Summary Video describes why guys today should just "be a man" and get married already, citing financial gains as an incentive.
Body Admittedly not a whole lot new to see here, I think most of us have gotten the memo by now: marriage 2.0 = not a good deal for men.
What's interesting to me is the main argument being made is that your financial well being stands to improve from marriage 2.0! This of course is only true if you don't end up divorced and paying alimony/child support... but statistics on those topics were omitted.
Ignoring that colossal caveat, let's look at the main point stated in the video.
Married men make more money.
Of course this is what we should expect, there's more mouths to feed, more shopping sprees to fund.
However what the video doesn't mention is the amount of disposable or un-budgeted income. If I'm making 100k a year as opposed to 80k, but my expenses shoot up from 60% of my income to 80% my purchasing power actually decreased.
There's plenty more that could be picked at, but I don't want to keep beating a dead horse for too much longer.
All in all the video did put a smile on my face. It has more dislikes and the comments are showing that men are slowly waking up to the realities of marriage nowadays.
Lessons Learned The media and society want you to get married. They will shame you, tell you it's in your best interest, and pretend that we don't have divorce rates coupled with alimony/child support laws that will make your head spin.

[This is a pretty entertaining rebuttal video] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXc1GCPErpI)
Careful though, it's MGTOW content!
PheromoneVoid 10y ago
PragerU generally puts out RP-content when it comes to social commentary.
At the same time, I'm not surprised that they screwed this one up. Guys, they're a socially conservative crew whose ideologies resemble those of the good ol' 50s-60s Billy Beta Patriarchy Era.
While "social conservatism" and RP have their shared points, there is much that separates them.
DforDeadpool 10y ago
Feminism is just women's sexual strategy.
How it's so complicated? Of course they won't say "Umm guys, don't enable golddiggers, landwhales, divorce-rapists, betalockers, adulterers and town bikes, but get married it's cool!" Because they are the said golddiggers, landwhales, divorce-rapists, betalockers, adulterers and town bikes.

Married men make more money... and women account for 2/3s or more of all money spent shopping. Coincidence? I think not.
Snufek 10y ago
Holy shit, for those who can really understand what he is saying this video is like a commercial on why not to get married!
Seriously? Seriously?! Who the heck would think those are adventages?

Bielzabutt 10y ago
You know why married men work more hours? Because they don't want to go home to their miserable family lives. Work is their only viable excuse to be away from all the crap.
Swallowed_the_pill 10y ago
He also talked about using less time with friends like something positive and that the motivation you get from your spouse, because she is directly affected by your income, as something positive. No way I want to work harder and earn more for the sake of some gold digger wife who wants a bigger house.
I will gladly work more hours and earn more money to buy a new house, but I will not do it because some other person wants to be my paracite. Everything he said about marriage just wanted me to get married even less.

Yep. Most of us know at least one guy who does this.

