I agree with @fawk_face. In-person social proof is the way to go. My first 9 was picked up when I was out for drinks with a co-worker who was an 8. Waiting on line to use the bathroom we started talking and she was convinced that my co-worker was my date and that I was being a jerk. I asked for her number and she was hesitant, so I offered her a bet. I told her that she could come and sit with us while she waited for her friends to arrive, and I would buy her a drink - if she still believed it was a date I'd buy her friends a round too. If I was telling the truth she had to give me her number and pay for my drink. She thought it was win-win for her, but it was win-win for me. Closed on the first date, about a week or so later. At the time (pre-RP discovery) I thought I was just suave but it set me on a path to closing the co-worker 2 months later.

had an obvious opportunity with a tall blond woman who had an ass that would make black women jealous... it was at work, a few years ago. unfortunately I was taken, so I couldn't take up on her obvious signals to ask her out
oddly enough she showed her interest after I did the exact opposite of what TRP tells you to do, when I met her during duties I got super nervous and it showed, and she reacted by giving off those signals.
so yeah, being in the same social circle or workplace helps your chances immeasurably
