TL;DR – if you subconsciously chase security, you will always remain in mediocrity. Why obsessing over being accepted and labeling ourselves often results in stopping at the bare minimum and lacking motivation to approach women, improve, and grow. Why women typically have more controlling behaviours, and why they find mediocrity unattractive.
I want to talk a bit about the problems of seeing success as binary, and having a safety-obsessed mindset, and how that holds men back.
Binary thinking goes something like this: “I either succeed, or I fail”; “I’m either perfect, or I’m a failure”; “I’m either alpha, or I’m beta”; “I am either accepted, or rejected”. There is no in-between in this frame. This mindset is one of the main reasons why so many guys are terrified to do approaches. Defining yourself as one of two states in a binary spectrum is an indication of a security-obsessed mindset.
The Security Obsession
Growth and improvement is not about “being something”. The only people obsessed with “being something”, are those who believe that the label will give them safety. Being alpha is not a label you are awarded that somehow grants you unconditional security. In fact, obsessing over the alpha label is typical beta behaviour. Alpha is an attitude, where you have freed yourself from external influences that might cause anxiety-motivated goals. Successful men power through failure with consistency because they are not chasing after the warm and secure feeling of success, but rather pursue the limits of potential, and push hard into uncertainty without anxiety of whether people will accept them or the concern of how they will be perceived.
Why you stop improving AKA the “good enough” mindset
Being security-oriented will often cause you to improve until you reach a point of security, which you will then get comfortable in, becoming unwilling to budge from until anxiety catches up once again. Beta men are motivated to take radical action only when they believe something is expected of them – they improve out of anxiety. You must leave that mindset behind. Security obsession is an inherently feminine trait. To cultivate a habit of constant improvement, don’t strive for some goal that you believe will magically alleviate your trauma-induced chronic anxiety – strive for growth, understanding, pushing the limits of what’s possible, and exploring the ever-expanding possibilities of your potential. Go beyond what the normies consider possible and expected. This will make you attractive to both women and men.
The Security Obsession in Women
Consistently anxious people, which includes almost all women and most men, tend to pursue certain goals only because they are convinced that reaching them will finally relieve their ceaseless anxiety – this, however, never really relieves the anxiety, but it’s women’s only way of coping. This is one of the many reasons why women find micromanaging details and controlling other people very enjoyable. It’s why women so often try to control their surrounding in irrational ways – a man’s worst mistake is buying into that method and catering to their whims. Women don’t want that, because the anxiety remains. They desire a man who can go far beyond that. What women want is a man who transcends those petty worries and almost invalidates them, because a woman can admire that “unconcerned with pettiness” attitude.
One way to look at shit tests is as a manifestation of a woman’s anxiety in an attempt to test a secure frame. Most guys here know this. But to add to that, the reason why women are not interested in guys that fail shit tests, is that by doing so, you show her that you are just another security-obsessed normie, stuck in mediocrity like her, and she has enough of that on her own. Men with game are attractive, because they demonstrate they transcend social norms and the influence of public perception, and because of that can live lives that are extraordinary (which implies more intense emotional experiences) – and women want a piece of that.
\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~
If there is one takeaway here, it is that as long as you are trying “not to lose”, you will never achieve anything exceptional, since you will always be stuck on a road to safety. Instead of avoiding losing, aim for winning at the expense of comfort and security. Chasing success as a label means chasing security and safety. Don’t strive for security – strive for transcendence.

- Find out why and in what way you are caught up in adhering to the expectations of others
- Free yourself from that concern through mindfulness
- Independently determine your purposes, aiming for your personal transcendence, instead of security

Have a Transcendent day.

Overall a good post.
I couldn't agree more.
Building off this point, we live in a system that is structured towards the maintenance of the masses and the status quo, it's a good system to keep everyone mediocre and thus by operating within it you are limited to mediocrity.
This is why the standard blue pill fantasy of;
Simply doesn't work if you aspire to be anything more than another mediocre sheep. It's only by going outside the system and risking ostracism, discomfort and failure that a man can ever transcend as OP said.
Go hard or go home.
zUltimateRedditor 6y ago
Here’s the thing though, a lot of guys can’t even do that list!
I’m not denouncing what OP said. But the BP list over there would be considered above average because most guys can’t even reach that.