[deleted] 10y ago
This.
For whatever reason, married men may make more money. But I can speak from experience in telling you that your disposable decreases substantially once there is a partner (and kids) in the house.
[deleted] 10y ago
Also consider that many colleges have tuition around the $40K/year range. If you spend $160K for all 4 years, which doesn't include many other things, you could have bought yourself a freaking sick Mercedes, without the work of taking care of a kid.
0FO6 10y ago
This really does show though the right side conservative/religious views and how they are still trying to kill what it means to be a man and father. Their example even is silly, guy goes into the military to make more money to provide for his family. What they obviously miss is that the wife stays home and sleeps around with chad has another kid and the betabux gets required to take care of even that kid. So of course these men are going to need to make more money, they have to cover the cost of several extra mouths to feed. Worse than that because they will invariably work significantly more hours they are spending even less time with their family. So instead of being able to show their boys how to be men and be a father in the house they have to spend all the time working at the office and let the mom raise the kids. A mother can't possibly be able to show a boy how to be a man and the mess perpetuates itself. Even further they seem like they want to diminish any sort of male friendships, the way they phrased it like it was evil for a man to have male friends and that they are irresponsible if they do.
Phroneo 10y ago
Not to mention how work has being totally emasculated by PC culture which destroys a lot of the fun one can have there.
[deleted] 10y ago
seriously. walking on egg shells all day is stressful. It's definitely gotten to a point where your coworkers are a huge liability and keeping them at arm's distance is a necessity. You just cannot trust anyone in the work environment, and that's sad. It could have been a place for bonding and copious banter, but instead it's this fucking warzone
Yoxinov 10y ago
Wait what? You think the right side conservative /religious veiws are trying to kill what it means to be a man? I thought that was the cultural marxist left's ideology?
0FO6 10y ago
I am saying that they are just as crazy in their opposite views. If this was on a line, on one end would be extreme and the other end would be just as extreme in the opposite.
Edit: Eh, not very clear of a response. The idea of having man go spend hours at work away from the family came about earlier than cultural marxism. Conservatives (not all) want to shame men into marrying (per the video) so that they will work more hours and jobs that pay more, however this has the side effect that the men won't be home as much. So even though they support their families financially, they don't get to support them through being available. So this has the consequence that boys are raised by their mothers, which don't know how to be men.Which leads us to we are today with some men trying to learn how to be men on TRP. Also as stated in the video men who have families and work will not have any time to have male friends, this kills masculinity even more, it is just as bad as women invading male only spaces. So really the problem is on both sides. One thinks the old ways were the best, the values of the 50s, 60s, but this was already a problem for them as a lot of this shift happened when not as many people needed to be farmers, and boys wouldn't work along side their fathers and grandfathers. It isn't like you are going to take your sons to work everyday in all types of jobs that men work.
makeshift98 10y ago
The left has destroyed marriage. The right insists you get married because "morality", when the institution is completely fucked. The left started it, but now that men are waking up, the right tries to pull the same bullshit tactics as the left and start shaming men telling them to "man up." The shit coming from both sides is fucking toxic and ridiculous.
[deleted] 10y ago
I think the issue is that right wing conservative folks tend to advocate outdated ideals in a world that doesn't permit them anymore. With the way culture/society has been going, marriage just does not make sense like it used to, for better or for worse
BlackJ1 10y ago
I'm glad to see that video is getting disliked to oblivion. What's even better is the comments as it shows men are waking up.

yaysmr 10y ago
It is reaching a point where it is literally impossible to ignore.
Guys get scorned and rejected by women only to see those same women slavering for the local alpha. Feminism is making it 'acceptable,' social media is putting it on display for all to see. Mainstream Media is doing a really good job obfuscating and misdirecting the truth and the root causes ("where have all the good men gone?") but a man only has so much patience for his 100th 'lets be friends' before he starts to question the system and his approach.
Only question is how they choose to adapt to it.
50pluspiller 10y ago
Then why not have 2 straight guys get married for the tax benefits? Good prenuptial agreement, where you keep what's yours.
I think gay marriage opened up this tax and medical benefits loophole.
yomo86 10y ago
This is not an option because there are no real tax benefits. The IRS in every country just assumes that the woman is the financial weaker part and calculates it differently. There is no tax benefit if both parties are in the same earning range.
rot_barth 10y ago
That's actually not a stupid thing to say.
[deleted] 10y ago
I keep waiting for the fake gay bro marriage trend to start for tax benefits soon..
Rimeheart 10y ago
I actually suggested it as a joke to a friend of mine. Also think of the feels you can give women when you "cheat" on your husband because of her.
[deleted] 10y ago
Me and a buddy long ago thought about buying a house together and paying it off in two years to build our equity. Girls always wanted to move in and parasite, but never would contribute much..
Rimeheart 10y ago

/s
Seriously though, I have been in some shared living situations with men and women, and women can be really messy. I always hated the myth about guys having messy places.
50pluspiller 10y ago
I bet it already has. You may begin to see it with single guys with pensions. Get married and those pensions go to the spouse, rather than just going away, there can be some great backroom deals for bigger benefits.
Since pensions are going away as a benefit in businesses legacy pensions will have value in this.
Tscio 10y ago
While I agree, this video is making the point that having a wife & kids gives you that extra motivation to hustle harder and get that promotion etc.
I'm not sure that same motivation could come from marrying my buddy.
Eyes_Of_The_Dragon 10y ago
I agree that I was far more motivated to advance myself because of wife and kids. But part of it was not wanting to deal with her bullshit and not wanting to cheat so I dove into advancing myself.
DaphneDK 10y ago
If you have a wife who takes care of the house and kids, then yes then you can have more time to dedicate to your career if that is what you want to do with your life. But then you need a woman who are good at keeping house and take on the majority of work with the children, etc. - certainly not some independent career woman.
Granarc 10y ago
This is bullshit, the CEO tells me that I need to find a wife and have kids so that he can have me by the balls. Instead I demand a Raise every 2 years. Last year I got a 40% Raise. Still no wife, Looks like Ill be leveraging another offer next year.
A wife and kids make it so your boss can manipulate you. Corporate American loves that.

