I aim this mostly at college students. I started smoking weed early in high school, and stopped completely near the end of my sophomore year of college. Currently going into my senior year.
I have by no means achieved the levels of success that I want from practicing TRP philosophy, but I have come to see how much more productive and fulfilling life is without weed. I know you may smoke and still be very in shape, very productive, good grades, and good game with women. However looking back I can see ways that this shit took hold of my life at various points. You get complacent, you schedule your day around when/if you can smoke. Weed drove me to bad bouts of anxiety that made achieving my goals a monumental struggle. I have tried many kinds of drugs, but weed is so dangerous because it is so easy.
I know some people here view alcohol in the same regard, and I understand. I do drink on some weekends. But for the majority of the people, that is the norm. Plus sometimes not drinking can lead to social suicide, no matter how much you want to try and deny it. Excluding alcoholics, no one can go to work drunk, go to the gym drunk, have any kind of productive day drunk. But many people fall into the mindset that they can "easily" do all of these things high. And that's because you can easily get away with these things high. "Get away with". We aren't looking to just "get away with" things here, we are looking to take life on at full force and make the most of what we do.
After a year of reflecting on my drug use, I have seen how much time it wastes. Weed becomes your hobby. Weed becomes your sleep aide. Weed takes your money, because you always feel the need to have some with you. I know life is about compromises, and sometimes we just need to relieve stress and enjoy it. Yet I know so, so many people who started out with this mindset and then the "once in a while" turns into every single day.
Please young people, as someone who used to be a pothead, weed brings no value into your life. I cannot speak for people older than me, but I imagine they may say the same, but I would like to see some opinions.
edit: grammar

Today is the second day I am fully committing myself to quitting weed.
It's weird because overall weed has been one of the easiest and instant-gratification devices in my life that basically filled a void for my lack of accomplishments, and yet I always considered it totally benign and beneficial.
I just graduated college with a STEM degree four weeks ago and haven't even began looking for a job because I spent the past four weeks smoking up everyday and hanging out with underachievers like myself. Some of my close friends haven't even gotten their high school diplomas yet, some have multiple kids, I don't know how I fit into this crowd but looking back, drugs in particular weed, seem to be the main uniting factor. I'm 24 years old and still live with my mom and now that I'm a graduate I have no excuses to not be independent.
Today I had a really intense workout to try and boost my mood, I'm pretty sore but I haven't felt motivation to work out in over a month, yet on my second day of no smoking already I felt motivated.
I'm gonna try really fucking hard to stick it out cause it's only become painfully obvious how complacent and unproductive I have become, because weed was this convenient crutch to forget about my problems.
Digons 6y ago
How about dropping it? You don't need weed. I'm not even talking about health issues related to it. Just drop it. You DON'T need it. I see this man on the comments that is 40 years old, started to smoke when young and still does it. THink on the amount of money that he could have saved if he didn't use at first.
Yeah, this thing is PROBABLY really good, but honestly, I don't need it. Besides the money factor and ignoring that conservatives (as I am) say it's ''ugly'', I don't need it. Do you honeslty think that your life is better with weed?
Yes, the same can be said about videogames or whatever hobby you say, but there's a difference: those things aren't drugs.
Anyway, this is just an advice. Just downvote this comment and keep smoking, stonners.
EDIT: should also add that I totally suport the MEDICINAL use of this drug
[deleted] 6y ago
I love smoking weed. Unfortunately, I just find it impossible to enjoy weed in moderation, and I don't really know anyone that buys it themselves that does it in moderation either. I wish I could just smoke on a lazy Sunday, and maybe a weeknight or two when I'm stressed out, but it's just soooo easy to get high all the time.
100% agree with what you said about alcohol vs weed. It's in vogue now to say that alcohol is worse than weed. In many ways this is true. But it takes hard work to become an alcoholic, or at least a serious addictive predisposition. I've had weeks where I get pissed off on Monday and decide I'm going to go buy a bunch of alcohol and just get blasted every night to forget about shit, but by Wednesday I'm like nope... fuck this. It's incredibly easy to smoke weed all day though.
If there is anyone out there that is able to smoke weed in moderation (which I would define as 1-2 times per week and zero interference with your normal life), then more power to you. For the vast majority of people though it's just not doable.

Really depends on the user. Some of the legends in the arts today, were huge pot smokers....
Bruce Lee, George Carlin, Robin Williams, and of course, the GOAT....Morgan Freeman. It all depends on what kind of personality type you have. If you're an addict, you're gonna easily be addicted to anything, from hotdogs to heroine.

MoneyWomenFastCars 6y ago
Hmm. I understand where you're coming from, but from my personal experience and the conversations I've had with others who smoke weed, and also conversations with people who solely use alcohol, I've come to a different understanding.
The general response I've gotten from people when I ask them why they drink alcohol is something along the lines of: "I just don't want to think about X" or, "I just want to turn my brain off".
However, in my experience, which is similar to those who smoke weed like myself, Marijuana has the opposite effect for me. It immerses me in the problems that are going on in my life. There is no running from things I don't want to think about.
From my understanding it takes a certain level of practice to be able to put yourself into a meditative stage where you're able to reflect, but it seems like weed may be some type of shortcut or cheat code to get to that state.
Also, I firmly believe that your environment and people around you have a huge influence on the stuff you get done while high. You can definitely get high and watch movies/play games and fuck your day off, no doubt about that.
But you can also use it as a tool to think outside the box, do some critical thinking, learn some new shit, create a plan of action, and then execute that plan. It is an herb from this planet, a gift that you can not blame for your own problems of self-control. Some people CAN do everything high, we all have different tolerances.
For myself, I find that weed helps me creatively invent the blueprint for what I need to do, and have more intellectual conversations when I'm in a sedentary environment. Then, when it's time for action, all my focus can be diverted to execution of the idea(s). Just some food for thought, as I too was dealing with similar conflicts as you.
But truth be told, the ability for me to fuck off is there whether weed is in my life or not. The key is self discipline, and I stole this from Jocko Willink, but the point is that if you rely on external discipline sources (teachers, parents, bosses, coaches etc) to keep you in line, then what are you gonna do when those external discipline sources are no longer there? This is why self-discipline is so important, and why you, like I did, may be blaming the herb for some more personal problems.
Everyone is different, but no one knows yourself and your body like you do, so take that into account when your making large assumptions about something as harmless as smoking weed. Stay strong brotha, we're all in this together ???? take it easy

This subject comes up in many forms and I can always predict the top level comment.
I say stop playing video games, they are a waste of time building no real life skills, and tricking your brain into thinking you are improving / conquering challenges / facing down real competition. And thus sapping your will to find those opportunities in real life for masculine growth.
Top level comment says "dude maybe YOU had a problem with video games but that's on you, video games are fine in moderation. I make 200k a year and play LoL daily, so kindly fuck off from attacking my beloved pasttime (present-time?).
You say "don't smoke, it's a worthless hobby, there's no point, and if you think it's adding value to your life you are probably just hamstering to rationalize it because it feels good."
Top comment... "Nah bro you can smoke in moderation. Here, smoke in these reddit approved ways, have a vape, have an edible, and by the way, you can be successful and healthy and productive while responsibly using pot."
The bottom line is we all have to make DIFFERENT sacrifices to reach a level of success. I can't eat all this delicious shit, I am a food addict and if I start eating shit food, my puny little brain is going to want more, and I will start eating more shit. I'll feel like crap then and I won't work out. 6 months will go by and I'll have undone my last cut. That is because I have self-knowledge; I know I love food, I know I have a bottomless stomach and I still can fuck up a buffet like I'm a broke college kid. So I have to have stricter control and stricter rules in order to be happy and fit on a long term basis.
Another guy might be eating whatever and working out 2x a week, and will look shredded. I know these guys, many of them are 'naturals' physically in the sense of having great genetics and athleticism. These guys can fuck a pizza into their gullet every week and wash it down with a few porters and they'll be fine. Their relationship with food gets to be "I eat what I feel like, and magically my body still looks and performs pretty good."
So the key to TRP is "I do not get to do what a natural gets to do."
If you are a fuck up, you don't get to eat shit. You have to eat the chicken and greens and sweet potatoes and shit. If you are a fuck up, you don't get to smoke. You need to be maximizing your alertness and productivity, and you never should be just chilling in a bored state. Ever, like fucking kill yourself if you want to do that, because you need to be extreme. If you are a fuckup, you need ESCAPE VELOCITY from the shithole of your life, which means you don't get to just do what you see already successful people doing.
Let me repeat that - if you are NOT SUCCESSFUL, then you cannot just do what you see successful people doing. You must have a more extreme work ethic, a more retarded absolutist attitude, and less "cheat" days if any.
Now about weed, is weed really that bad? No. The only problem with weed as far as I'm concerned (especially if you aren't smoking shit-tier reggie joints) is that it makes being bored and doing nothing "fun". Go fuck yourself if you want to chime in like "when I'm high I like to write books and compose music and program apps! Hurr hurr!" You know damn well you're the exception and 99% of redditors are watching netflix, eating food, or doing the same dumb shit with the same beta low achiever friends when they get high. South Park nailed it - weed is bad because instead of doing other things, you're smoking weed which is going to help you enjoy doing things that aren't helpful or productive.
"But but thotwrecker life isn't about being productive! Why do we have to be such nazis! You are allowed to relax bro!"
No fuck that, Elon Musk is allowed to relax. Successful people are allowed to relax and do things that aren't focused around accomplishing shit. Unsuccessful people aka all of you who don't own a home, don't drive what they want to drive, don't have the rotation of bitches they want, etc... you should orient your life around being productive. You shouldn't tolerate a hobby that lets you have fun sitting on the couch. If you are unsuccessful, you have weak will. If you have weak will, then the lucy leaf is too much for you - you will enjoy it responsibly until you realize you're smoking to help yourself avoid stress or anxiety about your life being shitty. You're using it responsibly until you blaze up when you have nothing better to do, and you realize that when I ask you what was the last book you read, you respond with something you read in college.
So that's my perspective. The Red Pill knowledge is only useful if you have the self-awareness to say "here is where I am in life, and here is where I'd like to be." TRP is also about looking at yourself in the mirror and figuring out why that gap exists. If there's a gap in your life and you're spending a lot of time on gaming, netflix, weed, shit friends, reddit, drinking, whatever it is... then chances are completely eliminating those shit hobbies with an autistic level of absolutism WILL help you. You have to have the self-knowledge to say "I'm a little fuck up who doesn't have the work ethic I need to hit my goals, I'm not fucking the bitches I want to fuck or making the money I want to make, so I don't get to do the fun stuff that a more successful guy would." That is the heart of TRP - you do not get to do what I get to do, and I do not get to do what Chris Pratt gets to do, and he doesn't get to do what Leo gets to do.
12jikan 6y ago
I'm clapping as loud as I fucking can right now! This is great! I fucking love it! "I don't get to do the fun stuff that a more successful guy would". Couldn't have said it better myself.