what do you suggest instead of going to college and getting a decent paying job?
Loquacious_Dragon 6y ago
I suggest you evaluate what you want from life and make your own decisions but i'll bite anyway.
College and a "well paying job" is the safe option, you act within the system that's in place and are rewarded with a modicum of security.
The problem is, this security comes at the cost of fixed work hours (40+ hours a week commitment) and a capped earning potential (probably 50-100k a year for most realistic positions)
If this sounds like a good prospect to you and you have no desire to be offensively rich or accomplish extraordinary things then college is the best option for you.
For me, by the time i'd finished university, i'd realised that a career sucking corporate dick wasn't worth the time or effort... and that i'd rather shoot myself in the head than do a 9-5.
So you make a realistic evaluation of your goals(for me it was);
luckily for me, i'd already had a marketable skill set to exploit, I'd been DJing since i was 8 years old and already had a small modicum of success in the industry, so i just went full time and didn't look back.
You'd have to do your own assessment on yourself...
Failing that, the de facto option for people without highly marketable skills is to save up a small amount of money and start a business, the sky is the limit.
For people with more disposable cash, there's also angel investing and day trading.
The key takeaway would be that you need to do two things;
NarrowBath7 6y ago
and hows DJing coming along as far as making bank? For every guy successful doing something like DJing there are thousands who didn't make it, who would be better off climbing that corporate ladder and then leaving off after learning about the business to start their own, getting connections to better corporations, etc
Loquacious_Dragon 6y ago
I make £50-60k every year from May to September then spend the rest of the year doing what i want.
Apart from December where i make another 20kish.
Could earn a lot more but i enjoy taking half the year off too much.
That's why i said everyone needs to do their own realistic assessment on themselves, if you want to be successful then doing the same shit that everyone else can do isn't going to work.
There's nothing wrong with the corporate route if you don't value having free time but for me it was never going to work.
I'd rather fail following a dream than be a slave.
NarrowBath7 6y ago
Yeah, it's good it worked out for you I suppose. I just could never see myself actually succeeding with something off the wall like that. I don't have any talent i've been honing since 8 that I can make money with.
EdgyRick1 6y ago
You don't need any skills to start out with, they can grow as you go (for instance, Steve Jobs didn't know jack shit and just spewed garbage all day in a coherent manner and became a billionaire). But just the fact that you said
means you are too bluepilled to be able to do it currently.
Words matter.
NarrowBath7 6y ago
bluepilled may not be the word for it. Jaded, cynical, and unconvinced of myself are probably more apt.
EdgyRick1 6y ago
No, no, my man. You gotta call it what it is, being too bluepilled. Jaded, cynical, unconvinced are all traits of having low confidence - which is the antithesis to being redpill. Even if you understand redpill on a conscious level (which you probably do), you don't believe it in terms of your values and unconscious beliefs.
NarrowBath7 6y ago
I'm just going to read the side bar and hope to hell that after a year of working on myself i'll start to see some faint light at the end of the tunnel. Though I think that's an illusion too, there never is an end. One tunnel just leads to the next. But hopefully I can travel to more rewarding tunnels.

Alright how do you want me to dress my wife for you
AleLibre 6y ago
Solid advice, thank you!
This month I started to meet women online, my strategy was to get together, have a talk and without excuses invite them to get laid on a first date.
That is what you wrote about, taking chances, no matter what.
It only took me 2 dates, the second girl said yes it was a ton of fun.

The kicker here for me is that, to think in win or loss, acting in a binary mindset and attaching our worth to either success or failure, denies us the opportunity to experience the learning zone, which is a hybrid of making mistakes and striving towards an ideal, and this cannot happen if you see yourself as a person that should only strive for ideals and NEVER makes mistakes, which is impossible, and so you get stuck. That is the key teaching in the advice of “loving the process” as it helps us forget outcomes for a moment and places us and our actions in the present so as to make us responsible for going through the motions that will harden us, rather than settling us into depression for not really clarifying that wherever we are aiming is only being used as an excuse to feel worthless.

Pretty good and inspiring post to think about it.

