I'm sick of slaving away my life and not being able to do what I want in life. A big obstacle is my lack of financial independence. Looking to improve this area of my life. What books would everyone recommend?

the bible of this is "the millionaire next door." If disagree with much of the content of this book, you will never grow wealth.
also check out mr. money mustache.
avoid ramsey, suzie, and most of the "gurus". if you can't live under your means, and be a bit austere, you will never grow your wealth. period.

Find a valuable skill you have a natural talent for. Invest in related knowledge and build expert level experience (7-10 years), get complimentary experience in secondary skills. Network, then move off into your own business offering.

Do yourself a favour think in terms of Scaling . Can I scale this thing so the income is independent of my input . So easy to end up building yourself an average paying job with worse cash flow than a job .
