Lurking for about 3 months, absorbed much, changed my life, learning to walk the walk. Oh and started lifting!
Now that that's out of the way, let me share my enthusiasm for this unique community. TRP is the unicorn of internet communities and a fucking holy grail in deep shit that is Reddit.
Here is what in my eyes separates TRP from the rest (not considering the obvious: the content) :
-
Bullshit is rare here. I don't know if it's the mods or just general quality of people here but this point is I think the most obvious once you lurk for at least a minute. People go straight to the point.
-
No dick measuring. For such masculine community there is extremely low amount of chest-beating or other locker-room proving-grounds drama.
-
Honesty-to-Butthurt ratio. This one amazes me. There is a lot of calling people out on their claims but rarely there is any poison in the response. Most disagreements seem to go as far to agree to disagree and no further.
-
No grammar nazis. This one is huge! I saw a share of grammar slights in posts here yet nobody calls this out. We err. We are mixed community with non-native English speakers. Misteaks are bound to happen. I felt this reflex to correct first couple of these but once I saw it is not even considered important enough to pollute the sub with ..you're comments I realized how petty this is.
-
Camaraderie. Nowhere on the web have I felt such natural connection. Not based on feeeelz and <3 and mutual back-rubbing, but genuine respect. Respect for oneself allows one to relax the defensive mindset and to naturally recognize others' value without the feeling one lowers himself by admitting it.
- Coolness. This sub is hated. It is contra. It is an underground guerrilla fraternity and it just feels right (don't stone me!) to be a part of it.
Anyway, this is my thanks to this wondrous corner of web which has added so much to so many lives! (seriously, changing the life of 76 000 men is a damn impressive accomplishment).

Three cheers for the mods. Too bad this is an anonymous internet forum--I'd say we owe you guys a drink.

I'm almost 100% sure I've met two red pillers in real life through my gym. One of them literally reminds me of a black gaylubeoil. Got a drink with him the other night with a big group. Cool ass dude, scary as fuck, but an inspiration.

I don't understand the referance.

I think gaylubeoil recently made a topic on how to sculpt your girlfriends ass by helping her at the gym :p

The de facto purpose of /r/relationships is for girls to get validation for their questionable relationship decisions and hamstering.
DysfunctionalControl 12y ago
100% agree. It's great to read top replies that are completely honest and helpful (as well as humorous) and people actually take it and improve on it.

I had been attempting to formulate an understanding of what Red Pill was before coming here but it was always a very murky intuitive sense that things were not right.
Red Pill clarifies and amplifies insight.
Lifting weights helps people get into their physical alpha core and realize their animal existence, but the Red Pill logic does the same to your intellect by making it stronger.
Animal core and powerful mind... it's what Red Pill is about. (it's great)

I am so thankful for all of the wisdom you all bring to the table daily. Even when there is a need to point out a harsh reality people are able to do so in a way that is strong and compassionate simultaneously. It has changed everything for me.

We focus on the important things here: Self improvement.
Most of us don't want to/have the patience for people who don't want to help themselves or improve. We can hold the door open, but its up to you to come in, but if you do, then most people here are quite helpful.

"Misteaks (Mistakes) are bound to happen. I felt this reflex to correct first couple of these but once I saw it is not even considered important enough to pollute the sub with ..you're comments I realized how petty this is."
No one else found this hilarious? Nobody?
suloco 12y ago
'crickets'..
Guess not.. and here I sit, thinking highly of my hilarity :D..

I was pretty sure it was done on purpose. Gold sir, gold!

I really love that this sub is hated. Every time it's mentioned it attracts thousands of new subscribers and lurkers.
DownvotesCatposts 12y ago
And you know it's people who read all this criticism and say, "huh, I don't know, I'm going to check this out myself." This group naturally attracts those who actively question their peers, which is a good thing.

this is the only subreddit I frequent daily

Thanks for the reminder, I gotta cook up a batch of beef.

