There is no better movie on attraction and female hamstering: Travolti da un insolito destino nell'azzurro mare d'agosto (original title). This is basically the original, italian version of Swept Away.

"What Love Is"
It's a small indie movie shot kinda weird: all on one set. Takes place on v-day when a girl leaves Cuba G. Jr. a 'Dear John' and his buddies come over to help him celebrate.
Matt Lillard took the red pill.

Weirdly, Steve Carrol’s character in the movie “Get Smart” is a great example of frame control.

"Phantom Thread" is rich with RP truths. It even nails home that Alpha comes in many shapes and sizes. Ending wasn't all that satisfying, but if you think about it as illogical hamstering ruining a good thing then I guess it does.

Just finished watching Mad Men yesterday. Highly recommend it too. I think Roger is generally a lot more of a red-pilled alpha than Don is and a lot more fun of a character, best in the show imo.

Nightcrawler was Cringy AF. Minus the manipulation and immoral stuff, yea, red pill.
kellykebab 5y ago
The repeated choice of clearly dysfunctional, neurotic scumbags as Red Pill exemplars in this thread is disturbing. Characters like Patrick Bateman, Gyllenhal's character in Nightcrawler, the Michael Douglas character in Falling Down represent virtually the opposite path that a self-aware redpilled man should take.
Being compulsively addicted to aberrant behavior is not in any way the same thing as being rationally self-interested. I don't get how guys are missing that distinction.
[deleted] 5y ago
Nightcrawler was far more machiavellian than "alpha".
kevin_le0 5y ago
Jake Glyllenhaal played a cringy character. Who talks like that? haha
But he was relentless when it came to his success and goals. Went from thieving to finding something he really like to do. Went from driving a piece of shit car to a brand spanking Camaro.
Even through he’s immoral, at least he knows what he wants and what he needs to do to get it.
That’s how I saw it.
VeniceJedi 5y ago
Agreed. It's the personal choices that didn't agree with me. The rest of it was preaty RP... he's just a slimy pos.

Anything with Lee Marvin, especially Point Blank, Prime Cut, and The Dirty Dozen
Most John Wayne movies, although sometimes he plays a more comedic role. My personal favorite, besides The Searchers (where he's more an anti-hero) is Big Jake
The Wild Bunch (another western with awesome shootouts and tough guys)
Honestly, most films since the 70s generally portray a fairly cynical view of manhood. There are still manly characters, but they are either deeply troubled and neurotic (e.g. The Dark Knight, Raging Bull) or they're unrealistic, bulletproof cartoon versions of men (e.g. Arnold Scharwzenegger).
I struggle to think of genuinely self-confident, effective, and believable male characters in movies of the last 20-30 years.
Also, I'd recommend The Andy Griffith Show for television. This might strike younger guys as a really corny choice, but Sheriff Andy Taylor in this show is the ultimate example of a benevolent alpha leader. He is brave, strong, athletic, and the number one guiding force in his community. Sometimes, TRP goes overboard in advocating blind self-interest and nihilism. Andy Taylor represents a vision of fatherhood and civic leadership that is both very alpha (Andy always gets the girl) and genuinely pro-social, in an authentic, pre-feminist mold. I highly recommend this show for those interested in more positive, community-oriented male role models.

I saw a trailer for an upcoming film called “Alpha” that seems to be about the son of a nomad chieftain trying to get back to his tribe with the help of a wolf. It’s a pre-historic film, and I have high hopes for it.

I typically gravitate towards characters that embody nobility, though of course not the nobility, or lack thereof, ostensibly inherent of aristocratic pieces of shit.
These characters are typically loners, in a sense, but who have led lives that many mainstream peoples would respect, and who have now realized (red-pilled) was an installation of a program meant to denigrate them and continue to abridge their freedom and thinking to explore existence and its applicable truths.
Though it's played by a Tom Cruise, Jack Reacher is a great example of a man who's truthful perception of the world is exemplified by his state of being within it. He doesn't interact with its systems unless absolutely necessary.
This scene should be watched in its entirety but if you don't have the time then watch from 1:05 to 1:28. This is the crux. The cross and path, to bear and walk. At least, as it concerns certain elements of redpill philosophy interacting with sexual dynamics. But essentially, the entire film is a redpill for modernity and its infectious and parasitic need to deform humanity. Funnily enough, for a couple of tries when I tried to type humanity it came out as habitual, or in other words: programmed.
Another one I like was Shooter. Mark Wahlberg is ex-military, like Cruise's character, who lives out in nature doing his thing after some shit goes down.
Mind you, these films are violent but the violence perpetrated by the protagonists is never initiated, particularly after leaving their old blue-pilled lives. They only go to war now if violence is initiated upon them. Shooter is in fact so redpilled- even if it still has a more than rosy sense of government and its ethos of force- that it kills... well, watch till the end, he said as if you'd stop just shy of the last 5 minutes. I'm a pacifist, until those dispossessed need assistance, but that ending was quite cathartic to my rage at centralized mechanisms of force and it had me cheering.
In essence, any character in a film who doesn't follow a program meant to enslave them, be it political, militaristic, financial, religious et al is one we should look to emulate, within reason. After all, they're still fictional programs from a mainstream source meant to program us further: the media. Be well my friends.

