The fact that any of that, at all, appeals to anyone living in the US as entertainment - this is a sign of how far we've fallen.
It's also confirmation of my choice to get rid of all TVs in the house like 20 years ago. Haven't missed it one day.

There were a lot of differences all along the way, AFAIK. They reflect the change from the original design/intent to what we have today, which is something I'd never let my kid anywhere near.
Would be very interesting to compare the first edition to the latest.