Amazing, thank you for the great post

Don't look towards safety.
Look towards striving for success, betterment, transcendence.
Striving for big goals gives you a wider net or chance at success.
Failing is what helps identify your true goals: identifying your weaknesses. You want to clarify those missteps; creating a feedback loop.
Either learning those skills makes more sense or you can outsource them to another person.
You don't have to be a jack of all trades if you can pay someone to deal with the problem and still be profitable.
Your mindset rules your destination.
you can be the one in action, aiming high, , working on solutions, learning valuable traits, skills and amassing fruits.
Or
You can be the one aiming low, content with a couple of fruits near safety; watching others become what you could have been.
Your mindset is what gives you power, motivation & drive.

Sucks man. All of last year, there was this girl at the gym that looked like Sansa Stark, and I swore she eyed me a couple times.
But I was too much of a pussy to approach her because of my own insecurities and she ended up being that one that got away.
Still kick myself for that.

Lol assuming you’re telling the truth, where did you meet her?
Give the details. I like FR
EPArt 6y ago
Been there missed that, it will happen a million times but an important point to note is their not even worth the squeeze or at least kicking yourself over. And I will tell you this for free I like you thought Sansa is hot. To my surprise last year couple weeks before christmas she randomly walked out of a tescos in central london I was just about to go into for a secret santa. After the initial shock the thing that stuck with me is "wow she looks really average (no make up) and also she looks miserable as fuck" And also looked older then me even though shes not. If I didnt know she was famous and I wasnt geeking out over GoT wouldnt even of gave her a second glance.
zUltimateRedditor 6y ago
I believe it. Celebrity worshipping is one of the dumbest things.
Anyone can look good when they have millions to spend on themselves. At best they are just average.
The reason why I was kicking myself was because I have a thing for redheads and usually redheads aren’t interested in guys like me.
So I felt like the stars has aligned, and I missed my shot.
But you’re right. It’ll eventually be a memory and I’ll move on. Such is life.
MilkMoney111 6y ago
Oh my man I had the same issue. I have a preference for latinas and for the longest time I could get one interested and eventually it would just fall apart. And I chalked it up to guessing latinas just weren’t in to guys like me. I realized I must’ve subconsciously been wanting it too much so I had to sit and think and force a mindset to stop caring about getting them or not. Once I stopped it seems like all I’ve been getting has been latinas. It seems like they’re exclusively in to guys like me now.
I think once you stop worrying about getting it and placing the girl in unicorn land, you are able to pick up on their IOIs much more realistically. Try to let this one go and next redhead that comes along just roll with it. If it happens great if not oh well. You gotta step back and see how they play the game. Then you play back, not with a desperate attempt to win; but just to play and have fun.
zUltimateRedditor 6y ago
What’s IOI?
Still getting used to RP terminology
MilkMoney111 6y ago
Indicators of interest. Subtle things women do to let you know they’re receptive to you. When you develop oneitis, you can become blind to those things
zUltimateRedditor 6y ago
Yeah. It could backfire too, because there are several studies that show that men many times overestimate a girls interest in them. And usually make a fool out of themselves.
Maybe I was misreading the IOI in my case at the gym. But damn, I’m still not fully recovered yet from last year and still hold out hope that I could at least get rejected and I can move on knowing it wouldn’t have worked out; finally making my peace with it.
MilkMoney111 6y ago
Yeah I wouldn’t say you were overestimating but think of it as more like you weren’t reading properly. All it takes is a little bit of intrigue from the girl and you can manifest something with that. I think most guys are too thirsty and read way too much into a woman bc they want it to be true. They sabotage themselves by coming off desperate or creepy.
Don’t beat yourself up over it, let it go and just think about the next time you get an IOI what to do with it. Again, attraction is something men have the power to build with women. And if her IOI was a glance here and there, start by giving her a smile when you catch eyes. Read her response. Then progress to small talk when near her. I’m not big on using the gym to pick up chicks unless they make it obvious bc I don’t like my workout ruined by someone trying to turn it to social hour. But if her responses seem friendly and warm, go for it.
Don’t go into it with the mindset of being rejected either. You’ve already lost. Go into it with the mindset of having fun and meeting a new person. Believe me she’ll let you know she’s interested if you read her properly. Girls are very subtle, learn to pick up on their cues, then you’ll be the guy who just gets it

My take away from this post is summed up as thus:
Don’t be the King who commands from the luxurious palace, shielding himself from the dangers of the world. Be the King who fights on the battlefield and risks it all and dies in blood and sweat.
