The day before yesterday I had convo with a chick and she told me out of the blue that her ex abandoned her due to her dog. She isn't the first incident, I have many similar incidents as well.

A branch of virtue signaling. To make you feel as if she's just been living the ultimate shitty life with her ex, in a psychological attempt to get you to feel piety for her as if she's some fragile noble creature that deserves the entire world from you since she has "had it bad ".
Not saying they think about intently doing this, but its kind of like how we avoid telling our friends about every embarrassing situation we have been in. For us it makes us look weak or less. For her, it makes her look "innocent"

I always thought it was a shit test. Like they have a list of things they test. Jealousy - let's see if he is beta by talking about my ex and see how he reacts. Frame - let's see if he is beta by calling him a bitch and see how he reacts. Preselection - let's see if he is beta by accusing him of being with lots of women and see how he reacts. Social proof - let's see if he is beta by checking his social media/friends circle/career.
I'm pretty sure the ex didn't abandon her because of her dog. It sounds like a shit test to see if you are beta and will let her use her dog to control your frame.