"Falling Down". A guy loses custody of his kid and stops putting up with the world's shit altogether.
party_dragon 5y ago
Law Abiding Citizen. A man's wife gets raped and killed, he revenges against those responsible (the criminals and the legal system that shields them) in the most genius brutal way.
SidSacred 5y ago
Great film , I always think of it when I’m stuck in traffic
kellykebab 5y ago
A guy loses custody and bitches about fast food breakfast. This character is a loser who goes insane in the ultimate blue pill temper tantrum. The filmmakers intended the film to critique this guy, not valorize him.
I would definitely recommend re-watching this film and comparing actual redpill ideas (and just plain common sense) to what this broken man does throughout the movie.
BenGeudens 5y ago
The perfect allegory for the red pill rage.
zielkarz 5y ago
He's just crazy.
kellykebab 5y ago
Seriously. The satire of that movie is just repeatedly lost on the immature.
In the Alpha/Beta dichotomy, the Michael Douglas character is clearly a beta having a mental breakdown, NOT an alpha in control of himself and his environment. This character is the exact opposite of what you should strive for when trying to improve yourself. I truly find it scary that people continuously look up to this clear example of an unhinged lunatic as a hero. I guess these are the same people "impressed" by Elliot Rodger.
BenGeudens 5y ago
It's an allegory for the red pill rage. The point in every man's life where he finds out the world isn't fair and doing what you've been taught to do gets you nowhere.
I don't think anyone really sees him as a hero either. It's just that most men will identify with his rage because we've felt it too. Doesn't mean we approve of how he expresses it.
The movie even serves as a warning that things will end badly if you don't find a healthy way to channel red pill rage.
kellykebab 5y ago
The most charitable reading I can extend to that character is that he's at a breaking point where he has the potential to be redpilled. However, his actual behavior in the film represents both self-destruction and a blue pilled, misdirected blame for his problems on external, social phenomena. This is the exact attitude that RP-thinking criticizes in mainstream culture and feminism.
The proper response for this character would be to look inward, reevaluate, and begin a gradual process of self-mastery. Instead, Douglas' character lashes out indiscriminately. The lesson in this film is to utterly avoid the protagonist's responses.
So sure, you might argue that the film is a Red Pill cautionary tale. But I don't believe that's how it was being defended.

A few that are on top of my head:
Blue Valentine (Ryan Gosling, Af&Bb type of movie)
American beauty (Kevin Spacey performance is 10/10, you can see his "redpill" transformation)
Crazy stupid love (Ryan Gosling helps Steve Carell get his manhood back)
American Psycho (Christian Bale (his character) really doesn't give two shits about the women in his life. He's wealthy and does whatever he wants) I RECOMMEND THIS
The Matrix
Edit: Bale doesn't have his shit together

y_nnis 5y ago
Agree. He was plain delusional.
DonaldBaelish 5y ago
Hahaha gold.
kellykebab 5y ago
I think you may have completely missed the point of this movie. I recommend reading the book to see how "alpha" and "shit-together-having" this character really is.
Edit: More than not having his shit together, Bale is a completely soulless conformist who derives his entire identity from a) the superficial signifiers of his social class, and b) compulsive sadism that doesn't even bring him pleasure or catharsis. The movie only hints at Bale's character. Read the book to realize what a pathetic, horrible drone this scumbag is. However, anyone with half a brain should realize the character in the movie is a hollow, insecure piece of shit. To take the opposite lesson from that film reveals a profound lack of understanding about people.
BenGeudens 5y ago
Kinda have to agree. Patrick Bateman isn't in control of his own life at all. The scene where he nearly gets a panic attack because the other guy has a better business card is downright pathetic.
kellykebab 5y ago
Exactly. That's practically the entire critique of the character.
RPAlternate42 5y ago
Bale is the actor, Bateman is the character.
kellykebab 5y ago
Yup
[deleted] 5y ago
Watched the first 30 minutes of this movie and thought the guy was basically a woman.
Not masculine or "alpha" in any sense.
kellykebab 5y ago
No, I disagree with that. Bateman definitely represents a very masculine character, but it's a particularly weak, shallow version of masculinity. He's essentially the worst form of dysfunctional masculinity (i.e. excessively violent, conformist to group values, poor sense of community, etc.).
Either way, a complete piece of shit, murders aside.
The book is much, much more insightful than the movie. And much funnier.
darkkramer 5y ago
Bateman is Beta
Incognito_famous 5y ago
Very constructive.
darkkramer 5y ago
Patrick Bateman has a horrible approval seeking mindset. He has a collection of CDs with music he doesn’t even like just to impress people who barely care. He’s also generally weakminded and his inner world collapses over the smallest things
kellykebab 5y ago
He's also an insane murdering psycho. I thought that kid chose that movie to be ironic at first, but apparently not. Yikes

Also a great movie to learn about some practical applications of stoicism.
My favorite quote from that movie “nothing happens to a man nature hasn’t fit him to bear” I believe is lifted from Meditations by Marcus Aurelius.

