In our society time is the new currency, it’s more expensive than money, for there is only a limited amount of it whereas money is technically unlimited.
You only have so much of it, you need to choose wisely where you spend it;
Because once spent you’re not getting it back, the worse part is in our society we do not acknowledge the worth our time has, we think it’s unlimited, we spend it on stupid things like Netflix, social media, gossip, looking at our phones all day (that’s coming from a young person) etc.
Now don’t get me wrong you can watch Netflix and such if you want, but be aware that you could’ve put that time to a better use.
Ok but where am I going with all of this?
Well after taking a step back on life, I realized this one thing..
Until the day of your death comes you always have a chance to improve.
What I mean is you can always start that new business, start working out, talk to girls, improve yourself, reinvent yourself. Don’t ever give up on yourself because it’s only when the day of your death comes you will truly give up because you will have no other choice and that day hasn’t come yet and when that day comes you’ll never know, nor see it coming.
How to begin self improvement?
First things first figure out what you’re made of (your strength, weakness),
what I mean is are you a lion, antilope, gorilla, because in the wild even a lion himself carefully chooses his fight, And it would be foolish and absurd for an antilope not to run when it sees a lion, just figure what drives you.
2nd figure out where you at now in life,
3rd figure out where you want to be
4th look up somebody that’s where you want to be.
5th figure out what this person does and does not do and ask yourself this ?
Would this person be watching porn ?
No so don’t do it
Would this person put in work at 5 Am?
Yes do it
Now your are not copying that person what your doing is you’re just adopting good habits and getting rid of bad habits. And remember live everyday like it is your last because it could very well be your last.
Edit: and do not care if people judge you for trying something new because at the end of the day there is only so much space for one person in a coffin witch means when you die, you die alone, they still are in the world of the living, so make sure not to have any regrets, don’t be scared to take actions, because your only able to takes actions for as long as you’re alive. And you won’t have any other chance.
The best time to start was yesterday or 10 years ago but the 2nd best time to start is now.

This is true.
With the pandemic lockdown last year I chose to spend all my new free time losing weight for the first time in my life. I went from 245 pounds down to 190 pounds. I still have 30 pounds left until I hit my goal weight of 160 but I will get there.
Meanwhile I just ran into my ex girlfriend last Thursday and let me tell you she gained a fucking ton of weight in the same amount of time that I lost all my weight.
Not gonna lie. I feel great about my choice to spend all my free time doing active things as opposed to passive things.
Before the pandemic I never exercised and barely knew how to cook and had no hobbies beyond watching TV.
So when the lockdown began I sold both of my TVs and used the money to buy a weight set and a piano (my new hobby).
I divided all my free time between 3 new activities:
I am a much better person now than I was pre-2020.

It feels great to see an ex and realize you just owned them in the self-improvement field. I was dumped a few months ago because she "didn't want to date a project". Guess who is now noticing me working on said project, meeting new women not her. She's gonna be fuming when she realizes how enamored the newest girl is with me. I have a good feeling about her but I can't let my guard down, the only way is forward.

Do you take piano lessons? Im better than a beginner but stuck on where to go and how to learn/improve without necessarily taking lessons

As you lost more and more weight did you start noticing just how fat people are in America wait until you get to 160. To

The thing that shocked me the most was how unsupportive most people are. Many of my family are overweight and obese.
The moment I told them I was losing weight they had all this animosity towards me. Always talked down to me like I betrayed them or something. It was super weird.
But I noticed similar behavior in other situations too. For example, way back in Summer 2013 when I had just turned 18 I was homeless and living in a homeless shelter. For the first couple weeks I just hung out with some of the other homeless people and smoked weed all day while getting drunk.
Then I decided I wanted something more from life so I stopped drinking and smoking and got a job and saved up money so I could get an apartment.
Same thing happened. All the other homeless guys seemed upset that I was trying to better myself and they always tried to talk me into quitting my job so I could hang with them and drink and smoke some more.
It's almost like they thought if I tried and succeeded then it would prove to them that they can succeed too but instead they choose to stay in their shitty situation.
At least that's how I see it. Same with my obese family being upset that I successfully lost 55 pounds. They wanted me to fail so they could keep telling themselves that positive change is not possible. Now they feel guilty for not putting that effort into themselves.

Just as the saying "misery loves company"... they always will try to put you down so they cannot figure that they could change their own resolve.

What you're describing is called "crabs in a bucket mentality".
Terminatorfan1 2y ago
Holy shit. That's exactly what that was. I didn't even know there was a name for it.
Thanks for posting that.

Like it's not hard enough to lose weight with support?

That is extremely interesting.. Only in America can you be obese and impoverished simultaneously... While having more comfort & amenities when compared to the rest of the world... It is very strange... Decadence is the norm when culture is inconsistent with biology... Just my thoughts...
Terminatorfan1 2y ago
Yup. The cheapest food in America is the unhealthiest.
I always find it interesting that if you look back in history, being overweight was a sign of wealth. In modern day America being overweight or obese is a sign of poverty.