The only top-level response worth reading. The denial in this thread is palpable. The vast majority of the responses are from potheads who would rather spend more time hamstering over their pot use than consider an alternative to their current life style.
Then you have the guy talking about how he gets high all day but it's okay because he's really made it in life; you see: he's a delivery driver. Well call the bank to enlarge their vaults, we got a delivery driver over here about to make a deposit. Totally ignoring the fact that he can't handle living his life without the veil of pot clouding his mind all day. He literally lives on assistance every waking hour, but sees this as totally not a problem.
The only reason you should be living on any drug-related assistance for every waking hour is if you have some malignant form of cancer that is slowly killing you and the only way to make the pain subside is with constant pot use. I've seen this in a family member, so I understand the importance for those who spend almost every moment of what little time they have left on this earth in severe pain as their insides are eaten away by multiple forms of cancer.
Any other reason for constant drug use is the result of a weak mind that can't handle the real world, and requires a crutch to survive. It ain't making you stronger, I can guarantee that. And when the shit hits the fan and you can't find any pot around to take the edge off, I guarantee you're about to hit an all time low.

Terrible comparison, and justification, for demonizing a form of media. Video games are nowhere near the same as a drug nor is playing a lot of the them them same as smoking a lot of weed. Weed also has far more constraint as a harmful substance than videos games ever will; and the first argument you applied to video games fits weed far better. Weed is the waste of time that saps will, without real life skills, challenges or competition. Video games can have these and more; and more easily translate those into real life over lighting up a plant, especially if you play quality games, see them as something that can advance you life/bother to learn something from them instead of putting them in the same category as things that can't inherently do either, like weed. The same can be said about any other form of media, and just like there are movies from Twilight to Das Boot or books like porn mags to Treasure Island there's shit low quality video games but there are also a host of great ones, which shouldn't be in the same category as weed. People who play to much and don't improve problem also isn't gaming. It's their lazy and anti-intellectual, anti- improvement attitude, which just happened to be applied to video games but no doubt also is in other areas of their life. Just like if someone were to actually read a shit book over a good one the solution isn't to to say en mass "stop reading books". If someone actually likes video games and likes to appreciate/ learn something from them now and then and aren't legitimately wasting time by playing all the time, its a fine hobby even if they aren't a "natural". Even more so if they value it as a constructive outlet. Giving a game like Asura's Wrath or God of War a play for some fun after reading something like the Lotus Sutra or the Illiad and as part of interest in culture or history isn't the same as wasting hours doing nothing but gaming in your basement eating doritos and Mouintain Dew, and rolling blunts.

So many good concepts here in one comment. The idea of not being able to do what a natural does, because you are not a natural. The idea of not pursuing idle dopamine release because it bleeds away drive to achieve real goals. The idea of practicing restraint in order to achieve goals so that you don't hijack your reward system, and re-connecting your dopamine releases to achieving your own goals in the real world. All clearly coming from hard-earned experience. Listen up men. This guy knows what he's talking about. This is bought with real experience.

i'd say that's the worst mindset to have because it creates a bunch of neurotic degenerates who become so attached to material gain that they can never turn it off. men in the 20 percent know how to relax, whether they are rich or not, thus having a balanced life that attracts whatever their wealth of choice. if your whole life is chasing something and looking forward to your dog biscuits, you're going to live and die a dog doing tricks for the master.
lunklife 6y ago
I think youre taking this too literally. What i should have said was that your long term goal, when youre young, should be to work and make something of yourself. That might be studying hard in school to get your degree or working hard on your career if you have a job. Of course we need to have the occasional fun weekend, go out with friends, take a quick vacation; we're not autonomous robots. We cant work day in and day out without developing fatigue. I was trying to say the basis of your life shouldn't revolve around fun and partying without any goals in mind.
aanarchist 6y ago
at the end of the day we both advocate balance. also it's important to stop trying to be other people and just focus on ourselves and what we want out of our lives. one of the problems with the 80 percent even on trp is that they're still focused on external validation. they want to fuck certain women or certain amounts because they want other people to approve of them and validate their behaviors and decisions. they want to make certain amounts of money so that others validate them, they want to do certain things so that others validate them, they wear certain clothes, buy certain cars, all validation seeking. the external validation seeking needs to come to an end, people need to bring it back to themselves and learn how to make their own decisions, and how to validate themselves. this doesn't mean become a narcissistic fuck, it means becoming fully conscious and being capable of making their own decisions and understanding them.

most importantly, learn what cause and effect means and their relationship to each other. way too many people just do things and then when the effect comes along they don't know what's happening or don't care, it's fucking embarrassing to watch. it's like when a dude gets salty that some whore gave him an std, he doesn't realize it's on him to make sure his women are clean before putting his dick in it. he gets sick cuz his diet and lifestyle are shit, and doesn't seem to make the connection that his lifestyle choices are causing this.

There will be manny variations from person to person.

I would even go further. Once you hit wake and bake everyday status, it's only a matter time. Every. Single. One. That I know eventually ends up neglecting things. This can be cleaning your place, lifting, going out, whatever. Eventually, you start racing home to smoke, kill an hour fucking around, then decide you'll do something, or maybe not - you have Netflix.
When you reach that stage, everyone of you will start having to make excuses to yourself as to why you're not as productive as you should be.

I don't disagree with your sentiment, however I consider myself to have "made it" and thus don't consider myself a "fuck up". Am I fucking super models? No, but I am happy with where I am. My comment only really applies to those who have put in the work and those who are willling to say "this life I have is good". I do alcohol sometimes, most of the time socially; probably once every two weeks. I often smoke shisha, half of the time socially (you wouldn't believe what hot girls you can get over one waterpipe), or during laborious, boring or frustrating work - it gets to relax you nicely.
And I sometimes smoke weed - once every three or four weeks. I use it as a reward for me; I smoke alone in the evening after a month of hard work, either doing some more or finally chilling for once. You can train this idgaf attitude so neatly on the weed. It relaxes you. Makes you enjoy that little time more.
But like with anything, you have to look how much you do it and don't overdo. Never ever smoke daily. Consume the plant, don't let it consume you.

At one house it's mostly old people (actually a condo) at the other it's an actual house and the neighbors are orthodox jews from manhattan. One of them owned the company whos crane collapsed in nyc. I take responsibility for fucking up my own life. But I don't think I ever would have fucked it up if I didn't start smoking weed.
Growing up I was one of the most popular kids through senior year. I was a three sport athlete, super social, homecoming king, 3.8 GPA, a gf who was a 9, and my future was extremely bright.
My freshman year of college I picked up weed. I smoked at parties in high school about once a month but never bought my own. In college, it became a daily habit. Started off innocent enough, but before I knew it I was skipping classes because they were easy. I'd get high and chill.
I stopped going to the gym because I no longer played competitive sports. I lost my old social circle. My girlfriend broke up with me and I coped with weed. I got depressed and ended up dropping out of school after my sophomore year. I lost my vision and motivation. I developed anxiety. I stopped going out and started smoking more and more.
I cut contact with my friends because I felt sorry for myself. They eventually stopped inviting me out.
If it isn't evident yet, I hit a negative feedback loop that I couldn't get out of. Yet I continued to smoke.
Now here I am three years later. I just quit 10 days ago. I've been lifting for two years and have made solid gains. I get comments on my physique and I know girls are into me but my confidence is still shot.
It's hard to put on a positive persona when you know you're not living up to the person that you know you are. Or should be, rather.
I enrolled at my community college while working at a fucking grocery store. I haven't had sex in a year. I've been on dates but I always end up self sabotaging and fucking it up.
And honestly. If I never started smoking, I don't think I would have dealt with the anxiety and depression. Maybe, it's impossible to know now. But for 18 years I never had mental health or confidence issues.
I loved going out. I loved to learn. Eventually the only thing I did was get high. So harmless. It's not going to kill you and you can still function. But it's a short cut to happiness. It's an escape so you don't have to face reality.
I will never go back. I have so many regrets but I can only learn from it and move forward.
KidWonder101 6y ago
Bro this sounds exactly like myself. It's time to stop smoking until I have my shit together.
[deleted] 6y ago
Once you get past the first week it's not so bad. Trying to fill the time I spent getting high is a little bit tricky though.
If you have trouble sleeping, there is a sleep-aid at CVS that looks like Nyquil but is just for sleep. Take 50 mg of that even though it says 30. I take melatonin and ibuprofen too. Knocks me out real nice. That was the hardest part... the insomnia.
Good luck. We're gonna make it.

