Summary
Using the 4 components of:- Pathos, Logos, Ethos and finally Kairos you shall create one persuasive argument
Body
Yeah I know this isn't exactly "sexual strategy" but nonetheless no other autistic sperg subreddit will be interested in this. These principles can be used in business and in social situations in certain cases.
In these scenarios I am a producer of wine. And trying to persuade a grape farmer/salesman (fool) to sell me his grapes for cheaper. The fool's business is currently not doing great.
Pathos
What is it? Pathos is the appeal to emotions. It is when we stir up the AUDIENCE'S emotions. When we play to them, it neatly links to Law#32 of the 48 laws of power
Law#32 Play to people's fantasies
"The truth is often avoided because it is ugly and unpleasant. Never appeal to truth and reality unless you are prepared for the anger that comes from disenchantment. Life is so harsh and distressing that people who can manufacture romance or conjure up fantasy are like oases in the desert: Everyone flocks to them. There is great power in tapping into the fantasies of the masses. "
By appealing to one's emotions/fantasies we can create a powerful argument. For example if there is a failing business and we convince them to sell their product to me for a cheaper price, and in return I'll give them more customers. I will appeal to their fantasy of their business becoming great again, I present myself as the saviour. Also neatly ties into the concept of when asking for favours appeal to the other party's interests rather than their mercy. Anyways that is pathos. Appeal to emotion.
Lifetopic you sperg, how is that an appeal to emotion?
Certain emotions like pride are very hard to control. Ambition is a powerful one too. In this example I appeal to both ambition and pride.
Logos
What is it? Logos is the appeal to logic. Realistically when making a persuasive argument you can't make some retarded points which make no sense. People aren't that stupid, even the common man can sense a trick from a logical view a mile away. At most we can try to use logical fallacies to trick the person, but be warned it may not always work. In my opinion logos is the hardest one to appeal to, especially if you are doing it purely for your self interest. There are a whole list of logical fallacies, I won't be going into them.
Example of Logos
Lifetopic:- Well sell me your grapes for £2 a kilogram rather than the rate of £3.
Fool:- Why? I'll be making less profit?!
Lifetopic:- You won't be though? Consider this logically. Selling me grapes for cheaper allows me to sell my product for cheaper too. Allowing more customers to buy my product, increasing the demand and hence allowing me to buy more grapes off you again. It's a positive feedback loop
Fool:- Surely if you buy more grapes, that'll only compensate for the cheaper price for grapes? I've not gained any profit
Lifetopic:- Don't be a fool. Do you want your business to fail or not? Allowing more people to buy my wine, will just widen my customer base -> thus widening yours. The already regular customers will be buying more wine, and now the new customers will be buying wine too. Hence you'll be making more profit. This is a good step for both of us.
Fool:- Ok, I see the benefit.
Note In this example there would be much better ways to manipulate this situation. Such as limiting the options of the fool. By suggesting lower prices as the days go on. Example on week 1 I offer him £2.50 a kg. He refuses, week 2 I offer £2.40, week 3 £2.30. Etc. Assuming the fool needs me more than I need him.
Ethos
What is it? It's the appeal to character. No not personal character. It's using someone with a reputation/character to help prove your point based on their character. An example being when shampoo adverts use attractive women to advertise their products. It is an appeal to character. The attractive women are used in order to create the assumption that if women use that product they'll end up attractive like that.
Example of Ethos
Lifetopic:- So farmer, I have also helped others like you.
Richer fool:- Yes farmer, Lifetopic's deals are very good. He will improve your business so much more! It's true he simply needs cheaper grapes, so he can produce more of his wine to sell to his customers
Fool:- Well the rich farmer does seem to agree. Sure!
Breakdown
Yes it is very very over-simplified. But the point is, using others and their reputations to help make your point will make you ever more appealing. Having backing from the FDA for your scientific paper will make you much more appealing than having backing from a group of anti-vaxers.
Now lets talk about anti-vaxers before we get onto Kairos
Jumping back to logos. Logic isn't actually universal to all cultures and societies. In fact what may appeal logical to us is in fact not logical to others. Such as vaccines and how they work. Explaining vaccines and using evidence from the FDA to persuade a bunch of anti-vaxers would be a fruitless excericse. They wouldn't see/believe the logic as they don't trust the FDA to begin with. None of what we say would make sense to them.
Therefore when appealing to logos you must be aware of your audience. The same really applies to pathos and ethos too.
Kairos
What is it? Kairos is the perfect moment. When you get the timing correct. Kairos is arguably the most important aspect. Kairos guides all 3 of the other aspects. Without kairos your argument will crumble.
Example of kairos
Well our scenario is the fool's business is not doing well. Therefore it would be best to present to him the argument of why selling his grapes for cheap to me would be an excellent business move. If I was to appeal to the fool when his business was doing great, there'd be less of a chance of me getting a good deal. I'd have needed the fool more than he needed me.
Take-aways
-
Ethos, pathos and logos are used to make effective arguments. The best arguments combine all 3. You need to be specific to your audience.
- Kairos is needed. Without the perfect timing, you'll fail.

