It's a strange time we live in when you see coordinated efforts like /r/all today. Post after post about net neutrality and politics. All left-leaning of course.
Undoubtedly these are not organic posts. Reddit is entirely compromised.
Sexual assault is the buzzword of 2017. Everything TRP predicts is on full display. Will post on this later next week.
Just wanted a quick vent. Also, reminder that reddit is not your friend. I saw they recently added a "chat" feature on here. (Or maybe that RES?). Do NOT trust that your conversations are safe there. Assume admin can (and do) read them. Don't message me, I won't reply.
If you need a chat, head on over to trp.red and join the chat beta (which we will launch as soon as all the kinks are out). To join beta, just post a status with hashtag: #beta

Assuming others are programmed to think a certain way is a ad hominem attack, state what you disagree with and why, your just insulting others, and appealing to authority., Google isn't a source, link your source.
Capitalism is freedom, you can buy and sale as you please, and resources you aquire are yours.
Socialism is government control, which was tried and always end up with Stalin like people
If you want an example of capitalism see Computers, they use to cost 1 billion dollars now we can get them for 10$, that is capitalism, it creates wealth.
Socialism is the medical industry, it keeps raising,
Imagine if we had a capitalistic medical industry, instead of $600 pills we would have $1 for 600 pills.
But computers and IT markets are stable and growing, I think you want stability for the %1, they like socialism
lennoxonnell 6y ago
Like I said. You are either being lied to, you are GREATLY misinformed, or both. Or you are purposefully trying to manipulate people by spreading this blatant misinformation. For what purpose? I have no fucking clue. If you aren't a bot or a paid troll, you are going to come out a loser just like the rest of us if the bill goes through.
iwasbornred 6y ago
I barely even pay attention to this shit. I don't have time for it. Why should the red pill have just as much internet speed as sites that are generating economic value?
I'm honestly getting so sick of victim mentality. The internet can be thought of as land. Right now the land is being shared just like your assets are after your wife dumps you for "chad".
Men are not victims. Women are not evil. You are livestock being farmed by the government just like women. Wake up and be the farmer.
Don't wanna get divorce raped? Don't get married. Don't wanna have slow internet on your website? Pay for it. It really is that fucking simple.
lennoxonnell 6y ago
What economic value? It's not helping the economy at all by removing the Net Neutrality regulations, it's just giving the Telecom companies and ISPs freedom to charge people extra for access to specific sites and throttling people who don't pay a shit load extra for their internet. They are just pocketing the cash and laughing all the way to the bank and you're basically allowing them to. There isn't a victim mentality, but you can be damn sure that if the bill passes there will be a lot of victims.
iwasbornred 6y ago
lol had to reply to this too... I am not allowing anything. I don't run the government. Go run for congress and save the common man if it's so damn important to you.
FirstNamesMusic 6y ago
Your first sentence discredits the rest of your comment. Why are you even commenting if you barely pay attention to this?
lennoxonnell 6y ago
Exactly. He barely pays attention to it, which means he clearly knows next to nothing about it and yet he thinks he's qualified to discuss it.
That statement alone is chilling to me. It's such a dumb thing to say. We DO pay for our internet, people pay A LOT for their internet. But if they removed Net Neutrality, now those companies are going to be given all the freedom to charge EVEN more! They could add fees for visiting sites, they will throttle your internet so people who pay more can get more bandwidth, they will literally screw you out of every penny they can. But who cares, right? You don't want to have slow internet, just pay for it! Soooo simple
iwasbornred 6y ago
if you don't want them to "screw you" the answer is simple. Don't buy it. waaaah waaaah waaaah im a victim mommy help me
Jesus Christ I'm starting to feel like the feminists are right(joking)
lennoxonnell 6y ago
So your solution to the whole issue is to "not buy it?" So you're saying, the simple answer is to just stop using the internet completely? Do you understand of just how important the internet is in the modern world? Obviously yes, that is a solution. That's exactly what I did with cable. They were screwing me, so i stopped paying for it. I got a pure internet package. But now, the same cable companies that have been screwing everyone for decades are about to be given the power to start screwing people with the internet. You are going to be effected by this. I don't know why you are on your high horse acting like it's not a big deal, but it's a huge deal. No one is "playing" victim. We are ALL about to become victims.
iwasbornred 6y ago
My advice is to buy stock in these big bad companies. Seriously dude, the world does not revolve around the consumer. It never has. You're emotionally invested because you spend too much time on the internet and not enough time becoming stronger.
iwasbornred 6y ago
I honestly am trying to help by the way. I've come back to red pill recently because I'm really disgusted by the world in general and I feel like this place has an inkling of the truth, but... The victim mentality is what kills me. Sure, the blue pill narrative is shoved down your throat. But you bought it. Crying about net neutrality to me is just as blue pill as offering to buy things for women in order for them to keep spending time with you. The only way to become the man you want to be is to control what you can and accept what you cannot. You can go look up those companies and buy that stock. You can't control Congress.
-ATLAS-_ 6y ago
I don't understand why people dislike net neutrality? The guy who invented Reddit literally was one of the biggest proponents of it. Reddit was a tool to help discussion and keep the Internet free. That guy is dead now, but he impacted the Internet in the last ten years more than most everyone including standards like markdown. Why the hate against Net Neutrality?