All my friends drink, none of them pressure me to drink, and no one will stop being my friend, these are the nicest people I know, and they were the popular kids in school.
My point is you are making excuses for yet another bad useless habit, weed has medical properties, alcohol hurts your level, lowers protein synthesis and HGH
Arnold smoke weed and said it help with his appetite so he could keep making gains

Quit weed recently.
Testosterone? Up.
Brain clarity? Skyrocketed.
Overall mental health? Better than ever.
The older generation generally thinks too negatively about weed. The younger generation thinks too positively. Just because it is highly accepted doesn't make it fine. This is a core principle.
aanarchist 6y ago
funny because weed puts my game on steroids, puts me on a higher frequency of thought and makes me more focused. on top of that it saved me thousands of dollars on therapy. it depends on the person using it and the reason they are using it. if you have an emotional addiction and need it just to get through the day then yes you have a problem, if you use it when u just wanna sit there baked like a stereotypical stoner kid yes you should quit. it would be good to wait until your brain is more formed ie out of high school before using it, and after experiencing it having a clear purpose on what you're going to be taking it for. one of my friends takes it to help him destress after work, another tried it and all it did was make him lazy, i take it and it puts me into a productive mood. everyone responds differently and being a natural substance coming straight from the earth, it shouldn't be simply discarded or be feared because one person has the experience of it making him lazy. on the other hand you do have a very good point, a lot of young people who take it replace one addiction with another.

Stop smoking weed as an escape.
This applies to anything:
Anything that provides you with dopamine has a potential for abuse.
That said, I actually plan to start using weed, soon. I'm growing it, so it's a delayed gratification reward. I also don't need much for the effects and am not a big user to begin with.
Hector_Castillo 6y ago
Former huge smoker here. From sophomore year to the year I spent in Cali, I smoked multiple times a week. When in Cali, I was smoking multiple times a day. Probably spent >$1,000 in weed that one year (bongs, pipes, etc), not including all the pizzas I ordered while high.
It was fun, but it severely hurt my productivity. Also, I used to get high and go out. Mixed results, honestly. If you're a high energy guy with anger problems, weed can mellow you out. Otherwise, it'll do too much and you'll be too insecure, anxious, and feminine. You think everything you do is awkward and even find yourself asking other people if you're being weird. This scene is funny as fuck, but actually real as fuck, too.
Sex on weed...sometimes it was mind-blowing, especially with this one particular plate...god she was hotter than a fucking furnace, but other times, it'd make me anxious and I'd even lose erections and not be as dominant as I could be.
I think E.T. Thomas said it good when talking about people who asked him why weed was bad. His response was, "How is it helpful, tho?"
If you want a vice, weed is probably better than drinking, smoking cigs, or any other substance, but don't fall for the belief that it has no long-term negative effects, isn't addictive, or that since it's a plant, it's okay. Opium comes from a fucking plant and that shit is insane. All chemicals are plant based at some point. Synthetics are only created using natural means, which means, ergo, they are natural, too. It is addictive, it does make you feel stupid, you do have weed-hangovers, and it makes you calm/feminine when you shouldn't be. Also, it can induce panic/anxiety attacks (which triggered me to quit. I had an existential meltdown while playing basketball with friends. I lost almost all motor functions and felt like I was dying).
As always, do as you wish, but if you can, put down the reefer, broh.
steasybreakeasy 6y ago
So we can drink responsibly, is there not an option to smoke responsibly? You make a lot of good points, including staying productive. But there is plenty of room to add cannabis into one's diet without smoking every damn day.
TL;DR please smoke responsibly
Personal preference: Small low temp dab or edible (high in CBD) once a week.
ATPsynthase12 6y ago
I mean while I'm not a fan of getting drunk/stoned at all, I think minimal use is okay. Like everything in life, use in moderation is key. The only issue I see with this is that the kind of people who use drugs/drink regularly tend to have poor willpower and a weak ability to delay gratification.
The trick is to be able to stop yourself at 2-3 beers/cocktails and still enjoy yourself.
Also always keep in mind that even if a substance isn't technically addictive, due to the neurophysiology of the brain any pleasurable activity can become addictive. That surge of feel "good chemicals" from a pleasurable/exciting act is why we have people who are addicted to porn/masturbation or are adrenaline junkies. I believe it is also why we have these stoner burnouts who do nothing but smoke pot and sit around.
Tl;Dr: moderation is key; even if something isn't addictive, keep in mind that any act you find pleasurable can become addictive. So when in doubt exercise healthy restraint.
[deleted] 6y ago

hmmm, I think you meant to say, "Short Term Memory".
Perhaps you mean from strain to strain there isn't a big difference in which I agree. But if you mean difference in how you can consume, Well I would point out that there is a huge difference there.
Over all what I was getting at is that the overall amount and frequency is what make the difference.
P.s. OP had a nice summary comment that really drives home the main point.

Same for me, I'd be a complete stoner If I didn't get crazy munchies everytime I smoke, when I do it's mayhem for my macros, I eat everything in sight, hell even water feels extremely good.
I'd love to be able to smoke responsibly, but even if I was bulking it would be way too much.
If you can't do something responsibly, admit it and either fix it or stop completely.

You need an iron will to consistently eat veggies instead of anything else while stoned imo.

Yep, this makes perfect sense. When I smoked weed in college, it wasn't the weed itself that made me anxious. It was whether I would get caught.
When I smoke weed in my apartment, I don't get that anxiety. It's pleasant. I guarantee you that if weed was legal, you wouldn't be having as many people or very little people getting anxious from it.
beatsdropheavy 6y ago
your body adapts, my friend and i both came to the conclusion that after smoking so often, the paranoia doesn't even register most of the time and its just a pleasant high
TrenGod37 6y ago
I actually heard the opposite from People the longer they smoked the worst it got. And it didn't matter for me either way. I freaked from day one. And then smoked 7 times a day for 2 years. And it never got better
mental_models 6y ago
I used to smoke as part of my daily routine, and it basically calmed my anxiety, while giving me a boost of energy (may sound like contradicting effects, but not really). As far as things like fitness or mental clarity, I was operating at a high level.
After some significant health issues, and a long time away from smoking, It has given me bad anxiety (to the point of insomnia for that night) when I dabbled in it.
Kind of like a childhood friend with whom you've gone in different directions, and you can no longer hang out with.
I'd like to try again sometime, but I'm in no rush.
TheRedditGod 6y ago
This happened to me for a very long time and I never understood how people can smoke and be around their parents or not be completely retarded until around 8 months ago when I started smoking a fair bit more which raised my tolerance making me a lot less stupid after smoking than before, and just giving me a chill high instead of a crazy freak out like before.

Get a "mission". A rewarding hobby to invest in. Fitness is obvious, I find refuge in learning stuff about music and growing things.
Alpha_Buddha 6y ago
Hey man. Thanks for the reply. I do enjoy playing guitar, and have started to read a lot these days. Though it's best I don't become a hipster guitarist types or an introverted reader, and keep these hobbies to the limit where they complement my SMV and don't overdo it.
Fitness is something I have to get into immediately. I'm 16, I'm physically at my peak in hormonal production; I must reap the benefits of my youth.
fromthebottom 6y ago
Yup, but don't read a book to figure out what is important to you. I'd rather be fat and 100% happy then ripped and 65% happy
Irishminer93 6y ago
Learning to play the guitar won't make you a hipster and reading won't make you an introvert. Both are great skills and habits to have. It's what you do with them that determines their effect on your smv. Simply playing power chords will raise your smv if you find or create the situation for it. Reading makes you more knowledgeable and if your going to continue your trp journey, boy let me tell you. There's a lot of reading.
Alpha_Buddha 6y ago
Thanks for the reply. Yeah I've been playing the guitar for 5 years now and I love playing solos and the like on my electric, but in a crowd it's better to pull out the old acoustic and strum some chords.
I have read the sidebar and been here for over a year now. It's better to substitute reading fiction with material that can actually help me in life.
But all that does not matter if I fail to implement this. So far, nofap and meditation have helped me get confident and a bit energetic, and to the point where I definitely feel that my well-being is more important than any girl out there. But again, this fails if I don't get any action in the first place.
Irishminer93 6y ago
Monk mode is always good, just make sure you make a goal and keep to it. Once you reach that goal, assess yourself. As far as replacing fiction, don't. Simply supplement it with nonfiction. Also, it's always good to read about something you enjoy, since you enjoy the guitar, could always read books related to busking and other ways of using this skill.

