Can you guys suggest any Redpill / Alpha male movies?

Pretty hard to watch a movie without noticing cringey beta behavior now.

[-] omegaXXIV 63 Points 11 months ago

The Godfather

[-] UncleChido 7 Points 11 months ago

Was about to say this.

This is the most redpill movie out there. Must watch for every alpha-wannabe

The GLADIATOR.

Russell crowe's character was the man's man.

Even at his lowest point, his leadership qualities shone through.

He was not the tallest, biggest or most handsome character but the qualities he brought to the table made him stand out.

It just shows that the value(physical, social, emotional, financial, spiritual) a man brings to the table is what determines his placement on the hierarchy.

He earned the respects of both friend and foe.

He is the man we all want to be.

[-] Zahlix 23 Points 11 months ago

You could live your entire life simply asking

"what would Maximus do in this situation"

and you would have lived a life worth being proud of.

[-] Chaddeus_Rex 1 Point 10 months ago

If you remember the movie, Maximus prayed to his Ancestors. Ask, "what would my illustrious ancestors want me to do".

[-] Carbone 6 Points 11 months ago

After reading that I want to watch it again

[-] donkeykong69xxx 5 Points 11 months ago

he was pretty handsome dude

[-] y_nnis 16 Points 11 months ago

The Punisher on Netflix... I still don't know how they let that one fly. It's an amazing show with a depth that most shows lack. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Goes back into that old debate whether the ultimate alpha will (at some point) have a family or not.

[-] Choose_To_Choose 6 Points 11 months ago

Or has disdain for women

[-] Chaddeus_Rex 1 Point 10 months ago

How so? He didnt care for the emperors sister and was pissed his family was killed. Doesnt sound like oneitis to me.

[-] Misplacedstock 7 Points 10 months ago

Power, the one where he lets his wife kick him out of his own home? Or the one where he has oneitis so hard he risks his fucking career and life over it?

[-] Shieldless_One 5 Points 10 months ago

Also a great movie to learn about some practical applications of stoicism.

My favorite quote from that movie “nothing happens to a man nature hasn’t fit him to bear” I believe is lifted from Meditations by Marcus Aurelius.

[-] [deleted] 4 Points 11 months ago

I watched it on this recommendation. It brought me to tears. It's just perfect.

[-] Buchloe 8 Points 11 months ago

[-] VeniceJedi 5 Points 11 months ago

You guys keep talking about Fight Club..

[-] Buchloe 3 Points 10 months ago

Dude. You DON'T TALK about FIGHT CLUB. Period. Fight Club. No.

[-] VeniceJedi 1 Point 10 months ago

Fight Club keeps getting talked about, we should stop talking about Fight Club.

[-] Buchloe 1 Point 10 months ago

... I'm not sure I'm actually clear on what fight club even is. I'd love to know. Can I join? What are the rules?

[-] cyanidez 7 Points 11 months ago

On Netflix "Peaky Blinders" is pretty RP

[-] Bigspartandaddy 21 Points 11 months ago

It was pretty RP in the first seasons but then they make stupid shit like women running stuff and shit like that.

[-] saywhatagain 6 Points 10 months ago

I'm surprised to see someone saying this. My LTR and I stopped watching after the beginning of Season 2 because Tommy develops serious oneitis for Grace, risking the safety and security of his family and business. Not RP at all, as far as I could see.

[-] disgruntledearthling 3 Points 10 months ago

Yeah I know. I forgave him for that mistake.

[-] zielkarz 1 Point 11 months ago

Well, I stopped watching it because main character was cringy as fuck m

[-] Incognito_famous 29 Points 11 months ago

A few that are on top of my head:

Blue Valentine (Ryan Gosling, Af&Bb type of movie)

American beauty (Kevin Spacey performance is 10/10, you can see his "redpill" transformation)

Crazy stupid love (Ryan Gosling helps Steve Carell get his manhood back)

American Psycho (Christian Bale (his character) really doesn't give two shits about the women in his life. He's wealthy and does whatever he wants) I RECOMMEND THIS

The Matrix

Edit: Bale doesn't have his shit together

[-] [deleted] 36 Points 11 months ago

[deleted]

[-] y_nnis 7 Points 11 months ago

Agree. He was plain delusional.

