Girl's are always willing to follow those who "seem" to know what they're doing. Being cocky shows that you're very confident and don't care what others think about you. But cocky personalities will piss off other men who know you're full of bullshit and women with bad experiences with cocky men.

Humble confidence takes time to show, cocky confidence is apparent almost immediately. The later has a big advantage in situations where your being introduced to people on a rapid fire basis, like on a night out.

So subconsciously, people see is great potential in the arrogant confident. While seeing actualized greatness in humble confidence.

Women, especially young, attractive, middle class women LOVE to chase potential. So they date the med student. He’s deep in debt and makes nothing while working his ass off, but he has serious potential in the next decade. They want to have picked the rising star and ride the wave of hard times to get big rewards in the future. (Especially since they can’t attract the already established masters and their value will decrease quickly with time.)

While the attractive girl that comes from a wealthy, established upper class family will often chase the already established man 10, even 20 years her senior.

Arrogant confident will often get the panties wet(short term gain). But humble confident attracts the high SMV LTR(long term gain).

I always found it hilarious how women always say that they hate cocky and arrogant guys haha.

It all comes back to biology. A woman is basically a baby making machine and men can impregnate many women at the same time. When he looks at a woman, a man can very easily see most of the things that matter from an evolutionary perspective within a few seconds. Basically - is she hot? Does she have a symmetrical face? Is she physically fit? Does she have the right curves which indicate that she will be more likely to have a successful pregnancy.

When a woman looks at a man, however, she does not necessarily know everything that she needs to know for sexual attraction. Yes looks matter. But men are the "doers" of the tribe. They hunt, they fight, they get shit done. The more skilled they are, the higher their status among other men is. Status among other men indicates high reproductive fitness for men. So a woman needs to tease this information out. In a big impersonal city, she does not know his status. If he comes off as cocky/arrogant though, this is a major clue for her that he is a high status male and thus has good genes.

I think it is because not giving a fuck about things that don't matter is probably closely linked to 1) over all life happiness and 2) mental fortitude. Both qualities that are preferential in offspring and attractive to women.

The reason I say not giving a fuck about things that don't matter is because a person that is confident as hell or is overly cocky, is either unaware of all that they don't know or they have assessed the information and determined that it is not within their control so it doesn't matter. Both situations are sexually appealing to women as both have leader/in charge type qualities.