If you don't want to drink or smoke just go hangout with people who don't drink or smoke. When I was a teenager I used to go to hardcore/punk shows and labeled myself "straight edge" after meeting other kids who didn't like drinking and drugs too. We would all hangout together and go to shows, skateboard, or just go on random adventures. We'd even go to parties and just hangout/not drink. No one really gave us shit about it other than the occasional drunk idiot talking shit.. But in most cases it was some pathetic loser who feels insecure with himself around sober people.
I'm kind of reliant on weed and sick of blowing $40 every 5 days on it. Whenever I smoke I just get super tired and have poor concentration and when I go a whole day without smoke I'm super grumpy/agitated at the end of the day. Glad I saw this post today.
RPmatrix 6y ago
Long time cannabis user here --- try taking Magnesium supplements, they are amazing at reducing 'anxiety' levels ... almost as good as pot is!
Take 800-100mgs daily and enjoy the peace of mind
The RDI for Mg is 450mgs per day BUT most people are lucky to get 150mgs p/d
Trust me, it's the best $10 you'll have spent in a while

I just never "got" the whole weed thing. I've never felt the need to feel better.
Rat_of_NIMHrod 6y ago
I am 40. Smoked weed when I was younger and still do to this day. The difference is, I don't revolve around it. I came to a very simple conclusion that weed makes you lazy. It just does. It's also not that "cool" to the ladies by the time you hit 30.
My advice is to get your shit together. Then take a toke from time to time if that's your thing, but leave being "a head" in your past. Adult stoners just look stupid.
evolveto 6y ago
And Weed makes you disillusioned!
kealh 6y ago
I was addicted to weed. I can relate on what you're talking about, and I feel good that I don't smoke it anymore.
mustaine42 6y ago
I think complacency is the key word.
Probably, weed will not ruin your life. It won't ruin your liver, you won't sell your car for it, you won't commit violent crimes on it, etc.
But it will make you complacent. You will become content, exactly doing what you are doing, which if you're smoking pot, is probably sitting on your ass in front of a screen. You will become happy, doing nothing and being a lazy piece of shit. And I think this is far more dangerous than anything else.
If you are one of those people that smokes and then goes to run 3 miles or play soccer, then this does not apply to you. But most people smoke weed, and sit on their ass until they pass out.
walkingthelinux 6y ago
Weed is medication. Not everyone needs medication.
sevoque 6y ago
New to the community and this is insanely good timing.
I have gone through cycles of roughly every 3 months going back to weed, despite making huge amounts of progress in my life during the three months im not smoking. I go back to it thinking that I've now cultivated some level of discipline to simply smoke in the evenings, though it quickly deteriorates in to a daily sesh with wake n bake straight after gym and it hinders my progress so much - this time around ultimately causing a huge amount of pain on a deep level as I was straying too far from my daily goals and higher purpose.
Not to say that there aren't individuals out there who can make it all work - and not to say that it isn't compatible with a balanced lifestyle, for me, personally, it's not!
I've previously held on to it on an identity level, causing me to think that i can act like a G'ed up rapper. I cant. Haha
thesquarerootof1 6y ago
I am an engineering student at university and this is what I do:
I smoke weed heavily during the summer and winter breaks when I have no classes. Then I stop completely (cold turkey) and complete the semester without touching weed. Its tough at first, but then I just get use to it.
Would anyone recommend doing that? I guess it works for me. I passed all my classes so far with only one C.

rockinhard130 6y ago
Meh, when I drink I like to smoke weed. And the next day is far more productive than if I simply drank.
Tommy_407 6y ago
Weed with a plate right before sex, or once in a while with your bros at a party is ok.
You shouldn't be doing stuff that gets you high everyday in my opinion. Anything. Even if you're Chad. It's just..so...unnecessary
[deleted] 6y ago
Incorrect it's VERY harmful. 5-6 years of experience. It is objectively bad for you no matter who you are- high is high- it's not like you get some other magic high different to weed, it's the same drug with relatively the same kind of high, and it is TERRIBLE for long term memory attention and clarity.
[deleted] 6y ago
Pussy. Peer pressure is where the Red Pill ends and the blue pill is suddenly okay?! If you want to drink, then drink - but don't justify it as acceptable because it is the norm. You know what is also the norm in this world? Being blue pilled.
On the weed part, you spoke wisdom.
KirklandCamber 6y ago
Reading comprehension? He said his pattern of drinking on the weekends is the norm, as in it coincides with the societal norm. Not that that is the reason for him to do it.
[deleted] 6y ago
The but is important in the sentence. It IS justification.
trpthrowaway2003 6y ago
A joint or a Dab (depending on tolerance) after a workout or before bed each day is completely fine.
What isn't fine, is going through a gram or more a day while neglecting your responsibilities and letting it ruin your life.
[deleted] 6y ago
Incorrect it's VERY harmful. 5-6 years of experience. It is objectively bad for you no matter who you are- high is high- it's not like you get some other magic high different to weed, it's the same drug with relatively the same kind of high, and it is TERRIBLE for long term memory attention and clarity
[deleted] 6y ago
The thing is... if I were to take one hit right now I would get very high because I haven't smoked in years. Eventually I would use more. Now a joint every night adds up over time. Everything you do adds up over time and becomes far more substantial than you rationalize in the here and now. Take a joint every night and multiply the price by 365... that's a lot of money.
Now when you think about what is really going when you smoke... you are basically introducing an chemical exogenously that, guess what, you don't fucking need!
Look at a joint for what it is... it's intrinsic value being some plant (they grow freely) wrapped up in a little piece of paper. It serves no real functional purpose. You have to smoke it to get the chemicals into your system to mimic the effect of feel good neurotransmitters (again, something that comes freely). It is artificial. Absolutely not natural. You didn't earn that good feeling. Or you may be masking a bad feeling that you should be feeling. Sometimes it is good to feel like shit.
You should be able to feel amazing without it.
trpthrowaway2003 6y ago
True, the amount I smoke (a quarter a week) is about 5k a year.
I think most people who have smoked before. Would both agree that is a pretty reasonable amount, as well as be surprised at the price when you break it down.
The stuff you buy in dispensaries is not grown freely.
Good grows, have crazy amounts of money invested in their operations.
It is a natural plant, that if ingested has positive and medicinal benefits.
For me, it seems to take away my inhibitions while also helping me just be comfortable being me.
I don't "put on the facade" so to speak.
If you feel that way, and live that way, more power to you.
But a natural plant that makes people feel good isn't a bad thing. It's better than becoming an Alcoholic, or a pillhead.
[deleted] 6y ago
I appreciate an actual response minus the insults. I agree... If you feel that way and live that way, more power to you as well!
It is a good thing that it does make you comfortable. You should be careful though as you still may have some underlying anxiety issues that should be addressed and not simply masked. I think that is what I was doing, self-medicating.
I understand that it is a natural plant... but I don't agree with this argument and think it is actually foolish. I used to say this myself. There are plenty of natural plants that are literally poisonous or contain estrogen-mimicing chemicals. In addition, smoking anything is not natural or healthy.
When I said 'not natural' I was referring to the neurological effects within the brain and the act of introducing an exogenous substance into your body. You point out some of the investment and technology that goes into producing some of these plants in dispensaries, well that is not natural! You wouldn't want to knowingly eat a cow pumped full of growth hormone, steroids, antibiotics, and a variety of other chemicals, would you? Where do we draw the line?
A quarter a week is a reasonable amount and 5k a year is a lot of money you could be saving.
Like you said again, to each his own!
trpthrowaway2003 6y ago
I've actually gotten a handle on a lot of that stuff, mostly from introspection.
Once I feel the buzz, I usually write a bit in a Journal or something. Sometimes it's comedy bit ideas or sometimes it's something deep that I want to remember and reflect on.

mutageno 6y ago
I used to think that. Tried a month off and depressive thoughts went away and got a lot more energy. Also weed used to ruin me for conversation at parties.
trpthrowaway2003 6y ago
Maybe it wasn't for you then.
Smoking pot helped me quit drinking.
Now, I smoke a nice size bowl of Indica an hour before bed, and that's about it.
mutageno 6y ago
I'd consider addressing the drive to drinking instead of changing the vice. Sometimes it's just your brain used to the dopamine kick.
trpthrowaway2003 6y ago
The drive to drink was being a young veteran, suddenly void of discipline when I got out.
A bowl or two a day, was a lot better for me than a 12-pack a day.
The 12-pack a day, granted was absolute 0 self-control.
Pot is better as well because unless you pop a powerful edible or something, you can pretty much be a functioning adult within an hour or two if you need to be.
mutageno 6y ago
hmm, can't you work out on your self-discipline, then?
I mean, it's your life. Do whatever the fuck you want. But from what you write it's not doing you any good. Hope I'm not bothering you.
trpthrowaway2003 6y ago
No bother at all
In my opinion, I have.
I don't use pot near as much as I used alcohol. I mean I have had a 6-pack of Kilt Lifter in my fridge for over a month now.
A joint or a couple bowls a day, for me, is within reasonable amounts.
Some folks may want to be completely sober, and I applaud them. But that isn't my goal.
I would prefer to learn to moderate the things I enjoy in life, rather than be someone who either can or can't with no in between.
Sure it does
It helps me sleep, it helps me with inflammation, it gives me the giggles and melts away whatever stress I had for the day.
This place is rightfully so about harsh truths and hard lines on many subjects.
But people need to remember, that no one in this sub is perfect or in the place they want to be in life, some are further than others.
Having a beer or glass of wine a night, isn't "blue pill". Being irresponsible with Alcohol is though.
Smoking a bit of pot each night to help sleep and give yourself an indulgence isn't "blue pill". Being irresponsible and letting it ruin your life is.
To me, learning not to be a glutenous self-indulging little fuck is the point.
If you personally are in a position that either morally, for habit forming reasons or by profession you can't smoke, then I understand completely.
Other than that, I think old-school propaganda or maybe bad personal experiences have given you a skewed take on marijuana.
Joe Rogan smokes a boat load of pot and that dude is neither lazy or beta.
mutageno 6y ago
Hey, didn't mean it was beta. Just was thinking in your general health. But I don't know shit about your situation so I can be completely wrong. Good luck man.
Newreddawn 6y ago
It's not social suicide to not drink. It's called socializing without being a pussy. Once you learn how to assert yourself socially without relying on the alcohol crutch, then people actually respect you. Weed is the least of your problems.
I'm far out of school, making good money and I have everything I want for the place I'm at in life. I don't suffer from any of the problems you mentioned about weed. I think over time you will realize it wasn't weed that was your problem, it was your lack of control over the substance. Happens to a ton of young people. Life is all about choices, I think weed is fine as long as you have your priorities straight (can't happen if you're suffering from addiction.)