[deleted]
greatslyfer 10y ago
I don't really get this motivation argument.
You shouldn't be forced in to working more hours, that's your decision.
Plus there are expenses to this marriage, so it's not like you're getting more net.
thehonestdouchebag 10y ago
Well when you have a wife and kids you have to keep up with the Jonses. Your wife won't accept her house being less luxurious than any of her friends. So the providing husbands work more hours to make more money to please their wives. If they don't want to work more then their wives bitch about how " they don't think they are worth it ". It's brilliant, they are trying to trick you into working harder for no net benefit to yourself. Everyone benefits ( except for the man ), the woman gets her shiny toys and business gets her ( your ) funds in exchange.

Rowingteam 10y ago
There is absolutely no gain to getting married now a days. Unless you realize in a few years down the road you are just going to give her half of all of your stuff. And its worse if you have kids. No matter what you'll be paying child support. As Bill Burr said... "3 out of every 4 marriages fail today. Would you jump out of an airplain if 3 out of every 4 parashoots didn't open?"
[deleted] 10y ago
Funny enough, Bill Burr actually got married.
yaysmr 10y ago
Even giving them the benefit of the doubt, it is DANGEROUS as fuck to tell guys to get married without also giving them sound advice on finding a good wife.
Maybe that would result in them uncovering some truths that are a little too on the nose. "Here are the qualities in a woman that have proven to make for a stable marriage. Statistics show that only about 15% (+/- 5%) of the single female population meet these criteria. Good luck."
And they won't make that video because they're too cucked to push the implications all the way.
Its like telling kids to go to college and take out loans "because college grads make more money" without telling them which majors and careers are actually lucrative... you have to warn them away from gender studies and art history or you're just being irresponsible.
[deleted] 10y ago
The implication here is that marriage brings benefits. It does not.

This is spot on.
Most of the times when you hear people trying to encourage men to get married they only talk about what the man should do, as if women were totally passive objects in the whole thing.
But, as you said, if people started talking about the qualities a woman should have to be "marriage material", a good 80 fucking percent of women would be considered completely un-marriageable.
Actually, this is probably the reason a lot of guys are here in TRP. They faced the dating market and realized something was off about the whole thing. Hence, this subreddit and the manosphere.
yaysmr 10y ago
Can confirm. I came here initially to find better advice on how to operate in the cutthroat dating market. Eventually I kept coming because I wanted to figure out WHY the dating market is so goddamn deranged.
Now, fuck the dating market, get money.
sqerl Endorsed Contributor 10y ago
It's not just the dating market... it was the fall out from the marriage market.... and it's the result of society going to shit... and yes, men thru the ages have learned of these traps but there wasnt an effective means to share the information across global boundries. TRP has been around for a long time, just under different names and in different silos. Similar to business, the Internet allowed for collaboration across a huge swath of society. TRP is a result of this collection of information from around the globe and from thousands of years. The "pill' format makes a lot of sense once you see the depth of the information.
RedxDevil 10y ago

"Married men make more money."
should be
"Men who make more money get married."
The words've been swapped around because the tonality of "getting married=making money" supports the bias of the video's creator. Plus the fact That no one wants to agree with the latter, no matter how true it is.
[deleted] 10y ago
and it's not even taking into account that the extra money is likely going towards the wife and kids. Of course married men are likely driven to make more money, they fucking have to! You cannot be a good father/husband if you're slacking off. At any rate, I love how the acquisition of a bit more capital is seen as the end all be all, as if were not going to die one day and all of this will have been for naught. Oh boy, ill be so happy that I worked longer for that extra 20 percent of wealth in my old age, i'm sure
Swallowed_the_pill 10y ago
Also,I would assume that married men are, on average, older than non married men. The older you are the more likely it is to have a higher salary.
jaysire 10y ago
Even if there is causation involved, it's still not the good kind if married men make more money because they have to in order to finance the whole ordeal.
The whole premise is flawed from the start, indicating that income is somehow beyond our control. Some people choose to make less in order to have more free time.
[deleted] 10y ago
Or, married men are more driven to make more money so they can keep wifey happy...

