TL;DR This can apply to anyone here but younger members, if your school or a local community center has one, join Drama (theater)
Body: I was a shy kid growing up. I had a massive stutter, like fucking bad. I couldn't pronounce B, C, D, F, G, K ect words without a massive embarrassing stutter. This lead me to not have a lot of friends because I told myself I am lame and I rather not embarrass myself. I was chunky as shit too. Then I hit middle school and decided to join Drama
I thought Drama at first was retarded, only fags did it, but it can be a great tool if you need help "faking it till you make it." I like to help on r asktrp but it's the same questions over and over again, What to do if I am lame, what to do if I am shy, I can't talk to girls, I'm awkward, blah blah blah. Here's what Drama taught me in a nutshell
Rehearsing lines and getting in your zone will help you retain knowledge. Getting pumped for a performance is just like getting ready for a gym session. It's your time. I loved being the lead actor.
When you are on stage you have to slow your voice down, my teacher literally said "talk like you are retarded", it will sound weird to you but normal to the audience." This helped me in real life, I always talked fast. Stupid tongue twisters that theater instructors teach helped me slow my voice down and let my words flow
You are a character and you get into your characters frame, you are being a fictional character. This gave me the chance to be macho if the script called for it, funny if the script called for it, so on so forth. I won awards in state competitions because I loved this aspect of the job. This taught me how to be a chameleon (Law 38, Think as you like but behave like others.)
Controlled breathing. You can't rush your lines, theater isn't a movie, you get one take every performance, you don't just yell cut and redo the scene. A huge theme of RP is Alpha Mindset. Look around at the Alphas in your life, their breathing is slow, balanced and looks natural. This helps in life with relationships and friendships. Sometimes you only get one chance to not fuck it up. If I got the lines wrong during a performance, it was on me to get the show back on track through improv
Closing: I did Drama for 6 years, made friends, got invited to parties and encouraged me to lose weight and I lost my stutter. I am currently looking to get back into it now that it's been 10 years since high school. I know these aren't necessarily red pill thoughts but theater is a great tool if you are unsure about yourself, feel lame (even though that's a weak excuse.) Red Pill isn't about being Alpha, it's about being the man you want to be and gain the Alpha mindset. Even if you don't need help in this field, theater is a great fucking hobby.

im graduating this year after a shitty two-year streak of failing at everything and being anxious af. this advice is more golden than the federal currency reserve. im doing well with grades this year, going to try to nail a few extracurricular activities too while im at it. the connections made during high school are immeasurably valuable. nice post buddy

It's been 10 years since I graduated but the choices I made and hobbies I did helped way more than I thought they would

Agreed. If you are in high school right now, the best thing you can do imo is to learn guitar. I'm not even good, but it's still impressive when I can play easy, popular songs on request.

Been playing guitar for 15 years and play 5 other instruments. Best choices I've made. Not because the women but the feeling you get of producing your own album and being able to master it yourself is something a lot of people wouldn't understand

hell yeah man, you have no idea how many girls swoon for you if you play some simple little song on guitar, hell i even use the line "i play guitar, come over to my place and i'll sing you a song.' and you don't even have to be good, you can be the shittiest player who only knows how to play basic chords but bitches love it it's not that hard to get into it

I think it's because it shows you have confidence which is attractive (obviously). And you are entertaining and fun; therefore worth their time.

as someone who's plays drums for 10 years and only got laid from it once. Fuck. I picked the wrong instrument
tigerjaws 9y ago
Eh at least it wasn't Bass. Haha You ever play in a band? Girls at shows will fuck you literally for just being in a band.

Invite a girl over for an acoustic drum show. Metal or die

Trust me my man you can get over it. I've done the speech therapy, saw tons of specialist. What helped me 95% of way was talking incredibly slow, like dragging at your words half speed. I would get so excited to talk and couldn't get my words out at all. Now I stop myself and let people finish talking before I say anything. I feel my stutter wanting to come out still but I haven't noticed myself doing it in years. Control your breathing and stand straight to open your lungs.
If I ever feel a stutter coming on, which still happens time to time, I stop myself. It's awkward but I find a way to recover the sentence

I completely agree with your sentiment. If youre a young guy you NEED to get out there and start doing shit. Im 15 atm, and just from exposing myself to new shit im able to talk more freely and I feel a lot more calm about myself, and im really starting to feel the IDGAF. I never feel i have to qualify myself because I already know i "have a life". Ive started hitting gym, rock climbing, making music, writing short stories for my school. Doing new stuff is important for breaking that shell.

Robert Picardo does the same thing (Star Trek Voyager, Stargate Atlantis) - if ever you see him interviewed, he has a HUGE lisp - but never in front of the camera.

That's interesting, never knew that. My stammer held me back for years but looking back it was high school theater that helped me. Turns out my stutter was partially due to a lack of confidence

What if you aren't in school?
CuntyMcFagNuts69 9y ago
I've done acting for community centers. Don't need to be in school to do theater