Weed reveals your body and emotions to you better than anything else. If you get anxious, paranoid or depressed while high then your body is not free. Meditate after getting high, relax into the sensations. Weed in my opinion is not a social drug but more of a healing medicine.
Heinzdoofens 6y ago
Weed or smoking or porn or masturbation or drugs or even girls - They are an addiction.
As soon as we leave them be, our life will be much much better.
Stop Chasing Dopamine Release
Throwawayhelper420 6y ago
When you work hard for your dopamine it is more rewarding.
If not then cocaine addicts would be the happiest people in the world, but they basically never are.

Pure ignorant advice.

Stay on your path to success.
When you partake in a short-term negative impulse, it's like taking an equity loan out against tomorrow. Costs you time, and maybe gives you a hangover. Do it repeatedly, and you'll find you've followed a shitty path that has winded far away from your path to success.
Project_Thor 6y ago
Haha, you can't be serious. What do you chase then... hurr durr.
Heinzdoofens 6y ago
chase a dream, like starting a company or becoming a pilot or becoming ripped etc.
Project_Thor 6y ago
Can't do that, it releases dopamine. Fucking Autists.
burnyr 6y ago
Are you saying we should stop fucking altogether?
ATPsynthase12 6y ago
No, there is a difference between being enjoying the activity and doing it because you're addicted.
You like to fuck when you actively seek out attractive women to fuck and don't let pussy control your life. You're addicted to pussy when you'll fuck any hambeast with her legs open and will do literally anything for a girl in exchange for sexual contact.
Just like with alcohol, the quality of the woman you sleep with can determine how addicted you are to pussy. If you're bringing home the female equivalent of Pabst Blue Ribbon because she was the easiest to get, then you're probably addicted, but if your bringing home "top shelf" tier women or at least the maximum quality you can achieve then you're fine.
If the best you can do is PBR quality, then your fine, but if you should be bringing home $400 vintage wine and you're bringing home Black Booster Whisky because you're desperate then something is up.
p3n1x 6y ago
You should actually say, control your own dick. Your dick controls your life more than any vagina. Is this pedantic? Yes. Does the rephrasing matter? Yes.
Heinzdoofens 6y ago
dont get addicted to pussy
cherryCanSuckMyDick 6y ago
Ive been told its more addictive than jerking off, which I found hard to believe, but I havent popped the cork yet, so...
[deleted] 6y ago
It is. My wife and I have had sex of some sort almost every day for 31 years, sometimes 2-3 times a day. I literally can't do without my daily BJ. Sometimes it is all that gets me through the day.
p3n1x 6y ago
Some men have stronger libido's than others. Don't let some low T tell you that you are "bad" for it.
Irishminer93 6y ago
There are many different chemicals, that give you a "high", in your brain, some harmful in large quantities (which makes it hard to quit certain things) some take such a large amount that it is nearly impossible to do damage. Do a quick search for oxytocin and follow the rabbit hole. You'll realize just how bad some stuff is, in regards to mental health. This is a dumbed down version because I already wrote one thesis....
The more you fuck the less you'll want. There are exceptions of course but it's more psychological, less neurological. The more you smoke cigarettes the more you'll want. With weed I haven't come across a study that says anything meaningful, in regards to addiction.
[deleted] 6y ago
[deleted]
Irishminer93 6y ago
Masturbation and porn are actually healthy in appropriate doses. It's excessiveness that'll get you. As far as sex and testosterone go, have sex three times a day for the next week and see how long it takes you to get hard. Then, do nothing but lift for the next week and see how long it takes you to get hard. I guarantee the first week you'll be spending some time and the second week you'll go from 0 to 60 in a split second. Testosterone levels are dependent on many factors and a blanket term like sex raises testosterone is misleading.

vezokpiraka 6y ago
You mean stop chasing the only thing that gives meaning to life? Serotonin and Dopamine are the only reasons people function. Telling someone to stop chasing Dopamine releases is like telling them to stop living.
[deleted] 6y ago
It would make more sense saying "Stop Chasing Useless Dopamine Releases"
cherryCanSuckMyDick 6y ago
dont chase any kind of dopamine release that can be achieved in less than an hour?
CaptainFalcon___ 6y ago
I'm pretty late here, but the right answer is something like "Stop chasing dopamine releases that you didn't earn."
Urishima 6y ago
So if my wank takes more than an hour I am fine?
Torabor64 6y ago
Speak for yourself. RP men live for their mission, not for hedonistic pleasure.
halfback910 6y ago
Seriously? Seems the entire subreddit is about crushing pussy.
Life is ultimately meaningless. Completely meaningless if we don't enjoy it.
Torabor64 6y ago
I agree, that's the only thing people talk about, and it's a shame. I've always thought about TRP as self-improvement rather than sexual strategy, at least it feels that is the way it was intended when I revise the sidebar and the recommended books.
PreOrgasmGroanLness 6y ago
However life is meaningless so whatever is worth for you, go for it. Why bother being unhappy?
Heinzdoofens 6y ago
we get to enjoy something only after we achieve something. Frankly speaking, most of the guys here including me would be losers if we see ourselves in the mirror properly. We are failing in achieving our dreams whether it be crushing pussy or a good grade point or a job solely because we have stopped improving ourselves and started enjoying something.
It is dedicated to those of us who are addicted to something to quit it and improve ourselves, so that in the future we can enjoy a better quality of the same shit which we enjoy.
Would we be here if we were happy with our present life?
p3n1x 6y ago
For all the people who fall under this umbrella. It is time to be quiet and just listen. Then practice action.
Guys under this umbrella do not need to be handing out advice or constantly arguing against shit they have never experienced.
If you struggle with moderation, yes, work on it. But never "tell" another what their happiness should be.
p3n1x 6y ago
You are 'gate keeping' like a motherfucker.
Hedonism is amazing and is absolutely RP. Your mission is shit once you are in the ground. What is the point if you don't enjoy the journey?
Torabor64 6y ago
I'm not gatekeeping like anything, just stating what TRP is.
Read the fucking sidebar, no where you will find that the purpose of your life is to get as many girls as you can, you will find the opposite. Improve yourself, have a mission, goals, and the girls will come.
And you have it backwards, what is the point of living if you don't achieve anything? If all you want is pleasure you might as well kill yourself doing heroin, does that make any sense?
p3n1x 6y ago
What makes sense is your extremism.
empatheticapathetic 6y ago
Achieving your mission releases dopamine.
Torabor64 6y ago
Maybe, but that's not the reason you do it.
empatheticapathetic 6y ago
Of course it is. Dopamine is the ultimate reward. Except it's better to achieve it through healthy productive means that last long term instead of short term gratification.
Torabor64 6y ago
Then how come some people will go as far as killing themselves for their mission? I don't think there is any dopamine release when you are ignoring your basic surviving instincts.
EyeOfTerror 6y ago
Dopamine is not the chemical that rewards you for something, it's the chemical that gets released in anticipation of the reward.
empatheticapathetic 6y ago
Good observation. That's part of the process but don't knock the actual results and the effect they have themselves.
Mr_Get_Right 6y ago
I was a daily smoker for about 2 years. I don't regret my time. It was a deeply introspective, spiritual, and healing time. But it served it's purpose, and was hogging my energy and time resources. I found a book that helped me a bunch, "The Potless Pot High". It helped me realize that the things smoking evokes in you are always there, it's just a matter of finding it yourself.
One of the best analogies is being in a pool and not being able to swim. You can kick off the bottom and surface for a moment. That's what daily use eventually becomes. But with practicing sobriety, you can float to the top and stay there. It lacks the same rush, but you can be good fam.
I still smoke one night on the weekend, a tiny amount that gets me blazed(because I keep my tolerance low) and is an amazing experience and invaluable perspective shift.
Right now this is a fine application for myself. But when I needed advice from trp and they said "stop smoking everyday" I DIDN'T WANT TO HEAR THAT. But, it's your own path to walk.
doc_mollusk 6y ago
Dude every night I roll a joint and smoke up, that's red pill AF dude
LordDongler 6y ago
Or you can be responsible and wait until you're done for the day. If anything, it can motivate you to get stuff done if you set goals for yourself.
mortalcoil1 6y ago
I stopped smoking weed about 8 years ago. It was starting to make me paranoid. This year I got diagnosed with diabetes. I'm fit, but my whole family has diabetes, fucking genetics. The medicine was making me EXTREMELY ill. I was being sent home from work. I was laying in bed for hours. Finally, I remembered weed. Considering I'm an "adult" now with an adult life style it was weird going back into it. I smoke just a few puffs of high CBD before bed. I feel great. My nausea has gone waaaay down. My insomnia is mostly cured. Also, after a heavy weight lifting session sometimes I am extremely sore. This just takes the pain away.
Drugs are a tool. I guarantee a lot of people on TRP are on Adderall. That's just pharmaceutical grade speed. Don't take you speed and shit on weed. Any drug can be abused, but most drugs can have benefits if used responsibly.

This is some good shit for you to read. You're always telling me that "you're relaxing" or "it's ok to relax". Obv I know you don't smoke. But you can take the context and apply it to anything. Point is, smoking, drinking, etc make you ok with something that you shouldn't actually be ok with. When someone is unsuccessful, they shouldn't be relaxing... they should be working their ass off to change that.

