I still don't quite get it. When ever they see a guy with muscles they are attracted to them but say they are not. When I work out and show the results at my classroom some of my female classmates say "You have been bulking up. why are you working out so hard?" "I want to try some martial arts in the future and get some girls ;)""Oh I personally don't like muscles. You are fine just the way you are".
Note I am still a beta and don't really have the courage of becoming alpha yet because I still have lots of insecurities.
Matsew 9y ago
women are always trying to betafy the men in their lives. this is one of the many ways to do it. weak betas=easy to control. alphas who don't give two shits about what they say=hot.
favours_of_the_moon 9y ago
It's because they are liars.
fourbet 9y ago
This is just a hamster thing, and men are guilty of male hamstering in the opposite direction.
How many times have you heard a man say "I don't like when girls wear makeup".
What they really mean is: "I don't like girls who make it obvious they are wearing a lot of makeup".
When a women says that she may have various reasons but what she really means is "I don't like gigantic HGH bodybuilders" most of the time.
Bronze_Bound 9y ago
I like girls with big butts.
cascadecombo 9y ago
If someone asks why:
it's because you enjoy it
If someone doesn't like muscles:
That's cool, I like mine
You're fine just the way you are:
Standing still in life is boring, dontcha think?
The bottom line is, you have your goals and you want to / enjoy working towards them. Never complain about it.
Words are to be taken at face value.
Modified_Hackware 9y ago
There's an awful lot of over-explanation for what is just a shit test.
I don't like muscles.
I don't like gingers.
I don't like short guys.
They're just taking something they think you care about and seeing how weak you are to her attempt at rustling your jimmies.
Correct answers are:
I hate muscles too.
You don't like steak? GTFO.
Yeah I don't do sea food either.
Yeah? I don't like fat bitches... Give her a sidelong glance. (Be humorous, not serious).
ilovemagicmush 9y ago
Because when women think of muscles they think of someone who eats like shit and lifts weights and looks like a bloofy bodybuilder. Not a lean and aesthetic muscular physique.
AZTRP 9y ago
I've been thinking about that type of statement recently. /u/BrunoOh seems to have nailed why. When I first met my wife I was 30lbs heavier (fatty). I lost that early on. Whenever fitness comes up she says "but I loved you when you were fat"
I think it might be a predefense against having to step up their own game. If their SO is shaping up they might ship out so it could be a subconscious effort to head that off.
AZTRP 9y ago
on further thought my confidence has always been high so she might be afraid of what will happen if it gets even higher. Same line though, fear of future effort.
BrunoOh 9y ago
You're getting there.
1) Your SMV is two or more points higher than theirs (+1 is stable). The passive dread is crushing them. I notice that too when I interact with girls. The ones that are much lower get insecure and distrustful when I'm around them, even though I wouldn't necessarily rule them out. It's like how 6s tend to be bitchy but 8s tend to be nice and cheerful. I can't help but feel that the 6s would do much better if they behaved as 8s and dropped the entitlement attitude. That's true for men too - attractive guys are usually much nicer.
2) Beta-fication. They (unconsciously) want to lower your SMV to secure your commitment and to keep you from straying. Useful if they need their provisioning but not so much nowadays.
3) Insecurity in general, I'd guess.
Go get your SO's ass to the gym ;)
AZTRP 9y ago
I agree on all points.
StarDestinyGuy 9y ago
Boy that line is bad.
"Why wouldn't I want to make myself the best man I can be?" would be my natural response.
Beautiful_Idealism 9y ago
That line is just as bad.
StarDestinyGuy 9y ago
That isn't a line, that's just my natural response to hearing a silly question like "why are you working out so much?"
yoyoz69 9y ago
Who really asks that question?
DrXaos 9y ago
What about "I'm a man, it's what I do."

