Summary: Less than a year into TRP, and now I'm snipped.
I'd been thinking about doing it for a few years, but the red pill really opened up my eyes.
I'm 35, divorced (no kids), high income, and decent looks. I've also got a hot start up, which is really what accelerated the timeline. Coming from the deep blue programming, I started to feel like a walking target with my new awareness. An unexpected child is basically the only way my life could take a dramatic negative turn. At my age, my tolerance for condoms is down and my peer group of girls is really looking to lock down beta bucks.
I did two deposits which was enough at California Cryobank. In total that was 16 tries. To keep it in storage as about $3K.
The surgery was about $500. I'm a few days out, and everything is going along smoothly. I'll hook up with my primary plate over the weekend (still using condoms until I have the go ahead from the doc after 12 ejaculations).
A lot of advice here says don't tell partners about the situation. My primary plate knows, but I'll keep future plates in the dark.
If I decide to have a kid later, the cost of making a baby will be pretty small vs the cost of raising the child. It's reversable (though this is not my intention). And semen can be extracted if needed.
The downsides of vasectomies of course in very rare circumstances where something goes wrong. Thankfully I've avoided this.
Just some data for folks considering the same option. Onwards gents.

Listen to replies here. I tested first time after 20 ejacs. Literally waited two months and cleaned pipes over 40 times. Then tested gain. Make sure it worked and wait for test two after 35+ ejacs.
daily_rp 5y ago
Also a mid-30s male in Cali working in startups. I'm surprised there are some red-pill folks in the state. I haven't been snipped yet but since I don't want kids there is no reason not to.
awakenedspirit1 5y ago
Ha, I'd be the first to tell you I'm not red pill by choice. I think I might want kids, but I REALLY don't want one by accident. So far, no recovery issues.
Herdsengineers 5y ago
I had one done at age 42. Divorced, remarried, have a kid, etc. Didn't want another at this point in life. New wife is 42, she didn't want a kid either. So I got clipped. Did it many months ago (not quite a year).
It's been nice not having to worry about it all. Had a little discomfort after the procedure but handled it all with OTC advil. Nothing else. Stayed off my feet for a weekend after, then had to be a little careful moving around, going to work, etc. for about a week. Wasn't severe pain, just sore.
First ejac was about a week after the procedure. Doc said to wait that long mainly to make sure the incision (was really just a small puncture site) didn't open up on me.
These days, if wife is in kitchen doing something, and I interrupt to her bend her over the counter for a few minutes, she's only too happy to oblige me. Any time, any where. She's high drive as it is, and talks liberally with girlfriends that it's her point of view that being available for sex and meeting her man's need is an easy enough task that there's no reason not to do it, especially since she enjoys getting fucked so much anyway. She gets some weird looks from some chicks, and I just keep my mouth shut and smile at everyone around like the cat that ate the canary.
I will say that fatherhood is one of my biggest pleasures in life. I can only encourage men everywhere, be very careful who you choose to reproduce with, but once the deed is done, it's pretty amazing. Lots of hard work, but very satisfying. If you are younger and want to get a vasectomy, have some samples preserved like OP. It will be worth it.
LuckyMost 5y ago
Don't count those ejaculations OP! Wait for two weeks and get your sperm tested. That's the only way. And I know, as I had this surgery THREE times. Yes, you read correctly. So test first, cum second.

can you expand on the “semen can get extracted”?
i’ve always wondered this but have never been able to get a clear answer. i always thought that if it were possible to syringe some sperm from your balls (if you wanted kids later) that more people would do it.
[deleted]
majaka1234 5y ago
It is possible.
But you probably don't want a needle scraping the insides of your nuts.
majaka1234 5y ago
BTW it's not 12 ejaculations.
It's 90 days plus two clear semen tests.
Huge number of failures post vasectomy are due to guys nutting raw too early.
Get your test done!
Ceeda 5y ago
Be fucking careful, consider using condoms at least on ONS’s. You’ll never know when you’ll wake up with a rash, and it doesn’t matter the age group either.