Guy in his 50's here-My comment: Amen.
For decades now I've watched men of all ages waste an insane amount of their best years smoking weed and playing video games. Just earlier today (Sunday) I was at my apt. building showing an apartment and one of my tenants, 40's, was literally wearing the same thing he was on Friday having done nothing but weed and PS4 and wearing the same Seahawks jersey the whole time. Life keeps wasting away.
nottherealguyfieri 6y ago
It's not the substance, it's the person who has the problem. Do whatever you want as long as you're not being a dumb pothead or a belligerent alcoholic and you are constantly progressing in life.
Fedor_Gavnyukov 6y ago
smoking weed doesn't necessarily mean you're a pothead. you were a pothead, so you quit. doesn't apply to everyone.
BrodinsOats 6y ago
Chronic daily cannabis usage will cause ADHD-like symptoms (distractibility, reward-seeking) and increase baseline social anxiety, negatively affecting your sociability.
All while you're not even high. Even if you just consume a little bit in the evening before bedtime. And it does so in a very subtle but powerful manner. It's very insidious.
This is as-told to me by my psychiatrist and neurofeedback technician, and then confirmed by my experience.
That's not to say that it's without its merits. But the costs rapidly start to outweigh the benefits when you consume regularly (daily or several times per week).
Edit—read for yourself: An Evidence Based Review of Acute and Long-Term Effects of Cannabis Use on Executive Cognitive Functions.
[deleted] 6y ago
Interesting read. I wonder though, if the study controlled for other factors. For example someone who is inherently impulsive may be more likely to do drugs. Or someone who has low dopamine. Or someone who has ADHD (if the study required participants to disclose their medical history, but the person's ADHD may be undiagnosed).
BrodinsOats 6y ago
I think these are all addressed by the fact that there were generally improvements in these markers following abstinence.
[deleted] 6y ago
True, but it's hard to tell if there's no baseline. If they started off with low scores in attention/cognitive, smoked weed and it worsened, their improvement following abstinence may just take them back to where they started which is better, but not optimal.
aanarchist 6y ago
i'd say it only lets out what was already there but buried. when i smoke i become hyper focused when i have a task i want to complete and my sensitivity to stimulus goes up so i can do things with precision and speed. my social inhibition goes down and i can have more fun around people and just crack jokes that even when they're retarded my energy is so good that people can't help but give into it. if you turn into a beta with adhd when you smoke, it's because you haven't done the inner work necessary to not be a beta with adhd. don't blame the substance, blame yourself. people are always looking to blame things outside of themselves for their problems, whether it's a woman, alcohol, drugs, their boss, whatever. it's always on them when they fuck up, they make their own choices, whether those choices are internally motivated or externally. if anything i want more people smoking and thinking about what's happening to their mind and body and analyze and apply solutions.
BrodinsOats 6y ago
You are wrong.
OriginalName123123 6y ago
Is ocasional use fine (once a month)?
BrodinsOats 6y ago
I believe it can take around 21 days for THC and metabolites to be eliminated from your body. It's better than using often, but worse than complete abstinence.

Yeah my attention and mental willpower is not what it used to be nor is my memory. I meditate also to increase concentration. Weed is INCREDIBLY bad for you, I smoked for 5 years or more and know this 100%. People who say otherwise are fucking lying scum or deluded about it like I was and promoting a damaging drug.
BrodinsOats 6y ago
Simply stopping will reverse the effects. If it's already been 10 years then idk, I can't speak to that.
Neurofeedback is effective at reversing the effects, too. It's like meditation on steroids. Look up a Joe Rogan episode on neurofeedback with Dr. Andrew Hill.
Edit: I've also found social media to have a similar negative effect on attention. Including Reddit.
[deleted] 6y ago

Stopping definitely has reversed the effects and I have a lot more clarity but I can tell there is still some long term effects like on attention and memory perhaps but am unsure because it could be anything like long term computer use etc.
PreOrgasmGroanLness 6y ago
Disagree. Micro toking weed is one of the best things happening to my mental state
BrodinsOats 6y ago
It is effective as an antidepressant, or for coping with stress. But there is a cost, as I described.
It will keep you stagnant. It's an avoidant coping mechanism. It will prevent you from developing the ability to manage negative emotions on your own.
Throwawayhelper420 6y ago
I promise you there are better ways though.
You are taking the easy way out, the easy way out isn't ever as rewarding.
Is it easy to smoke weed? Do you immediately get relief you didn't really earn? Just that by itself has negative effects.
PreOrgasmGroanLness 6y ago
How big of a toke are we talking about here? Did you read my post that I meant micro tokes? I don't even any change in consciousness. Smoking occassionally I've noticed only benefits and I've been doing it for years. The insight, the drive to organize my living space, the exit from thought loops, it's all there. I used to think I should never use anything external like this because somehow it is worse. But I can't see why I shouldn't use micro doses of LSD and weed here and there when there are clear benefits. It honestly feels like I am stripping myself from the best I can get. It's like if you could choose between a beautiful girl and a more beautiful girl (being the same in other aspects) and you'd choose the former.
Plus, do you ever take medication, drink alcohol, or put simply do anything to reward yourself just in for itself? Be it coffee or cocoa or sex. It's just a matter of preferences. I rarely if ever take painkilling medication. Do you? Does that make you choose the easy way out?
If you are to promise, don't. Just show what you know. I never make promises.
Throwawayhelper420 6y ago
You are right about promises and I will take that advice to heart.
My perspective does come from a former poly-drug/opiate/weed/benzo addict, who considered myself clean when I only took 1 hit of weed every night from a one hitter to help me sleep. I would still feel lack of motivation the next morning, and I "had" to take that hit to get to sleep, I wouldn't even try to get into bed without it.
Any increases in productivity were offset by a lower baseline of productivity. When I completely stopped after about 2 weeks I found I was sleeping better than ever, having better/stronger dreams and remembering them, and would wake up in the morning immediately ready to lift and get my shit done.
I don't have a problem with micro dosing unless it's done almost every day, I see that as drug addiction being rationalized. It is needing to change your feelings/mind every day with the use of chemicals. I do drink coffee and recognize the hypocrisy, and I do intend on cutting all hypocrisy from my life. I feel different about sex as I can say I "earned it", the most earning I did to get weed was drive to my dealers house who gives weed to anyone with money(like a prostitute). I feel differently about Tylenol because it only gets rid of a headache, and it's the only way to get rid of a headache, I can't work hard away a headache, and it doesn't change my mood so I don't crave it, I don't look forward to it, my day feels complete with or without it.
But you are right that not everyone is the same. If you truly enjoy it who am I to say not to? This is merely my experience, sometimes I get wrapped up in absolutism.
EDIT: Edited for a little more clarity.
PreOrgasmGroanLness 6y ago
Yeah I don't smoke every day. I get myself a gram every few months and it lasts me all this time. I myself am surprised how does this work so well because I do have strong history with other drugs. I guess I could say that what's learnt from parents is learnt, lol... My parents had strong IV speed addiction, yet my mom when she smoked weed she'd use very little, almost never got "stoned" and she smokes less and less, claiming reverse tolerance hah. So do I.
I hope this clears it up
Throwawayhelper420 6y ago
If I have drugs in my possession, I do them every day until they are gone. I wish it wasn't so but it is so I can't even attempt sporadic micro dosing, though I wish I could, maybe one day after enough self improvement.
My dependence on mind alteration is one of the reasons I found the red pill, real men don't do what I was doing.
Surprisedtohaveajob 6y ago
You are right. Last week, I was visiting someone I care about, who is in psychiatric care. I had a chance to speak to his Dr. The Dr was blunt in his assessment. The condition was a result of weed. The Dr took me out in to the hallway, and pointed at a couple of 40 to 50 year old men, standing mindlessly in the hall. He said, what they "have in common is marijuana".
He spoke about how some people can smoke, and walk away from it, but that others pay a high price, especially with Anxiety, Depression, and Paranoia. And he's said it is getting harder to help these people, because when he tries to talk to the patients, or their families, the frequent response is now, "well it's about to be legal anyways." [this is in Canada]. He sounded really frustrated, and I think he spoke to me probably because he needed to vent.
Throwawayhelper420 6y ago
Sounds like you know a bad Dr who is stuck in the 70s. There's been no evidence showing weed can do that, the closest thing is that it can cause latent, but eventually guaranteed, mental illness to manifest earlier. He probably could have pointed to them and said "what they have in common is alcohol" or cheese, or stress, or lack of exercise, or if he's smart just mental illness.
No doubt I'm glad I quit smoking weed, but not because I was afraid of being turned schizophrenic, I just feel manlier and I think weed may have been increasing estrogen and decreasing testosterone.
Surprisedtohaveajob 6y ago
It wasn't schizophrenia that was not the problem; it was severe anxiety that the people were suffering from. He spoke about schizophrenia, and says he suspects there is a link, but that the data is not there to support a causation affect (effect?). He said however that there is growing evidence to support a link to psychosis, and also long-term anxiety problems. He actually talked to me a lot, but much of it was over my head.
And the Dr was at one of Canada's leading teaching hospitals, and was younger than me. He, and two of the mental health nurses, that I spoke to, all indicated that marijuana is a huge concern to them. He actually referred to the drug as insidious.

It's just like alcohol. Don't smoke every day just like don't drink every day. Honestly is that so hard to understand? If you HAVE to smoke to be happy, you just need to reevaluate your life choices.
[deleted] 6y ago
I agree in principal. It's easier said than done though. With alcohol, if I tried to drink everyday I would be disgusted and not want to do it anymore very quickly. I think this is true for basically everyone that is not an alcoholic. With weed... it's just so easy to be high all the time.
yuyevin 6y ago
I used to be an every day smoker. For probably about 6 years straight. But once I stopped, I noticed a lot less overall fatigue and depression in myself, and honestly it's not that hard to stop. Just find something to occupy your time with. If you feel the want to smoke a bowl, go take a walk, go to the gym, go for a hike. Replace that high with a better natural high.
[deleted] 6y ago
There is certainly nothing wrong with a little unwinding with some pot. It certainly affects people differently but really there is no one way to lead ones life. To much of anything is normally bad, control is key with certain things in life.
Digons 6y ago
Fuck weed. If you, a stoner, had a chance of stopping smoking to do other things, would you? I'm pretty sure 99% of you would.
blackedoutfast 6y ago
alcohol is so much worse than weed. alcohol is terrible for your body and brain. it makes you act like a dumbass. and it's very addictive. and if you get too addicted, you can actually die from alcohol withdrawal if you try to quit cold turkey. alcohol is a terrible drug, it's just legal and socially acceptable.
if you smoke weed and it makes you lazy, it's probably because you're smoking the wrong strain. different types can have vastly different effects. indicas cause that very relaxed, chill out, lazy type of high. sativas are a lot more energetic and give you a mental buzz almost like a stimulant.

