very important to me at this time. I think I have to hit the gym hard this time and stay focused. Keeping a steady weekly routine is the tough part for me. I get bored, fall out of shape, pull myself up again and the cycle continues.
aguy01 10y ago
45 min of solid cardiovascular is not just boring, its also ineffective from an aesthetics point of view. Look into hiit training to replace steady state cardio.

Older guy here. 50. I've spent a shit ton outside, and it is starting to catch up with me. Not the leathery skin shit, but those age spots? Fuck yes. All over my hands, and now are starting on my face--first time I said "what the fuck is that?". Gratefully, I have facial hair to help. Hands, arms, Cheeks, nose, forehead are places you should use sunblock. I have a two friends that had skin cancer, and that, motherfucker...is serious shit.
So, if you only stay indoors, then sure. But if you go tan or stay outside for any extended period of time, yes...protect yourself.
I think OP is giving a reminder for those who otherwise wouldn't consider it.

The sun is the #1 (80%) cause of damage for your skin.
If you wear sunscreen every day on your face, when you're 50, you'll look 30.
Up to you whether or not you want listen.

Sunblock only stops the healthy rays. The cancer causing ones penetrate it just fine. Sunblock can help you avoid a burn after a long day in the sun but that's it.

Skin cancer is also a bad time. The consensus among dermatologists is that you should rely on dietary and supplement sources for vitamin D, as getting it the natural way also unavoidably increases your skin cancer risk.
aguy01 10y ago
The consensus from doctors paid by sun screen companies maybe.
SW9876 10y ago
Sun screen before leaving the house is a great way to be pale as fuck and get 0 vitamin D a day
[deleted] 10y ago
If you live in the Southwest and if you don't want to look like a used leather boot it's absolutely essential. I mostly just use it on my face to have clearer skin and only if I'm outside for a prolonged period of time will I put it all over
ksnyder1 10y ago
And give yourself skin cancer. The rest of the shitty advice depends on the person but no one should put sunblock on every day.

Great guide. My only correction would be about the hair. 4 to 7 times a week is WAY too much. Especially with shampoo every time. 1 or 2 times a week is the top you should go for, less can be even better.
I know, you're gonna tell me: "But my hair is gonna get all greasy the day after my shampoo". Yeap, that's because you are washing them so much. Slowly decrease the number of time you are washing them, and they will soon get a nice, strong look, and no grease, even after 1 week without shampoo.
You can trust me, or not, but all I can say is, I'm a guy with long hair, longer than most women, and I make 'em all jealous with my princess hair, even more so when telling them I don't use anything in particular or almost don't wash them.

How can I avoid having cuticles like these?
Mine look like that right now, and it makes me pretty self-conscious. Nobody else has them looking like that.
CanadianRedMaple 10y ago
I work in construction and my hands get beaten up pretty much ever day. Just something I've dealt with. I use a good non greasy moisturizer for my hands daily but cuticles still are like that. As long as you take care of your nails, you just have to deal with it.
bluespringsbeer 10y ago
Use cuticle oil. You brush a little on your cuticle, then rub it in. You can find it in a bottle that looks like nail polish, and is in the nail polish section.
[deleted] 10y ago
Drink a gallon of water a day. Mine weren't bad but on one particular finger it was always torn. I also live in the desert so it's naturally dry here. As soon as I increased my water intake they disappeared.
icecow 10y ago
I think you can push them back with a cuticle stick. Not sure so google or ask in a salon type store.
FrozenMountain 10y ago
Moisturize them, don't pick at them, and drink enough water.

Another quality post op. I would add coconut oil as a cure all. Swish a teaspoon in your mouth for 20 minutes a day. Gets rid of all the nasty shit in your mouth, whitens your teeth naturally, and makes super healthy gums. Use it on your body everyday, all over and your skin will be impeccable.
This may not work for everyone but I never wash my hair, just rinse it in the shower every morning and let the natural oils do their job. I had dry curly hair and not washing solved the frizzy problem.
Proof? Check out homeless guys, they have the best hair and never wash it.
Casanova-Quinn 10y ago
Salicylic Acid is fairly useless in my opinion. It just dries out your skin. It's never been that effective for me.
Acne creams/washes with Benzoyl Peroxide work much better.
UnpluggedMan 10y ago
It's a good mild chemical exfoliant. For inflammatory acne, it's essentially useless, since you need to treat the infection/inflammation for that, so Benzoyl Peroxide is better if you're going OTC (protip, don't go over 2.5% on BP, as it does nothing extra but dries you out more).
However, SA is great for preventing ingrown hairs after shaving, as it will keep your pores clear as the hairs grow out. I use a 2% SA lotion supposedly for acne after every shave. It has taken care of my ingrown hair problem.
Horus_Krishna_2 10y ago