Why the fuck a mod's opinion (whatever dude, that's just like your opinion) is fixed as an announcement?
CuckedByTRUMP 6y ago
Because it's their fucking sub. They are standing up to censorship. REAL CENSORSHIP. Not your pathetic NN fake ass censorship so George Soros can get more money out of his netflix stock censorship. Right now bots control the front page. Right now they are censoring T_D from being on the front page. Right now social media censors conservative sites. Right now twitter is banning conservatives. Right now the media lies to push agendas. The left doesn't give a shit about censorship. What they care about is the ability to censor people on the right with no consequences and keeping NN because their masters on the left want it.
There is not a single good intentioned person who supports NN that is informed. NOT ONE.

No. I have had this discussion a dozen times. Dig through my comments. I'm tired of making it for you. If you are not smart enough to understand companies like netflix want NN to pass costs along to customers and crush competition then you are smart enough to understand the even wider implications.

Govt. creates a problem in the form of handing monopolies in certain areas to companies.
Govt. then uses the potential negative outfall from that to campaign for net neutrality instead of doing what should be done which is to lift the monopolies granted.
Beyond the monopolies there is the issue that getting licenses is very expensive and time consuming thereby further limiting an avenue for competition.
Net neutrality is a way for the internet giants to pass their own cost of operation (in the form of being data hogs e.g.: Netflix consuming nearly 40% of US internet traffic) on to the unwitting consumer. It's sold as 'freedom' and in reality it is special treatment for the monoliths and giants.
If it weren't for net neutrality you'd likely find people begin to adopt multiple ISPs. While this technology and bonding of interfaces was up until recently only possible at the ISP level these days you can get US$ 100 routers that can do this. As soon as demand arose it would likely be included in your common home routers at little increased cost. You would then likely have different internet providers/packages such as:
High priority low bandwidth: think gaming, banking etc. They'd likely have a fairly low bandwidth and low data cap but you do not need much data for such things.
Medium priority: likely for browsing etc. where ping does matter but 200-300 ms isn't likely to make a huge difference.
Beyond that what you might end up seeing is ISPs simply looking around and noticing that 90% of their data flows through Netflix, YouTube, FaceBook, P2P, Steam, Battle.net, the top 5 news sites and maybe 15 other sites. They would then do what anyone in the market might which is say: all the internet will actually cost you 45 bucks, if you want everything but those 30 data hogs you can get it at 5 bucks. Of course millennials are outraged because they don't want to pay their fair share for siphoning off the vast majority of internet bandwidth and want the grandma who reads 3 emails to subsidize their Netflix addiction. Finally what might happen in such a scenario is people quickly realize how expensive running those main sites is and then would either pay for that themselves or they would choose to forgo those services since Netflix just changed from costing US$ 15 a month to US$ 15+US$15 for the ISP. If they choose to forgo those services then those services would either need to drop their price or provide the bandwidth to reach them for free/subsidized etc. This is what the online giants are trying to avoid. They know that a lot of people would abandon them and they would either end up uncompetitive or need to offer the entire internet infrastructure to their customers for free which would really dig into their liquidity. Since many of the online giants tend to run several billions in losses over many years before they make money this would close this anti-competitive market practice they engage in and require companies to be profitable from much earlier and they do not want this.
duffbeeeer 6y ago
God, you guys clearly have no clue how the the internet works. Do you really believe some teen streaming youtube makes your internet costs go up? thats fucking ridicoulus. TRP could be such a nice place without such bullshit statements.
[deleted] 6y ago
[deleted]
duffbeeeer 6y ago
Yeah, exactly how your so called free market fixed your ISPs? Let me give you a hint: You have no free markets with 3 major players on your ISP level. You have all been fed bullshit by your corporate big players. And yet you let yourself get manipulated that geting rid of net neutrality will help against censorship. Man this level of mental gymnastics involved makes me question your level of education. Only dumb sheep not able to understand basic logic will follow this agenda.
[deleted] 6y ago
If we assume that bandwidth is a limited resource, and that the bandwidth follows the supply/demand rule, then logically that makes sense. Said netflix teenagers would consume very large amounts of bandwidth, thus increasing demand. Which in turn would cause prices to go up. The situation is quite similar to cryptocurrency miners buying up hundreds of graphics cards, causing price inflation that affects people buying merely 1 or 2 cards for personal use.
Whether this is actually the case in the real world is another story.
duffbeeeer 6y ago
Brandwidth is not a finite ressource. Thats the point. You cant steal anyones bits. Ofcourse comcast, AT&T want to make you believe that. Its like trying to sell premium air because breathing too much will cost my neighbour his air.
[deleted] 6y ago
If bandwidth isn't a finite resource, then why do all of my cables have a maximum throughput?