It is objectively bad for you no matter who you are- high is high- it's not like you get some other magic high different to weed, it's the same drug with relatively the same kind of high, and it is TERRIBLE for long term memory attention and clarity
overcomplicate 6y ago
What do you mean incorrect, I was correct I did get stoned and read this later
[deleted] 6y ago
I was just posting this around without really looking at the comment too closely so people here can see that many stoners that get high for years eventually realize this and come to the same conclusion as I have.
Chiptehubah 6y ago
Nearly 300 comments, damn man you stirred the pot (no pun intended)
A lot of people here are exceptions to the rule in regards to reward seeking, so your message might only be relevant to half the people who read it as opposed to the majority of traditional communities.
Just to add to the shitstorm going on here - for the past 4 years Ive been taking upwards of 8-10 dabs a day on average. Some days 20, some days 3 or 4. I don't get blazed from thc anymore, I enjoy the act of smoking and the very weak effect it has on my emotional state. There have been months at a time Ive gone without, it doesn't take long for me to adjust.
But Im definitely an exception, I know people who couldn't handle half as much as I do without losing sight of their mission in life. I did once, or a few times, but it took much stronger drugs to bring me down to that level. At that time I observed that literally no one else who was involved in hard drugs could resist the inevitable draw towards failure. I was lucky enough to last years before I fell to it.
Genetics, willpower, luck, who knows where the meaningful differences lie. In the end you have to tailor your life to what you personally can adapt to
[deleted] 6y ago
Weed is fine if you can wait til you do everything you need to get done in the day before you smoke and then just smoke to unwind at the end of the day. Waking and baking and toking all throughout the day is brutal.

Have you considered that 'others' are a miniscule amount of people when compared to the vast majority of people who experience memory loss and issues focusing from smoking weed
isweartoofuckingmuch 6y ago
I have. I know people who weed is detrimental for. I also know people who weed is not detrimental for, and who's life is actually better because of it, which is why these types of posts are retarded
Also I'll need a study for the vast majority of people who experience memory loss and issues focusing

It is a proven fact (by repeatable experimentation by millions) that you get memory impairment while high and while drunk. EVERYONE knows this.

Hmmmm... Not to toot any horns, simply just a rebuttal to your comment, but I smoked weed all through high school and college. I think there's a flaw to your argument.

You know nothing and are blinded by ignorance.
[deleted] 6y ago
Lol you're in denial everyone knows getting high screws with your memory, at least while high, and the fact that it is a mind-altering substance is also undeniable, which means you're a druggie using mind altering substances and don't understand the seriousness of life.
thedoze 6y ago
Lol of course it's mind altering. That's the point. So is alcohol caffeine sugar and tons of other shit, like exercise, sex, and learning.
[deleted] 6y ago
First off, caffeine and sugar obviously don't get you 'high' in nearly the same way lol, exercise is pretty much a basic human function since humanity begun, same with sex and learning. Alcohol of course is bad for you, that's obvious. Stop being in denial, smoking weed fucks with your memory/clarity/attention, that's all obvious as fuck too.
thedoze 6y ago
im not saying it doesnt effect you, im saying that blaming pot for your failures is weak.
atlantique16 6y ago
I am a young man that has a lot of value in my life. I smoke to relax and to help relive physical stress (I'm a MMA fighter CBD/THC does help). I don't spend money on weed, matter of fact I sell it. For me to smoke a blunt (I rarely do) would cost me $3-5, while average people $10.
max_peenor 6y ago
Drugs are tools. Dangerous and sometimes. unpredictable tools.
The utility of weed is to put you to sleep, dull chronic pain and quite a busy mind. If you are in your 20s, you shouldn't have problems with sleep or chronic pain, and you should always have a busy mind. Stay the fuck away from it. If you are in your 50s with a blown back and years of nagging monsters, then blaze motherfucker, blaze.
I'm also fairly convinced that regular cannabis usage under 25 will fuck you up in the long term. However, I can't believe we actually banned this stuff.
Bmoutopoul 6y ago
Just curious why you think chronic use under 25 will fuck you up. I know the brain is still developing in your early 20s
Captain_Sorbo 6y ago
On the psychology side some use weed to treat stress and emotions rather than building the mental toolkit to deal with life problems.

OpiumDesVolkes84 6y ago
I went through a honeymoon phase where weed was super positive. Socializing became easier especially with other stoners, I was happy, creative, and enhanced listening to music. Even helped me write papers while in college.
However over time I developed anxiety and had my first major panic attack while high. Smoking did make me complacent and actually made me avoid socializing.
I always thought it was hindering my growth with NoFap as well.
GIGANTIC_NIGGER_DICK 6y ago
There is definitely a BIG honeymoon aspect to weed, I expedienced that when I picked up the habit at 21.
For me, it the absolute best thing to do before a workout. I would smoke before every workout, and it felt amazing. Also, I didn't need much to get high, just a little one-hitter. I had so much energy and creativity. I'd be on the treadmill and ideas for various things would just come to me, I'd be typing out ideas on my phone while running on the elliptical.
Now a days, tolerance has hit me like a ton of bricks. I don't smoke everyday any more, and when I smoke more than once in the same day, I notice much reduced feelings from the weed on my second session. For maximum effect, I like to keep at least 24 hours in between time sessions, and 48-72 hours if I can stretch it.
ravenhiss 6y ago
This isn't a Red Pill issue. Sure there are lots of people who have their own issues with weed and can see it interfering with their RP goals, but there are others owning all their goals, high as fuck.
My personal weed experience is far from the norm, started smoking late 20s and I also used it as a motivator to do things I didn't want to do. Don't want to do cardio? Have a cone and start, and before you know it, mean cardio workout. Don't want to clean? Have a cone and start, and before you know it, things I didn't even know were dirty or needed sorting are done.
All in all it's a personal choice. The biggest test to see if you have a healthy attitude though is to observe how you react when someone disagrees with your weed stance. If you get angry, then you most likely have the issue.
atlantique16 6y ago
The fastest human on land smokes weed and the fastest swimming human smokes weed. I agree people still crush their goals high as fuck.

Cannot believe there is so much support for Pot. Every time I have known someone who smokes pot, something is dead in their brain. No fire to succeed, no alertness to see when the ground changes, complacency is in their place. Nothing infuriates me more than mimimum effort and complacency.
BestSC86 6y ago
Apparently one of the prime results of weed is that it destroys the user's self awareness that they are substantially different that what their weed induced mind is telling them.
I have had baked out potheads swear to death that they are more intelligent and energetic....while the rest of the room is trying to actually figure out what that user is trying to say.
But people gonna do what they are donna do...less competition.
loserallday 6y ago
I haven't smoked much since high school, but when I did smoke at that time weed made me super talkative for some reason, I would start talking to random people, cute girls etc, which I liked since I was a shy kid. To this day I don't know why since everyone says that weed makes them anxious and quiet around other people.
OpiumDesVolkes84 6y ago
Many people start with a positive honeymoon period. I was like that as well.
However long term chronic use of weed tends to bring on anxiety, panic attacks, and social isolation. I think if you use it sparingly you'll be fine but when you abuse it problems arise.
[deleted] 6y ago
weed is an awesome aphrodesiac
[deleted] 6y ago
I love getting high and getting a girl over to bang, watch a movie and go get a burger etc... I think the key to any drug use is self awareness and knowing when a particular substance is having a negative effect on your life

holy shit.. yep this is me. i always tell myself i smoke moderately.. but i'm always totally looking forward to smoke it.. what have i accomplished lately? nothing. I just quit my job because i couldn't handle it anymore and now i game all day. fuck.

I smoked a decent amount during my highschool years, I hope I didn't do any damage like memory problems and iq drop. I've read about that a little. Someone affirm my belief that I'm okay.

Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties, unrelated to NMDA receptor antagonism.

It is a proven fact (by repeatable experimentation by millions) that you get memory impairment while high and while drunk. EVERYONE knows this, it's fucking undeniable. Are you denying this?
A drug addict telling me I'm a liar lol.

I see you did NOT read the links provided and still bang on like an empty barrel lol
But you don't need to worry about it as you need a brain to protect in the first place ,, so you needn't worry

Will your links disprove the fact every person knows which is that alcohol and marijuana distort your memory and obviously distort your mental faculties otherwise there wouldn't be such a word as 'being high'. You support distorting your mental faculties with a drug, that's stupid. You're just defending your drug, addict.