This is, above all, the best online internet community I've ever been a part of.
I want to piggy-back on what you're saying about "cutting the shit." This sub is the absolute best I've ever seen for straight-talk. Compare our responses to feminized subs. We get to the point. No diplomacy, no ulterior motives, just "here's what's up."
I WISH my dad was like that.

I find it interesting that wrong or misguided comments don't necessarily get downvoted below 1, you usually have to say something outright wrong, stupid, illogical or hateful to get downvoted into oblivion.

"misteaks" .... really.
Please tell me this was deliberate.

I've been a grammar Nazi in here more than a few times. Sometimes I get up-voted for it, sometimes I get down-voted.
I try not to be a dick about it, but we preach self improvement, so shit like "I was loosing my mind." drives me up a wall.
Maybe as I've gotten older I care more about it. I know the college aged kids in here typically don't give a shit about correct spellings. But IMO, they should care about doing it right if they want a serious professional career.
the_number_2 12y ago
I had a habit of correcting my friends when they misused words or spelled things wrong. Usually it's met with "You know what I meant", "It doesn't matter", or something along those lines.
But yes, it does matter. Misuse a word in a job interview, see how that does for you. I always tried to help my friends because the image you portray can be SHATTERED by something simple like that. You lose so much credibility in the eyes of anyone that matters by misusing or mispronouncing words.
lemonparty 12y ago
100% agree. Nothing wrong with a polite correction. The young guys in here should know that every job opening these days has a stack of 100 resumes sitting on the hiring manager's desk. Anyone who reaches the age of 20 and can't get "your and you're" right is lucky to get an interview. Anyone who misuses the word "literally" during an interview can count on being made fun of the moment they walk out the door, which will be as soon as the interviewer can end it.
This goes for technical fields too. I don't care if you're an elite programmer -- you're going to be writing reports and interfacing with customers, vendors, and corporate from time to time. If you have the verbal/writing skills of a middle school student, you can get in line behind the other great programmers.
suloco 12y ago
You can usually tell from the writing style if the misspelling was a mistake (slip of a finger) or if the person really doesn't know how to fucking type. I never correct the first instance but maybe a post with shitty typing (no capitals, no space after comma) should probably be called out: Yo bro! Fix your damn typing!
workfish 12y ago
It's frustrating sometimes. I think in general people are better off for being politely corrected. If English isn't your first language, fixing your spelling and grammar is just one more step towards a better you. I still can't tell if the OP was joking or not with "misteak" (mistake).
I think in general though the worst mistakes come from guys that have "made it" in non-traditional professions, not college kids. Not everyone has had the same level of education, and that's fine, but I find it hard to respect someone that still butchers their/they're or your/you're. It's not hard to figure out. I still appreciate their insight and advice, but similar to dressing nice, you don't get to decide what people judge you on.
Force_Titan 12y ago
If one thing I have learned in the last few years, it is this. Everyone judges. Improve your image and you get automatic points.
Dr_Wally 12y ago
I'm nervous to post but i do want to say this. I've been lurking for a short period of time(maybe a month) and learned a lot. I'm still in the self improvement phase but TRP has been a source of motivation to keep me moving forward.
cali_gunner 12y ago
Zero useful red pill knowledge here because OP took a thanktrp post and posted it to trp prime.
suloco 12y ago
It is half thank you TRP and half listing unique features of this subreddit.
..so you're right! Gonna post it there too, thanks bro!
cali_gunner 12y ago
Nobody here needs you to repeat the "unique" things about this subreddit that we all know. You're posting here looking for a circlejerk. Take your horseshitpost to thanktrp.

I agree with the sentiment. But there is a lot of bullshit. A whole lot. Posts from the endorsed and the generally well established are high quality, but otherwise....
adrixshadow 12y ago
My dick is bigger then yours! (no its not)
I don't even know how you could get that. Measure the amount of sluts we sleep with? There is no point.
