I fucking hate Twitter
AlbusSeverus14 3y ago
Twitter is cancer. An echo chamber of the worst minds humanity has to offer
wayfarrer 3y ago
Reddit kinda comes close once you get out of this sub
PhantomGhost7 3y ago
Even in this sub sometimes.
carnsolus 3y ago
i'm not from here so yeah this sub is definitely an echochamber and... so is every sub
doesn't mean the people in them are bad or anything; just that they're not great places for discussion on certain topics
SnooCheesecakes4786 3y ago
I hear you, but whereas other "manosphere" subs like Mgtow, TRP, or WAATGM often have subtle racism and overt misogyny, this sub keeps itself relatively clean from that stuff. It's not perfect, but typically pretty good.
Loxreaten 3y ago
We should still try to keep an open mind to all views to avoid becoming an echo chamber. Just not the racist or misogynist views of those subs.
LokisDawn 3y ago
I recently found r/leftwingmaleadvocates, and I quite like it.
It's like MensLib, if r/MensLib was any good.
Empress_Rach 3y ago
I mean you have r/conservative and they have liberals there so it isn't an echo chamber.
Add on: idky I'm getting downvotes for an opinion. Most conservatives agree with men's rights and tbh all I said was there wasn't an echo chamber there. Not that I've experienced.
SelfishGene15 3y ago
Reddit as a company makes, manipulates, inflates, and suppresses posts based on a political agenda derived from monetary contributions and the owners views. This is verifiable and has been proven to be true. To be fair users can still engage in good discourse, or have posts reach the top, particularly in smaller subs, or ones that aren't default. Its basically impossible to identify whether a post or comment is popular because people actually like it, or reddit is manipulating it. Honestly in my opinion, it's got real bad in the past year or so, and the quality of the most popular post has gone down dramatically. Maybe its because of the upcoming election. You can still find great, creative, thoughtful, insightful posts/comments that create a balanced political discussion. But now you have to actively search for them as opposed to being exposed to them right off the bat based off their merit.
wayfarrer 3y ago
I totally agree with you. You getting downvoted is a perfect example of just having an opinion. it's not good to be in an echo chamber
Empress_Rach 3y ago
Exactly. "Oh men's right s doesn't have an echo chamber." Me: "conservative doesn't as much either." (Which in my opinion it doesn't.) Some People in this sub. :let's press that little button that means nothing to show her she's wrong but prove us wrong too.
Add on: tbh idc about the votes. I also realize I only have a few downvotes lol. Meaning it isn't everyone here. I'm just making light of it all. Love you guys anyways:)
wayfarrer 3y ago
It's healthy to have opposing opinions on subs, I wish people understood that more
carnsolus 3y ago
for how long? i was banned for 'leftist talking points'
Empress_Rach 3y ago
They ban trolls. We even have a few commies in the discord, run by the same owner of the sub. And he's pretty active.
carnsolus 3y ago
when i hear 'commies' i think of old timey americans who haven't realized the world's changed since 1953
and no, they ban anyone who disagrees with them
Empress_Rach 3y ago
I disagree with them a bit. I'm sorry you had an issue but I have only personally seen a few people banned.
And btw the commie thing made me laugh. I would've said communist but I like short hand.
carnsolus 3y ago
why ya gotta be all understanding? :P
Empress_Rach 3y ago
Because I'm me and different from everyone else :) plus...I think you need to be at.least understanding of others to learn. I don't like to be close minded.
dejushin 3y ago
I think it also depends on who you follow? I only follow some mangakas and it's pretty good.

Okay so

Men hating on women - Mysogyny

rabel111 3y ago
The core meme of feminism is that all men are rapists. This is the logical extrapolation of feminist theory, a theoretical construct based on the assumption that men form a singularity identified as patriarchy, the belief that all evil or bad outcomes are the result of patriarchy, and the association of guilt to all men as individuals based on their male privilege derived from patriarchy. Thus even new born males are rapists, and very likely dead males too.
The absurdity of the feminist construct is obvlious, but it's academic validity is protected from criticism by an army of anger and hatred. When girls are taught from childhood that they are victims who could achieve anything they desire if it were not for men, their sense of entitlement, certainty of moral superiority and right, is as entrenched as their misandry.
memesplaining 3y ago
wow lol great summary
mhandanna 3y ago
This is imporant, so Kate Millet basically made up patriarchy conspiracy theory (complete bullshit retelling of history: https://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/edyrf5/a\_compilation\_of\_evidence\_debunking\_feminist/) in modern feminism (stole concepts from marxism), she is absolutely vital for modern feminism due to this as patriarchy is the whole feminist lens, and in setting up feminism throughout the world. She is seen as the pope of feminism by many, time magazine cover, very important feminist pioneer
guess what, her sister is a massive anti feminist MRA, check video below she reveals how bat shit crazy Kate Millet was, ie. man hating, her dad left her gave her severe men issues, she had psychosis, and how fucked up and made up patriarchy theory was.
https://youtu.be/Bm5ZAQ9EREM
All the key authors of 2nd wave e.g. Dwrokin, Mackinon, Solanas, who completely shaped modern feminism now had combinations PTSD, schizophrenia, psychosis, substance misuse, gender identity issues, sexuality identity issues, severe esteem issues (many were really obese, ugly etc), this all affected their work, their work shaped feminism & collective feminism inherited their disorder... feminsim is literally one big mental illness
Hannubal 3y ago
Don't forget that Radical Feminist Simone de Beauvoir signed a petition to decriminalize sexual relations between adults and children below the age of 15. Supposedly she also helped groom a girl who was a minor, since her partner Sartre had a predilection for children.
mgtowolf 3y ago
Feminists want women infantilized on one hand, as children can never be held responsible. While on the other side of their forked tongue they want all the privileges and rights of an adult.
Lendari 3y ago
Privilege of a woman. Power of a man. Responsibility of a child. That is the picture of a modern feminist.
dtyler86 3y ago
Wow, that’s really well stated, not sarcastic either
mgtowolf 3y ago
Damn, you totally one-upped me with that one. Well said

