Hi all,
I made a quick video today using WW1 propaganda, and it occurred to me that it could be relevant for men's issues and men's rights. It was striking how many propaganda posters were asking men to risk or sacrifice their lives to save women. First with rape of Belgium stuff, then with constant appeals to be a man, enlist, and go save the women and children... the women and children... the women and children. Would you have a similar or different take on this?
It's just pretty sad that most soldiers died randomly in the trenches in a vast machine of industrial warfare, when the war was sold as stopping the Hun from raping and killing.
I also wonder if this stuff helps to refute the concept of "rape culture." Whether stopping the raping of lady liberty or the women of Belgium by the evil "Huns,"the big message seems to be: "Hey men, they are raping women (and killing babies)! What are you going to do about it?"
How on earth could we go from that in 1917 to somehow living in a culture that ignores or encourages rape? Anyway, thank you for reading. Video link:
