A bit of background, I met this backpacker from Holland in early December last year. I knew she dug me initially because I didn't care for her. But then I was pretty bitch beta when i realised she liked me a little, so nothing happened. I also think this may have killed her interest as well. Then I didn't see her since late December. Since January, I've been slowly swallowing the pill.
Last Thursday on March 14 I said fuck it and texted her with 'Hey Holly, How's it going? When do you leave Melbourne?' She says she's well and she leaves in April. Then I reply with 'we should grab coffee Friday afternoon.' She didn't respond. On messenger it said she had not 'seen' the message, but I'm sure she probably would have seen the notification and just not bothered to click it. Then today on the 24th March she replies back with 'Oh my God so sorry I totally forgot.'

Now what should I do?
Anyone with previous experience, please tell me how to handle this. What are her motives for bothering to respond to the message? Why the need to respond when she most likely saw it earlier?

If she is interested in meeting, she will work out her details for you and set it up. The ball is in her court. You continue with your life.

I like your response the best. The ONLY way that OP gets with her, is if he takes down her self esteem a little bit.
He shouldn't "try again" as some suggest, well, I guess he can, but he'll just get rejected and humiliated.
Being indifferent in devaluing a woman is sometimes and aphrodisiac for them.
If she takes off in April and she never sees him again, it would be better if he remembered that his last attempts at her where feigning indifference instead of "trying again" with this girl leaving with a self esteem boost after rejecting OP for a second time.

Yeah she wants you as an orbiter. If she wanted to hang out she would have responded way sooner. Always look at her actions not her words. Women are very good at communicating that way. Ignore. Moe on. World of pain if you continue to engage this girl.

Hold frame, and do what is in YOUR best interest. Show the 'forgetting' hasn't phased you, and give it a shot. If she passes you off again - next.

My initial reaction is to make a joke and invite her out again. But thinking about it, she took 10 days to reply, she didn’t offer to reschedule and gave a complete bs excuse so it’s up to you.
I personally don’t see why you shouldn’t have another go as you have nothing to lose but if she flakes again then next for sure.

You should forget about her. She's leaving the country in a week and while you might have been a bitch beta last year, you still are now and there is nothing you can do inside a week will change that.
