TL;DR- A quick word on Alpha Widows, her "past Alphas" and the importance of walking away.
"The Silhouette Constant"
Over shorter periods of time, the woman will have a clearer picture of both good and bad traits from which to judge the man on.
But as time progresses, her memory of the actual man fades and her over-all perception becomes no more than a lump sum of how she last felt about him i.e. a "silhouette" of the impact his frame left on her.
If she felt he leaned towards beta, his silhouette will become Beta. If she felt he leaned towards Alpha, his silhouette will become Alpha.
The actual Alpha may have had beta traits or the actual Beta may have had alpha traits, but over time, they have been forgotten in lieu of their absence.
This explains several commonalities.
1) It explains why Alphas use "walking away" and dread game as a buff towards their perception.
By suddenly disappearing from her perception, she builds a "silhouette" around the Alpha-esque characteristics he exuded and begins to forget any of bad/beta characteristics he may have portrayed (so long as the summation of her perception of him was "Alpha" at his time of departure).
This is why "soft nexting" or "hard nexting" are such common practices in askTRP and TRP; They're using this notion as a passive gaming tactic.
2) It explains why Alpha Widows exist.
When the Alpha disappears inexplicably with only the silhouette of his frame left in his wake, the woman will judge all future potential mates, NOT against the Alpha himself but against how she REMEMBERS him i.e. against his silhouette. Meaning that should said Alpha return, if the new Alpha's SMV is lower that the old Alpha's silhouette, she's likely to return to the arms of her old Alpha.
When it comes down to a sure thing v. risk, women will usually aire on the side of risk aversion.
3) It explains why old flames are never impressed.
The Silhouette Constant works both ways.
Should a man leave as a beta, his silhouette will be perceived as a beta and all previously-demonstrated Alpha traits lost to her.
Any Alpha traits displayed by the man after this point will be seen as a mere facade to the "truth that lay beneath". This makes reconnecting with old flings is ill-advisable, especially those that were left with "beta silhouettes".
In short, the passage of time is only beneficial if her last perception of you was Alpha. Otherwise, due to the frailty of memory and the ease of compartmentalization, as time passes, those perceptions of beta become hard-grained and nigh-impossible to shatter.
Lesson Learned- All in all, if she perceives an Enlightened Alpha as beta, being enlightened, he should pursue other women. A rekindling without previously established Alpha identification is fighting an unnecessarily difficult uphill climb, all while other men watch from up high, happily riding a gondola to it's summit.

She never gets close enough to the alpha to see him sick on the couch, shitting while hungover AF, or stressed about finals. The alpha bounces before she gets all this real life exposure and just sees him on top of his game. That is why the Silhouette dissipates in relationships.

Even worse, sometimes there are just days or weeks where you are On Fire. It's like a highlight of a highlight.
Good luck out-alphaing the guy who fucked her in the bushes at mardi gras while she's the one washing your shitstains out of your underwear.

good banter here. Saved both comments

This is also why men regret not fucking a chick "for the last time."
If the sex comes to an abrupt halt, the thought that she is left with a less-than-dominant impression is frustrating. Always bring your A-fuck-game.

This also explains why a woman will stay loyal to an alpha when he becomes sick or temporarily loses frame. I work in health and I continually see will continue feeding the alpha, wiping his butt, and loyally bringing him to the hospital. They will do this for the alpha, old guy getting alzhemeirs who continues to yell at her about the dinner being cooked wrong. Women are very loyal to alphas. You can even be beta for a time if you have set your initial and long term frame as an alpha. This may not be for every woman, or forever. But the alpha can definitely have short periods of weakness because the woman will see his silhouette.
The complaints we see about women nowadays, are often due to their total lack of loyalty to beta men (of which there are more and more every day).

I was going to comment similar. I think this is another great insight by OmLaLa but this part of the theory needs some more development. I agree it can be leveraged for game, am using it currently.
I was an ultimate beta in my old life, but I keep nailing these girls when they see me in a new situation after 2 years of self-improvement, and a couple are still around as long distance plates and generally leave me alone unless they have travel plans in my area. I still beta-out a little when they hit me up about something, sports/fitness/psychology/math related straight-talk stuff. But when they land in my city their first stop is my bed and we never discuss it, except one who fantasized a bit and said she felt a bit guilty about her BB BF (re: "we're both adults and had fun", no more mention).
It amounts to contrast in my mind. They remember a nice skinny friendly helpful beta who was on top of his shit, and they find a pretty bulky guy who knows how to lead them around and be assertive with others while out, and assumes the close like it's standard operating procedure (it is with new girls).

