You should have a different mentality as soon as you step in the gym. Go from smiling outside the door to locker room to changing and walking out of the locker room with an focused face.
Now the most of you know already to hit the gym, eat healthy or whatever you want depending on your body or diet. Personally I use IIFYM and I've lost 30 pounds in 3 months. It's not the diet that matters when you're in the gym or on the track or wherever you are.
When you get into the gym you should be all smiles until the locker room. After you bullshit and get ready and you get out of the locker room you should be in the "FUCK THESE WEIGHTS" mood. I don't see any aggression from any men in my gym besides myself when I'm lifting. It bothers me because I know I go to a pussy gym (Not planet fitness).
The aggression that builds up throughout your day whether it's your asshole boss or a guy got your order wrong when you got food. Take it out on the weight. Put music in your phone that gets you pumped and don't talk to people. If you wanna gawk in your 15 second breaks in between whatever. But train with anger. My mentality when lifting is "God I hate these weights I'm gonna fuck you guys up" and then boom I start lifting. You shouldn't be sweating a little bit, looking at your phone unless you're changing a song or talking to people; it makes unproductive. Don't talk to anybody make the gym your sanctuary and care for it but it's your area of training and a place where you can come at any time when you're angry or sad/depressed.

As the legends from Wall Street Playboys put it:
"Weight Lifting: Back five years ago when lifting at the gym, angry aggressive and downright mean songs would blast from my earphones. Now? Weightlifting is done while listening to incredibly upbeat and happy music. Why? Rewire Your Brain. Weightlifting with angry music blasting is good, but imagine lifting with positive vibes flowing the entire time. Now your mind and your body are associating weightlifting with a positive connotation. There are a lot of fit guys at the gym who listen to heavy music, it works, but what if it could be better? This change alone allows you to be in a positive mind frame both before you enter the gym and after you enter the gym."
Nothing else to add. Lifting with rage is the first level. At one point you'll surpass it.

Henry Rollins listens to ballads while he lifts.

Yes, Henry at least he written that he does in "The Iron". Though on some interviews he expresses that he does blast more raging music.

I don't lift with music if I can help it. I find that the music takes away from my focus. I focus on my form, on my thoughts, on my inner self. I get lost in the space between reps.
Plus, when I am in between sets, or changing exercises, I like to talk to some of the bros. These guys are our brothers, they are like us and it's only in that space where we can be ourselves. Why rob yourself of that opportunity to learn/ teach someone else?
It doesn't matter if you're BP or RP there.. it doesn't matter if your 250 lbs of jacked muscled manflesh or a 120 lb noob who just started... at the Iron Temple, there is a community of men, perhaps the only place left where men are not alone.... don't ignore it.

Fuck yes, this!
My gym plays the most horrible popular radio hits all the time, really loud as well, so it's like some god forsaken disco. That really takes away from my focus.
I've made two playlists - one with brutal ass metal, and one with montage music from popular 80's films (think Rocky) or similar sounding tracks. I find the combination giving a great "top of the world" kind of pump, one being angrier than the other.
I mean, fuck it, when Heaven Shall Burn - Endzeit's chorus is screaming "WE ARE THE FINAL RESISTANCE" at you, you will finish those last, heavy ass reps. That line is also kind of RP ;)
Sometimes I don't go for aggressive, but religious, when lifting. I imagine I am lifting the Heavy Ass Weights™ up twoards Brodin, the Allspotter, paying tribute for the swole he will bestow upon me for my hard work.
Whatever works for you, have fun with it, but make sure that it gets you in a mindset that serves your goals. Outcome independence does not apply to lifting.
