Summary:
Having a deep voice indicates high testosterone which is why it turns women on. This is a simple guide with daily excercises that deepens your voice and lets you speak louder and clearer. It might seem to good to be true that it is this easy to fix your voice, but try it out. If you suffer from the same problems as I had you won't be dissapointed with the results.
Body:
I used to have a weak, high pitched voice that make me anxious to speak to groups of people and women. Opening my mouth and having a hard time letting out words made me nervous wich made the problem even worse by making my vocal chords even more tense than what they alredy were.
I constantly had to repeat myself to people and seemed to put off people from talking to me or adressing me.
I realised that if my gains in the gym, my nice clothes and practice on game was going to raise my SMV to where I wanted it to be, I needed had to change my voice. After looking up speech therapists and how much that cost I thought of learning it myself by finding information online.
Here I will present what worked for me and what should work for you, after I applied these excercies I noticed change in my voice after 2 days, after 3 weeks I consider myself to have a long way to go but I'm way more confident when I open my mouth and the nervousness that I get from speaking has turned into confidence, applying my new voice into conversation and training it to keep up.
There are two keys to a deeper, low pitch and confident voice; Breathing and neck muscles.
Breathing with your upper chest and throat gives you a nasal, high pitch voice because you are putting to much pressure on your vocal chords. Learning how to breathe with your diaphragm takes that pressure off the vocal chords. If you like me never learned how to breathe with it, it will take some time to not only be able to control the diaphragm but also to use it while having a conversation with someone.
To try this out, read something out loud like you normally would, then pinch your nose and read it again. If you find yourself having trouble speaking while holding your nose or your voice sounds weird its because you are speaking to much with your vocal chords and not by using your diaphragm.
To take control over your diaphragm and the way you breath you have to do this excercise two times a day, this will have the biggest impact on your voice.
Exercise 1:
Stand up with a good posture and take a deep breath while keeping your chest and head still. Push your stomach out as much as possible while inhaling. At first this will feel odd but after some time you will start getting familiar with this new way of breathing using the diaphragm which you are automatically using while you are pushing your stomach out. You will eventually learn how to use the diaphragm without pushing your stomach out but it might take a while to get that muscle control.
Exercise 2:
The second key as i mentioned is neck muscles. If you are breathing with your throat and chest and have a high pitch voice you probably have to much tension going on in your neck. By doing neck excercises these muscles get stronger and overall more relaxed.
I recommend this neck exercise: Lay on a bed or bench with the top of your shoulders and head hanging off, facing upwards. Relax your neck muscles and let your head hang down towards the floor, lift your head up as long as you can. Do this 12-15 times and rest, 3-4 sets is enough 2 times a day.
Don't go crazy, you don't want to injure your neck so take it slow in the beginning.
Exercise 3:
Next excercise is the same but opposite. Sit up and let your head hang down so your chin touches your chest, put your hands on the back of your head and put some pressure on it while moving your head backwards. Do this for 12-15 times, 3-4 sets 2 times a day.
Conclusion:
These are the essentials and makes for a good daily routine to help you relax your voice, you can google for more excercises but in my experience these were good enough for these purposes. As I stated I noticed a hugh difference after 2 days of doing this but I couldn't keep my deeper voice for very long untill I was back to tensing my neck and breathing with my chest, keeping up with the excercises and you will keep improving witch will leave you with another obstacle, which is using this voice while in a social setting and keeping up with it.

I am a voice teacher. I'll try to keep this short:
The body expresses the emotional state. Any work on the body should be alignment and relaxation. You don't need to strengthen your neck - it holds your head up all day just fine. This frees the body up to fully express your internal state, so even if you've done the work if you're fearful you're going to express fear. Get that abundance mentality down boys. Breathing is as easy as breathing into your balls/taint/legs - whatever image works for you. Your chest and shoulders don't really move when you breathe deeply (like a baby).
STRETCH Major tension zones are hips, shoulders, neck, and jaw. Always breathe into the places you're relaxing.
RESONATORS Your voices resonates in your bones and cavities. Do these breathing deeply and without tensing up. As you move from low to high in your body the pitch will rise. If you have trouble with the breath, but an "h" at the front of all this (huzz, vuzz, humm, hing, etc).
You should be able to do this in 5 min. Like lifting, the gains won't sit without maintenance so you'll have to do this warm up every day.
I do a fuller warmup when I act, but this kind of work allows me to play in a 3,000 seat house or outdoors without being mic-ed and without straining.

This is much more useful than the original post. Please consider posting this as a post of its own. I think bringing this to attention will help many.

Thanks for this. Very helpful.