[-] DonaldBaelish 1 Point 11 months ago

Hahaha gold.

[-] kellykebab 9 Points 11 months ago

American Psycho (Christian Bale (his character) really doesn't give two shits about the women in his life. He's wealthy, has his shit together and does whatever he wants) I RECOMMEND THIS

I think you may have completely missed the point of this movie. I recommend reading the book to see how "alpha" and "shit-together-having" this character really is.

Edit: More than not having his shit together, Bale is a completely soulless conformist who derives his entire identity from a) the superficial signifiers of his social class, and b) compulsive sadism that doesn't even bring him pleasure or catharsis. The movie only hints at Bale's character. Read the book to realize what a pathetic, horrible drone this scumbag is. However, anyone with half a brain should realize the character in the movie is a hollow, insecure piece of shit. To take the opposite lesson from that film reveals a profound lack of understanding about people.

[-] BenGeudens 5 Points 10 months ago

Kinda have to agree. Patrick Bateman isn't in control of his own life at all. The scene where he nearly gets a panic attack because the other guy has a better business card is downright pathetic.

[-] kellykebab 2 Points 10 months ago

Exactly. That's practically the entire critique of the character.

[-] [deleted] 1 Point 10 months ago

Watched the first 30 minutes of this movie and thought the guy was basically a woman.

Not masculine or "alpha" in any sense.

[-] kellykebab 3 Points 10 months ago

No, I disagree with that. Bateman definitely represents a very masculine character, but it's a particularly weak, shallow version of masculinity. He's essentially the worst form of dysfunctional masculinity (i.e. excessively violent, conformist to group values, poor sense of community, etc.).

Either way, a complete piece of shit, murders aside.

The book is much, much more insightful than the movie. And much funnier.

[-] RPAlternate42 1 Point 10 months ago

Bale is the actor, Bateman is the character.

[-] kellykebab 1 Point 10 months ago

Yup

[-] daffy_duck233 6 Points 11 months ago

+1 for American beauty

[-] darkkramer -2 Point 11 months ago

Bateman is Beta

[-] Incognito_famous 3 Points 11 months ago

Very constructive.

[-] darkkramer 12 Points 11 months ago

Patrick Bateman has a horrible approval seeking mindset. He has a collection of CDs with music he doesn’t even like just to impress people who barely care. He’s also generally weakminded and his inner world collapses over the smallest things

[-] kellykebab 3 Points 11 months ago

He's also an insane murdering psycho. I thought that kid chose that movie to be ironic at first, but apparently not. Yikes

[-] BenGeudens 2 Points 10 months ago

He does have great conflict resolution skills.

[-] kellykebab 1 Point 10 months ago

Agree to disagree lol

[-] kevin_le0 28 Points 11 months ago

Drive

Night crawler

Godfather I & II

Band of Brothers

Dirty Harry

There Will Be Blood

[-] waynebradysworld 8 Points 11 months ago

Band of Brothers is fake history Spielberg poison

[-] kevin_le0 4 Points 10 months ago

Oh most definitely, made to be really patriotic. But the lessons are still important, especially duty and honor.

[-] bookofcookies 2 Points 10 months ago

duty and honor is not redpill

[-] kellykebab 2 Points 10 months ago

Duty is maybe not Red Pill, but it is definitely a masculine value. Honor is both Red Pill and masculine, without a doubt.

[-] VeniceJedi 8 Points 11 months ago

Nightcrawler was Cringy AF. Minus the manipulation and immoral stuff, yea, red pill.

[-] kellykebab 8 Points 10 months ago

The repeated choice of clearly dysfunctional, neurotic scumbags as Red Pill exemplars in this thread is disturbing. Characters like Patrick Bateman, Gyllenhal's character in Nightcrawler, the Michael Douglas character in Falling Down represent virtually the opposite path that a self-aware redpilled man should take.

