TL;DR: A growth spurt in high school led to a former crush of mine finally giving me the time of day.

My first year in high school, I had a crush on this Asian girl. I did the usual blue pilled things to try to get with her like helping her with homework over the phone, greeting her on the bus, and even cheering her up when her boyfriend broke up with her. After a month she eventually messaged me some long paragraph with the usual “you’re a great ass guy and your future gf would be lucky to have you” mixed with the “you and I are from two different worlds and not right for each other” spiel and said we could be friends. Even as a kid deep in the matrix, I wasn’t interested in the friend zone. (I told myself “the fastest way to escape the friend zone is to not be friends with them”). So, I deleted her number, social media, and never contacted or started a convo with her again.

Fast forward to sophomore year and my track coach mentions I got taller. I brushed it off as normal growth (turns out I grew all the way to 6’). That same week I got out of one class and was headed to my locker. In comes the Asian girl power walking to me and for the first time ever, starting a conversation with me instead of the other way around. It entailed her saying things like “woooow, look at you! You got so tall. That’s crazy! You changed a lot.” mixed with some flirting. She did this while I was trying to walk away from her and giving one-word answers, as I had long since gotten over her. I was years away from the red pill. But, a thought that stuck in my mind was “oh, so now that I’ve changed a bit, you’re the one initiating things. Yeah I’ll pass”.

Would I have done things differently back then knowing what I know now about female nature? Probably. The signs of hypergamy were there even as a kid. I was simply blind to them.

Edit- I’m aware of how a girl becoming more attracted to a guy after previously not being attracted him isn’t a sign of hypergamy. This post is meant more to point out how girls will keep an eye out on how you change, even if they weren’t initially interested.
