I was asked to write about this in a previous post I made on here. Now I have been lurking TRP for almost a year now and have made tremendous changes. It's opened my eyes and made me leave a relationship I thought would satisfy my needs. After reading all the theory, I saw how all women think, and yes AWALT. I went into monk mode because I was disgusted with my BP mindset and wanted to change it up. My result of coming out of monk mode has blown my mind. So you're probably going to want to know how to blow your own mind, lets start with the basics. This will be a long post but you're going to want to read this. It's hard, but I'll do it all over again if I have to because the rewards are amazing. Practice at your own risk.
-Your basics: DIET and lots of water. In health care, you have your Maslow's Pyramid of needs. Your foundation will be food, water, and air. Set up a strong foundation with a good diet to fit your health needs.
-Clean up your lifestyle: Up from your foundation is your Shelter. So clean it the fuck up. Not just your room/house but your outfit(s) and your car. This will help you go a long way.You can't progress further into monk mode success until you meet these needs.
Now we go more advance. My goal of monk mode is to become truly happy being alone and instill the abundance mindset in reality.
-Women don't exist in this time period. No Tinder, no day game, nothing. You truly focus on yourself. The timing on this varies for each person. It's when you feel truly happy with yourself and you love yourself. I needed 4 months.
-Your bros: you need them. Spend your time with those who are socially or economically steps above you. Build connections in reality, none of that Bumble BFF's bullshit.
-Work your ass off. If you want to go the entrepreneur route like I did, then you better be working a job to help fund that. Stay fucking busy. I worked two nursing jobs and had my business to operate. Otherwise, work as much as you can and you will forget that you're even doing monk mode.
-WORK OUT: You will read "Just lift" on this website everywhere. It's true. I clocked at least 1.5 hours in the gym daily. I love the gym and I get agitated when I have to miss a day of working out. The gym is not free time. It is mandatory.
-Fix your health problems. I have a bad knee from years of soccer as a child and chronic acne since I was 18. I'm 24 now and took care of these in my monk period. Say what you want about prescription acne meds, but it's cheap and not having acne has increased my SMV significantly.
-NO porn. No porn by any means. Porn is mental poison. If you can't resist the urge the watch porn, then go read other guides because you're not ready for monk unless you're able to control yourself which is a RP basic.
-Jerking off is okay, to a degree. I'm a Registered Nurse and have done countless studies, using credible sources, that shows that jerking off is okay to an extent. Now this was at the start of my monk and I didn't save these sources. I'm not going to look for them because I have a business to operate. Real RP'd men know how to control themselves and not being able to resist the urge to jerk off means you can't do that. I would do it every other week or every month simply to meet my basic physiological needs. But by no means would I do it while I was urged.
-Explore different shit: This is IF you happen to run across some free time. It's okay to be bored during this time. It happened a few times to me. But you're trying to make yourself happy now and being bored will bring you down. I discovered that I wanted to sing like Danny Worsnop does in Asking Alexandria's first two albums. So I've been practicing doing that and I have a lot of fun without spending a dime.
-Have some fun in the time. No girls. Nope. But hang out with your boys or even lift with them (you'll have to lift for longer because your boys will distract you in the gym). This period does feel like you're working yourself to the maximum and can be psychologically draining so you will need to unwind. If you want to play video games, it's okay but don't overdo it. An hour or two is okay.
-No drugs (besides prescription) and no alcohol. No exceptions. Getting high/drunk will hold you back and you will make no progress. If all your friends drink or get high, then do the next step.-Cut out anything holding you back. I did it. I haven't looked back.-Family is important. Connect with your parents, siblings, etc.
-Keep reading TRP and build your knowledge. Once you are done with making yourself happy, then you start practicing all that theory you learned. That is how you instill the abundance mentality.
It's taken me days to write this. But this is how I did my monk mode. So what is my life like? I have four friends with benefits, three sources of income, work out as much as I can (I get called in a few times), I'm always spending my time with someone/some people, I'm studying a third language, my mood is always 7/10 or above.
Edit: Formatting got screwed up and I forgot to add something.
zachpw 6y ago
What are your sources of income?
fastnail 6y ago
A great read.
The best Monk mode I have ever read was illimitable man.
Google "illimitable man Monk mode"...lots of other great resources there too.
zachpw 6y ago
One thing you have to be careful with is too much isolation. Monk mode seems to be focused on that but you have to make sure you still have contact with people.