Was it worth the fucking her brains out?

There is the old saying never look a gift horse in the mouth.
Basically if it's free and acceptable enough at first glance you gain little from over analyzing it.
/u/pheluhnee is putting this into practice with the caveat that he isn't going to take care of the horse. He will just use it for it's immediate need and set it free when he has his fill or a better horse is available.
I think the point he is trying to express is using an old flame to fill a want is fine as long as the want is short lived and you don't lower your minimum standard or stop seeking something better. Also sometimes better is merely being unattached as TRP Theory explains.

TLDR
Rule number one of any type of relationship.
You can beat a person, but you can't beat a ghost. Idealized concepts are forever. In fighting them you only add to their ammunition.
[deleted] 10y ago
Good point on Alpha widows, who are made by "the one who got away" before the woman had a chance to construct the "he wasn't good enough for me" narrative in her mind that she needs to move on emotionally from a relationship.
That's one reason why connecting with an old flame isn't a good idea. If you walked away from her, she may be looking for a chance to knock you down off her emotional pedestal so she can get closure. If she broke up with you, you're just wasting time trying to reconnect with her.

This is why men need to compartmentalize their lifes, so you can keep her in a compartment where she only sees your high points and away from your low points.

I felt like a concept like this existed but never could actually define it quite as good as you did, props for that. I have a question, is there a way to reverse your silhouette or is it waste of time and you need to hard next?

Yup. Men will spend months/years trying to fix a bad first impression. He could go out and meet a new woman and in literally 60 seconds be in a better position than he was with his old woman.
Another part of this is not just how the woman views him, but how he feels the woman views him. If she has gotten away with treating him like shit, she not only views him as a beta, but he views himself as a beta around her and tends to act more like a beta because of the reality he has built.

There are allot of factors that could impact this though. Take my past LTR. I was very alpha in the beginning, but only because I wasn't interested in the slightest. In the relationship I broke serious frame twice but the relationship ended before my weak traits were entirely exposed. The last day however I was a physical and mental wreck. After that I bounced though and hard nexted her.
Following your hypothesis, there's no way to asses what imprint was left on that bag of crazy. But following her future relationships that will naturally last longer- and therfor expose more beta traits. I'd say i'm perceived more alpha.
[deleted] 10y ago
I really like this theory. Although, there is perhaps a time when her image of you finally is up for review again. She may still think you're a beta at the end of a relationship, but if you're alpha as fuck after not seeing her for ages and there are real physical changes in you (you put on 20lbs of muscle, have a totally different demeanor, have a different style, etc) then she will reevaluate you, and if you truly don't need her in your life and she gives even a fraction of an ass hair more of a fuck about you than you do about her, then her hamster will go crazy trying to rationalize how she's still better than you and can do better than you.
If she can't prove any of this, then you may have yourself a new (old) plate. This would also be a safe option by this point, because if you weren't ready to plate her, then you wouldn't have passed the uber shit tests.
Is she more 'special' than other women? Of course not. You wouldn't plate her for that reason. I like plating old girlfriends as a show of dominance and to reinforce my belief that I've grown and changed as a person. There is also a law of power that states that an enemy has more to prove than a friend. If things ended on bad terms and she thinks you give zero fucks about her, then it truly is a beautiful feeling getting head from a needy girl who's boots you used to lick.

stop. that hope is the beta in you speaking. you might as well say NAWALT if you're going to think like this. we use absolutes like NAWALT to reprogram our blue pill minds. no exceptions. it's extreme but effective
hoping to impress an old ex with the new you means your body and mind haven't purged the oneitis from your system. you don't want to relapse. just like thinking you've found a unicorn can slip you back into beta patterns, thinking you can rekindle an old flame is often pure folly.
move on always.
nyrp 10y ago
I would make an exception that this shit can work for the very young, because people do make exceptional changes while they're still growing. Up to age 21, say. Maybe 24 max. Like if you dated a girl when you were 17, and then she gave you a second-look at 22.
I think there are legitimately different contexts when you talk about certains rules as they will pertain to the everyday lives of, say, 19 year-olds, and 33 year-olds.