I beg to differ: I have a deep voice and yet I lack the usual indicators of high testosterone (square jaw, muscular body). I think that a deep voice is associated with maturity. Indeed, children have squeaky voices, compared to adults. Men's voice deepens with age -- I even learned about an aging tenor singer having to learn how to sing as a baritone -- and we know that testosterone decreases with age.
Anyway, instead of just learning from written instructions, I recommend that you hire a voice coach or -- if you can't afford it -- join a choir.
testonator 9y ago
Testosterone is responsible for the growth of the vocal chords in puberty, they wont grow smaller just because you get lower T with age.

scottlapier 9y ago
Another thing to remember is to speak slowly and with some volume. Not too loud, not too fast.
thewrightstuff88 9y ago
Try this: Hold your nose and read something. If you detect that your voice sounds "nasally" it means you are speaking through your nose and throat more than you should. Adjust where your voice is coming from and "lower" it more into your throat until the "nasal" sound is minimal or completely diminished. Now your voice will be lower. It's actually a great way to quickly adjust your voice before going to a night out.
Also, be aware of what your voice is like around certain people. Guys typically talk with a deeper voice with talking to their dad on the phone. I find myself talking a little higher pitched when around people I don't know which is something I am working on.
EscapedTheMatrix 9y ago
I do this too. Usually, my voice is fine, but at work, around guests in the restaurant, my "supplicating" instincts take over and in my attempt to sound friendly and harmless, I often speak higher. I'm working on it, but it's definitely frustrating to catch myself slipping up.
Mattpilf 9y ago
This is true on non nasalized sound, but you should feel and sound nasaly on many sound like n, m, ng, k, p, and others. This is only about nasal airflow though.
If you have a bright twangy voice, then it's enterily different aspect. A better method might be to hum with lips loosley touching and feel vibrations on the lips and thorught the chest. Throat resonce is not very projective, authoritative, or even that pleasent, and searching for it often leads people to have that "forcing a deep voice" sound. A strong resonant and balanced voice is way more important than a throaty grumble.
homeliss 9y ago
I caught my voice going high while "pleading" with someone recently.
Wow, I was so embarrassed with myself at the time, but it left a lightly smoldering anger inside me that has kept me focused on deep, slow, relaxed communication for a few weeks now, as well as not "pleading" again :)
xfLyFPS 9y ago
I find myself speaking with a more high pitch voice around family members, including my father, but with strangers and friends I sound a lot deeper. Interesting how it's the exact opposite.
secretlyhigh 9y ago
Opposite for me bro. You sure assertive tone is the norm with your dad?
JakeRay 9y ago
It's not assertive, it's comfortable.
That's my experience. When I'm comfortable, my voice is normal/lower than usual.
Moldy_Gecko 9y ago
Yeah, high pitch would mean nervousness imo.

Mark Manson's method. He's a genius.
reigorius 9y ago
I tried to find Mark Mansons method, but Google and the search function on Mansons website gives me nothing. Could you PM a link or quote his website here?
ShounenEgo 9y ago
Manson has a lot of good suggestions in Models. I'm also a fan of his "masturbation diet" because it's not as extreme as nofap and its main goal is to quit porn and keep being horny to approach.
[deleted] 9y ago
It's in his book, Models. This is the first time I see it online (although I didn't go searching for it.)