Great guide to be a woman / metro sexual man. Way overkill for a normal dude. You are a consumer slave buying tons of shit and spending energy on shot you don't need. Sunblock every time you go outside? Lip balm? How do you think people got along before all this consumerist shit came about 60 years ago? Eat a healthy diet of whole foods, get sun without covering yourself in chemicals, stop washing your hair and face with chemicals. Buy a water filter for your shower, brush your teeth once in a while and if your diet is truly healthy then you'll be much better off than the people exposing themselves to unnatural chemicals every day.

Another great tip for acne is to put a towel over your pillow each night and remove it in the morning. It will really help with acne. That helped me more than anything.

Fucked up bushy eyebrows can have a large negative effect on an otherwise aesthetic face, and thus your overall SMV. I learned this the hard way. Taking care of that shit recent has increased the IOI's I'm getting noticeably. Also, if you look closely at well groomed men (actors, models especially), you'll notice that they do clean that shit up,. Not as much as club-rat women, obviously, but enough to make sure its tamed. I'd recommend tweezing/waxing/trimming a bit if your brows are very large/bushy/irregularly shaped. Even if you don't have a unibrow.
Horus_Krishna_2 10y ago
yeah my eye brows would get as long as my regular hair can if I never trimmed them, so I can't see. gotta trim regularly, pretty easy to do. I just pluck the unibrow.

Does anyone here get their eyebrows done? I'm not an urgent case (no unibrow) but have thought about getting a small trim
TheBloodEagleX 10y ago
Big bushy eyebrows are in / trendy now. Even girls have them, some exaggerated. I've always had thick eyebrows though. Girls constantly compliment them and say they wish there's were like mine. It's probably not an obvious trend unless in your 20s. So don't go for clean, perfection. Just get rid of the unibrow.
Horus_Krishna_2 10y ago
I never knew about doing this and "edging" your hair until I hung out with a Puerto rican guy, we went to his barber and he did that. hair cut included fixing up eye brows. At first I thought this was too metrosexual but then took red pill and realized a guy has to make his appearance great.
JoRocKStaR 10y ago
I get my eyebrows threaded about every 2months. You'll feel cleaner and you'll look cleaner. And.... girls WILL notice and even compliment you.
Nothing too drastic just clean up the arches and you'll look better.
[deleted] 10y ago
I have been doing eyebrow threading as well, but I do it a bit more often than you do. Nothing crazy, just makes my eyebrows look neater. I was hesitant to try it at first because some people think of it as feminine, but it's definitely worth it and really makes your eyebrows look good.
SolaireOfCaestora 10y ago

Individual variation between men will mean an unlimited amount of variation in a man's routine. If you have to care for it every day or every 3 days its the all same deal. Project_Thor 10y ago
Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda, It shouldn't persist.
Donald_Fuck 10y ago
If you're going to do Project_Thor's method, I have heard of it before but do a little research first. I find that when I have dandruff, my scalp isn't the only thing that's dried out. My face and some of my body is too. It currently is dandruffy because it's winter here atm and the air is dry as fuck. It's helping for me to stimulate the scalp under the shower and to make the shower only warm not hot. It's still not perfect though.
The_DogeWhisperer 10y ago
Do you use styling gel/wax in your hair? I feel like I have to wash that out every time.
Donald_Fuck 10y ago
Never. My hair holds itself together after I dry it.
SW9876 10y ago
If I don't wash my hair daily it's a greasy disgusting mess. Also it always sticks up and looks crazy in the morning from sleeping.
Casanova-Quinn 10y ago
It's too greasy because you wash it daily (with shampoo). Your hair is overcompensating. Also you can still wash your hair everyday (no bedhead), just don't use shampoo.
Donald_Fuck 10y ago
This. Also, stimulate the scalp under the water with your fingers firmly , OR get a wide tooth comb and go through it like me.
[deleted] 10y ago
Same, I don't wash my hair with anything but water. Eventually it gets a bit greasy after maybe like a month and ill just throw in a tiny bit of regular soap real quick to just rinse out some oil. Shampoo even just one time turns my hair into a lifeless dry pile of hay desperate for some hydration. I also dont use any scrubbing shower items as I believe that's just bad for your skin, i'm not caked with dirt... just soap in hand and get out. Every man varies though, I think I'm lucky to have been blessed with nice skin and hair. Sunscreen everyday sounds terrible for your skin... wear long sleeves and a hat if you're going to be in the sun a lot.
[deleted] 10y ago
This comment made me realise how dry my hair feels, screw you. /s