Being compulsively addicted to aberrant behavior is not in any way the same thing as being rationally self-interested. I don't get how guys are missing that distinction.

[-] [deleted] 6 Points 10 months ago

Nightcrawler was far more machiavellian than "alpha".

[-] kevin_le0 4 Points 10 months ago

Jake Glyllenhaal played a cringy character. Who talks like that? haha

But he was relentless when it came to his success and goals. Went from thieving to finding something he really like to do. Went from driving a piece of shit car to a brand spanking Camaro.

Even through he’s immoral, at least he knows what he wants and what he needs to do to get it.

That’s how I saw it.

[-] VeniceJedi 3 Points 10 months ago

Agreed. It's the personal choices that didn't agree with me. The rest of it was preaty RP... he's just a slimy pos.

[-] chocolatex 7 Points 11 months ago

Just finished There Will Be Blood for the 3rd time. It's machivellian as hell. 10/10 recommend. Plainview has impeccable frame.

[-] kevin_le0 2 Points 10 months ago

Agreed, Plainview just doesn’t give a fuck.

[-] BleuSceptre 6 Points 11 months ago

Drive, dirty harry and the godfather are absolute masterpiece

[-] kevin_le0 5 Points 11 months ago

I also recommend Bronson with Tom Hardy.

[-] [deleted] 2 Points 10 months ago

Drive

Love drive.

Ryan Gosling's character is Law 4 embodied.

[-] BenGeudens 24 Points 11 months ago

You could just watch any of the oldschool Clint Eastwood movies.

[-] blister333 20 Points 11 months ago

Hell even gran Turino. Dude intimidates punk fake gangsters, looks out for his neighbors, becomes a mentor to a struggling teen, dies for what he believes in.

[-] TheStumblingWolf 8 Points 11 months ago

Unless he's dealing with that ex of his

[-] DeeLad29 9 Points 11 months ago

Yeah.. That's the difference between natural and Redpilled alphas. Hank's a natural, terrible oneitis.

[-] Goal10der 5 Points 11 months ago

Came here to say californication

[-] ShotgunTRP 2 Points 11 months ago

Some trp cunts we’re talking bout it the other day. Apparently it’s a bad example cos he’s bp as fuck for his mrs

[-] Goal10der 3 Points 11 months ago

Lmfao I’m sure those cunts are lots of fun at parties

[-] vorverk 1 Point 10 months ago

Funny. When I watched 300 with my ex, she was not impressed with any of the characters, until we meet xerxes. That's when her eyes lid up and she said how sexy he is...

[-] ACE-JHN 2 Points 10 months ago

Chicks I know loves Leonidas and Stelios (fassbender)

[-] flyoffthehandle 1 Point 8 months ago

From what I can tell that movie was almost 100% historically inaccurate. The Spartans were big into sex with boys and the Persians were actually more civilized in every way imaginable.

Just two of the many things changed or completely left out of that horrible movie.

[-] BenGeudens 20 Points 11 months ago

"Falling Down". A guy loses custody of his kid and stops putting up with the world's shit altogether.

[-] SidSacred 6 Points 11 months ago

Great film , I always think of it when I’m stuck in traffic

[-] party_dragon 6 Points 11 months ago

Law Abiding Citizen. A man's wife gets raped and killed, he revenges against those responsible (the criminals and the legal system that shields them) in the most genius brutal way.

[-] zielkarz 2 Points 11 months ago

He's just crazy.

[-] kellykebab 1 Point 11 months ago

Seriously. The satire of that movie is just repeatedly lost on the immature.

In the Alpha/Beta dichotomy, the Michael Douglas character is clearly a beta having a mental breakdown, NOT an alpha in control of himself and his environment. This character is the exact opposite of what you should strive for when trying to improve yourself. I truly find it scary that people continuously look up to this clear example of an unhinged lunatic as a hero. I guess these are the same people "impressed" by Elliot Rodger.

