About Gayle:
One of the most popular cricketers of the current era, due to his explosive and entertaining batting style.
About the incident:
So, a massage therapist, alleged that Gayle 'partially exposed' himself (how else do you get a massage, in a burqa?), making her 'uncomfortable'.
He maintains frame and deny everything, instead of having a meltdown. As his teammate was with him in the dressing room at the time of incident, he knew he had nothing on him.
She then goes for the classic, toxic femininity trait, 'public shaming', for that she 'hires' 3 newspapers as white knights (real reason for their vendetta, was that in the past, he jokingly told one of their journalists, to not to blush in front of him). You can imagine what they published after this.
Gayle was still calm and sued all of them and won a hefty amount ($210,000). The judgement was given on the ground that newspapers failed to corroborate their articles as 'defense of truth'.
Aggrieved by the decision, all of them preferred an appeal on the ground, that his lawyer attacked a full throttled attack on 'victim's credibility' during the closing address in front of the jury.
While agreeing with this defense, court of appeals still rejected this appeal, and maintained the compensation.
Takeaways:
-
As rightly said by uncle Vasya, 'Only Chumps get taken down in courts'. (That doesn't mean, you will behave like an autist)
-
No need to cater to journalists, who are suffering from 'God complex' , and who want to destroy your life only for the sake of virtue signalling.
-
Shut the hell up, lawyer up, read that old yet relevant post.
- Women/low SMV people can literally do anything to exploit high SMV people.

Freddie Gibbs got locked up in Austria because some bitch had a DREAM that he sexually assaulted her.

Do you have a video of the teamate flipping out at him?

Good to see this appeal was rejected.
Just one thing I wanted to mention, we shouldn’t go around claiming that the media were attacking him as “revenge” for hitting on the journalist. These are big companies and they’re not going to open expensive lawsuits against people based on throwaway comments to journalists that caused a mini-firestorm about 5 years ago.
We should be more concerned that the media’s default position here was to attack Gayle with a non-credible witness and little evidence to back her claim.

Lawyer is actually best defensive option/armor you can possibly buy.
Most expensive defense option should goes to arkancide.

Exactly, getting upset by 'partial exposure' really got me baffled, but then i realized, it's a tactic of exploiting high SMV people.

The media has gone insane in the post-internet era and I have a couple guesses why:
For example, WaPo broke the pentagon papers story. Say they get something like that, on a president that is contemplating doing something that positively affects amazon's business. Will it get reported? WaPo was sold for a few hundred mil to amazon, meanwhile Amazon is worth like a trillion.
Conflicts of interest aren't new, but the more the discourse becomes dominated by a few companies, the scarier it is. This is especially true if people allow services like google/twitter/facebook/reddit to pick their news for them, instead of going to sources directly. Online seems to be a winner takes all/most environment. Google has like 70% share of search last I checked. Twitter and facebook are similar in that there's little competition. Reddit doesn't make any money so they have less power to bribe people, but they still have a decent amount of influence on public opinion.
I realize I'm not saying anything new here but it's a pretty important consideration that probably deserves more consideration and discussion.

The media didn't attacked him. The media has no emotions. They publish whatever people read, be it real or not. The thing to do now is to accuse successful men of rape, abuse or whatever. Even partial exposure.

I got accused two years ago, not rape, not abuse. Just of "pursuing" and treating bad a female coworker. Half my friends sided with her. Got banned from meetings, events, etc. you name it. Typical millennial cancellation effect.

She sued me, she lost. Turns out, she lied and I'm innocent. Still cancelled though, no amount of money can repair lost relationships and job opportunities. This lawsuit will be a black spot for all my life.
olinvomibo123 4y ago
Count your losses (past, present, future, for ex. less or no appraisal money), present yourself as victim, sue and demand monetary compensation from that woman as well as organization. But, as you mentioned that two years have passed, don't know about your country's statute of limitations.
darkzoloto 4y ago
the only thing you truly lost were people who weren't really your friends.
Don't look at it this way. It's a pimple on the ass of life.

You are right. Wise post.

Ayy man, it's no black spot coz you won after all. It was a learning experience, and you now know what to look out for and thus, proactively avoid certain people.
As men, our biggest power lies in walking away and restarting things from the ground up, which I'm sure you're already doing. New friends, social circles and women.
EdmondDaunts 4y ago
Restarting by becoming indifferent again is a hard skill to learn but essential. Women are masters at it

God dammit, my little post is filled with zen-like wisdom answers. Thats true. Women can't start over. Their biology dont let them. We can.

Its true, I'm starting over. At 40 I'm not young, but I can start over 3 more times until I feel 'old'.

Aside from the obvious RP lessons of maintaining frame. This is a great win for all in the manner in which press handle these #metoo allegations. Now that there is a risk of financial loss, I hoped for the good sense of me that they will now be more careful in the future before they publish a bullshit story.
sac666 4y ago
You forgot to include 'The Universe Boss'. On serious note, the whole incident stank and everyone just rushing to milk some attention and media clicks.
SouloftheVoid 4y ago
This is the only winning move for men in these situations. Deny, apologize for nothing, and sue them into oblivion. Another recent example of this winning strategy is Vic Mignogna, a voice actor was was viciously #MeToo'ed and is also suing not just his accusers but the employers who fired him over it.
farendsofcontrast 4y ago
Dayum.. Vic Mignogna is the voice of the original Broly from DragonBall Z back in the day. Glad to hear he came out unscathed.

That cheers me right up. White knight bosses getting sued for unfair dismissal of staff falsely accused.