[deleted] 6y ago
The purpose of monk mode is for monk mode to ultimately become your default modus operandi in life and eventually incorporate girls into it.
priapula 6y ago
How the fuck did you forget meditation and reading?
[deleted]
ThatOneDrunkUncle 6y ago
This topic has been beaten to death here. You neglected reading and meditation. Also drinking socially, especially in professional situations is great, you'll look like a hardo otherwise. Also weed is fine to relax or for creative purposes. I smoke 2 or 3 times a month and I find it beneficial. But moderation is key of course.
Monk mode was literally the best time of my life. I felt great about every day, who I was becoming and my rising market value. It was fun to actually turn down girls for sex, and I came out fucking prepared to spin plates and continue improving. Highly recommend at least six months of monk mode.
Lantisca 6y ago
Any books you recommend? Anyone else that may see this comment recommend?
elogie423 6y ago
"Thick face black heart" is like machiavelli with modern examples and much more applicable detail. It is an adaptation of age old eastern philosophy with worldly awareness.
Second How to win friends and influence people. Great read. And Meditations by Aurelius. Two quick, good manuals.
Anything that teaches you about systems of human interaction is great. I love love love World Order by Henry Kissenger. This would be my top recommendation. It sparked a huge interest in history for me and showed me how we live deeply embedded in the legacy of those who came before us, and how many seemingly disparate events are merely different pieces of a common pattern. It tied together narrative of an art history book I had read previously about human civilization.
Anything philosophical, rooted in theories of argument are very helpful in understanding how to communicate. I enjoy reading C.S. Lewis' theology works. Just finished Mere Christianity by him. I appreciate theology, because it helps you understand HUGE motivating factors for others, regardless of your own beliefs. He is a brilliant man who has a knack for making nearly Socratic arguments that almost completely make sense. Bonus points if you can pick out where his logic falls apart (he hides it very well). Always be vigilant when reading him and any other writing about dogmas, meaning watch your reaction to the ideas presented, and understand how your mind is affected by others. I want to get through the classic greek philosophers soon, and fundamental modern philosophy from like 1850 onward.
Any biographical works of world leaders are great. Finished a book about Churchill during wwii recently. Walk in the footsteps of great men, so to speak. Currently looking to find more about early 20th century european leaders. Shit was a crazy time, yo.
Malcolm Gladwell has good books, but I got tired of his mumbo jumbo because Ive read all that many many times before. Nonetheless I would recommend Outliers by him if this is unfamiliar material to you. This also offers a look into the patterns of successful people, which is important to understand. Don't get sucked into reading about great people, though. It feels good and productive but only offers value until you have a familiar working baseline of knowledge about these topics.
Just read more. Even if you dont like the book its good for your brain and gives you a network of data points to make more and more mental connections. Stay away from fiction for this period, though, unless it's a hugely culturally relevant work, or thoroughly challenging (for example Crime and Punishment by that russian fucker).
Just read, and not only that but make it a habit. And that's the hard part. Also being conscious and present while reading. Last night two different girls were texting me, but I wanted to read Between the World and Me instead of hang out and spend money with people who had nothing but pussy to offer. Ignored them, Finished the book and it was a great night.
Also, theres a series of books called "A Very Short Introduction" that cover topics from american political parties and elections, to buddhism, music, religious extremism and quantum theory. Theyre only a few bucks on amazon and are a great starting point with further references for your interests.
Pick one. Read it. Like it - or don't, but be better for it regardless. Read more. Talk to people (in a not.douchey way) about what you're learning. Find what interests you. This takes trial and error and error. Don't let reading be the end goal. It can be another form of mental masturbation. Oh, and lift, too.
Best of luck brother, would love to hear back if you get to any of these books.
nobrowal 6y ago
How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie is helping me during my current monk mode
[deleted] 6y ago
Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa. Goddamned thicker than War and Peace, but awesome for understanding the journey.
JonathanMekerset 6y ago
fuck off. Weed is not "ok" for relaxing or "creative purposes." It's something that will UNDERMINE, and by undermine I mean COMPLETELY FUCK UP your drive.
I agree you should read good books and meditate. Drinking socially, fuck off with that shit. Alcohol is not good, period.
ThatOneDrunkUncle 6y ago
You "fuck off". It will not UNDERMINE anything if you're disciplined, just like anything else. And apparently you're in a profession that doesn't require networking or office cohesion or courting clients.