What’d you do to lose the weight? I’m struggling with it now. I have a great career, great social network, enjoy life, etc but my weight is holding me back for sure. I lift but can’t seem to get into cardio. Any tips?
CuntMonteCristo 2y ago
Ketogenic diet and getting into ketosis might be a good idea to try and combine it with intermittent fasting (Don't forget to take in your minerals, like salt and magnesium). That is extremely effective to lose weight and you still can eat a steak and bacon :-)
Terminatorfan1 2y ago
Wow. I think I am the opposite of you. I am good at the weight loss but terrible at making money and being social. I work a dead end retail job because I am not qualified for anything else. I am awful with social stuff because I have autism.
Anyways, as for my weight loss I do lots of pull ups plus the big 5 compound lifts (Deadlift, Bench Press, Squat, Overhead Press, and Bent over rows with barbell). I do those moves on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Then I run 2 miles on a treadmill on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Sunday is my day of rest.
Honestly, I admit that I do not train as hard or intense as most guys on this sub probably do. But I have seen vast amounts of improvement in myself since starting. Keep in mind I was completely sedentary before I started any of this.
BrolecopterPilot 2y ago
Congrats though man. That takes an incredible amount of will power. What changes did you make to your diet?
Terminatorfan1 2y ago
Let me tell ya. Changing my diet was the hardest thing I have ever done. I have battled depression for years and junk food was always one of the only things that ever brought me happiness. Originally I thought that exercise would be harder for me than dieting but I have discovered that I actually enjoy exercise but I have never grown to like the healthy eating. I just suck it up and power through because it's what I need to do.
Prior to 2020, my diet consisted of lots of sodas and alcoholic beverages. And lots of pizza, fried chicken, potato chips, ice cream, cakes, cookies, pies, etc. And almost no vegetables or fresh fruits whatsoever.
I changed my diet in small increments. A little at a time. Once I got used to the change I would then make a new change.
The first change was I cut out all non-water beverages. No more alcohol or soda. My food was still the same junk but I didn't drink anything but plain tap water. Believe it or not I lost 15 pounds just from that change with no exercise or changing food. I guess beer and soda have a lot of calories.
Once I plateaued after losing that first 15 pounds I began walking 6 miles a day and incorporating fresh fruits and veggies into my meals.
I lost another 15-20 pounds doing that. Then I started slowly cutting back on the unhealthy meals and snacks while replacing them with higher quality homemade meals. For example, instead of fried chicken with mashed potatoes. I would eat grilled chicken breast with a baked sweet potato. I lost even more weight and switched from walking each day to running each day. Eventually cutting down the running to 3 days and lifting weights on the other 3 days.
As of now, I do still allow myself to indulge in some junk food but only 1 meal a week. Usually some pizza and ice cream for lunch on Sundays. Gotta treat yourself ya know. But other than that 1 meal a week I am hardcore about sticking to my diet. All whole foods. Nothing processed. Lots of lean chicken breast and fresh veggies and fruits. My favorite veggies are broccoli and spinach. As for fruit I eat just about anything. For snacks during the day I have pistachios and walnuts instead of potato chips and doritos.
I hope this was helpful. Feel free to ask further questions.
BrolecopterPilot 2y ago
Great response, thanks. I kind of knew it was gonna be this. I have such a hard time with the diet. Thing is I don’t really eat junk food. No fast food whatsoever. But I’ll make stuff like sandwiches or bacon and eggs and that stuff. I figured I’d lose a bit of weight cutting out the sugary drinks and fast food. But nothing. I guess they weren’t a huge part of my diet. Cut drinking for a month too. Nothing. Shit is so damn stubborn, I’m legit just going to have to eat super clean. And that feels insurmountable to me. I’ve tried and failed many times. It’s the last part of the equation in my life that I need to get and I just don’t know how to solve it. Doesn’t help that on work days I work 12-14 hours. Hard to meal prep breakfast lunch and dinner for a schedule like that. I do have a good amount of time off and have meal prepped lunches, but it’s not enough apparently. Also can’t work out those days. It’s barely enough time to get home, eat and go to sleep.
krimpenrik 2y ago
Look at intermittent fasting, for me, it is the way, start skipping breakfast and when your comfortable start skipping lunch and eat 1 meal at dinner a day.
It is way easier to just not eat then to figure out what to eat every time.
And we store fat for this purpose, to burn when we don't have other fuel, use this mechanisms to burn it.

"You live as you were destined to live forever, no thought of your frailty ever enters your head, of how much time has already gone by you take no heed. You squander time as if you drew from a full and abundant supply… though all the while that day which you bestow on some person or thing is perhaps your last. You have all the fears of mortals and all the desires of immortals."

Why is this sub has a tag quarantined with it ?

Because it tells the truth...and truth has become a crime these days...and even worse, it's about men improving themselves and their lives...

I disagree with watch others do it. Reality is most people don't deserve what they have, and odds are it's a moment in time, but they won't have the resilience to stay in power more than 5 years.
I suggest a different mental exercise. Imagine someone watching you jack off, watching you waste half a day on Rollo's streams. It can be anyone you care about, for me, it's my 5 year old self. It can be your dead mom, your future self, that masculine neibour that always said you have a wet fish of a handshake. Imagine seeing their face while watching you waste your day and soak in their disappointment.

Time is the most expensive currency in any world.
cornpoke 2y ago
Yep because it is as simple as A+C - just follow someone else's steps in life and you will get to where they are and even more.
And aside from the fact every single person is different and has different cirumstances so your chances of following their path is nil.
And the contradiction about time yet you're gonna waste time looking up some other human, reading about them, copying them - talk about wasting it and being unoriginal to boot.