He's got a lot of articles online if you google him.
[deleted] 9y ago
I don't think most guys who have a problem with having a high pitched voice actually have muscular problems or anything that would require stretching. I think it's almost purely mental.
Allow me to project: You're altering the pitch of your voice to be higher than it is in an effort to sound Niceâ„¢, and it's so ingrained in you now that that's just how you talk all the time. To make it worse, you feel like you're "pretending to talk like a man" when you talk normally, and you have a slight worry that people will think you're faking it, like you're wearing inflatable muscles or something. "Haha look at this guy trying to be manly".
The thing is, people don't think that, and the way to fix it is to just practice talking normally. You have to make a mental effort to NOT make your voice high pitched and Niceâ„¢ until it becomes the way you talk naturally.
And surprise surprise, people don't automatically think you're mean because you don't sound like a girl!
pspman354 9y ago
Exactly my problem i feel like someones gonna call me out. I used to do telemarketing and it would require me to sound nice and now it is kind of ingrained.
SexyDeviI 9y ago
Perfectly expressed, undeniable truth, in most cases. "I don't want to sound hostile" and therefore we learned to raise the pitch of our voice at all times, as if masculinity is bad in its nature and something to be ashamed of. Guilty of it myself.
Luckily there's Red Pill to show us how to unplug. Let yourself roar, unleash the fury.
yaardi 9y ago
It's always funny when I see certain people with deep voices switch the tone for their work superiors and/or their women. I catch myself doing that too.
ShazzMichaels 9y ago
Used to do exactly that as a young kid. We have been brainwashed to think that being less intimidating, less masculine, and more feminine are all fucking great things that will make others like you more.
Manmore 9y ago
Totally agree. Now, I know some people don't like NoFap, and I understand why. I tried it, went six weeks without ejaculating and got a new restaurant job forcing me to be social in a kinda hectic environment. Being social all day and horny as FUCK helped my voice a lot.
My voice was actually something I was insecure about before, but after a few weeks there some people commented on it and said I had a radio voice. My confidence grew, I could relax and started to love hearing myself talk. I have many memories of trying to get heard in a group, and just getting ignored, and now a hot girl I worked with looked at my after I yelled at her and said "damn, dat voice".
I'm not trying to advocate NoFap here, just sharing my experience with getting really horny and really social. That helped me, and I'm convinced that for most people it's just mental. Talk Talk Talk Talk and be horny.
Also, regarding Being Niceâ„¢: become aware of it, read stuff like No More Mr Nice Guy and watch RSD Tyler on tonality and breaking rapport (I know there are different opinions on him, but I like the guy, his stuffed helped me a lot). Stop being nice.
royal_fucktard 9y ago
I am kind of naturally high pitched and I definitely notice a difference after about a week of not jerking it.
LukeMcFuckStick 9y ago
It seems like there are two forms of thought on this sub concerning not jerking off. Some guys like it and some absolutely hate it. I'm not sure why. I remember one commenter making the case that "NoFap" was this huge conspiracy to control the male population by the catholic church because most men are controlled by their dicks and make more rational decisions after they've stroked it. However that makes no sense to me. If anything I believe it is the opposite. Breeding beta males that don't desire sex because they can get HD porn at the click of a button seems like a pretty damn good way to control these men. Being horny is now frowned upon. All these masculine traits are suppressed when a man is jerking off day after day. No desire to go out and actually fuck someone because of the high quality porn there is out there. Not to mention that dopamine addiction is a real thing. Neural pathways have literally been shown to change in men that frequently watch porn (specifically HD.) Thanks to Neuroplasticity the effects are reversible. I think most of these men just don't want to give up watching porn and swallow but yet another large pill.
Stythe 9y ago
You can debate anything until the cows come home. Most things in life are not just good or bad. I think the idea with things like NoFap are that if you are making love to Palmella every day then you're becoming dependant. As a result, stopping entirely and breaking that cycle cold turkey make it faster and easier to see the dichotomy in you're life that was caused by constant rope tugging. From there you can do it moderately if you want, knowing how it affects you because you've seen the polarity.
As always I stand by the saying "Everything in moderation, including moderation."
[deleted]
Rashid-Malik 9y ago
Holding it keeps you horny all the time and its kind of distraction (like when you are mighty hungry, or feeling sleepy but needs to focus on a mental activity and the situation requires that you put off gratification for some appropriate moment later), specially if you need to focus, laser sharp focus, on something not related to sex, like when you are working on a programming related project or something similar; holding it in keeps you restless, you feel like your body wants something else (like it wants you to leave the desk, go out socialize etc) while your mind is telling you to sit down and focus on what is important, its like body has gone into rebellion mode against the mind (in such particular situation). Maybe, a release might be a good idea for such situations. What I mean, in summary, is that both modes may have merits in their own situations.
ioncehadsexinapool 9y ago
It hurts how much I agree with your post. I've been doing nofap for two years and when I'm on a streak of 5 days or more I notice people shut the fuck up more when I speak. Before people would always speak over me but when I'm on a streak and I speak in a group everybody shuts up and listens. I have some environmental factors that I'm dealing with right now that make nofap harder than it should be. But I can say confidently that removing pmo from your life will only bring better things into your life. (Pussy, being one)
reigorius 9y ago
I find resisting fapping after sex pretty much the biggest hurdle to take. Especially when I have a nice streak going, say a week, have great fucking sex because of the nofap, I almost instinctively have a deep urge to come, hence the urge to fap.
[deleted] 9y ago
Rollo wrote a post worth checking out on this subject. It's called The Pheromonal Beta.
I strongly advocate NoFap.
[deleted]
[deleted] 9y ago
No porn at least will help most men hugely.
[deleted]
LukeMcFuckStick 9y ago
Funny you say that. I literally had that exact post in mind when writing my comment.
[deleted] 9y ago
How does fapping translate to controlling males? All I see is the opposite. The only control I can think of is having to pay for the internet to keep up the porn intake
LukeMcFuckStick 9y ago
I don't think there is any truth to the conspiracies about nofap or porn being used as means to control men. I do however think that jerking off enables beta behavior and would go along with the modern day feminist/cultural Marxist ideologies that are being pushed on men to kill masculinity. Jerking off suppresses men. I could easily see feminism and modern day society pushing porn for men that are in sexless relationships preaching to them that it's normal and expecting sex in relationship is bad etc. Here's a semi relevant Rollo article http://therationalmale.com/2011/11/17/the-pheromonal-beta/
[deleted] 9y ago
Jerking off makes men beta, jerking off makes it harder to get women, blah blah blah. No solid, concrete facts. Is there actually something about fapping that harms your path to self-improvement, or are we only going to talk about women?
sourpuss_ashkenazi 9y ago
I've experimented a bit with it and have found wanks should be at a minimum of four days apart. Honestly I think the benefits peak at about four or five days. Walking around for months with cobwebby bollocks doesn't make you more masculine.