Really love the ideas. Structure of the topic is great. Saved. Just one thing? I am sorry if this sounds like me asking you to feed me with a spoon, but in law 38 play with people fantasies, how one can identify what are their fantasies.?
LifeTopic 7y ago
Look for contrasts. Find ones thumbscrews.
Example:- A girl who is a major prude or acts like one. The reality is, deep down inside she is looking for a man who will whisk her away and fill in the void which is loneliness.
Loneliness and need for success are quite common fantasises. People want some saviour. Be that guy
hazelstein 7y ago
I stumbled upon this girl, but she was rude as fuck. Loneliness is strong emotion. Way to strong in fact. How do you connect with a girl so that you can find if she is lonely?
LifeTopic 7y ago
Girls are actually really boring people. They don't really have hobbies or a mission in life. So they fill it with idle things like chatter and socialising with friends. They get into relationships to fill in that gap.
All girls are lonely, rememeber the contrasts thing I said? So the girl who seems to have loads of friends and whatnot, she probably is lonely. Her friends and her probably only have a shallow relationship.
hazelstein 7y ago
my god. The truth in those words. I couldn't agree more. Her fantasies are also based on the emotions you feed her. Slow(Grounded) Caring Masculine emotions can put her right in the place.
RStonePT 7y ago
A small nitpick, logos isn't logic, but the appearance of logic. It's fast and loose enough that one can still use it and convince people 911 was an inside job.
Also, they are in a heirarchy, ethos > pathos > logos for persuasiveness. Woe be the guy who tries to logic his way in a girls pants

Eh? How did cave dwellers plant explosives? How did the NYPD find a passport from a hijacker on the ground after the planes evaporated? How did every single line of defence fail, including interceptions that are automatic when losing communication with an airplane? How did a flimsy and weak aluminium hull penetrate a whole outer wing of the Pentagon? How did the hijackers perform maneuvers that trained pilots find nearly impossible, while being "incompetent" in a small 4 seat Cessna airplane? Why does no one know about building 7, that is an obvious demolition and goes against the NIST report description on nearly every aspect?

How did it fall symmetrically at free fall speed without having the support columns detonated at exactly the same time? How did the fire cause it to begin with, when that never happens?
Why does there seem to be more reasons that the official narrative is a conspiracy theory, while a domestic orchestrated event seems obvious after being exposed to the mountains of evidence?