[-] BenGeudens 2 Points 10 months ago

It's an allegory for the red pill rage. The point in every man's life where he finds out the world isn't fair and doing what you've been taught to do gets you nowhere.

I don't think anyone really sees him as a hero either. It's just that most men will identify with his rage because we've felt it too. Doesn't mean we approve of how he expresses it.

The movie even serves as a warning that things will end badly if you don't find a healthy way to channel red pill rage.

[-] kellykebab 1 Point 10 months ago

The most charitable reading I can extend to that character is that he's at a breaking point where he has the potential to be redpilled. However, his actual behavior in the film represents both self-destruction and a blue pilled, misdirected blame for his problems on external, social phenomena. This is the exact attitude that RP-thinking criticizes in mainstream culture and feminism.

The proper response for this character would be to look inward, reevaluate, and begin a gradual process of self-mastery. Instead, Douglas' character lashes out indiscriminately. The lesson in this film is to utterly avoid the protagonist's responses.

So sure, you might argue that the film is a Red Pill cautionary tale. But I don't believe that's how it was being defended.

[-] kellykebab 1 Point 11 months ago

A guy loses custody and bitches about fast food breakfast. This character is a loser who goes insane in the ultimate blue pill temper tantrum. The filmmakers intended the film to critique this guy, not valorize him.

I would definitely recommend re-watching this film and comparing actual redpill ideas (and just plain common sense) to what this broken man does throughout the movie.

[-] BenGeudens 1 Point 10 months ago

The perfect allegory for the red pill rage.

[-] Matthias_Foley35 17 Points 11 months ago

Die Hard. Yippie Ki Yay Motherfucker

[-] Mr-Ed209 15 Points 10 months ago

first you get the money, then you get the power, then you get the woman - Should pretty much be side bar material

[-] jh1871 3 Points 10 months ago

Amen. That is probably the number 1 red pill scene in the movie, but there are many.

Well said mr ed.

[-] 1891William 4 Points 11 months ago

To an EXTEND? mothfucka did you just say to an extend? William Wallas must of taken a whole bottle of redpills,he's OD on them. Sorry dont mean to be rude (i must be bp)

[-] perplexedm 2 Points 10 months ago

Sad ending in Brave Heart somehow reminded me of bp ending in Titanic. I know I'm totally wrong there.

[-] 1891William 2 Points 10 months ago

True its sad,but very brave (Braveheart). I dont know maybe I just really love that movie

[-] perplexedm 2 Points 10 months ago

Considered it multiple times better than Titanic, even when Titanic was so much hyped up. Sadness of seeing a real hero's life getting wasted for an unmanly king still lingers in my mind. So, I want to put The Patriot above Brave Heart. As a movie, Brave Heart was tons better than many others which I remember.

[-] 1891William 2 Points 10 months ago

I agree

[-] micahg7 8 Points 11 months ago

Troy.

Brad Pitt and Eric Bana are the alpha males on different sides of the war. Orlando Boom as the beta, alpha male wannabe.

[-] saggygooch20 8 Points 11 months ago

I couldn't say many RP films but there are plenty of films that lack lovey dovey BP shit. Watch a decent crime drama or thriller.

[-] [deleted] 2 Points 11 months ago

[-] saggygooch20 2 Points 11 months ago

I think having swallowed the red pill you will just pick stuff up and notice the little things more. Like hearing a song and thinking "ah this singer is a blue pilled idiot ill try not to think to much about the lyrics. Probably why a lot of the music i listen to know Is either confusing psychedelic or intentionally vulger and silly lyrics. I'll always love nirvana but fuck me are they blue pill.

[-] Cross_De_Lena 8 Points 11 months ago

Mad Men

[-] Uzinero 6 Points 10 months ago

Just finished watching Mad Men yesterday. Highly recommend it too. I think Roger is generally a lot more of a red-pilled alpha than Don is and a lot more fun of a character, best in the show imo.

