So if I need to eat 3000 calories in a day, is it okay to eat it in 2 meals?
So for example starting with a meal which contains 1500 calories, then a couple of hours later another meal which consists of 1500 calories. Sometimes I feel hunger inbetween the meals, but is this bad to experience while trying to gain size?

Most people can only absorb and use so much protein as protein in one meal, usually around 30-40 grams or so.
Any excess, the calories will be converted to fat.
Do whatever you want, but you'll have better results spreading your meals out.
Problematic_Browser 1 1y ago
You can only absorb so many calories and nutrients at a time, you'll shit out the rest. Try to space your meals a bit more evenly throughout the day.
coolsocks00 1 1y ago
You can, but it's subpar to regular meals so you'll be putting yourself at a disadvantage.
whytehorse2021 1y ago
Doesn't matter. We evolved to feast and famine. Eat when you're hungry. I go on 1 meal/day sometimes... 2 meals... 3 meals... 3 meals is really too much for me if I'm not doing intense physical labor all day.
miserabletogreat 1y ago
Yeah, I don't mind too.
But I was just wondering if I get hungry, will my body then eat from my muscles or fat or something? (read that somewhere)
I think that that would happen if I haven't eaten for a much longer period of time, but I am just making sure...
Thanks!

I think your body will always eat from fat before muscle, but it will eat from carbs before fat. So the trick is to get your carbs before and/or during your workout or right after.

Uh....
I mean
The small intestine can only gather so many nutrients from food at once. The small intestine will slow down movement if there is more food than normal to increase chances of nutrient gathering
But still, there is a good chance it will not absorb everything in the time it passes
You'd be better off spreading your meals to be honest
Also, protein has a limited amount that can be absorbed at once.
If you're eating 75 grams of protein in a sitting you are not going to digest all 75.
Just spread it out to ensure you're getting what you need

Some retard actually downvoted you, but you're 100% correct.

Greatly appreciated, some retards be worshipping bro-science out there

So that's why corn comes out in our poop wholly intact...
Vermillion-Rx Admin 1y ago
Corn comes out in tact if unchewed for other reasons
dongking 1y ago
Source that a man cannot digest 75g protein from one meal?
Bonus questions:
What's the cut off then? i.e. is it 30g per meal that is max digestable?
Vermillion-Rx Admin 1y ago
I don't remember a source I read 7 years ago
I did a lot of looking up of information on it and also the small intestine only has certain time to digest. I learned that in my biomedical sciences class
Yes. Some articles said it's about 30-40g
I also read it in a reputable workout book
dongking 1y ago
It's bogus though. All recent studies clearly shows thay your body will still digest and absorb any excess protein of 0.4g/kg/meal - just that it takes longer.
The only thing that matters is total per day, per week, per month and year. i.e. that you're consistent.
If you choose to eat one meal (OMAD), 2 or even 3 - that's a personal preference.
It is however quite clear that eating 6-8 meals/day that bodybuilders did in the 60-70's is not good for anything.
Fasting and letting the gut, blood sugar and insulin levels rest is much healthier than eating every 2h when you're awake.
Typo-MAGAshiv 1 1y ago
No, he's right. Depending on the individual, one can only digest and absorb so much protein as protein at once, usually 30-40 grams.
Excess calories will be converted to fat.
dongking 1y ago
No. That's been debunked ages ago.
Similar to how many people still believe butter, eggs and saturated fats to be dangerous. It's a myth.
https://examine.com/articles/how-much-protein-can-you-eat-in-one-sitting/
Quite logical too. Humans have been eating OMAD longer than anything else. i.e. evolution.

Scientists change their minds all the time. When things work how they're supposed to, it's based on new evidence and nothing else.
If any of us learned anything from the scamdemic, though, it should be that our current crop of scientists go with what is politically expedient and/or gets them more money/power.
I can tell you what worked for me when I was in the Army and struggling to lose that pesky last 2% or so of my bodyfat: eating smaller amounts every 3 hours instead of 2 or 3 large meals. I didn't go hungry, and I lost the fat, and I was adding muscle mass simultaneously.
And as your own source says:
OP, @miserabletogreat, try different approaches. Give each approach you try as couple of months or so (longer if you feel great, shorter if you feel like garbage). See what works for you.
dongking 1y ago
Yeah, and the scam is that you'd need to eat small meals all day. i.e. high consumption, fast food etc.
It's a big part of why americans are so obese too. All you guys do is eat and snack all day beCaUse ItS gOoD FoR yOu tO EaT OfTeN.
There is neither any logical or scientific arguments for this. Simply a scam.
Typo-MAGAshiv 1 1y ago
Who the fuck said anything about fast food? Are you retarded? Fast food is poison.
I'll say it again, only this time I'll spell it out for you since you're being deliberately dense and obtuse:
I simultaneously lost fat and gained muscle eating small meals every 3 hours. These small meals were lean protein (such as chicken or fish), complex carbohydrate (such as oatmeal, sweet potato, brown rice), and fruit/vegetables (raw, steamed, or roasted). No sauces. No beverage other than water. No packaged garbage, only natural wholesome food. I did not get these results from 2-3 large meals per day, which was how I'd been doing things before finding out about this method.
Most Americans are obese because they eat garbage. When you eat garbage, it makes zero difference whether you pig out all at once or snack all day. I've seen them do both, and complain that they can't lose weight, and much like you, they get apoplectic with rage when I tell them what worked for me and suggest they ditch the pre-cooked cheeseburger for a chicken breast and sweet potato they cook themselves.
Sure there is. I did it, and it worked. You can rage-smack your keyboard or phone all you want, but it worked.
Really? Scams have someone who profits off the victim or victims. Who benefited from my eating healthy every 3 hours besides me? How was I a scam victim, when I got exactly the results I wanted?
Anyway, I'll address the OP @miserabletogreat: it's no skin off my ass either way. I gain nothing and lose nothing no matter what you do. Try his way. Try my way. Try other ways. See what works for you, and what you can stick with.
dongking 1y ago
Do you think I give a fuck about your subjective experience? Specially when you can't even comprehend why you lost the weight.
Hint: it's because you were in a caloric deficit.
Do you believe it's easier to be in a caloric deficit with 1 meal/day or 6 meals/day?
You claimed this;
Which I proved is clearly incorrect. Why even make such a bold claim if you barely know anything on the subject?
Einsamer 1y ago
Yes you'll be fine, but unless you also need to reduce your BFP I suggest that to take in protein in between your meals 2 or 3 times a day and 10-30g of protein. E.g. as a shake or a protein bar.
kv2_0833 1y ago
Yes. Source: I am 175lbs 9% bodyfat, and play a shit ton of sports. I'm too lazy to make food for 3 meals so I usually eat a decent lunch and a giant dinner. I'll snack in the evenings tho, usually around 3k cals
whytehorse2021 1y ago
Your snacks are 3k cal?
kv2_0833 1y ago
nah food total for the day adds up to about 3k-3.5k cal. My snacks are usually muffins (400 cal) and popcorn (500 cal). Not ideal for the healthy-minded but it's been getting the job done for me