There was a story shared recently where we learned the wife of potential new CEO was part of the interview process.... why? Because by keeping her spending habits at a slightly higher rate than his earning kept him working hard. Nice, right? Fuck that shit.

Men who lose their jobs get divorced and have all their assets taken.
Men who have shit jobs aren't wanted by any women.
There's your alternative explanation.
JimFury 10y ago
I disagree. When I injured my neck and didn't have a job for a while I was still picking up chicks. Money doesn't really mean much for picking up women except gold diggers.
PlusGoody 10y ago
Status means everything to most women and a lot to the rest. Money is one, but not the only, source of status.
bowie747 10y ago
Really? I think most people here would dispute that. Maybe for ONS money is less relevant, but for LTR/marriage money counts for a lot.
In 12-18months I'm going to approximately double my salary, I'm hoping this will put me in (or near) the top 20%.
JimFury 10y ago
I guess if you want it to matter it'll affect your confidence as well. I had an LTR at the time and she paid for everything it really didn't affect anything. Now that I'm back to work for an oil company I make more money than I know what to do with and my ltrs and ons haven't changed. All that's changed is the stuff I do instead of being broke I have fun and spend money.

TheGatherHunter 10y ago
On their own, men can do fine on 30k. Once married with a kid, men don't even feel like 100+k is enough.
And let's be honest, it's easier to reach 100+k if you don't have to worry about a wife and kids every day. This just tells me married men are probably really exhausted.
bumbuff 10y ago
Being single with a 50k salary is great.
I have a few debts to pay. But other than that I still afford rent, savings, a car, a bike, and a few other toys that have since been paid off. And I still have money left over each month.
PlusGoody 10y ago
If you have a good wife you don't worry about her or the kids every day. She takes of herself, them and you. I literally don't remember the size of clothes or shoes I wear because my wife buys them. I don't know my dentists name because my wife makes the appointments. I haven't changed the oil in a car, spent more than 5 minutes in a supermarket, paid a bill or been to the dry cleaner in years. I have two school age kids and changed maybe 50 diapers total.
Ronin11A 10y ago

The man is insane.
I'm probably one of the lowest earning dudes at my firm by raw salary. Yet I gotta leave my muscle car at home ; no driving the Red V8 to the office.
Why?Because I'd get fucking lynched by every married dude in my department, guys who clear six figures but can't afford to own a car nicer then a basic Kia.
I guess kids, pedicures, designer soap trays, and luxury minivans and SUVs (for the kids!) cost a lot eh? I'd conservatively say a married woman would cost about 120% of her earnable salary . Add in kids , the secret charge card(s) and her siphoning of the family funds to pay for off-balance sheet nights out with Chad, and the money problem just gets crazier.
Think about this lurkers- there are divorced men paying alimony, child support, and lawyer fees who have more disposable income after all those bills then they did when they were married and a "two income household". Think about the enormity of that for a minute.
Ronin11A 10y ago

This reminds me of the show Shark Tank, where someone comes on there with a business idea that is shitty, and tries to use emotion to get one of the sharks to invest in their company, and the sharks basically tell them to go piss up a rope.
Modern women and Marriage 2.0 is essentially that, going in on a bad business deal that will lose you money. Approach marriage like you would a business proposition. Long term benefit vs. cost. It's not worth it.
Could you imagine this faggot trying to make this argument infront of the investors on the show Shark Tank? He'd get ripped to shreds. He is only looking at one half of the equation, the short term, and not the long term possibilities.

Egad. I'm only 2 minutes into this thing and I had to stop watching it. The guy in the example they used at the beginning could have done all of that without getting married.
And what is the bullshit reasoning they give?
A. Become a better worker. The Welfare State needs more drones!
B. Spend less time with friends and work more hours. Have LESS fun, while someone else spends your money!
The point of the video seems to be how marriage benefits everybody else around the man: his wife, his employer, the state, while pointing things out as "benefits" that are really "disadvantages".
Oh, and no mention that the things that are so great about marriage can be taken away if the wife changes her mind.

pretty sure this man is retarded

I saw this video earlier. 100% true, my co workers always volunteer for more overtime then me..
Somehow I always drive brand new vehicles and motorcycles every couple years while still having plenty of savings while they drive Rustbuckets and love paycheck to paycheck..