"Net Neutrality" has nothing to do with internet censorship. Christ, the amount of bullshit you retards believe is shocking.
whenfoom 6y ago
Yeah, just look at how reddit doesn't censor anything! Thanks net neutrality!
phoenixtoast 6y ago
NN is just corporate welfare disguised as an anti-censorship. NN allows the big streaming companies, Google, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc. to essentially be subsidized by the companies responsible for transmitting their massive data. It really has nothing to do with censorship. As we've already seen, the left has no problem with censorship as they will disrupt rallies, destroy free speech, and shut down websites, as long as they're not "their" websites.
[deleted] 6y ago
You are confusing NN with UBB: Usage-based billing. UBB would still be legal with NN; you just wouldn't be able to discriminate on the content. Telephones were always regulated as common carrier, and UBB always worked just fine to ensure that everyone pays in proportion to what they use (e.g., a 120 min long distance call cost ~10x as much as a 12 min long distance call when long-distance charges were common). There's no reason, with or without NN, that the ISPs couldn't charge Netflix or anyone else based on the amount of traffic they use. They just can't discriminate based on the content itself (content-class discrimination for the purpose of QoS would still be OK, but not discrimination based on the actual content) to decide what is allowed to flow and how fast. I think your post highlights the difficulty people have understanding NN.
blackedoutfast 6y ago
bits are bits. if a customer is paying their ISP to dowload 100 GB of data a month, who cares if 9.9 GB are coming from Netflix. and the same goes for Netflix paying for their upstream connection.
reydemierde 6y ago
You mean those same companies that received huge subsidies and government sanctioned monopolies to develop the internet pipes? Comcast didn't go out and there and put up all of those lines on it's own dime, so it doesn't get to treat public infrastructure like a private highway.
TriggeringEveryone 6y ago
Oh, so would Net Neutrality get the Stormer its domains and hosting back?
I'm not worried about the US government censoring the internet, I'm worried about censorship from the handful of private companies that control most of the internet.
[deleted] 6y ago
I said NN makes censorship harder, not impossible.
CuckedByTRUMP 6y ago
Well you are wrong and he just showed you how wrong you are. They have censorship for when they want to silence and then these laws to protect their own services. They will selectively enforce. That's the point of overregulation.