Yes, you are correct.
The problem isn't usually the actual mechanics of vocalization, the problem is the place that the vocals come from.
For example: We often talk about how a man can say "You're beautiful" from either a masculine, secure (read: alpha) place or a needy, weak (beta) place.
The same is true of the actual sound that you project. If, when you are speaking you feel sure of yourself and kingly even, then you don't need to worry too much about the depth of your voice. It's not the sound that counts, its the certainty of oneself that carries itself in your voice.
Actually, speaking from an alpha place will also naturally make your voice much deeper and fuller, so we don't need to worry about that.
Now, with that problem on the back burner, we can focus on the real issue at hand: how to feel alpha.
sourpuss_ashkenazi 9y ago
Well that's one thing that isn't a problem for me... I had a girl a few weeks ago say to me in a bar, "I could listen to you speak about anything forever". Granted, I speak real uk received pronunciation and have a deep voice too. Probably my best asset and will only mature in tone when I get older.

I've been reading about vocal issues for the last few weeks, that sounds like an issue related to tension in the vocal cords. I don't have that particular issue, but I can relate to the phone issue, I believe my voice is deeper on the phone, and when I'm less tired, especially in the morning, but when I'm around many people I experience anxiety and it affects my voice.
Have you tried the first exercise described by OP? When I do this I hear a "Darth Vader" noise in the back of my throat upon exhale, seems like something changes at the upper back region of my throat above my uvula. I can avoid this by concentrating on the breath but then it's a bit more difficult because I have to focus on expanding my stomach and controlling my throat or whatnot like this.
I found a link about this, apparently the Darth Vader breathing is used for some yoga breathing practices and is related to the vocal cords:

Very good post. One quick suggestion: slow your speech a little. Also say less.
[deleted] 9y ago
This is really good advice as well.
Most people speak much more quickly than they realize. Slow it down almost to what seems "stupid" in your head and it will come out as deliberate and maybe even insightful sounding.
nzgs 9y ago
If I know in advance that I need to talk to a stranger what I will do is take a couple of slow deep breaths with my diaphragm to kinda "set myself" and then when I need to speak my voice isn't nasal. I don't think this is about making a voice deeper, but merely avoiding that horrible weak-sounding nasal voice.
[deleted] 9y ago
Can confirm. Finding out how to properly use my diaphragm is what allowed me to learn death metal vocals.

Pretty sure the reason why steroids deepen your voice is because they make the vocal cords grow, same reason as why a boy gets a deeper voice when he hits puberty.
My post is about letting go of tension on the vocal cords making them more relaxed, and speaking from the diaphragm.
[deleted] 9y ago
This is the one thing I don't need help with. A few people I've met in person after only having conversed via phone have remarked that they expected me to be taller. The problem is, my natural voice, coupled with my face, leads people to believe that I'm constantly angry.
[deleted] 9y ago
If you are an unconfident man, there is a good chance you speak in High Rising Terminal (speaking a statement sentence in a rising "question" tone). Just my own observation.
Stop that shit. It makes you sound weak, uncertain, or condescending. Try reading the same sentence out loud in a rising intonation, and then in an even or lowering intonation, the difference should be pretty noticeable. Speaking in an even or lowering intonation makes you sound more decisive and confident.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_rising_terminal
"Media in Australia, Britain, and the United States have negatively portrayed the usage of HRT, claiming that its use exhibits a speaker's insecurities about the statement and undermines effective speaking. Time reports that it hampers job interviews.
Recent evidence shows that leaders of the peer group are more likely to use HRT in their declaratives than the junior members of the particular peer group. According to University of Pennsylvania phonologist Mark Liberman, George W. Bush began to use HRT extensively in his speeches as his presidency continued. Linguist Robin Lakoff drew attention to the pattern in her book Language and Women's Place, which argued that women were socialized to talk in ways that lacked power, authority, and confidence. Rising intonation on declarative sentences was one of the features Lakoff included in her description of "women's language", a gendered speech style which in her view both reflected and reproduced its users' subordinate social status."

