Self improvement can be simple!
Step 1: Make new self-improvement goals for this month.
Step 2: Do your best to achieve your goals.
Step 3: Next month report back on your progress as well as make new goals for the proceeding month.
Step 4: Become a more awesome person!
Factors for success for creating good goals:
Quantify your goals ("I want to lose 5lbs or 2% body fat" is a better goal than "I want to lose weight".)
Make goals that are realistic. Don't try to lose 50lbs in one month.
Make goals that are sufficiently challenging, push yourself.
Create a specific plan for reaching your goals.
Your goals can have to do with anything that you want to work on.
Good luck!

Last month: Lose 2 lbs per week: Hah, that's a good one. Completely failed, gained two lbs back. My goal this month is to gain LESS than five lbs.
Rekindle 2 friendships this month with friends I haven't seen in a while: partial success. It turns out my friend and I work in the same area on Monday nights, so Monday evenings are now our coffee date time.
No more anxiety attacks in front of my boyfriend: so far so good this month.

OK, these are mine

Married & Obese.
In the past, I would lose weight by also controlling his diet as well as mine to make it easy for me (selfish on my part). Being a RP couple, (me being more recent), I now want to try another approach. He works extremely hard to ensure that I am well taken care of... so this time I want to cook the meals he enjoys first and foremost while showing him that I can be feminine and control my portions without adding stress onto his life. I want to feel healthier, and look better for him.
My goal is to lose 4lbs this month - Will keep you all posted :)

My first goal is to eat more protein by adding amaranth or TVP to my oatmeal and/or making sure that I cook a real dinner with seitan or tofu every day.
I'd also like to keep my legs smooth. I've had hairy legs for years because I hate shaving and you have to grow too much stubble before rewaxing. So I've just purchased an epilator, which I'll be able to use the week after next.
I'm also exploring my gym in preparation for starting Strong Curves in January, so I want to do some strength training once a week.

So, I really liked participating last month and loved seeing everyone elses goals so Iwant to keep setting monthly goals to keep myself accountable.
My goals for November are:
Reading: For the last couple of months I just keep on starting books but not getting around to finishing them, so my goal is to finish some, if not all of them.
Setting a routine: I feel a little out of balance and I know I would benefit from a better morning and night routine.
Cooking: lately i just haven´t been making an effort to cook, I just grab whatever there is at hand wich is usually a sandwich, so I want to make healthier meals and actually cook.
Bonus goal: this past month I have felt like I have a cold I just can´t shake, so I really want to get over it. If anyone knows of a remedy, I would really appreciate it.

Have you tried using emeals for your foodie husband? They have a bunch of different menus and their recipes are easy to follow and come together pretty quickly.

Great suggestion! I'll be signing up for that free trial tonight.
Edit: moved update to OC.

I am sucking so much right now. My husband and I moved across country in August for his job. I thought finding an awesome new job for myself would be a breeze but it has been anything but. Job hunting and interviewing is so demoralizing and I am questioning my value in the workforce and as a woman. I feel like an absolute failure.
The worst part is I am taking out my insecurity and depression on my amazing husband. He tries to say positive things and help but all I can do is shit all over myself and make sarcastic replies when he tries to compliment me. I can tell he's stressed at the situation and pissed at me.
So my monthly goals are:
I'd love to get back on the diet train and meal plan too, but let's be real - those are not going to happen until I handle this other stuff.

I think these are great goals. When I'm feeling down I try to refocus on my energy.
What I like to do is to reorganize something in the home. It's productive, allows you to focus on something other than overwhelming emotions, and will overall make your home less stressful for everyone.
You can get through this rough patch with hard work and dedication!

I think its great that you are looking at it realisticly. Trying to tackle too much at once is just demoralizing and overwhelming. I wish you luck in your job search! It's tough as nails out there.

I want to challenge myself to read at least two more books this month. I think it is an achievable goal, especially since I've been on a real reading kick recently. Yesterday I started 'do androids dream of electric sheep?' And a couple days ago I finished 'animal farm'.
ETA: I completed my goal! I finished Do Androids Dream soon after writing this, as well as A Scanner Darkly, Editorial Wild Oats by Mark Twain and a couple Batman graphic novels. That also means I accomplished my Goodreads goal of 20 books this year.

I want to challenge myself to do intermediate fasting. My eating windows would be 5-7pm dinner on weekdays and 12-7pm on weekends.
I also want to finish selling/giving away obvious things in my room to reach my minimalism goal.
I want to get back to doing skin care every morning and evening.
I want to wake up every day at 6 and sleep at 10 (messed that up just now.. woops!)

Been loving TEDx talks about minimalism. I'll put some on while I'm cleaning or folding laundry and it puts me in the mood to minimize.

I just started getting rid of useless things around my house and it has been really liberating.

My intentions for November are as follows....
Move my body in a positive, creative way every day.
Drink 2L of water every day.
Get 8 hours of sleep every night.
Like the precious poster said - get back to a good morning/nighttime skincare routine!
Practise gratitude every morning.

I tend to fall off the homemaker wagon Nov-Dec so making goals to stay on track. -Complete my morning and evening chore routines daily. -Have fun on our couples vacation!