The thing is, driving a new car does not make a person better. Dont get confused - its cool. The problem i have is they are not aware of what is happening - or dont want to be aware. It would be much better if they just said - my job suck, i want more money(=freedom) so i need to step up. It may not end in a new car(maybe they even dont want one) but it would benefit society in general, this kind of thinking. What most people do - they just dont think about their life.

Be a man, provide resources for a woman even if she's not having sex with you
Be a man, let your LTR fuck other guys
Be a man, raise another man's child
See? Anyone can play that game!

All I see are reasons other people have for me to get married, and no reason for myself as to why I should get married.
KartagoPill 10y ago
yep, because our life aren't ours. We need slavemaster a woman to take fruit of our labor and destroy it in divorce. Because cucknation.
Luckyluke23 10y ago
the 2 reason to get married ever are.
<citing financial gains as an incentive.
and Green cards / visa into a country.
other than that... it's not worth it.
KartagoPill 10y ago
but what about love? It's a strongest FEEL. wink wink

Statistically true, because women marry men who make more money.
renzy77 10y ago
It's because your bills are going to go up once you tie the knot.
Married men make more money because they have to, not because there's some sort of societal pay-raise you get just because you decided to "put a ring on it."
It's like telling men, "put yourself into debt so you'll be forced to work more hours and make more money...in order to pay off your debt!" and then churning out headlines like "Men who are in debt tend to make more money."
They're putting the cart before the horse. And it's not by accident.
popthatpill 10y ago
Not to mention that married men have to make more money, because they now have a giant expense-generator holding them at threatpoint.

I had a schadenfreude moment when the guy in the video went to the military after marrying, because we all know what military wives do when their husbands are away.
Eyes_Of_The_Dragon 10y ago
I could see the military requiring vasalgel in new recruits to make sure children grow up with fathers at home. Wouldn't that be an interesting twist of fate.
[deleted] 10y ago
I hope that vasalgel leads to a sort of sexual revolution in this regard. I think it has the potential to change dynamics quite a bit, because atm there is a certain allowance of behavior that leads to cuckoldry and it's easily hidden
Entropy-7 10y ago
I could see the military requiring vasalgel in new recruits to make sure there are no babies born in theatre (given that there are now women in the forces).

Harder to get knocked up to get out of a deployment when none of the men with you are fertile.
Granted, one of the locals at wherever the deployment is might jump on that grenade, but the woman knows at least subconsciously that UCMJ won't help her extract resources from a local like it will from a service member.

"Be a woman.stop being a slag fucking as much cock as possible in your 20s"

I like how the reasons they give to get men married don't advantage them or when they do it's overshadowed by the added cost and risks which are never mentioned.
Albacorewing 10y ago
I have always liked the show founded by Dennis Prager. But here he is totally wrong. You always need to mine different philosophies for stuff that works best for you.
Prager and his buddies are traditional conservatives, and the fact that so many men are refusing to marry freaks them out. Marriage worked great, 60 years ago. It no longer works for most men.

What the fuck?
Taulbee was an 18 year old kid, I would hope he would have gotten a better job regardless of marriage (always strive to be your best) as he got older. But now instead of being happy and working less hours, he must work more hours to support the exorbitant costs of raising a family (MUCH more bills, more food, more clothes, children, shopping etc). Did they discuss his stress levels before and after marriage? Why the fuck would I want to go to bars less and hang out with my coworkers less, and instead go to church more and hang out with my family more? That sounds awful.
This man is a cuck
KartagoPill 10y ago
cucknation all the way. It's all greater plan.
Entropy-7 10y ago
I can't play the video (Chinese internet) but the standard arguments in favour of marriage are:
1) Behind every successful man is a woman. . .who targeted him for his success or made his success necessary due to her spending habits.
2) Only married men can get divorced. They never combine the married+divorced happiness levels together to compare them to never married men. In any event, there is probably some hamstering going on like when you pay too much for a crappy meal and then later convince yourself it was delicious so you don't feel like an idiot.
3) Fathers probably live longer too because they are not as likely to engage in risky behavior when they have a kid to support. Additionally, married men live longer because their wives will nag them about anything fun they might do like buying a motorcycle or going bungie jumping. See above for just how happy them are.
bhaknu 10y ago
Well, I fuck off a lot more than my married coworkers. I usually take half the month off. Of course they make more.