[-] PB0034 7 Points 11 months ago

If you haven’t seen Generation Kill you’re missing out big fucking time.

[-] johncillo 7 Points 10 months ago

Nobody has mentioned it: Breaking Bad

A blue pill guy transformation into red pill (Heisenberg).

[-] dustprince 6 Points 11 months ago

count of monte cristo, the newer adaption. Character development from the start of the movie till the end is amazing.

[-] Austinisfullgohome 3 Points 10 months ago

The one with that caviezel dude? Yeah, that's good film right there.

[-] PliskinRed 6 Points 11 months ago

Vicky Christina Barcalona

[-] GayLubeOil 6 Points 11 months ago

The Red Pill is a rejection of Hollywood blue pill virtual reality in favor of the authentic masculine Real. That's the meaning of the metaphor.

Meanwhile here you are asking for Blue Pill Hollywood indoctrination recommendations and have a chorus of retards answering your question.

How about you punch yourself in the dick a couple of times? Then waddle outside and experience reality.

[-] EvolvedA 6 Points 11 months ago

A 100 times this. Even though The Gladiator and American Beauty are some good examples for RP behavior, they are fictional bullshit. It is porn for the bluepilled male who can feel just like an alpha male for 90 minutes without being one, a feel-good movie if you wish. Just like spiderman is for 6 year olds. Anyone who disagrees should watch the scene in American Beauty when Kevin Spacey throws his job and watch yourself how you feel after doing so, then ask where this feeling came from. From actually achieving or doing something?

[-] GayLubeOil 1 Point 11 months ago

This exactly

[-] hatefulreason 1 Point 10 months ago

look at the bright side, you can make a current assessment of the sub after the ban streak reddit's been on. i see a lot of new comments here (newer than yours) that prove the people that came here are not looking for actual advice or at least a rp example

[-] GayLubeOil 3 Points 10 months ago

Thanks for the heads up. I'll generate a strategy to purge them just like we did with the Peterson trap.

[-] PB0034 3 Points 11 months ago

Everything is BP for you

Wherever we are politically today, for good and bad, is because of war. You can’t escape it.

[-] GayLubeOil -1 Point 11 months ago

Yea just bend over spread cheaks and accept the system. Why are you in the Red Pill again?

[-] PB0034 3 Points 11 months ago

You lift iron and are afraid of violence. Why are you in the Red Pill again?

[-] GayLubeOil 2 Points 11 months ago

Who does said voilence serve? Probably didn't think that far huh? Being a tool of a hostile elite is blue pill.

[-] PB0034 3 Points 10 months ago

When enemy on the other side of the world erase the towers on your land, idk from which part of the world you are but, we don’t sit with dicks in our hands and come up with different definition of what is blue or red or rainbow.

[-] GayLubeOil 3 Points 10 months ago

Cool story except that there was no enemy on the other side of the world there was however a Project For A New American Century which had to be jump started with a "pearl harbor like event" afterwords the Patriot Act which was written well in advanced was instantly stamped into approval.

You should probably go eat a big meal, don't want to swallow this many Red Pills on an empty stomach.

Also while we're here the CIA assassinated Kennedy after his secret society speach and the Golf of Tonkin was a false flag to get us into Vietnam.

[-] PB0034 1 Point 10 months ago

Sources?

[-] a-memorable-fancy 1 Point 11 months ago

but going on sam fucking bee is fine cause thats the game right?

movies are not fucking evil my dude.

[-] GayLubeOil 2 Points 11 months ago

There's a difference between activity having a discussion (on television) and passively absorbing Hollywood degeneracy.

Unfortunately that distinction is lost on tardos

[-] a-memorable-fancy 2 Points 11 months ago

i agree that most people in here have some pretty poor selections and that they're not going into why any of the movies are 'redpill', but i wouldn't chuck an entire medium just cause its made by reptiles. if nothing else it pays to know what's popular. we're getting our asses kicked on the media front and an awareness of the form will help to be more critical.

