The value in becoming evil lies in the ability to protect yourself from it.

I learned something in corporate fraud class that can help some of you newcomers understand the value in learning to be self-serving and (for lack of a better word) evil.

Many accounting standard boards hire accountants who have committed fraud in the past to create regulations that prevent it.

Why?

They need accountants who understand fraud, and to understand fraud you need to be capable of it.

Think about this for a minute. Its hard to understand how to protect yourself from something you're not capable of conceiving of. If you're not capable of conceiving fraud. as in it doesn't even enter your mind; its very hard to protect yourself from it because you don't know how it could possibly happen.

We put ourselves in positions to be taken advantage of on a daily basis; interdependence is an important part of social interactions. However if you put yourself in a position to be taken advantage of, you will eventually be taken advantage of.

Learning how to take advantage of people helps you recognize how and when people are taking advantage of you, which then allows you to defend yourself respectively.

Most people are nice and genuine because they are incapable of being otherwise. This makes them weak and vulnerable. Conversely, those who are assertive and self-serving develop an awareness about protecting themselves from others who are likewise. This is one of the reasons they are seen as attractive.

If you're capable of killing someone, you're capable of preventing yourself from being killed by someone, and what woman wouldn't want such a quality in a man.