GodLikeVelociraptor 5y ago
Some are consciously turned off by men who they can't trap with children, that's for sure!
RPSilverfox 5y ago
No reason to tell them unless you get serious and start talking marriage. Unless this happens you do not need to tell anyone and just keep wearing condoms like you should be anyway.
_do_not_read_this_ 5y ago
There's plenty of women who enjoy sex just for having sex, and could care less about the "risk" factor.

Damn dude, no kids at all and you decided that shit at 18? That’s crazy. I enjoy sleeping with women but in the not so distant future, I actually do want a little fucker running around

and also a bit of divorce laws and child support I bet :)
grandmasbroach 5y ago
It's not really reversable... When I was in the army, my last duty assignment was in a family med clinic in one of the biggest military hospitals around. I've probably done a couple THOUSAND vasectomy procedures.
You can reverse them, but it involves a bit of luck too. They can rejoin the vas defferins. But, that isn't a guarantee it will grow back together in a way that let's you start producing sperm again.
It's usually best to freeze sperm before you have this done just in case. I'm pretty sure the rate for reversing it successfully isn't even close to a coin toss.
GodLikeVelociraptor 5y ago
Just a few years older than you and in almost the same situation. Heck, given what you described it's possible we know each other.
Anyway, I've been snipped for about 10 years. My ex-wife was (is?) a child in an adult's body and wasn't responsible enough to even take care of a cat.
I've been single about six years now. I'm modestly irresponsible and wrap it about 30% of the time, basically with brand new people and ONS's. Women hate condoms more than we do so if they know you're snipped they almost never want to wear them. I've had women come back to me because they don't have to worry at all about birth control. It's fun, hot and so far I've been disease free.
I would recommend telling everyone you see more than a couple times. If you're being honest about your situation (wealth, good looks, etc.) it won't hurt anything. I'm in a LTR and have made no children an absolute condition of the relationship and so far she agrees and understands. I've also explained if she needs kids that I would have no hard feelings if she left. This is the responsible, adult thing to do.
mrmaldoror 5y ago
Can anyone actually have proper sex with condoms after 30?
If I wanted to do a romp session where I eat her out, fuck her some, eat her out again, move around the room, fuck her again, I wouldn't make it past step 1 with a condom on. If it ain't sliding in and out perfectly, I go soft in about 30 seconds flat.
And yeah women hate it more then men.
_do_not_read_this_ 5y ago
It's theoretically possible and probably discussed in a different forum. But of the two times I did it in the past 12 months, one I lasted about 20 minutes then went soft on a position switch; and one where I lasted almost an hour and completed the task at hand involved a bit of alcohol, probably a little more cialis than I usually take, a hot 28 year old, and a touch of phenibut (anti-anxiety also known to "enhance" the pleasure, also another forum). But yeah.
swampbastard1415 5y ago
Congratulations. As a fellow 35 yr old - Second step is abandoning your 'peer group' of girls and dating only hot younger girls in their early/mid 20's. You are in California so no excuses.
awakenedspirit1 5y ago
Excellent. Sounds like a plan to me!
BrownGummyBear 5y ago
I’m in my late 20’s and decided I’ll be doing the same from now on lol
[deleted] 5y ago
Do you feel any difference in your drive? Just curious.
Reaper1967 5y ago
No, I was worried about it beforehand also. Don’t sweat it, there’s no difference. It’s the secret weapon men have to protect themselves today.
majaka1234 5y ago
Six years in.
No downside at all.
Girls don't even know I have it unless I explicitly tell them, and then the idea of getting to nut raw (still use condoms if you aren't seeing her regularly) is a massive turn on for them.
No change to taste, texture, fluid etc.
Youre literally snipping two tubes, not switching off production of anything.
Probably biggest side effect is short term inflammation and every now and then some sensitivity after weight lifting but those are also incredibly common even pre vasectomy so it may not even be linked.
throwaway-aa2 5y ago
um... what? can you elaborate on this?

majaka1234 5y ago
When you tighten your core it usually activates the muscle group that "pulls" on your testicles.
This is the same group that pulls them in when you are cold.
As you can imagine a freshly squeeze set of testicles a week after an operation it's going to hurt.
If youve got inflammation from the surgery then that's going to possibly last a while.
In my experience it would flare up a couple of times a year in the first year. A few years on now and I've not had any issues at all.
That being said, this can happen even without a vasectomy - occasional inflammation in your man berries is quite common although long bouts could be an STI or suggest a more serious issue.

