I did technical theatre in high school and the director was a two time cancer survivor, a prima ballerina, and just a hard core badass. My school had just built a new theatre and only people over 16 were allowed in the catwalks above the stage. At the time I was the only person above 16 and within walking distance of the school so I would be the student their early to do final adjustments.

We were setting up for some prestigious youth male choir. I think it might have been the vienna boys choir but i dont remember. Either way I got there an hour and a half before school started to do final adjustments on the mikes while the director was off doing stuff. AN hour into all sorts of petty, ridiculous adjustments he showed up to check on me. He asked me how it was going and I told him that wed been making tiny tweeks for an hour and should be done soon. He shut the sound proof window and muted the mike I'd been using to talk to the conductor. Then he said "IR, I'm going to teach you a very important lesson today." He unmuted the mike and said to the conductor "I'm here now. Let's wrap this up" The conductor asked him to raise the level of some mike and jean looked at me and said "watch. I count to ten and we don't touch anything" Then he said over the mikes "Okay is that better" The conductor said yes sounds good and we were finished. Jean saif "you see IR, everyone is full of shit."