-ATLAS-_ 6y ago
Thing is though, go read about cable in its infant stages. Even Walt Disney himself thought it was the greatest thing that could happen to people because every home could have access to learning Spanish or to the best works of art and education that mankind has come up with...and yet it became the monster we see today where watching commercials is a normal experience. More people probably said they would never watch it if commercials and selective programming that's essentially gossip or garbage were a part of the experience, but yet here we are. If you want a commercial free experience, you have to pay extra for HBO or a movie channel. So it really isn't crazy to believe that the same people that pulled that off are interested in doing the same thing. I mean, they're the best experts at it based on experience tbh.
Thotwrecker 6y ago
Yeah, they won't stop until we are fully optimized as consumers. Stuck into various mediums where every second we are force fed targetted ads. It's not crazy to believe; cable was the single biggest thing in consumerism for it's time, a vehicle that oriented and shaped people's habits and behaviors around consumerism, particularly women's. And everyone knows that the internet + always online + interconnected age means a nearly infinite potential to condition people towards buying shit. Everyone is fighting at a high level over control of the internet, because cable no longer gives them access to the masses' behavior like it used to. The internet does.
vengefully_yours 6y ago
I've had cable tv twice in my life. The first time was mid 90s, had it for five months. Nothing on after watching the shit I wanted to see, all reruns and drivel. Comcast harassed me until I showed then to give me free cable for 6 months, all I had was internet access through them. I never watched it, but my friends came over and watched it. They tried to make me pay for those 6 months when I shut it off and left the state. Had to invoke the soldiers and sailors act to get them off my ass. I moved to an area where they had no services for me, which meant I didn't have to give them a damn thing. More to it, but for brevity, that's the basics.
If I want to watch something, I do so online. Mostly though, I don't watch tv. Barely seen any movies in the last 15 years as well.
Fuck Hollywood and the media, I can live easily without their propaganda.
-ATLAS-_ 6y ago
Fuck yeah. I always tell people I've never seen so many movies, and the absolute worst thing that happens is I don't understand a single joke or reference and they tell me I should watch a movie. If enough people tell me, then I end up watching a movie that's already highly recommended and I usually enjoy it and don't feel like I wasted my time. Honestly it started because I saw some James Bond movie that was supposed to be good and was all hyped up, and it was terrible and the whole time I just thought how unrealistic and over the top it was (that sounds obvious, but as an armed forces member you probably understand what I mean when it's obvious certain tactics in the movies would never happen (or the classic example of Rambo guys shooting guns from the hip or hackers just having a nice clickable system to break passwords). Essentially I don't want to introduce anything that isn't based on the truth into my reality so that I can make good decisions and it's worked out well for me so far. Not watching movies or TV is extremely high on the "avoid list" in order to achieve that.
[deleted] 6y ago
Oh, that would be the destruction of the internet as we know it. We would need a new telecommunications revolution to get back to where we are today (for example, mesh communications without centralized infrastructure).
[deleted] 6y ago
Something new and neutral would eventually emerge.
lennoxonnell 6y ago
Eventually. But no one wants to have to wait for "eventually." We just want to keep the internet the way it is. It's not perfect, but at least I don't have to calculate what websites i use into my monthly budget.
lennoxonnell 6y ago
I hope it never comes to that. But I imagine if the bill passes then a lot of people will do the same. Me included.
Hugh_Munghous 6y ago
Pretty much. I mean Facebook and Reddit are nice I guess, but I view them sort of like the free "newspapers" you pick up on the street; I'd never actually pay for them. A lot of people are probably similar, that might be why a lot of these tech companies are freaking out about net neutrality.
Troll_Name 6y ago
Obama's rule is not "neutrality." Neutrality is a bullshit mask they hide behind, just like the "patriot" act.
The rule means nobody is allowed to discriminate against Facebook Youtube and Twitter. But yet, Facebook Youtube and Twitter are allowed to discriminate whenever wherever however they please.
This is a monumental taxpayer gift to cronyist propaganda blasters. Just like all the other buddy networking, the government disguises it as something the rest of the world can't possibly live with out.
[deleted]
[deleted] 6y ago
NN is about ISPs. Facebook, YT and Twitter are not ISPs, so NN has no effect on their practices (Google is an ISP in some limited markets, so in that capacity, it does effect their practices).
Soarinc 6y ago
NN will make ISPs become the tech giants' collective bitch.
Basically this will let Facebook, YT, and Twitter become the only censor of the internet. Look how they banned Milo, Bearing, Sargon, and more.
Tech giants want to be the sole gatekeepers of the internet.
THEnimble_mongoose 6y ago
And the government wants to use tech giants to censor information and monitor dissidents.
It saddens me to see everyone blindly swallowing up this Net "Neutrality" propaganda they same way they swallowed the "Patriot" Act.
There are a lot of useful idiots unknowingly shilling for the social media giants in here.

This is not what virtue signaling is. You said you were from mgtow and it shows. You don't even understand the meanings of the words you use.

2014 was the year of "don't trust these hoes" in music at least
2015 was pretty chill
2016 was the year all the celebrities died
2017 is the year of sexual assault

2016 was the year of the outrage... felt like everyone was outraged about something

What are you talking about? Reddit nearly melted down in 2015. The SJW princess Ellen Pao was this close to shutting down subs like TRP. She abused her power and pretty much the whole site was in open revolution until she stepped down.

2017 is also the year of playing the race card for anything conceivable.

I'm in favor of net neutrality. I am also in favor of nationalized medicine and a minimum income.
I am also in favor of realizing (in the sense of making real; actualizing) my masculinity. I treat this subreddit like every other source of information and opinion: I get the info, consider the opinions, and then make up my own mind.
And I don't need anyone's approval beyond that of an employer and a landlord (or bank manager).

Hey just so you all know... Really watch what you say online now.
Everyones post history is already fucked. AI supposedly hit singularity this last week. Not to be all tin foil hat, but all this "data collection" is for something much darker than just manipulating your buying habits through advertisement...
Picture a total recall-esque future where you all are hunted down for your patriarchal views. Yes I will be lynched.