[-] GayLubeOil 2 Points 11 months ago

Reptiles can be entertaining but OP is looking for Reptile mascule inspiration. That's the problem

[-] a-memorable-fancy 2 Points 11 months ago

dude, part of the problem is that not everyone is gonna be an alpha, and not everyone is gonna be an alpha right now. some of these guys are just looking for a shorthand definition they can refer to. i get where you're coming from and i get that it's from a place of experience, but with all due respect, alphas give some really shitty advice because alphas don't know how they got where they are. if these dudes are leading themselves wrong, as i have more times than i can count, then they'll learn. you can't expect brilliance out the gate, let them use the training wheels.

[-] GayLubeOil 5 Points 11 months ago

The Red Pill is a fundamentaly elitist philosophy as it builds upon Plato's alegory of the cave. If your cuckwad betas are incapable of leadership they should fuck off back to their trap hentai. There's nothing Red Pill about a daycare center for Beta Cuckwads. In fact that's what all of society is a massive Cuck shack, the Red Pill is a rejection of that.

Anyone looking for a shorthand easy definition of Red Pill is a subhuman prole. We owe them nothing because they are nothing.

Furthermore I reject you reflexive incompetence. Believing yourself capable is the first step on the way up. If you don't believe in yourself then I certainly don't either.

In summary: I reject your horizontal slave morality.

[-] a-memorable-fancy 2 Points 10 months ago

Plato's alegory of the cave.

oh that's why your replies suck.

[-] kellykebab 2 Points 10 months ago

You can view films as either vicarious wish-fulfillment (blue pill) or as a dramatization of human falibility (red pill).

One can obtain wisdom and insight from any kind of media as long as one has a critical eye.

Relying on movies or popular culture for motivation is lame, but balancing out some amount of well-selected media with a vigorous engagement with real life seems perfectly healthy to me.

[-] Chaddeus_Rex 1 Point 10 months ago

Instead of Hollywood indocterination examples we should give them RP historical examples of men to read about. Homework on RP men like Julius Caesar, Alexander, Thucidydes (March of the 10 000), etc. They will learn far more by reading themselves and thinking about it.

[-] [deleted] 6 Points 10 months ago

If you want to see some movies about hypergamy and the ugly side of female nature i suggest:

  • Tyler Perry' s Temptation
  • Addicted
  • Blue Valentine
  • Gone Girl
  • “Ex Machnia”
[-] frontiermarine 9 Points 10 months ago

hah! i watched temptation with my ex girlfriend a few years ago, (SPOILER ALERT) she cried at the end saying how horrible for the wife in the movie to cheat on her husband for the rich guy, gave me the puppy eye look and said would never do the same thing to me and kissed me on the cheek, few years later she cheated on me with her boss.

[-] rob_holloway 1 Point 10 months ago

Lol. Dude that movie is brutal but so true. Of course the circumstances are exaggerated but if you want to see hypergamy in action its easy to see in that movie. Had a similar experience to you, watched it with my ex who said she would never do anything like that. Long story short she ends up leaving me for her "bestfriend" that she "reconnected" with.

A curious and underlooked movie, with an uncurrent of parallel themes about hypergamy and male disposability that show up in several character realtionships: kid vs the girl he's crushing on, kid's mother divorcing the father, McConaughey's char and his ex, one other I think.

The subtle messge is at the very end of the movie....the kid's found out the girl doesn't like him, as well as gone through some other hijinks (like McConaughey's character's issues) that showed him a bigger world. Last shot of the movie is, the kids sees that girl again in passing. Rather than moon over again, he just smirks knowingly. The kid understands female nature now. He's taken the red pill.

Movie has a few other red pill messages, like governments booting people out of their homes.

Weirdly, Steve Carrol’s character in the movie “Get Smart” is a great example of frame control.

"What Love Is"

It's a small indie movie shot kinda weird: all on one set. Takes place on v-day when a girl leaves Cuba G. Jr. a 'Dear John' and his buddies come over to help him celebrate.

