The funny thing is a dude I know mentioned that there is a wage gap between Male and Female models. We all obviously know who makes more. I wonder why this was never discussed and perhaps either he or his rep can bring this convenient fact up. After all - We are all EQUAL, right?

Stopped reading it some time ago, when for years it was my standard paper. Far too left-wing, PC, feminist-loving now to be worth reading. The online comment site Comment is Free is nicknamed 'Komment Macht Frei', for the heavy-handed mods removing and banning anyone who disagrees with their left-wing feminist policies. They did break Snowden, but then that was an anti-government thing (in particular an anti US government story), so they were fine with that. When the whistle-blower for the MP expenses scandal was trying to get it published, the Daily Telegraph was the only one that agreed with his terms to publish for all parties equally. The rest wanted to only publish expense scandals for parties they didn't like (for the Guardian, that would be the Conservatives).

Thanks for the link, I'll read further. Yes, DT has definitely gone downhill since the Conrad Black days, and the men's and women's sections (actually, both effectively women's sections) have been plagued by feminists writers. But the commenters are having none of it, and call bullshit after every such article. I think the editors are finally beginning to take notice, because they now have 2 or 3 journalists that openly depart from the feminist line. The only reason I go there is that the comments are very lightly moderated, so you get people's actual responses, rather than the highly filtered responses you see on the Grauniad or Independent sites. I agree about the Times, though.

The thing is that on the one hand, offering to pay is still somewhat expected by not too few women (and if you don't, you risk being perceived as stingy). On the other, most women readily accept if you offer to pay - in fact, I can count the number of women who refused an offer to pay her bill (or accepted but insisted on paying the next round) on the fingers of one hand, and that's generous.
This doesn't necessarily mean that all of them are freeloaders (for example I had a FWB once who accepted me paying for her on the first date, yet she always insisted on paying for her train rides to me - we generally hang out at my place because it was more comfy - and also paid for herself during our outings) just that it is some "dating code" that's still rather prevalent.
(that's also the reason why I prefer to go out for drinks only on the first date; and should we go out to eat something, I don't offer to pay. Sorry, I am not in the mood to pay 50 bucks for an evening with a woman who I don't know for sure is into me)

I've also had girls pay and lay. It's rare, but it does happen. The more noise the feminazis make, the more desperate some girls are to make it clear they aren't like them. I usually offer to cook. It mitigates the whole issue, gets her up to my place so the hard part is already done, showcases a skill, I can throw on a movie and we can have drinks without worrying about driving, and she's away from the prying eyes of the world so ASD are down a bit. You can also have them help prep the meal if they seem receptive as a bonding activity. Either way, you can cook a good meal for $15-$25 and work some real magic or pay $85 to look like every other try-hard while she plays with her phone all night. Tough choice.

Well, the nice thing about these new wave chicks is none of them can cook for shit. As long as it's not burnt or undercooked and you use a good seasoning, they'll eat that shit up. Lemon pepper grilled chicken, pre-mixed kale salad with some nuts and a fruity dressing and some broccoli/corn/squash/carrots/rice and beans etc. 25-30 minutes prep time tops. A trained monkey could make it and its hard to fuck up and never ceases to impress. If she's doesn't eat meat I eat her fucking chicken. I only know how to make 5 or 6 meals, but she's not getting this treatment on the regular, most cases one time only.

You mentioned lemon pepper grilled chicken. Not sure how you bought it, but pre-marinated chickens and meats are fucking delicious. I can't oversell their value: easy to cook (hard to burn or dry up), juicy, tasty, and usually only a bit more expensive than regular meat or chicken.
There's a Ready To Cook brand which I highly recommend and though I couldn't find a picture of the ones I get, they're more or less like the chicken on the left.

I buy Kirkland frozen in bulk. I soak them in a bowl of room temperature water with some salt and lemon juice for a few hours to thaw. I pound em flat, rub some lemon pepper seasoning on em and throw em on the grill between 350-375 for 5 minutes a side (no thermometer, but no salmonella yet) then another minute per side before taking em off. Perfect every time. Plenty juice, little smoky, lotta lemon peppery, all flavor. Took me about six weeks of eating burnt rubber or dissecting partially uncooked meat for the good parts to get it right. Half the magic is the girl watching you cook. It really can't be understated.

I've always paid for 100% of the bill on every date I've been on. Not for retarded chauvinistic reasons though, I pay for pragmatic reasons. Girls spend more on pre-date expenditures, haircuts, hair products, makeup, clothing, time getting ready etc. If we were to split the bill it wouldn't be financially fair. So for the sake of equity I will continue to pay the whole bill on the first few dates. I know this is not going to be a popular viewpoint here, so flame away.

Well, yeah. I've done this before and it's worked pretty well for me. I went to McDonalds with one of my plates when we first started going out (read: sleeping together) and had her cover the bill, no problem. Much later, that same plate asked me out to a local Thai Restaurant, knowing that she would be footing the bill.

I don't see nothing wrong with splitting the bill on a date, especially if you get the feeling you won't see the girl again, or that it's just not going further than that. I would have done the same.
But somehow it seems that just because they have a vagina, girls feel entitled not to pay for their meals, ESPECIALLY on a first date. This is wrong. I would value 10x more a women who would feel comfortable paying for her part instead of this "the man SHOULD pay for me" attitude.
And what about the cost? If the girl cannot potentially afford to pay for her half, she should've never stepped inside the restaurant in the first place. Interesting topic. I'm American so please excuse my ignorance. When I was in Turkey serving with the Army, I met some Aussie girls. We travelled around Istanbul and I showed them some of the more popular tourist sites that I was familiar with. I bought them dinner, and they were really concerned when I paid the bill. From what they told me, in Australia, when a guy buys dinner, there's an expectation of sexual reciprocity. Is that true? This was in 1988 so times have probably changed significantly...

Canada here: in 1988 it was expected here too. Women have become much more predatory since then.
Now women feel privileged to hint at sex, even promise it to get what they want, everything they want, then give no sex.

I was in Australia about the same time. Never had that discussion. Every Aussie bloke I have talked to recently has said the country has gone to hell as far as the women are concerned.

Only if you're not clear about what you want. She can always walk away if she's not down with it. That said, if you've gotten to the point of taking her to dinner the expectations should be clear anyway.

I don't understand, I think you have it backward. If it's an LTR, then each is responsible for the other's choices to some extent; they are a unit. For a first date, they are not.

Meh. It depends how you're invited. If the guy says "I'd like to take you out Friday"... I'd day that is claiming financial responsibility. But "we should go to dinner Friday night" is him inviting her to go, but not offering to pay.
Thinking any invite is an offering to pay is entitled as shit.

It may very well be cultural. I've paid for plenty of first dates because I was the one doing the asking. And I would be really really hesitant about such a ridiculously expensive first date anyway. I could definitely see that as a sign that we are really uncompatible and decline the date completely.

Imagine you asked a mate to check out x restaurant, would it then be expected that you as the asker and planner would foot the bill? :) First dates should be å homecooked meal anyway, easier to escalate and be intimate. You cook, she brings wine.

Yeah actually I do, and I have in the past. Squabbling over the check is a pet peeve of mine. I've paid for dinner for almost twenty people before because I can't do the squabbling over who owes what and badgering the poor waitress to split the check ten thousand ways.
Between friends it usually works out. One pays now, the other pays next time. We are adults and can discuss how much something will cost as part of the overall discussion on where to go.

Yeah so basicly cultural differences then. Here in norway, we usually pay at the cashier, hence easy to split the bill. And fair point about it working out in the end with mates.
