And what is your major?
woke_wizard 5y ago
Marketing
Naveos 5y ago
You are paid by how easily replaced you are. Hone and refine your skills, know-how, and expertise to the point that you are very difficult to replace; and you will earn a lot.
Or just start your own marketing agency - and outperform your competitors.

You're fucked.
woke_wizard 5y ago
Can you elaborate?
LLL3peat 5y ago
Marketing is very broad and can do many things. It’s not a high demand market which has a niche. You’ll have to specialize in something to make it useful. Otherwise you’ll be another one of those business graduates who can’t find work or just runs a social media page.
MrAgamemnon 5y ago
You picked a useless major.
CaptDeadlift 5y ago
Most degrees are useless since the real end game is to be an entrepreneur to make bank.
I myself am finishing an engineering degree in automation and even if it will make decent money it still isn't the "end game".
I just want to major in something I truly am passionate about and those are computers.
Already working in the industry but if I want to progress through the ranks I need the degree.
But my dream is still to own a gym/restaurant with a mid west theme.
Knowledge is useless if it isn't backed by practical experience.
MrAgamemnon 5y ago
The point of getting a degree in something is to 1) learn something and 2) to get your foot in the door.
A marketing major offers neither.

Don't just pick a corporate job that pays the most. Really think about what you want to do. I have had high-paying jobs that aren't worth it.
That said, you want to go to events and introduce yourself to people, apply for positions and prep for the interview. Try to avoid any feminine workplaces would be my best tip unless you enjoy hearing about the bachelor and wedding dresses all day.
huggyblossom 5y ago
As stated below your best bet is to be in an high paying area with less specialists around.

For exampla I am keen in Fraud prevention in the online payments sector (AML,KYC, online payments) and my income is around 2,5-3 x times higher than the average in my country. There is always need for someone like me in the e-commerse and I have no worries about my job stability.

Marketing on the other hand is somewhat profitable, but from my experience in several big firms the high management replace dudes with hot girls on any given chance, since if you pay high figuires for anything useless like marketing and HR you prefer looks over quality.

If you have no experience, lie on your resume and lie during the interview. Anyone who opposes this advice and recommends "ethics", "integrity", "honesty", etc. are full of shit and lag behind (compared to where they could be).
Once you get the right experience, you won't have to lie.
Just be confident in what you put on your resume because you'll be questioned during the interview.
