The Pareto Principle

Anyone who has read the sidebar, or has been around here long enough, knows what the Pareto Principle (PP) is. But for those of you that don't, it's the idea that 20% of X nets 80% of Y. It exists in quite a few places, and the ratio may not be exact in every circumstance, but the reality is that most of your effort should be spent performing productive, useful activities that net you the most of your results. This can be qualitatively measured by Activity times Effectiveness equals Results (A*E=R).

It is also used to describe the male-female ratio of reproductive activity, where 20% of men father 80% of the next generation. That leaves 80% of men vying for the remaining 20%, and even there PP probably also applies, with % of men (overall) fathering another 16% of the population; with a third deviation suggesting that 20% of those men (12.8%) father 3.2%, which is 99.6% of all children, leaving basically no reproductive chance for the bottom 51.2% of men.

Some other anthropological data basically confirms the PP for the majority of our species, except during a brutal period that had massive selective pressure on men where (my estimate) only the top 4% fathered 80% of the children.

Where Does This Leave You

To have any halfway-decent chance of getting your dick wet somewhat consistently, you need to be a Top-36 male. That's you being just a little better than 2 others randomly selected most of the time. When one of those two other guys probably has a genetic deformity, a crippling disorder, or is a social pariaha, or is simply a dunce, your odds of success aren't that fucking bad.

That's right.

You just need to truly be better than 1 extra person on average. One. One to get laid just a little more often. Keep in mind that the Top-50 is filled with average joes, the majority of which are basic and living a life of drudgery, video games and pornography. To be in the Top-20, well, that requires. . . Not that much more.

Top-20 In Print

With intelligence, a whopping IQ of 113+ (SD15) puts you in the Top-20. That's not even a full standard deviation from average. People like to bitch about IQ and say it's not a great measure of intellect, and on some levels they are right, but in raw horsepower, a little bit goes a a very, very long way.

In reading, 1 in 4 American adults didn't read a single book within the last year. 1 in 4. And they aren't even all vegetables with dyslexia. Ever listen to an average adult read aloud? They sound like they have a fucking learning disability. Read one book a quarter (that's the "average" according to some estimates) and you're already ahead of 50% of the population. Cause the next 25%? Probably reads 1 or 2. Tops. Don't sound like you are intellectually challenged.

Financially, you need to make $85,000 a year, on average, in order to qualify. Depending on where you live, that might put you even higher. Think you can't make more money? Good thing you don't have to make more. But if you want to grease the skids of those gold-diggers and leave them behind, it always helps. Work, get promoted, start a business.

Physically, just being able to run without getting winded is a good bet. With a major amout of the population being overweight or obese, just not being fat is a huge factor. In strength, just lift for 1-year and you'll be out-performing most if not all of your friends. Height-wise, 6'0" is the cutoff, but if you out perform in other areas, what's a few inches?

Basically, the Top-20 are nothing special.

What To Do Instead of Fucking Around

Work.

Work some more.

Think about how you spend your time. Don't waste it with bullshit and substitutes for the real deal. Ultimately, people suck because they don't want to put in just the little amount of effort it takes to improve. What's one book take? 12 hours? One hour a day and you read nearly 3 books a month. You only need 4!!!! Exercise? Pfft lift and watch yourself change. Every amount of growth experienced is directly proportional to the effort invested. A*E=R. Read thought-provoking material, find a personal trainer if you are new to lifting, eat better food, buy better clothing that fits, don't make excuses for your lack of performance.

Make at least 2 hours of your day devoted to your self and your personal growth, and you too can reach the coveted Top-20. Easy. Nothing holds you back except for yourself and your avoidance of the choice to succeed. What the fuck are you afraid of? Go do it.