And who the fuck doesn't drink at all? You sound like a psychopath.
abudun79 6y ago
Do the world a favor and get a vasectomy, if it did not already happen. Just to be sure.
sendek888 6y ago
Drinking raises estorogen and lowers testosterone
Have fun making gains with that
I’m tryin make gains not get man tits
JMW1237 6y ago
Yeah that guy is weird. You can be ripped and party if you do it in moderation. That kind of all or nothing attitude is off putting
[deleted]
satlinrabbow 6y ago
I dont drink, or rarely drink. get fucked. and no, you should not be doing drugs, weed or otherwise, what the fuck is wrong with you?
[deleted]
JMW1237 6y ago
You sound angry. You can drink and smoke and still be ripped, improve, etc. obviously you have to be smart and exercise moderation.
What a weird all or nothing outlook. Drinking socially is fun as fuck.
JonathanMekerset 6y ago
When I see this shit it does make me angry. Because it’s usually made by people who have no idea about the negative effects of letting these things get out of hand and are spreading the false information that these things are perfectly ok to do.
Drinking socially? As with weed, up to you. Alcohol is literally poison. Can fuck up your gains, lowers testosterone levels over time, and commonly leads to kidney disease. Also far too many people rely on it as a social crutch.
If you have the frame, no one’s gonna care if you don’t drink.

BrownGummyBear 6y ago
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dorian Yates would like to have a word with you. What’s actually sad is to be so misinformed about cannabis in this day and age.
JonathanMekerset 6y ago
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dorian Yates were already successful AND on steroids (which give you endless energy and drive). What’s your point?
I smoked weed twice a week for a year and at one point every day. I became very paranoid, had shitty memory, and no motivation to do anything. It is not good for you. CBD on the other hand...
BrownGummyBear 6y ago
Because your experience with cannabis is a good representation of how others will react ????
JonathanMekerset 6y ago
Just tryna help you out bro. If you aren't where you want to be yet you honestly shouldn't be using vices, they're just hindering your progress.
BrownGummyBear 6y ago
I’m a medicinal patient. It literally causes me feet pain to just WALK, never mind train. I vape everyday, I also do it before going to the gym or going for a long run as it makes the pain bearable. It also makes eating my 6 daily meals a breeze as it makes me hungry enough to eat what I need in order to keep growing.
You’re not helping at all with your moralistic “don’t use vices mkaaaay” position. Dorian Yates used cannabis, Arnold Schwarzenegger used to smoke, Carl Sagan used to love his ganja, there’s plenty more successful men who have partake. “BUT HEY, VICES ARE BAD MKAAAY?”
CatK20 6y ago
I agree with this POV from a personal and medical standpoint. It's gotten me very far very fast, but I can see why some would need it.
[deleted] 6y ago
Well majority of us don't have this option, hence we are here.
one_eyed_zoro 6y ago
You always have the option, but I'm assuming you mean opportunity. However, I bet you have had more opportunities than you realize. The biggest thing holding any man back from sex is the man himself.
[deleted]
ThatOneDrunkUncle 6y ago
Live in the gym, ruthlessly Machiavelli your way on top of social circles, do fun shit. You'd be surprised.
[deleted] 6y ago
Pick 1. 2 if you have special powers. I've known people like this, never saw them having luck with the girls if they weren't hot.
leviathan51 6y ago
Bro, just shut the fuck up and learn.
cumfortably_dumb 6y ago
I am familiar with Machiavelli and his ways but have always been interested in the Dark Triad.
The question is if i go down the path of Machiavellism, Do i risk being part of the Dark triad(I dont know if its good or bad). Please share your thoughts on this. Thanks in advance, Drunk Uncle.
ThatOneDrunkUncle 6y ago
You're born a psychopath and narcissist or you're not. Dark Triad isn't something you're part of. It's personality traits. And no, it's not necessarily bad. All I'm saying to do is pick the right people to be friends with, game them, and be high in the social hierarchies.
cumfortably_dumb 6y ago
umm yeah, But prince is a boring read. other ways to become a Machiavellian apart from reading prince?
redpillskeptic 6y ago
The 48 laws of power, particularly his explanation of why "power" is of concern to you even if one doesn't consider himself a manipulative person (i.e so you can recognize manipulative behavior in others).
cumfortably_dumb 6y ago
That's really a good point. Thanks for your comment
CatK20 6y ago
I mentioned reading TRP, this was my source of reading material since I'm so busy and don't have much free time anyway. I shouldve thrown meditation in there because I forgot that I meditate during my stretch before my workout. I can't vouch for marijuana since I've seen many people lose drive & ambition because of the drug. Not to mention it naturally makes me anxious after I do it.
