We recently had our big company conference. An opportunity to ask questions to the company president and the Vice Presidents of the company.
We hae recently had a reshuffle of the social committee, which resulted in the inclusion of a hardcore feminist employee. Imagine the stereotypes and you will be three quarters of the way there. Little Miss Feminist takes any opportunity to sprout her "equality" message.
We reached the question and answer section. Lil miss feminist pipes in with her question.
"What are we doing to reduce the gender pay gap?How much of an impact have we had already?"
My colleague and I looked at each other,trying not to cringe. We prepared for the usual HR drivel.
What ensued was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. A female Vice President gently disproving the gender pay gap in our company.
"The remaining 30% gap comes down to bonus and commission. These are things that are impacted by length of employment and performance."
Shots fired.
She went in depth to the unreliability of comparing different job roles. About the fact there were 10 women in executive positions in the company.
Little miss feminist said not a word. Her little fantasy shattered into a million pieces.

What's funny is that she could see this as 'wow, that's so cool, I work in a company where equality and equity exists, feminism won'. Instead, she will boil inside and not know how to handle it. They ran hard numbers and they said men were out of balance. So they try to put women out of balance again with this example. The problem is that "years of experience" is a shitty metric for the value of an employee. Women love it, because time does all the work for them and requires no competency, ambition or even intellect.

Except she has no idea what I get paid. But somehow she "knows" I get paid more, and that we should be "equal"....
Never mind that I have more experience, more seniority, and am consistently rated the top performing person in my dept. But she should get paid the same as me, just because.

Sounds like an ideal person to minimise all contact with. If I knew someone like this IRL, I would assume that my chances of being wrongly accused of something are roughly proportional to how many words I utter to her. There's loads of them about. It's always someone else's fault and no-one values them or knows how unique and better and special they are.

When a company reaches a certain size, it becomes less about efficiency and market forces and more about politics and lobbying. If you've ever worked at a large company, you will wonder how something so inefficient can stay in business. Large inefficient companies make their money by controlling a large market share (allowing them to partially control price) and lobbying Congress for favors, so it is more important for them to be in line with political orthodoxy than efficient.

Here in my country there is a tv ad about "gender pay gap", they have been airing it for months... what's even worse it's that it's a public service announcement so they are probably paying less money than real corporations (if any). Many people will believe that shit because they don't have any other sources disproving it.

It's everywhere in corporate culture. My office has an actual Women's Committee, that "fight for equality for all women" and we now have an LGBT group "that fight for equality for all LGBT employees".
They organised a "Women & LGBT Fair" where they talked about how women and LGBT employees are disadvantaged. They are banding together.
All the while, there is nothing for mens rights here. I'd be more than willing to start a committee for men but I wouldn't risk my job for it.

The feminist chip on a woman's shoulder serves them no good. Being a non-collaborative malcontent is a career torpedo for anyone male or female.
Women with real talent get fast tracked in every corporation, because every corporation wants to boast about gender equity among their executive ranks. Its not that these women can't do the job, because many of them are quite capable. When you get into this stratosphere the business acumen needs to meet the acumen of the company's core competency. That's rare. What you usually find are individuals who rose through the ranks and then got their MBA.
Required learning for VP and above would include understanding of operations management, TQM, cost/job analysis, predictive modeling, Lean, Six Sigma, business strategy, positioning, marketing ROI, etc... All the shit they teach you in business graduate studies. Without this knowledge, unless you proactively start reading Harvard Business review case studies - you're going to be lost as fuck and totally out of your depth trying to run a major company.
If one makes it into this eligible pool of applicants - work experience, track record of success and meet the education requirement - if you are woman you have 10X the shot of breaking through cold than that of your straight white male peers.
Where it gets dicey for women is when men forge mentoring relationships through business networking and gain trust with executives. They get an "in" through familiarity. If you are a straight white male - this is the ONLY way you're going to break through, otherwise when you get mixed in with applicants in a blind hiring process your profile gets shuffled to the bottom underneath all the protected classes. The idea being that all of the eligible applicants can do the job credibly on this level, there is no goodwill benefit of promoting the straight white male - only the liability of offending a special interest group keeping track of the demographics of your management team. Straight white males are actively discriminated against in just about every major corporation every day. Its beyond dispute as far as I'm concerned. This is the sad reality of the Western corporate world. They have bowed to the pressure of Marxist activists who want to label straight white males as oppressors and everyone else victims of varying degrees of intensity and effect.
The woman complaining about wage gap issues obviously isn't getting fast tracked into executive salary levels. Its because she has some sort of deficiency holding her back - not workplace discrimination. Of course the feminist will not look inward and see how she can improve her narrative in the workplace, she will blame nebulous unmeasurable outside factors like "bias". People - male or female - who refuse to look first at their own faults to improve before blaming outside influencers won't grown personally or professionally. They'll just spiral deeper into resentment and frustration.
