TLDR: Open Mics ease you into going into bars by yourself. Becoming independent.
I’ve been a follower of the sub for about five years.
The most valuable thing this sub has thought me is internalization. Which can be linked to intuition, which should have a post for itself.
I’m going to keep it short and say that the perfect but funny way to ease into confidence and frame (internalizing the red pill) is by going to open mics.
Either you’re going by yourself or you’ve made some comedian friends along the way. Either way you’re constantly being social and working on your charm.
Open mics ease you into going to bars by yourself and nobody will test your frame better than an audience expecting something from you. To be funny.
Reasons why:
•You’re out in the open with complete strangers just as nervous as you are.
•Your frame is constantly being tested. Yes, your balls can and will shrivel up at first but the more your frame is tested the more your leather toughens up
•You will understand why you don’t need to talk that much or when you should talk that much.
•If you’ve read enough on this sub, it will become evident the difference of a female and a man.
•If you learn to be funny, you will understand what goes into any art.
•The obvious, public speaking will open you up to whatever opportunity you’re looking for.
•Also, the comedy scene is the best way to combact against any agenda you dislike (i.e. Feminism, Weak man, more feminism) disguised as a joke.
Comedy is in need of good comedians. A person who has internalized the red pill can put it into practice and start a journey where 98% of comedians don’t make it. There’s a challenge for ya.
I will add more to the list later on.
The benefits are overlooked and the pay you receive in experience outweighs just standing holding your dick “watching soceity decline.”
Comedy Gold Editing and rearangements of the words in a joke, not the message, is key. Yes, there’s a line in everything so I advice censorship in certain topics until you have mastered the art. You have to earn your respect towards being the only person in the world saying the most fucked up things in public.
Just like this post, sub, mentality, a joke is always evolving. The moment that stops, remember, you gave it up because you’re evolving and the joke is already a classic or you gave up on innovation/yourself.
On that note, have you ever seen a fat woman with small titties ?

from an interview w/ anthony jeselnik. sure as shit sounds like he's talking about frame.
You once said that the most important thing for new comedians is to continue with your act even when no one is laughing so they can practice being heckled. What are some of the most memorable hecklers you’ve had to deal with?
That quote is wrong, actually. What I said was that comedians should continue with their act even when no one is laughing because you never know who is watching or who is going to walk in the room. Rodney Dangerfield called it “Being a tank.”

Slightly off topic but I recently discovered a new red pill comedian. Owen Benjamin. And if you don't already know, Bill Burr, Patrice O Niel, most black comedians.

Patrice is the goat. Listen to his talks on the radio.
Thanks for the Owen. I’ma look into him. Holy shit, comedy is time consuming.

What's your opinion on Ricky Gervais?
redpill77 5y ago
I think I remember him having some good material, but can't really say. His atheist know-it-all arrogance prevented me from ever watching very much. But I should give him another shot. I mean, Jim Jefferies can get annoying about religion, but is otherwise good.

Come on man, they’re all at the top.
I hate Jerry Seinfeild because he’s a brilliant scam artist.
Ricky Gervais truely enjoys having a laugh. Look at “talking funny” on Youtube.
I feel as he’s a cool comic and the most depressed of all. I want to meet him.

Owen Benjamin is a rambling nut job. Definitely not red pill at all and quite honestly he’s a loser

I'm just starting to watch his stuff really, but he's the only comedian I've seen talk about the bullshit of trans children and dig so unapologetically at feminism.

I didn't do comedy but I'm the lead singer of a band and now in front of any audience (public speaking, teaching, coaching) my confidence is completely unwavering. If you play an instrument open mic nights in that scene are also golden.

I really want to do stand up. I think this is my mission. I really want it with all my heart and I sometime feel I'm designed for that shit.
I know I'll be probably bad at first and I know It'll be a long road and hard work. I don't want to start right now cause I'm afraid it's a too big of step forward, and it will wreck my self image and motivation. I was thinking of going in a impro class before. I'm also thinking of working on my writings, analyzing famous standupers and their way and finally repeating at home alone. But I didn't already started because I'm a pussy.
I'm already doing some theater.
Can someone kick me in the nuts ?

Sure, you’ll suck for all the right reasons like not getting the right timing and Writing too much but if you sit down, study and internalize the rules, you’ll be digging in a good mine.
Internalizing the rules is key to breaking the rules.
If you’re aware enough you’ll be a great comedian.

Do you have a joke book? More material will make open mics more of a manageable step forward, imo. It’ll all be raw material until you test it out on stage but more material will give you more confidence going up there.

Improv is a good starting point, you won't feel lack of approval from the audience so personally.
There are positive and negative aspects to waiting to start stand up. The only reason you shouldn't start right away is if you think that when you fail, it will prevent you from coming again. If you take your time to learn the rules watching the pros, there is a very real danger that you will become in intellectual about it. You can always work on technical skills, but it is a common trap for artists that if they start off too intellectual about their art, they never learn how to enjoy it. They will remain approval-seeking and never start trail-blazing. If you're not enjoying it you're giving up half of your ability to engage an audience.
I suggest you take in a lot of live shows (seeing people fail is actually even more educational than seeing success, so watch both) and start practicing alone, with a focus on actually making yourself laugh. If you're smart, getting technically good at comedy is easy, but really good comics can make you laugh with a fart joke. Command the whole spectrum.
And set yourself a time-based deadline to start performing. Like 3 months. Do not make it skill-level based, or you will keep postponing.

What have you picked up along the way?
I’m not sure if you qualify but what do you think seperates a great comedian from the rest?
redpill77 5y ago
For me, self-enjoyment. Not sufficient in itself to be great, but a prerequisite to being engaging enough to really laugh hard. I saw elsewhere you don't like Seinfeld. I like him, but I don't consider him great because he has contempt in his demeanor (at least modern Jerry, in t he era of his tv show he may have been less bitter or better at hiding it.