Matt Lillard took the red pill.

Frank and Lola: a lesson in how NOT to game a girl. Perfect for a lot of you guys coming here for advice.

I just re-watched Basic Instinct from a Red Pill perspective. The Sharon Stone character is clearly a Borderline Personality Disordered woman.

The Michael Douglas character thinks he's alpha, but he's always in chase mode and she manipulates him perfectly into falling in love with her. The ambiguous ending suggests he's her next victim in more ways than one.

There is no better movie on attraction and female hamstering: Travolti da un insolito destino nell'azzurro mare d'agosto (original title). This is basically the original, italian version of Swept Away.

I typically gravitate towards characters that embody nobility, though of course not the nobility, or lack thereof, ostensibly inherent of aristocratic pieces of shit.

These characters are typically loners, in a sense, but who have led lives that many mainstream peoples would respect, and who have now realized (red-pilled) was an installation of a program meant to denigrate them and continue to abridge their freedom and thinking to explore existence and its applicable truths.

Though it's played by a Tom Cruise, Jack Reacher is a great example of a man who's truthful perception of the world is exemplified by his state of being within it. He doesn't interact with its systems unless absolutely necessary.

This scene should be watched in its entirety but if you don't have the time then watch from 1:05 to 1:28. This is the crux. The cross and path, to bear and walk. At least, as it concerns certain elements of redpill philosophy interacting with sexual dynamics. But essentially, the entire film is a redpill for modernity and its infectious and parasitic need to deform humanity. Funnily enough, for a couple of tries when I tried to type humanity it came out as habitual, or in other words: programmed.

Another one I like was Shooter. Mark Wahlberg is ex-military, like Cruise's character, who lives out in nature doing his thing after some shit goes down.

Mind you, these films are violent but the violence perpetrated by the protagonists is never initiated, particularly after leaving their old blue-pilled lives. They only go to war now if violence is initiated upon them. Shooter is in fact so redpilled- even if it still has a more than rosy sense of government and its ethos of force- that it kills... well, watch till the end, he said as if you'd stop just shy of the last 5 minutes. I'm a pacifist, until those dispossessed need assistance, but that ending was quite cathartic to my rage at centralized mechanisms of force and it had me cheering.

In essence, any character in a film who doesn't follow a program meant to enslave them, be it political, militaristic, financial, religious et al is one we should look to emulate, within reason. After all, they're still fictional programs from a mainstream source meant to program us further: the media. Be well my friends.

Anything with Lee Marvin, especially Point Blank, Prime Cut, and The Dirty Dozen

Most John Wayne movies, although sometimes he plays a more comedic role. My personal favorite, besides The Searchers (where he's more an anti-hero) is Big Jake

The Wild Bunch (another western with awesome shootouts and tough guys)

Honestly, most films since the 70s generally portray a fairly cynical view of manhood. There are still manly characters, but they are either deeply troubled and neurotic (e.g. The Dark Knight, Raging Bull) or they're unrealistic, bulletproof cartoon versions of men (e.g. Arnold Scharwzenegger).

I struggle to think of genuinely self-confident, effective, and believable male characters in movies of the last 20-30 years.

Also, I'd recommend The Andy Griffith Show for television. This might strike younger guys as a really corny choice, but Sheriff Andy Taylor in this show is the ultimate example of a benevolent alpha leader. He is brave, strong, athletic, and the number one guiding force in his community. Sometimes, TRP goes overboard in advocating blind self-interest and nihilism. Andy Taylor represents a vision of fatherhood and civic leadership that is both very alpha (Andy always gets the girl) and genuinely pro-social, in an authentic, pre-feminist mold. I highly recommend this show for those interested in more positive, community-oriented male role models.

I saw a trailer for an upcoming film called “Alpha” that seems to be about the son of a nomad chieftain trying to get back to his tribe with the help of a wolf. It’s a pre-historic film, and I have high hopes for it.