I recommend six months, but it can be done sooner as I did it in less. But yes, I definitely see myself doing this process in the future. It's amazing.
htbf 6y ago
If you don't have time to read during monk mode, how are you gonna have time to spin plates outside of monk mode? What part of your schedule are you gonna drop?
CatK20 6y ago
I read TRP which is close enough. I keep my plates waiting for me but one of the most common complaints from them is that I never make time for them. And it's true, but I don't give a shit. Yet they only want more. But that's for a whole different post. I'm not dropping my schedule for no girl.
htbf 6y ago
Reading TRP is not close enough to reading all sorts of book. There is more to life than sex.
Anf you didn't answer the question whatsoever. How can you not have time for reading during monk mode? What are you doing during monk mode that takes so much time that you don't do outside of monk mode?
CatK20 6y ago
It's already answered, read again. I worked two nursing jobs and I own a business. I already said that I prioritized going to the gym as something that needed to be done daily. I don't know if you know much about owning a small business, but there's a lot to do.
htbf 6y ago
I understand that. I just don't know how you're gonna be able to leave monk mode.
CatK20 6y ago
I left Monk after I was 100% satisfied with how new baseline was set up. That being said, I am still awfully busy. This only means that when I get time to game, I give it 100%, and I don't fail. I make sure of it.
caunteris2 6y ago
why everyone is looking for a fucking guide and suggesting adapting the same mindset? do what's best for you to enjoy your life fully
NightwingTRP 6y ago
> I'm a Registered Nurse and have done countless studies,
Whut?....
CatK20 6y ago
I have medical experience and have done studies regarding the topic I wrote about in this quote
NightwingTRP 6y ago
You have personally performed wanking studies....
I have no words. This is almost up there with the time some guy was on here talking about scientific studies trying to turn straight men gay so he wouldn't have to deal with women anymore. Almost.
CatK20 6y ago
I've heard countless arguments about how wanking decreases your testosterone and other things. So I decided to look into it.
BostonPillParty 6y ago
Besides the two holy grails of Monk Mode posts that are easy to find, I like one part of your post which isn’t often talked about.
When you commit to this period of time, it is a great time to look at the items on your “not urgent” list you can do that will improve yourself, your health, or your looks. The aacutane (permanent acne cure) is one of these things that most North Americans with insurance can get easily, for low cost, and use follow for the required time period (I think it was 3 months the last time I checked). During this three month period a lot of drying, grossness, and other unpleasant symptoms are present. But if you are in monk mode and not doing your normal routine of things and outings then this shouldn’t be an issue.
Point being: monk mode is a great time to tidy up or get to those things that will improve you but may time time, or have a recovery time. Need surgery? Get it. Taking Acutane? Do it while you’re not going out while you can, do it doesn’t interfere when monk mode is over. Need ortho work? Bang it out.
Thanks for sharing

I think I posted one link in the comments below, it looks like another one was removed or I’m enable to find that. Google illimitable men Monk Mode
CatK20 6y ago
Thank you. I too felt as if that was not talked about often and thought that it was important to add.
But I didn't do acutane! It's just not my preference, I went with retin-a and I love the results from that. I've gotten a vibe from TRP that anti-acne meds are looked down upon here and I should resort to natural or OTC solutions. I tried them but I've never had success after five years of trying. This was the other huge part of why I decided to add this into my post.
Sinjhin 6y ago
What two posts are you referencing? I am not seeing them in the sidebar and would like to take a gander.
BostonPillParty 6y ago
https://illimitablemen.com/2014/04/13/monk-mode/
I can’t seem to find the other one...but this was the better of the two imo

juju515 6y ago
is it really permanent? and does it work for your whole body? my face is OK, but I have acne problems on my shoulders and upper back...
ps. this is the first time hearing about this drug... just googling it now..
BostonPillParty 6y ago
Yes! This product is a cure, not a treatment!
Sinjhin 6y ago
I used it when I was in highscool. It works. The side effects are pretty horrendous though.