9/11 is the ultimate test for low IQ, and blue pilled political normies. The US World Empire has on occasion murdered its own people to advance the interests of its own plutocracy. The idea the US government is a moral or ethical vehicle is a laughable one. Let alone its government and intelligence agencies that employ torture, black sites on American soil, citizens.
In terms of 9/11 there are multiple, numerous sources which show complicity by the US and its allies.
Source: The 28-Pages Are Way Worse Than I Thought -
Source: Why Indeed Did the WTC Buildings Completely Collapse? By Dr. Steven E. Jones Physicist and Archaeometrist
Or hell, what did the people working the 9/11 Commission say themselves?
Source: The Kissinger Commission
For reference for most illiterates, Kissinger was a former intelligence officer for the OSS/CIA/army intelligence and worked directly under another criminal scumbag named Allen Dulles as his language officer during WWII. Dulles himself the longest serving civilian director of the CIA and director of the Rockefeller-Schroeder Bank for 15 years.
Source: The 9/11 Commission Didn’t Believe the Government … So Why Should We?
Not even the 9/11 commission agreed with the government, some even wanted to criminally prosecute the government for trying to bury the truth.

I have a degree in civil engineering (Buildings, Bridges, Roads, etc.).
I can assure you, unequivocally, that those buildings were brought down by controlled demolition. The same way they bring down old hotels in Vegas. No way jet fuel burning on the top floors would have ANY effect on the load bearing columns on the floors below.
No as to who did it and what their motivations were ... I'll let you mass debate among yourselves. But no way did those buildings come down because of the planes. Impossible.

You've added a lot of structure here which doesn't help increase clarity.
Great writing makes ideas easy to understand. Resist the temptation to sort, organize, classify, generalize, or sytematize in ways that don't aid clarity.
Less is more.

Thank you, I'll bear that in mind next time if I write a post!

I was thinking something similar. I do love the direction OP took with this lesson. Sales is a skill. There are tactics that can be learned.
Let me share an invaluable tip:
Sell the sizzle, not the steak
unnaturalcontrol 7y ago
" Sell the sizzle, not the steak "
I would love to see you elaborate on this.
redpillcad 7y ago
people dont respond to hearing a laundry list of features. They do respond ro benefits they accrue
Sell me a washer: Wrong way is explaining the different cycles and water volume etc Right way is telling me how good ill look on vleaner clothes. How much time ill save for my super fast garment cleaner
Got it?

Pathos - appeal to emotions ~ = increasing SMV, AA, AM, Hamster, Dread. "...It is when we stir up the AUDIENCE'S emotions. When we play to them..."
Logos - the appeal to logic ~ = increasing SMV, have a mission, be the Captain, lead.
Ethos - appeal to character ~ = preselection. "...using someone with a reputation/character to help prove your point..."
Kairos - the perfect moment ~ = in the bar when she's looking to have a good time, when she's ovulating, when you say the right thing to her, "When you get the timing correct."

Influence by Cialdini is kind of the bible of persuasion.
Scott Adams' Win Bigly does a really good job taking the principles of persuasion and illustrating it with current political events.
Doesn't matter what order you read them in.

People confuse debate and persuasion. It's possible you treat these one in the same as well. But they couldn't be more different.
You can win a debate and persuade nobody.
In fact, that's usually the case.
Debate is persuasion minus the Pathos, Ethos and Kairos. Or in other words, debate without the important stuff.
Unpersuasive people always blame their inability to persuade on the other person not following 'the rules'. What they mean is they suck at everything other than Logos (and in reality probably suck at that too) and can't persuade anyone not constrained to their logos safe space.
A common mistake internet nerd types make is looking up books on debate, which are usually just dictionaries of fallacies, thinking it will make them more persuasive. I'm sure you've all encountered the annoying "fallacy guy" that's as persuasive as a dodo. Don't be fallacy guy.
That's good to have in your back pocket and for your own internal thinking skills. But for persuasion it's all about emotion.
Humans make their decisions emotionally in a split second then spend the bulk of their time rationalizing it with logos. Trying to change their position with logos is fighting an upward losing battle.

How to make a persuasive argument.
If they REALLY want to be convinced, they shall be convinced.
If they dont, you are wasting precious time.
Anything in between is using sound logic, appealing to emotion and debunking counter arguments.
In the case of wamen, logic is null and void, do not bother. The only possible method is to appeal to Pathos, which you should always keep in mind is a unreliable makeshift bomb that can blow up in your face.
