There's a whole George Carlin bit on the evolution of language. English is possibly the robust and adaptive language the world has ever heard. We have perfectly good (and often redundant, i.e., Germanic and Latin) words to succinctly describe the world around us; we come up with thousands of new words every year and adopt words from other languages if necessary (e.g., schadenfreude). Why are women (who are eternally praised for being society's communicators) hellbent on making communication using a fantastic language as difficult as possible?
So let's see, when talking to women, I can't clearly express my feelings without turning them off or getting them angry. So why on Earth would I talk to them in any other manner than I would when talking to a child or just avoiding them?
Feminists have placed everyone in a no-win situation.

is there an actual study that shows evidence that women don't lead because they are afraid of being called bossy?

I'm sure some women's studies grad student interviewed some hamsters and made a thesis out of it somewhere

Being bossy enough to force others to not say the word bossy isn't weird at all. Being called bossy means that you are being called controlling. If you then try to control people calling you controlling it doesn't really excuse your behavior
