Different country = different culture. In general, every country has a very small group of people who are interested in interracial and/or international relationships. These people tend to be concentrated in certain places where those foreigners go. So, for example, if you're a gay Indonesian guy into white guys you'd go work at a hotel in Bali. If you're a Thai chick you'd go into an English program and then work for the airlines/cruises/hotels/etc.

So it could be that you went to the wrong/right places. When I'm out teaching in a Thai village I usually have to go to a very specific bar, possibly in another town, to find chicks. But when I'm in class I'm surrounded by chicks that want a foreign guy(but they're too young).

Brazilian here. I don't even know where to begin, but I'll give it a shot. Also, I've never been to Colombia, so I can't comment on that. And usually I try to spellcheck what I write, but this is getting long and I'm feeling lazy; do feel free to point any mistakes, however - it's always good to learn.

1. Yes, there are quite a bit of german descent here - especially at the southern part of the country. There are, however, also dutch, french, italian, japanese and who knows how many others. So, don't think the germans were that big of a influence. Just one more out of many.

2. Brazil is a big country. As in 5th largest (and bigger than the US if it wasn't for Alaska), if I'm not mistaken. So your experience in a small part of the country is hardly enough to constitute something of a rule. Also, for clarification, here's a map. Green is north, orange is northeast, yellow is midwest, pink is southeast, and purple is south.

3. Going by what you said, your experience in Brazil was mainly in the south; had you come to the northeast, you'd probably find many more women acting interested. Before coming to live where I live now I asked an an acquaintance of mine of german descent (tall, blond, I think light colored eyes - we've met briefly around 15 years ago, and he was moving somewhere else) about the girls here. He said they were quite flirty and direct in showing interest. I got my hopes up, but nothing big ever happened. I eventually met a guy who had been his friend, and he explained to me that it was only around him that girls acted like that - because he was their type.

4. I've never lived there, but from what I've heard, women in the north of the country are even more direct if they like you. As in hitting on a married man in front of his wife direct.

5. Conversely, I'm guessing that women in the south are more "cool". I'll come back to that later.

6. Different regions (even within the same state) can differ quite a bit about the ethnic composition. In the north, you'll find a lot more influence of the natives. In Bahia, you'll find a lot of dark skinned people (I have no idea about this forum's rules for politically correct speech) - I believe that in the state capital, it's over 90% of the dominant ethnicity. In São Paulo and Ribeirão Preto (both cities of the state of São Paulo), you can find a lot of japanese descendants. I lived in Cuiabá (a city right in the middle of South America; you can find it in the largest yellow state in the map I linked) for a few years back while I was still in school, and I had friends of italian, polish, lebanese and other Middle Easten descent. The girls were something else - the ugly ones were ugly, but the pretty ones... Maybe I should consider going back there.

7. The southeast of Brazil is the richest part of the country. Most industries are there, and whenever you read anything about oil extration in Brazil, it's probably happening in Rio de Janeiro's coast. The midwest's money comes from plantations and cattle - and though it's not a poor region, it's also not as rich - and back when I lived there, not as developed. Northeast and north are the poor and poorer regions (and consistently voting for the left parties, go figure) - and the further away from the coast, the more evident it gets. I don't know much about the south, but they do have quite a bit of tourism.

8. A lot of people with money in Brazil go to the same southern cities on vacation, to the point where there are businesses catered to them - exclusive nightclubs and whatnot. So, depending on the city, being handsome or rich is no big deal. Not-so-funny story: a few years ago there was a false report of rape in the south that went somewhat big in the media, involving a club hoe nightclub ambassador and a guy with money. The thing is: she thought the guy was a bigger fish - an inheritor from the Globo media group (quite a big deal here - the biggest national TV channel among other things), but said inheritor was the other guy in the group. Nevertheless, she came up with an unbeliavable story, went to trial, and got nowhere (but the local feminists latched onto something taken out of context and blew up the whole ordeal). But I digress. The point I was trying to make was that these women are not easily impressed.

9. As you mentioned, just being white is no big deal in Brazil. There are poor people that are white (although nobody in any minorities movement will agree to this), there are absurdly rich people that are black. There is some overlap in some places, but you cannot really make a general rule. Not only that, but Brazil is (once again, if I'm not mistaken) one of the most mixed countries in the world. So, the colour of your skin doesn't mean that much.

10. Again, I can't speak for other countries, but I'd say your average brazilian woman is your average western woman - most are not particularly bright or dumb, just going through life trying to fit in a group (and being subjected to it's pressures - so, whenever something stupid is en vogue, know that the women around will abide by it at least in some level). Same goes for the average man: just trying to eke out a living and maybe get married and have kids. Socializing is done mostly in bars, nightclubs, and the like - and while you can find a gem or two there, most are just average. Girls like to dance, guys learn enough dancing to try their luck, paying for the girl is common (although some will actually pay for the share, especially in the first dates), and so on.

11. By my own experience, you don't really have to be the chaddest alpha out there to find a girlfriend or have more than one plate spinning - they just have to perceive some value in you. Yes, the value could be money or looks, but it's not so absolute; you don't have to be cream of the crop, just good enough for her. Tinder is a thing here (though I never used it, so I can't offer any insights), but I feel like it hasn't devastated the dating world as much as in other countries (or maybe it's just a matter of time).

These are just my own observations, obviously, but I hope I painted a more comprehensive picture of things here. While there is quite a lot of truth in your account, I felt like it didn't take into consideration several regional differences. Hell, I myself haven't known most of my country, so I probably have several blind spots. But still, if you're going for a quick lay, there is a reason why the northeast is somewhat known for sex tourism.

You look more like a white guy in Colombia than in Brazil. Brazilians as a race have a lot of whites in them, pun intended. This means that you stand out more.

This is additionally enhanced by the fact that a "white" or a "foreign" guy in a 3rd world country is usually assumed to be wealthy simply b/c he comes from a wealthy country.

This effect can be seen in every part of the world.

Visceral attraction is sometimes due to having different but complementary genetics. A good genetic fit.

There is also the "exotic" factor.

In your case, I believe it is due to socio economic status.

More money in Brazil, lots of foreigners = you are not that rare.

Colombia on the other hand might be different.