nicememeboss 9y ago
I want to lift heavy ass weights
timetogomobile 9y ago
eh, I would say it depends. There's a difference between being muscular and looking like a roided out freak—I'm going to keep a happy thought and assume they don't like muscles because of the latter reason.
You also have to realize how much some women hate their bodies. So anyone who is making an active effort to look and be healthier are instantly above them (figuratively). I think it ultimately comes down to envy—they wish they had the determination to go to the gym.
I consider myself to be in relatively good shape and a little muscular but even I get a little envious when I see the guy beside me has biceps bigger than my head.
atypicalgamergirl 9y ago
Depends on the degree of musculature:
Ripped guy on front of Men's Health = sexy
Veiny bulging bodybuilder on front of Musclemag = not
bsutansalt 9y ago
What they think they want and what they respond to aren't always the same thing. Often times it's completely the opposite.
Redrog1 9y ago
Why do women shit test?
SeekingTheWay 9y ago
Really? "and get some girls"? Thats basically putting a sticker on yourself saying "HELLO, I AM EXTREMELY NEEDY. I WILL INVEST TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF EFFORT JUST SO YOU WOULD LIKE ME"
sealteamaus 9y ago
women will constantly test you to see if they can influence you.
did you buy a lamborghini? "oh i hate expensive cars, it just means you have a small dick".
did you star in a big hollywood movie? "oh i hate movies" even though its so fuckin stupid they are just testing to see if you are able to be influenced by them
[deleted] 9y ago
Because people leap to the extremes. Women say they don't want to lift because the image the have of women who lift weights is the professional who builds mass with the assistance of strict dieting, and hormone assistance, and would rather look like a cardio bunny, even though cardio is less efficient in terms of weight loss.
So when asked if women like guys with muscles, they think of the guys who look like Greek monsters.
You're overly concerned with titles.
DOCTORxTEETH 9y ago
Who really understands why women say anything? They constantly say shit they don't mean. Pay attention to what they do, not what they say.
And this shit:
Don't say this shit again. You sound like Yamcha from Dragon Ball. "I just want the dragon balls so I won't be scared of girls anymore!"
Bronze_Bound 9y ago
srs, that is so cringe worthy. Sounds like something a 11 year old would say over text to a fat cunt.
thelotusknyte 9y ago
Dude they're just sabotaging you with their words. What you should hear when they say that is that they don't like hard work and they're feeling guilty or shitty about themselves because you're working hard. Those are stupid girls.
More importantly, who cares? Stop looking for validation from females.
thor_away92 9y ago
Girls who say they don't like muscles never had muscles. "Asshold alphas" prowl on the weak. A man who's ripped and is alpha doesn't hunt the weak.
[deleted] 9y ago
It's like a guy saying "I like average girls, not models". Pride defense mechanism.
BrunoOh 9y ago
1) Crab bucket mentality.
2) Pre emptive rejection/they are insecure because you look better than they do. They want to reject you before you get a chance to reject them. Also why fatties are so delusional about desiring muscular guys.
3) 80% of men are below average. In their mind, a somewhat but not overly muscular guy like you or me is the average. When you and I think of guys that lift, we think of guys that lift. When they think about guys that lift, they think of the roided up mass monsters. What we think of about "normal", is normal, the average skinnyfat guy. Their normal is either of us.
That reminds me of my mom. I'd been working out for like three months without telling them, two of which she and others spent commenting about how muscular I was getting/was. Then she asked me "Bruno, have you ever thought of joining a gym?". They didn't believe me when I told them I already was.
And, lay down the bragging. They can see you're muscular, no need to tell them. Remember the laws of power. Their perception must be that your sweet self is actually yourself, you don't have to put in effort to look as good as you do and everything comes naturally. But you and I damn well know that isn't the case.
When someone mentions that I'm in shape, I usually play it off with something like "Yeah, I have good genes", "I like to pick up and put down heavy stuff", "I occasionally have threesomes with iron and gravity" or "I thank my momma every night for what she gave me". "Thanks" is acceptable if you can't think of something.
Matsew 9y ago

Average is 2. 80% of the values are below average.
I'm not from this sub but the math is fine even if the data aren't.
truchisoft 9y ago
The point of the comment really flew past you.
What he means is that for women, the male "average body" is a body that 80% of males fail to have, thus putting 80%,of males under below average.
He even then says what they mean when they say they don't like muscular guys. What a woman usually means is that she doesn't like Schwarzenegger types, but still loves average looking guys, which are actually only guys in the top 20% of bodies.
BrunoOh 9y ago
That's what the hamster perceives. Hamsters don't care about things like reality, truth or facts.