iloomynazi 3y ago
Neither patriarchy nor toxic masculinity mean "mens fault". This seems a common misconception with a lot of people on this sub.
Women can be just as guilty as men at perpetuating these constructs and men suffer as well as women from their prevalency.
The reason men have to be the head of the household, for example, or that they shouldn't show emotion or cry or seek help for mental health problems... women perpetuate those ideas as much as men do.
blamethemeta 3y ago
Feminism is all about how words matter. For instance, pronouns.
So why do they suddenly not matter the moment when it's against men?
iloomynazi 3y ago
This is a take that needs waaaay more explanation my friend
blamethemeta 3y ago
I thought that it self explanatory.
A large part of feminism is about and how things are phrased. For example, pronouns for transpeople. Another one is microaggressions, just in general.
Yet when it comes to certain terms, feminism encourages it. Prime example being the term "Patriarchy"
It seems intentional, like feminists want to spread hate.
iloomynazi 3y ago
I don't think this is a large part of feminism at all, but language is certainly a way through which we can study the effects of patriarchal structures (and others). The words "mothering" and "fathering" having very different connotations for example.
I agree the term "toxic masculinity" is poorly named and leads many people to (wrongly) see it as an attack on men, when men suffer the most from it. And many of these feminist concepts have the potential to help men dramatically.
There's a sweet spot between describing things with useful language and using language to put a certain demographic down. And feminists were certainly the ones to name all of these terms because they created the academic field of gender studies.
If MRAs want things to be named differently they have to contribute to the discussion and the academia, which sadly many MRAs don't - they just want to bash women and nebulous "feminists".
For the record I consider myself both a feminist and an MRA.
againstthe 3y ago
Women being shitty human beings literally has nothing to do with the “patriarchy”
iloomynazi 3y ago
It does if their behaviour enforces the social construct that is the patriarchy.
For example, when a woman dumps a man for not making enough money, nor being able to buy her things etc. That's a woman being shitty, but it perpetuates the patriarchal idea that men have to be providers, and good men can provide more for their wives.
As MRAs, the patriarchy should bother you as much as it does feminists.
Mode1961 3y ago
Here are the two definitions of patriarchy.
a system of society or government in which the father or eldest male is head of the family and descent is traced through the male line.
No western society is like that , no one.
a system of society or government in which men hold the power and women are largely excluded from it.
None of west is like that one either.
Mode1961 3y ago
There is no patriarchy, our system is not nor has it ever been designed to be for the benefit of MEN AS A GROUP
PacoBedejo 3y ago
That's from the chemtrails, right?
Cookiedoughjunkie 3y ago
lol, and right there you just walked back over any credibility you could have had.
againstthe 3y ago
This is not an example of enforcing any “patriarchal norms” though. They’re bullying her and telling her to “kill herself” - jumping to the assumption that it has anything to do with misogyny or patriarchy (and subliminally putting the blame on men) is stupid and sexist. You’re doing a bunch of mental gymnastics here.
iloomynazi 3y ago
I could definitely make the case for their fat comments being reflections of beauty standards dictated by what these women *think* men want. But you're right in that it would be a bit derivative.
My comment was more general, about how many in this sub seem to see patriarchy, misogyny and toxic masculinity as "blaming men", when in fact it's nothing of the sort.
againstthe 3y ago
You’re sounding a bit too much like the girl in the tweet lol. Being a healthy weight is pretty much a beauty standard for both men and women. However, societally speaking female beauty standards aren’t as strict as male beauty standards, especially with the “fat acceptance movement”.
I think you misunderstand the use of the terms misogyny and patriarchy. And toxic masculinity is as real as toxic femininity (if you even choose to acknowledge that lol)
_TheDarkArtist_ 3y ago
Thanks for having the bravery to express your point of view here, that takes courage. This was rather informative.
However, I wanted to point out that while feminism in its truest form may not be singularly about blaming men, it has become quite diluted by becoming an umbrella or safe haven for women with entrenched bigotry against men. Yet, no prominent feminists have seriously denounced women’s bad behavior which, as you put it, contributes to the perpetuation of “the patriarchy”. How do you suppose feminism should deal with this?
Also, feminists tend to sympathize with men who claimed to have been victims of the issues modern feminism champions as the fronts for our current “gender warfare” (if I may), such as sexual assault and domestic violence. However, I have yet to see the institutions and support programs created by feminists for women include these male victims. (I’ve seen it happen at my college.) Meanwhile, feminism has the gall to say that they are also helping men on these fronts. How do you reconcile these truths?
(I’m a dude if that wasn’t clear. Hope my message reaches you in good health.)
Broadside_Beers 3y ago
https://youtu.be/L_qp1VFHnzQ
Your understanding of patriarchy theory doesn’t align with feminist ideology. Pushing the validity of the patriarchy theory is pernicious in ways I’m not sure you grasp.
iainmf 3y ago
> Neither patriarchy nor toxic masculinity mean "mens fault". This seems a common misconception with a lot of people on this sub.
It comes down to the idea that because men have more power and agency in society, ultimately men have more moral responsibility.
Of course, it depends on exactly which strain of feminism we are talking about.
GavishX 3y ago
Looks and sounds like toxic femininity. I can’t say I’m surprised.
Marcobroa 3y ago
How? Women hating on women is also a mans fault? Can someone please explain the thought process
againstthe 3y ago
They’re saying all women have internalised misogyny (they hate women themselves) because the patriarchy has taught them that women are beneath men. Therefore any hatred towards women by a woman is the fault of men and misogyny.
I know. It’s stupid as fuck
Marcobroa 3y ago

