I've noticed a lot of talk about Narcissism and Psychopathy as "dark triad" traits, as well as how they're desireable, but very little discussion on what they actually are, and how to recognise them (Disclaimer: Self-diagnosis is not what I'm talking about, if you think you might have these traits, see a shrink).
I've been recently reminded about a book I read a while ago, called Zero Degrees of Empathy. It details how people who have trouble connecting to others' minds are different from a "normal" person, focusing primarily on Narcissism, Psychopathy, BPD and Autism. I found it a fascinating read and was wondering if anyone else had read it?

I haven't personally, but I've read several books on BPD alone, and people can call those traits whatever the hell they want, I see it as utter weakness.
The glorification of narcissistic and sociopathic thought patterns remind me of the fat kid in school who lost a lot of weight and is always gloating and shoving it in peoples' faces...they can't just act normal like those who were never fatasses in the first place.
Similar analogy would be those types who convert to Christianity and immediately become instant zealots who annoy the fuck out of everyone. Understanding women doesn't mean turning into a cunt yourself.

My friend is dark triad and this is what unfolded last week:
A girl who likes him offered to buy him shots but he told her to buy them for all of us and she did. He hands the shot she bought him to me and laughs when she got mad. Later on in the night she is outside drunk and crying by herself. I tell him about it and he says "Sucks for her."
