An idea I've come across postulated by Israeli biologist Amotz Zahavi, is that a handicap principal can be used to produce an "honest" or reliable signal between animals which have an obvious motivation to deceive each other, from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Handicap\_principle

What does this have to do with your Gold? (as a man, your Gold or your power is how you chose to spend your Time and Attention). It should be focused on yourself, first and foremost. But if a woman interests or arouses you, you may choose to grant her some of your Time and your Attention, let her into your world, etc.

The "Mode One" book I've been reading, by Alan Roger Currie, has been interesting. A point he makes is that women think of men who give away their Time and Attention like men think of women who give away their bodies; aka: a simp is to a woman what a slut is to a man, one to be held in contempt, of no value and no self respect.

So, back to Zahavian signaling. In order for a gesture or gift to be honest and valuable, in short, it must be "costly".

So, how valuable is your time?

In a self-reinforcing sense, if you *give away y***our Time and Attention easily, you **devalue it. And giving her more and more of it, as your relationship "get serious" means shit to her. (yet as we all know, the Matrix and BP conditioning tell guys to do just this: be more available, talk about the relationship more, spend more time, buy more gifts, etc; the exact opposite of what you should be doing).

Yet if you guard your Time and your Attention, and treasure it, its value is increased. So if/when you DO grant her some of your Time and Attention, it's value can be appreciated. And by extension, you as well.

TL-DR: the value of your Time and Attention is inversely proportional to how freely you give it up, and it's utility as a signal of value/fitness follows.