RingosTurdFace 3y ago
There was a study on the cause of sexist abuse women receive online and it discovered that a lot of the gendered insults and threats women receive came from other women.
As always though, it’s the fault of men.

feminism's first and foremost lesson to women is "nothing is ever your fault."
they have a learned, pathological aversion to accountability. it's key in spreading feminism because they feel justified in doing literally anything for the cause.

Hannubal 3y ago
Patriarchy is the source of all evil. If it can be destroyed, everything will be perfect.
Be very careful with Utopic ideologies - they all end with mass murder.
HaveAGr8D4y 3y ago
I mean... this just goes to the root of most problems feminist bring up in 2020. The biggest obstacle women face in 2020 is other women.
Wage gap = some women still chose to leach off men so numbers are skewed
Unrealistic beauty standard = women competing against other women to attract a man
Body shaming = women shaming other women
Most men just shut up and work sometimes in there mid 20s.
RingosTurdFace 3y ago
I think it’s just that life can be hard for anyone.
Unless you’re born rich, you’re going to have to put effort in and will face adversity from others having to do the same.
Modern feminism seems to preach to women that any difficulty/lack of success they face is because of men and not because life is just hard or they’re not trying hard enough/good enough.

I'm tired of imaginary reasons for real problems. Women being bitchy to eachother: is something everyone knows about, because we've all gone to school and there is no school(apart from schools without girls) where some girls are not bitchy toward each other.
If the 'patriarchy' actually had the power attributed to it by people like her, essentially, nobody would ever complain, at all, ever, no woman would disagree because they could basically just mind control the world.
Sometimes women are shit, thats the reality, because sometimes humanity is shit and they're a part of it.

NottNickk 3y ago
If they put the same amount of energy they do doing mental gymnastics to evade responsibility and you know... take some responsibility, they’d have less problems to deal with by now
daddymooch 3y ago
Your title is kind of garbage. Misogyny by definition is the hatred of women. It’s not a gendered term that means men hating women. Women can be misogynistic too. By definition what she said is right before she brought in the patriarchy. By definition your title is right women hating women is misogyny but your air quotes suggest sarcasm and that is retarded because it’s the actual definition.
5th_Law_of_Robotics 3y ago
Then why is it when men bully other men it's never called internalized misandry? Instead it's toxic masculinity.
againstthe 3y ago
They’re grasping at straws tbh, they know exactly what she meant

Just because they’re bullying this one girl does not mean they’re misogynists. When a man bully’s another man he’s not automatically a misandrist is he?
daddymooch 3y ago
I wouldn’t label it personally. You would have to have some discussions with them to know their beliefs enough to have that judgement. I think it’s just an easy assumption for most people because it’s quite common for women to hate women.

Seems to be a lot of misconceptions in this sub. Patriarchy and toxic masculinity don't mean "men's fault".
Women can be just as guilty of perpetuating these constructs and men also suffer at the pervasiveness of them.
For example, male disposability, one of the founding ideas of the MRA movement, is a symptom of our societies patriarchal structure and toxic masulinity.