So true. More often if you don't feel like you could "lose it" mentally
[deleted] 6y ago

Probably to lose control of their thoughts/trips. A big issue some people have with psychedelics is that they just can't "go with the flow" or just accept where their trip is going and then get stuck in bad thoughts because they want to keep control at all times.
Though for some people doing psychedelics too often can make then feel like they lose touch with reality as well. It's pretty unlikely to go mentally insane from a trip, unless you're genetically predisposed to a mental illness.
[deleted] 6y ago
[deleted]
4-Methylaminorekt 6y ago
I used to think similar things actually. I was sure my usual thoughts and how I think about life and such would cause me to freak out because they are what's considered "fucked up" by most people.
Though I decided to try them once and found out that psychedelics are rather what you want them to be. On a low dose of a psychedelic with less "mindfuck" I noticed that I could choose to use them on a spiritual way or just as a recreational substance, playing with the colourful visuals. Every time I started to think about something that made the experience feel more negative (like the death of a friend) I'd change the song or look at some psychedelic art and focus on the visuals. The trip instantly changed from "what happened that time was fucked up, I could have helped" to a "look at those nice colors and shapes" type of trip.
It's really interesting how much influence you have on what you perceive the substance as. Now I don't want to pressure you in any way to take psychedelics, if it came across that way. I just wanted to share my experience with it, maybe you'll reconsider it someday.
[deleted] 6y ago

4-Methylaminorekt 6y ago
No problem. Funnily enough, I can handle a full blown trip just fine but I had the worst panic attack of my life on a microdose of 3 mcg of LSD. Strange how that effects everyone differently.
Though I can totally understand you there, it's definitely not for everyone. In any case, good luck!

4-Methylaminorekt 6y ago
Lol, I just had the image of some guy in a thought loop repeating "Here we go boys, full mental breakdown" for hours on end.
I think everyone has to answer themselves if they really can handle tripping. If you think you can't, this just shows that you have actually considered the topic carefully.Good on you for being responsible in this regard, there are other ways for spiritual growth anyways.

Thank you for this. I was pointing this argument towards people who are actively trying to find their mission and are trying to build something of value in their life. It sounds like you are at a point where you have found the things in life you value and a lifestyle you like. These are the things I have not experienced, which is why I want discussion on this!

Well, it did help him turn a mechanical engineering degree into a pizza delivery gig where he can smoke weed all day long in between deliveries....<rolls eyes>
Honestly, one of the biggest mind altering aspect of weed apparently is that it triggers something in the brain which completely destroys the user's ability to recognize that they have substantial changed to "vegs". Every pothead I have ever met swears on their mother's grave that it has no impact on their mental capabilities or motivation at all, while the rest of us were trying to figure out what the hell they were trying to communicate and watching them scurry around daily doing little else but smoking and making munchy\stash runs.
But I stop arguing years ago....it is just less competition in life.
[deleted] 6y ago
THANK YOU, SOME WISDOM. The problem is that smoking weed puts you in such a different state of mind, and that state of mind actually does have serious 'upsides' like granting a different perspective which can be a powerful thing, and so they love/are addicted to it and don't realize how badly it is ruining their mental clarity/attention/memory and how addicted they act until it's too late and weed has ruined some aspect of their lives.
I know this, I smoked for 5-6 years! It's not a case of 'it effects everyone differently', lol. Imagine if some alcoholic told you 'alcohol effects everyone differently it doesn't have downsides for me', FUCKING LOL.
[deleted] 6y ago
[deleted]
[deleted] 6y ago
Yes but that smokers deny the downsides is literally retarded, they are just blinded by their love of it. I smoked for 5 years it's not like I don't get it all.
iBchyllen247365 6y ago
I can see the rationalization but the argument treats weed like a black and white thing that doesn't vary person to person.
There have been many men that have contributed greatly to society while being complete potheads. Red pill men.
In my experience, weed just translates behavioral patterns that already exist. Most of the time, a lazy pothead is lazy in general.
Like anything else in life, moderate.
goatwithbeergoggles 6y ago
They're the exception, not the rule.
iBchyllen247365 6y ago
I wouldn't be so sure of that. I can provide countless examples of potheads who have contributed greatly to humanity, from kings and pharaohs to writers, philosophers and inventors.
OPs whole argument should just say that the average smoker is probably just an average person.
[deleted] 6y ago

Black and white restrictive thinking. Learn to see things on a spectrum. Weed is very obviously NOT objectively bad for people.
Understand that two elements are required to experience the weed. 1) weed 2) the human brain.
As someone who has smoked everyday for the past 5 years with hundreds of people, I can confidently conclude that people's highs can be very different based upon the state of the brain (the lens) through which it is experienced.
The lasting effects (thought processes started and/or developed while high that carry on into sober life) also vary person to person. If your frame is solid, you can experiment with drugs and be fine. It is about self-control, discipline, and moderation. The same qualities that a valuable man should possess anyway.
There are loads of weed smokers that will most likely bring more value (subjective) to this world than OP or yourself due to the restrictions you place on yourself through the black and white lens you wish to view the world through. This world is not that simple. Do not restrict your brain to make shit easier to understand. Embrace the fact that you don't know shit and go do some research and field testing.
[deleted] 6y ago
Going to disprove you undeniably: Think about how retarded a person would sound if they said: "Alcohol effects everyone differently bro!"
LOLOLFUCKINGLOLOLOLOL are you really using that excuse? Sure, maybe it does effect people differently, BUT WEED STILL GETS YOU HIGH<<<<<<<
Another bad argument: "People that smoke weed or drink can still achieve a lot and be disciplined" HOW THE FUCK IS THAT RELEVANT TO THE FACT THAT DRINKING AND SMOKING IS BAD FOR YOU?
YOU ARE IN DENIAL
iBchyllen247365 6y ago
Oh gosh, you don't belong in TRP. I am sorry you have inherited the brain you have. Life is truly wonderful at IQs above 4.

Top comment nailed it. Smoking weed and video games are the only two "BP" things I do. The video game habit hasnt been an issue since 05, I was addicted to Halo 2 for about 6 months after release and literally did nothing else. One day, the servers were down, so I went outside and played sports with my friends and realized what used to be a daily activity for me went on a 6 month hiatus for this stupid game. From then on, I've made it a point to only play them when I need to give my brain a break or when I stream (potential stream of income in the future)
Smoking weed, I recently realized I want to cut back heavily. Yea I still get shit done, but like you mentioned, Im becoming too dependent about certain aspects of it and I hate being depwndent on anything. I used to do it just cause, but now I only use it to help down a big meal after a workout and before I go to sleep. Even then, it bothers me because what if I take a vacation? I'm not about to start stuffing weed in my ass.
You know what bro? Thanks for posting this. I'm actually smoking a blunt right now, but this is the last time for real. As I was typing this, I realized I'm selling myself short keeping this shit up.
[deleted] 6y ago

PunkYetii 6y ago
Agreed.
I've never smoked weed in my life and just started 5 months ago at 27 years old. I just smoke once a night, some sort of indica strain, and it has improved my sleep immensely.
I don't smoke recreationally, and we'll always decline when I'm offered during the day, because the high doesn't excite me. What does excite me is not waking up feeling like shit every morning, which weed helps with.
So, in my opinion smoking weed every day does not always need to be considered counter productive.
[deleted] 6y ago
I smoked marijuana while in college.
I could get As in any language class and ace the tests while high. Languages come to me very easily.
...but when I switched from international business and languages to Physics for Engineering...
...I needed to cut that shit out quick. Maybe the occasional puff every few weeks was OK, but you need every ounce of short term and long term memory (at least I did) to do well enough to make it to grad school in physics.
Deadlybeef 6y ago
Weed is, unfortunately, currently a big part of my life. I'm trying to get rid of it, but if you've been smoking weed every day for the past 15 years.. well.. you're kinda addicted. It's not easy letting go, because as you said, it's just to easy to use and get away with it. Every god damn evening, while sitting high AF in front of my computer, I always think to myself: "today's the last day I smoke that shit that makes me melt into my couch".. but alas, the next day the addiction takes over, and as soon as the first hi from the bong sinks in... I think to myself: "why?! was is so fucking hard NOT TO FUCKING smoke that bong?!"... Yes, it was.
Canedude08 6y ago
1 simple word: MODERATION
Don't do anything past that point. If you want to occasionally smoke weed, that's fine, when it becomes the end all be all, then that's when you have a problem. Weed doesn't make people lazy, lazy people smoke weed, and then blame it for them being lazy. Just like video games doesn't make for lazy, socially inept people, lazy, socially inept people tend to flock to video games. Be a self starter, know your damn limits.

Meh I see this a lot from people who can't manage their time even when they are sober. If you can't handle being a functional smoker, doesn't mean others can't. This is hardly red pill advice.
dal2k305 6y ago
One time that I got locked up a guy made a great analogy about weed that has always stuck with me.
If I have a shitty pair of shoes, all messed up the soles coming off, When I'm sober I go and buy a new pair shoes. When I'm high all the time I'll think that the shoes ain't that bad, they can last a few more days, why was I stressing so much.

Hey old man winter. How you doing college senior.
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.
[deleted] 6y ago
Where does that quote come from?
Or are you referring to the general tendency towards acceptable lawbreaking.
alcaholicost 6y ago
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. I:40 This famous statement derives from several historic precedents, including that of François Rabelais in describing the rule of his Abbey of Thélème in Gargantua and Pantagruel: Fait ce que vouldras (Do what thou wilt), which was later used by the Hellfire Club established by Sir Francis Dashwood. It is also similar to the Wiccan proverb: An ye harm none, do what thou wilt; but the oldest known statement of a similar assertion is that of St. Augustine of Hippo: Love, and do what thou wilt.
I copypastaed from a wiki page on Aleister Crowley, I think I first read that in the book Illumintus.
[deleted] 6y ago
Why is that relevant? Not trying to be rude.
Is it just because marijuana should be legal?
alcaholicost 6y ago
Just do what you want, is what I was trying to say. I think you asked for a source, and I looked for one. I disagree with Op on recreational drug use.
[deleted] 6y ago
Gotcha.
I think moderation is key. I also think MJ should be legal.... but I don't think every drug should be.