The Alpha teacher - ELLIOT HULSE teaches how to deepen your voice. Its amazing, how we are conditioned to have this high pitched pussy voice.
misterpoopycaca 9y ago
Was looking for this. Elliot Hulse is a prime example of how the pitch of your voice can be lowered. In his old videos he sounded extremely nasaly, but he was able to deepen his voice by what he calls grounding, basically opening up your musculature system and "lowering" your energy to your balls.
[deleted] 9y ago
Which is a bunch of bullshit made up terms... he's just supporting his voice like a singer would. Holding more air than the minimum necessary and using your diaphragm to sustain your tones. It's just using your body the way it's meant to be used, it has nothing to do with your energy or balls.

Speak from the place you yawn.
[deleted]
JakeRay 9y ago
Maybe relevant: I once heard that Morgan Freeman forces out a yawn before doing voice-acting. It literally enhances the deeper voice.
Though I don't have any concrete evidence backing this up.
ShounenEgo 9y ago
I saw a voice coach saying that yawning releases throat tension, and those are connected.

Testosterone and the voice does not work that way at all. You are experiencing a placebo, no doubt. Even if you got castrated and produced zero testosterone your voice would remain the same. People make careers off of the fact that hormones will not change your voice after puberty in men.
[deleted] 9y ago
[deleted]
Mattpilf 9y ago
Voices in men change after puberty reasons not related to testosterone, but changes in stiffness in the larynx and cords. It's the passaggio of a singer is relatively stable but the timbre isn't.
And if testosterone were a cause you'd need three things to happen. One is a significant increase in testosterone that is higher than what occurred in puberty, and two for this to be constantly and consistent increase that lasted for months to years. Third you'd need your body to be receptive to testosterone in your voice. Even normal men who inject T for athletic reasons don't notice a significant change in voice. Since the best "no fap" seems to have in testosterone is an unreplicated study where there was a mild one day increase in testosterone seven days after quitting, I'm sure it's not caused by T.
[deleted] 9y ago
Placebo in this sense means you're capable of doing that all the time, but you inaccurately attribute the lower notes to NoFap.

ghostbrainalpha 9y ago
Does anyone know why Mike Tyson had such a high voice, even though his testosterone must have incredibly high?
Mattpilf 9y ago
Partially because voices aren't that well correlated with testosterone, but more correlated with how your body responds to testosterone. In fact many peoples testosterone levels are pretty similar, but some are much more sensitive, and specifically individual parts of the body. You can have a deep low voice voice and still not grow a beard, and vice versa, you can be a hairy ass viking and a high pitched voice. For instance, some white men develop a giant brow ridge, yet the same level of testosterone will produce almost zero brow ridge. It's just how the body responds.
O_Son 9y ago
I don't know a ton about speech impediments, like if they're genetic or related to structural issues in the brain, or vocal cords, etc but the highness of his voice might be related at least partially to his speech impediment.

s0me_ 9y ago
Not sure about this.
I tried it, and I can stop being nasally by not having my breath leave my nose when talking.
Is that correct?
Mattpilf 9y ago
There's two types of nasallity. There's nasal airflow and nasal resonance. Both are important, both have their limitations
Certain sounds have nasal airflow, like , m,n, and ng. Vowels don't. If you experience nasal airflow of any significant level on the vowels in english, that one thing.
Then there's nasal resonace. Essential in all sounds of speech, but should be balanced with chest resoance and oral resonance. Now there's a ton of reasons why balance in resoance is off. You might have a tense neck that cuts off chest resonace, your voice my be twangy from a certain type of compression, your airflow might be poor.
Some of these issue are realted to breath support. Hold your breath, but don't close off the air. Let it flow in and out without moving your lungs air. You'll notice by 30 seconds or so your abdominals are starting to regulate airflow and keep it stable. That's what breathing with your diaphragm means. To make sure you don't engage throat tension you start with the letters "s". Then make a loud "s" sound. Notice the neck tense up? Avoid that tension. Make that sound with no neck tension, grandually progress to stronger airflow and a "z" sound. All air movement comes from your lower core, not your throat. Work on that first.