If I remember it was like 3 months of severe depression and skin so dry I felt like my face was peeling off. Afterwards though, sex incarnate. 11/10 totally worth it if you can stand the side-effects for the treatment period.
juju515 6y ago
how long do you have to use it...? does it have to be 3+ months or is it "until acne are gone"...?
Sinjhin 6y ago
I don't remember, sorry. I think it was around three months for me though. This was quite a while ago.
ariky 6y ago
I have been in monk mode recently without actually trying it.
I am an entrepreneur and I’ve been preparing for an investment meeting for very long time. So I have always busy with my dream job. Being head of a team is a real deal because I am the leader and I both plan the works to be done and also I motivate others.
I stopped porn and jerking for approximately +40 days and incredibly I cured my oneitis almost totally (yes the girl from 2.5 years back. It happens but at least with TRP you can cure and heal yourself).
IDGAF is the truth. I don’t give a fuck to what others do and what they think about what I do. Their fucking opinions are to themselves. Who really cares? Basically start with social media. Try to cut it off. I also unfollowed many people even though they follow me and like my posts on Instagram. Fuck. I just don’t care about you. So why do I keep a contact with you or see you? Then apply this rule to the real life and cut contact with blue pilled men.
I have some health problems that aren’t visible to people on the first sight. I seem like a tall 25 years old man. I have a bit extra fat on the stomach and belly. I don’t lift and that’s the biggest point I am currently missing.
Going to gym is really frustrates me. I know I probably won’t have a muscled body because of that. So what I do is instead I go to swimming. That’s more fun and also I put some real effort so it’s compensating my handicap a bit.
ImpressiveDig 6y ago
swimming is great man. personally i don't like going to gyms and doing weights (even though admitting this here is probably blasphemy).
i enjoy sports and cardio more so I play soccer twice a week and swim twice a week, cut out all junk (moderate as much as possible) and i'm in good shape.
good luck with your investment meeting dude i'm sure you'll get good news.
ariky 6y ago
Hey thank you for your good wishes ????
lobstergenocide 6y ago
swimming is great, while you may not get as big as pure lifting you can still make mad gains and there is definitely a big contingent of girls that go for the ottermode fit/cut dudes - there's a reason girls always go wild for the swimmers when the Olympics are on
CatK20 6y ago
At least you're working out. Just delete your social media, it's useless.
ariky 6y ago
I’m using that shit for serious business (not for advertising) so I can’t at the moment. But I agree it’s useless. ????????
itoshirt 6y ago
Does your local gym have a sauna/hot tub? That's what keeps me coming back, besides the body high you get after lifting.
ariky 6y ago
Thanks but hot water and hot weather increase the pain on my feet and legs.
itoshirt 6y ago
That's unfortunate, usually it helps with that sort of thing by decreasing inflammation.
andrewmaster0 6y ago
so basically just live your life and improve yourself, which is what we should be doing
CatK20 6y ago
To a degree... Too many bros like to watch porn and do countless other self-destroying acts which drastically decreases their SMV
andrewmaster0 6y ago
you’re right tbh. Amen to that my man
victor_knight 6y ago
One of the main indicators of a genuine monk is that he doesn't give a rat's ass if other men are also going monk or not and it doesn't bother him in the least either way. How many of you guys really qualify?
ariky 6y ago
Yes I can’t get big enough by swimming but it really helps. Thank you all guys!
I promise I will hit the gym after my recovery is finished.
JustSatan 6y ago
How did you take care of your bad knee? I have a similar problem and beyond getting an MRI (my PCP didn't feel the need to give me a referral), I'm not sure what to do. Been doing consistent, moderate exercise, but it still bothers me. Any suggestions?
CatK20 6y ago
I'm supposed to have surgery because of my patella and a whole list of other reasons... But I can manage by using a special brace only when I'm putting my knee through extreme tension, like playing soccer.
StevoSupremo1313 6y ago
Ever hear of the Tibialis Anterior? It's a small muscle along the shin. Training it to get stronger it basically absorbs kinetic shock from movement. Really helps protect a knee issue. Also, if the knee bothers you while decelerating or decending, strengthing the hamstrings will help. Any questions I can answer!
JustSatan 6y ago
Thanks - I'll look into figuring out how to strengthen the Tibialis Anterior. Def gonna try to focus on hamstrings more, too. Much appreciated.