This is the problem. I don't care if its the truth or you say it in a cheeky way, any improvements made by someone to get others to like them is pathetic.
So you see women go after guys with muscles but they say they are not attracted to it. Actions trump words. Cognitive Dissonance. Look it up.
This is them showing an interest in you but in a passive way. They are basically saying they are noticing your body, but you weren't always like that, so what are you up to? Is your improvement genuine? They are doing a congruency test. They are checking to see if the outside matches the inside.
When you say you are going to try (Just do it - Nike) martial arts (really? what are you 5? Do MMA. Play a sport) and get some girls you are showing that you are NOT congruent, in fact you are the worst type of man to a woman....let me explain:
You are a Beta in an Alpha's skin. You are tricking them. You are toying with their emotions and attraction. You wasted their time. Your the equivalent of a girl wearing a push up bra, a pound of makeup, and a slimming body wrap.
This is the typical response for you failing the congruency test. Translation: I dont like muscles on you because YOU ARE A BETA. LOOK LIKE A BETA SO I DONT WASTE MY TIME WITH YOU.
-Luthe- 9y ago
This is the best answer.
Bronze_Bound 9y ago
when they say they don't like muscles, they are talking about guys bigger or the same size as Batista. This does not apply to anyone smaller than batista.
LeDispute 9y ago
You could respond by saying "That's what my last girlfriend said."
tatrp 9y ago
Personally I think it means "I don't like effort and guys who try too hard". It's a basic TRP concept... but to be fair, usually by muscles they mean some bodybuilder at 5% bf. Show them a picture of a good looking guy with a decent amount of lean mass at 10% and let's see the reactions.
druganswer 9y ago
Yeah, they say "i don't like muscles" and they mean guys on the bodybuilding magazine cover...
They want you to have muscles like a free safety in the NFL which is still bigger than 95% of guys are going to get... so yeah basically it's like the "he's ugly" about a guy who is a 7 because the 20% rule
Mattpilf 9y ago
Yep, most women prefer men to look athletic, not "musceley" like a body builder. Of course you don't get to look like Cristiano Ronaldo without lifting. You don't need steroids and you don't need to spend all day lifting, but you generally need a regular program. Some even like less muscular men, like how Brad Pitt in Fight Club, as supposed to when he played Achilles. Vast majority prefer a lean, but masculine silhouette though.
There are exceptions, as some women prefer huge men, some like super lean, but 'athletic' is what almost ones who say they don't like "muscles" mean, and midt don't like seeing striations of individual muscle fibers either, but that's just unsustainable body fat anyways. On the flip side, If OP has been bulking to the point of losing almost all abdominal definition, he's gone too far as well.
aguy01 9y ago
Yep. Just like girls don't like guys who learn game. They obviously love being gamed, but they hate the beta that has to try in order to be good at it.
SoldierGenerale 9y ago
We're the hunters and they're the prey.
Why would a prey tell a wannabe hunter the best way to catch them?
It's in their nature to keep beta's beta, it would just make it alot more confusing to figure out who's actually a loser and who's sex-worthy
sampson158 9y ago
Agreed, dont listen to the girls telling you that. They feel threatened when you up your SMV. Your self confidence will threaten them too. Dont let it stop you. you'll have them all knocking your door down. they dont want that, they want you to be their beta orbiter so you can pay for their baby. also you becoming more alpha threatens their self confidence.

Law 30: make your accomplishments seem effortless. A pretty basic RP concept really.
Let people think your muscles, your game, your money, etc simply be facets of how you've always been. It's totally illogical, but like you said, that level of dedication and success do not exist in their reality.
If you can do such things so easily, then imagine what you could do if you really tried! The fantasy they construct will always be better than the real thing. Confronting that fantasy is an attack on their ego, and is completely counterproductive.
[deleted] 9y ago

nicememeboss 9y ago
I disagree, bitches love dedication

FTFY
FinallyRed 9y ago
Is that what they say the love or is that what you've seen them flock to? Does the average women "love" the guy who is dedicated to her, to the soul-sucking job necessary to provide for her and her progeny? She'll say so, but in actuality he is utilitarian in purpose. Her true love is reserved for the mysterious guy, the guy who doesn't reveal too much, who doesn't yap about how hard he has to try to be who he is, even though it's the truth.
nicememeboss 9y ago
She says she loves a simple man, but in reality its the ambitious and dedicate man. Who makes things happen.
Noculum 9y ago
Thats horse shit. Plenty of women can devote to something. Women bodybuilders exist y'know.

Op, don't be a sad cunt. If a woman sais anything about your muscles, good or bad just respond with the simple but amazing line "You mirn'?" They will have no fucking idea what you are talking about and will say "wot?" which you respond with "you mirin' my aesthetics?" after that, laugh at them and tell them you just have good genetics and that you don't even lift. srs
nophoney 9y ago
"why are you working out so much?"
Be amused
You've been checking me out haven't you? Does my butt look good in these jeans?
loin_fruit 9y ago
I always assumed it was a reflection of their confidence. I feel like most girls who say that shit are girls who have low self esteem so they know they can't get it. They think they're unattractive and can't get those men. Why judge yourself and tell yourself that you can get better to achieve the muscle dudes when you can just talk shit about the muscle dudes and bring them down to your level or lower?
Female hamster at work
evader11 9y ago
Don't listen to what they say. watch what they do. very simple TRP concept OP.
Poldonis 9y ago
I look at it as her trying to keep you beta. One less orbiter, one less beta buck and one more guy she can't resist
1NV0K3R 9y ago
"I don't like muscles" translates to "I don't like you"
Also, god damn your line for working out made me physically cringe.
bertmaklinFBI 9y ago
This is not true. If you look at my post it goes into more depth.
They approach him because of his muscles. That is interest. We don't approach/talk to things/people we don't like.
She doesn't like muscles ON HIM because of that horrible answer that makes him fail her/their congruency test.

They don't like douches with muscles.
They also don't like skinny douches.
Put a nice skinny guy next to a nice guy with muscles... suddenly they like muscles again.