Interesting FR, I had a few questions
So do you raw dog them with them expecting to get pregnant? Still the thought about STIs or ask all plates to be tested?
As a one time fee? Does it affect sperm quality at all?
awakenedspirit1 5y ago
There are some examples of girls saying "I'm preggo and it's yours". I think there is some benefit I'm denying that.
One time fee for 10 years, you can do less of course. Yes, about half the sperm die when freezing.

_do_not_read_this_ 5y ago
Dude ... wait three months then get tested. It's not a numbers game, it takes time for the body to clear out the live sperm stored in your belly and to make sure the process took hold properly. You're getting bad advice. I just had my V. redone yesterday because the one I had last July re-attached itself. The metal clip failed, the cauterized end failed, the gap of vas they took out failed, the ends grew back together. Three failsafes failed. I blew 13million sperm in my re-test last week 6 months later.
Why?

awakenedspirit1 5y ago
Wow. Well sorry for the trouble man.
The rec from the doc was to get tested after 12-15 ejacs. And then get tested again after 3-6 months. Hopefully these guys can stay separated!
_do_not_read_this_ 5y ago
Okay, that's more clear with the 3-6 months. Yeah, it feels great to be the 1 in a million. Seriously, you could have 12 ejacs in less than a week if you were ambitious, and that's not enough time to see if the ends reattached, I would think.
I had the chief of urology from the local hospital assist my primary yesterday b/c my primary hasn't done a lot of them, and he didn't seem concerned about it re-attaching, "It happens" was all he said about it.

_do_not_read_this_ 5y ago
It depends on the type of procedure. Nowadays it's minimally invasive. I had mine redone - read my other post - yesterday, and have had zero pain. Did yoga last night, ejaculated this morning and plan on many more ejacs this weekend. Doctor said so long as I think I can do it, it's fine.
majaka1234 5y ago
I had sex literally the day of.
If it's hurting then don't do it but a good surgeon should just have it a bit inflamed for a few days and then it's almost back to normal.
Avoid heavy lifting because the trauma from that is a lot worse than shooting a load.
necessarilyredpilled 5y ago
Mine said none for a week, then clear out the pipes a number of times, and to wait 10-12 weeks before testing for sterility. No issues here as I'm confirmed to be shooting blanks.
OP either paid this totally out of pocket or has shitty insurance. My vasectomy cost me $50 and that covered the initial consult, the surgery, and the sterility test a few months later.
ScaryCan 5y ago
yeah my copay was 40 or 60 do not remember, just remember it felt like no nut november, but I did not want to take any chances! 3 months for testing and so many ejaculations, don't remember the exact #, maybe 20?
awakenedspirit1 5y ago
Could be. I don't know what insurance will cover from this. But I paid using my HSA.
Nov51605 5y ago
DO NOT TELL plates you are snipped. let them get preggo fuckin around and try to pin on you. Bring them a bouquet of flowers with the vasectomy paperwork and retest paperwork in the envelope with the card saying, "congrats, I'm not the daddy"
Tom Leykis style !
jrwilde 5y ago
Well if you think that the women you sleep with are only sleeping with you, you are wrong.
better use condom for preventing STDs.
In the long run having one committed partner is better for health.
RPSilverfox 5y ago
I did this right after my son was born and my wife asked for a divorce when he was 5 (she had 2 more kids with next husband). My son is 18 now and I’ve enjoyed the freedom to do what I want without having to worry about an unplanned pregnancy while at the same time giving my son my undivided attention and support. If you either don’t ever want kids or are done having kids I believe it is a must for all men at this point.
womans_algorithm 5y ago
Or false rape accusation. Vasectomy doesn't protect against that.
I advice you to be honest with them. If your plan is to deceive people, don't be surprised that you will only attract deceitful women.

I neither, but it's not worth it in the long run