The GLADIATOR.
Russell crowe's character was the man's man.
Even at his lowest point, his leadership qualities shone through.
He was not the tallest, biggest or most handsome character but the qualities he brought to the table made him stand out.
It just shows that the value(physical, social, emotional, financial, spiritual) a man brings to the table is what determines his placement on the hierarchy.
He earned the respects of both friend and foe.
He is the man we all want to be.

Instead of Hollywood indocterination examples we should give them RP historical examples of men to read about. Homework on RP men like Julius Caesar, Alexander, Thucidydes (March of the 10 000), etc. They will learn far more by reading themselves and thinking about it.
kellykebab 5y ago
You can view films as either vicarious wish-fulfillment (blue pill) or as a dramatization of human falibility (red pill).
One can obtain wisdom and insight from any kind of media as long as one has a critical eye.
Relying on movies or popular culture for motivation is lame, but balancing out some amount of well-selected media with a vigorous engagement with real life seems perfectly healthy to me.
EvolvedA 5y ago
A 100 times this. Even though The Gladiator and American Beauty are some good examples for RP behavior, they are fictional bullshit. It is porn for the bluepilled male who can feel just like an alpha male for 90 minutes without being one, a feel-good movie if you wish. Just like spiderman is for 6 year olds. Anyone who disagrees should watch the scene in American Beauty when Kevin Spacey throws his job and watch yourself how you feel after doing so, then ask where this feeling came from. From actually achieving or doing something?

i agree that most people in here have some pretty poor selections and that they're not going into why any of the movies are 'redpill', but i wouldn't chuck an entire medium just cause its made by reptiles. if nothing else it pays to know what's popular. we're getting our asses kicked on the media front and an awareness of the form will help to be more critical.

If you want to see some movies about hypergamy and the ugly side of female nature i suggest:
frontiermarine 5y ago
hah! i watched temptation with my ex girlfriend a few years ago, (SPOILER ALERT) she cried at the end saying how horrible for the wife in the movie to cheat on her husband for the rich guy, gave me the puppy eye look and said would never do the same thing to me and kissed me on the cheek, few years later she cheated on me with her boss.
rob_holloway 5y ago
Lol. Dude that movie is brutal but so true. Of course the circumstances are exaggerated but if you want to see hypergamy in action its easy to see in that movie. Had a similar experience to you, watched it with my ex who said she would never do anything like that. Long story short she ends up leaving me for her "bestfriend" that she "reconnected" with.

Sad ending in Brave Heart somehow reminded me of bp ending in Titanic. I know I'm totally wrong there.

True its sad,but very brave (Braveheart). I dont know maybe I just really love that movie
perplexedm 5y ago
Considered it multiple times better than Titanic, even when Titanic was so much hyped up. Sadness of seeing a real hero's life getting wasted for an unmanly king still lingers in my mind. So, I want to put The Patriot above Brave Heart. As a movie, Brave Heart was tons better than many others which I remember.

Frank and Lola: a lesson in how NOT to game a girl. Perfect for a lot of you guys coming here for advice.
I just re-watched Basic Instinct from a Red Pill perspective. The Sharon Stone character is clearly a Borderline Personality Disordered woman.
The Michael Douglas character thinks he's alpha, but he's always in chase mode and she manipulates him perfectly into falling in love with her. The ambiguous ending suggests he's her next victim in more ways than one.

Troy.
Brad Pitt and Eric Bana are the alpha males on different sides of the war. Orlando Boom as the beta, alpha male wannabe.

MUD with Matthew McConaughey. A curious and underlooked movie, with an uncurrent of parallel themes about hypergamy and male disposability that show up in several character realtionships: kid vs the girl he's crushing on, kid's mother divorcing the father, McConaughey's char and his ex, one other I think.
The subtle messge is at the very end of the movie....the kid's found out the girl doesn't like him, as well as gone through some other hijinks (like McConaughey's character's issues) that showed him a bigger world. Last shot of the movie is, the kids sees that girl again in passing. Rather than moon over again, he just smirks knowingly. The kid understands female nature now. He's taken the red pill.
Movie has a few other red pill messages, like governments booting people out of their homes.

Funny. When I watched 300 with my ex, she was not impressed with any of the characters, until we meet xerxes. That's when her eyes lid up and she said how sexy he is...
flyoffthehandle 5y ago
From what I can tell that movie was almost 100% historically inaccurate. The Spartans were big into sex with boys and the Persians were actually more civilized in every way imaginable.
Just two of the many things changed or completely left out of that horrible movie.
