There's a new post on the GBG site that focuses on advice. The topics covered are as followes (this is a very brief outline):
I. Asking for advice, and things to keep in mind
- Be precise, accurate, and include only vital information
- Be willing to listen to what people say
- Be willing to make actual changes
II. How to identify whether or not the advice you receive is good or bad
- Is the person giving advice only trying to justify bad behaviors?
- Good advice never goes out of fashion.
- Ask yourself if the advice improves your life, or makes it worse.
- Honesty is paramount.
III. An exercise in editing: I took an article that was hit-and-miss, then transformed it into a home run.
- Don’t jump into a relationship just because you can. Date good men, be a good woman, and avoid casual hook-ups.
- You do NOT have to like (or drink) beer, ever. I promise.
- If you want another cupcake, have another cupcake. No one has to know about it. Moderation is important, indulge sometimes – not every day.
- You can’t trust everyone. That’s not a reason to be jaded.
- And many, many, many more.

Just substitute wheat flour with almond flour, rice flour, coconut or a mixture of all three. Adding an extra egg or two to your recipe when using the almond and rice flour helps because they are quite dry. Experimenting with these substitutes is well worth the effort if you like having a dessert or treat once in awhile.

Phantom, I'll be conducting an audit of your cupcake habit. I'll be on the lookout for red velvet crumbs.

HAHA! Yes sir.

This is really good :) I think the hardest thing to do nowadays in trying to look up if the advice you receive is any good is sifting through all the misinformation on the internet, it's everywhere!

I agree, it's not always easy, and it does take time. That said, it's worthwhile all the same.
Thank you for the kind words.

I may steal that at some point in the future.

Great article; your outline is also very nice as a TL;DR.
Also, the cupcakes... so inviting but so not good for me! C and I often police each other if one of us gets sugary cravings (I have a bad habit of indulging more often than he does) or we make sure we by a small amount.

Thank you!
Hahah, yeah, I didn't realize I had gone on for so long until the very end when I was trying to edit. That list was a pain though in terms of formatting - clearly I need to play around with the tools on Wordpress a bit more.

Formatting can be difficult. Even with my extensive knowledge of Word, I still lose my sanity sometimes trying to get things to format (or not auto-format)!

Word drives me insane. I love InDesign, everything is subject to my will there.

I haven't used InDesign since I had my Mac in early high school! I'm fairly certain I've forgotten how to use it. :lol