I only wash my hair if it starts to smell, or if its getting cut. Never had a complaint. It sucks for about the first 2 or 3 days, then it starts to get nice
Donald_Fuck 10y ago
I sit in the chair and at the end of the cut he'll ask me if I want wax. I tell him "nah man, I don't use products in my hair hey." The assumption is always that I must still shampoo right? Wrong.
CounterTony 10y ago
I still had dandruff after going nopoo, even with baking soda and apple cider vinegar. Sucks because showering is faster without needing to shampoo, and saves you a couple bucks.
Donald_Fuck 10y ago
Yeah I get a bit too. You in Winter atm?
CounterTony 10y ago
Summer now. But it was actually six months ago in winter when it was pointed out me.
Donald_Fuck 10y ago
Tends to be worse in winter because the air is drier. It's probably not as bad as you think but let me know if you figure out some better prevention. I get it a bit now, I've never tried the apple vinegar and bicarb combo. I used to get dandruff when I used shampoo/conditioner anyway, often worse.
JeremyHall 10y ago
Explain the addicted thing? I think mine might be.
[deleted] 10y ago
Your scalp and hair have evolved from thousands of years of never being washed or conditioned ever. When you wash it every day, it causes your body to cease production of natural oils and moisturizers that it produces on its own. I'm with the guy in the comment below - you want to wash it twice a week (that's my sweet spot) - that gives it 3-4 days to keep the natural shit up and still get the nasty shit out.
in_monk_mode 10y ago
With this logic you could say your body evolved to not wash your genitals or armpits
JeremyHall 10y ago
I go at it twice a week already.
[deleted] 10y ago
Strip away all the natural oils with harsh chemicals in shampoo.
Replace those lost natural oils with conditioner, which also contains unnecessary chemicals.
Using just water allows you to remove dirt/random shit, and the buildup of excess oil.
When your scalp is able to self-regulate oil production, it will find equilibrium, and your hair will look and feel way better than ever before.
I do the same with soap in the shower now. Only ever use it on armpits, balls, and asshole. The rest really doesn't need it. Sweat from arms and chest or whatever doesn't really stink, so just rinsing it off is plenty. Otherwise you dry out your skin and have to apply moisturizer, a very unnecessary cycle, which also involves a bunch of random chemicals.
If you still need to moisturize, a very thin application of raw organic coconut oil is great. Like the type you cook with. I use it in my hair in place of product as well. Bonus is it naturally smells good.
jtzabor 10y ago
You should check out AOMist. It puts a good bacteria back on your skin in those areas your washing that stops you from smelling bad. Kinda over simplifying it but thats the basics.

aguy01 10y ago
Do some research you tool, the chemicals in deodorants, shampoos, sunblocks, it's all synthetic shit that gets in your bloodstream and acts as an estrogen. They are called xenoestrogens and it's the reason adult dudes have tits. Not to mention the heavy metals and irritants.

Mind passing a link for me to read about. Pretty curious about coconut oil, never tried it.
[deleted] 10y ago
http://wellnessmama.com/5734/101-uses-for-coconut-oil/
something else I use it for is Oil Pulling. A tablespoon swished around in your mouth for about 20 minutes can help pull toxins from your gums and has helped me fight off the gingivitis I dealt with for years. You still need to maintain a twice a day regiment of oral care (floss, brush, mouthwash). Coconut oil can be used to make your own toothpaste too! Free of harsh chemicals that are said to be contributing factors to testosterone depletion.
Atuli 10y ago
I looked into oil pulling for a bit but apparently it doesn't really do much, have you had noticeable benefits from it?
[deleted] 10y ago
No more gingivitis, a slightly whiter smile, and fresher breath. I am sure the same results can be achieved by regular oral hygiene, but I feel I enhanced the process by adding oil pulling twice a week.
Project_Thor 10y ago
