I'm 44. I got one two years ago. In the last month three women have told me they "might be pregnant" and if they were they would keep the baby.
Good times!
One called me "incredibly selfish", another said it was an "extreme" thing to do. They are all in their 30s, so biological clock and all that. I just don't want any mistakes...
I wouldn't recommend it if you are young and don't already have your full set of kids though.

I've had two women try the pregnancy trap on me. One was faking to try to get a wedding. The other cheated and got pregnant by the other dude. Their faces when I showed them my medical records that say I'm sterile... priceless.
Edit: even if I wasn't already sterile I'd have gotten a vasectomy years ago. Not even 1% interest in having children.
Morphs_ 5y ago
Omg, the entitlement of that hamster is just nuts. As if you owe her children.
vicious_armbar 5y ago
If someone really is "incredibly selfish" they'd make a horrible father. The most compassionate choice for everyone involved is to take proactive action to make sure that never happens.
The only selfish person I see is a woman willing to destroy two other lives in order to seek personal fulfillment. To the point that she's actually willing to commit fraud and force someone into involuntary servitude for 18 years to complete her socially sanctioned checklist.
Zanford 5y ago
I hope OP replied with a deadpan "my body, my choice".
Aesthetik_1 5y ago
lol Brilliant. You should go with it once and try for how long they play the “might be pregnant” card and act like you start to panic about it
MOSFETBJT 5y ago
Omg please go along with this shit for 9 months and then break up with her ass right when she gives birth LOL.
Tell her about the vasectomy then and right a funny blog post about it.
Whodatunkit 5y ago
Happy to see I wasnt the only one who got cut then was later told I might be the father of their child...priceless. it was just my turn, even for a night. It still happens at least 4 times a year for me. Women are awful...hell one even said, damn, I cant believe I'm not pregnant yet, I let you blow it in me all the time...well, she got knocked the fuck up, told her the V news. Kicked her to the curb. Later I found out she got that thing scrambled and pulled out, both the fetus and her tubes. Wild man. Just wild.
temerity18 5y ago
It is easy to figure out what percentage of fathers were forced into fatherhood. You see them walking around everywhere. Pushing a pram is even too much work for the mother. Those guys look utterly broken. Utterly miserable.
temerity18 5y ago
Well done. I wonder if women who got their tubes tied are "incredibly selfish".
vicious_armbar 5y ago
Also if someone is "incredibly selfish" why would you want them to force them into involuntary parenthood?! That sounds like a recipe for disaster.
Musicgoon 5y ago
I got mine at 30. I love it! I also love raw dogging without worry! Its the shit!
cat_magnet 5y ago
Im hoping the male pill will be available soon.
vicious_armbar 5y ago
I'll believe it when I see it.
boredepression 5y ago
I got one at 24. Best decision I ever made. Course I already had 2 kids and knew Id never want more. No side effects and wasnt painful to have done.
HeadingRed 5y ago
Just passed 50 - been thinking about it for a few years. Would stash some swimmers just in case. Been on the Vasogel email list for years.
Bottom line is I'd just like to not have to worry about it. Hard to get past volunteering to have a scalpel on my sack tho.
Musicgoon 5y ago
It's very easy. It didn't really hurt at all. And these days they just make two little pinholes. It's a really mild procedure.
_Tactleneck_ 5y ago
I did it without taking the benzo before and event sober the procedure is pretty painless after the local anesthetic. Worth it.
temerity18 5y ago
Go for it. You will get anesthesia. Best money you will ever spend.
boredepression 5y ago
The pain is very minimal. Ive had shots that hurt way more.
HeadingRed 5y ago
It's not about the pain. I've taken a knife to myself to remove a insanely deep and bad splinter. I've re-attached - successfully - the chopped off tip of my thumb. I'm not squeamish about me doing something - it's someone else having a knife by my nuts that makes it a nope.
Do you know if they can knock you out before?
boredepression 5y ago
Lol thats the silliest reason ive heard... They are doctors, they want your money, not to give u money thru a lawsuit. The knife is nothin, just a tiny slit in the sack so they can pull the tubes out. Then the tubes are cut and burned shut, put back in. The slit is so small no stiches even.
No, anesthesia can be dangerous, they will not knock you out for such a minor procedure.
HeadingRed 5y ago
It is silly phobia - I grossed out a former GF who watched me cut myself pretty deep to get a long broken splinter out of my left arm. It's not the pain - if I could I'd probably be able to do it to myself. It's just someone else with a knife on my nuts that gives me the willies.
Did you have kids before you had it done? Did you have them put some on ice in case for whatever reason you decide to have kids later?
boredepression 5y ago
Yes I had kids. No, I didnt put any away.
MisterRoid 5y ago
No.
busshelterrevolution 5y ago
Why not
boredepression 5y ago
Only reason not to is if you want kids. Otherwise getterdone. No change in sex, no change in anything. Except now theres 0 worries about unwanted kids.
[deleted] 5y ago
Yup.
Pusikur 5y ago
Yes
[deleted] 5y ago
Why make a final decision - on having kids - now, when you don't have to. After a couple of kids, perhaps.
Fakecel_normie 5y ago
When you're young the answer is no but as you get older chicks will be trying to get pregnant. I'd consider it.
boredepression 5y ago
I got one at 24. Best decision I ever made. Course I already had 2 kids and knew Id never want more. No side effects and wasnt painful to have done.
_Tactleneck_ 5y ago
I got one at 27. No kids. Never want them. No regrets and no side effects.
disgruntledearthling 5y ago
Got one at 59. No-knife, local anesthetic. 10 minutes in out
vicious_armbar 5y ago
How long did recovery take?
disgruntledearthling 5y ago
I was lifting in about 10 days. No real pain or discomfort after a couple of day. It’s been a while but I think I was on my motorcycle after about 4 days
ThatKidinAfrica 5y ago
How do they do it without a blade?
disgruntledearthling 5y ago
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_scalpel_vasectomy
Herdsengineers 5y ago
Had it done 6 months ago. I'm 43. Have one son, at one point wanted more kids but that has passed. I don't want to be in my 40's dealing with a new born. That would be rough.
Just my $0.02 here - if you're under 30, don't do it yet. Wait until you're in your 40's or after you've reproduced however many times you think is enough.
KrustyKrabReject 5y ago
What about freezing sperm and then getting a vasectomy done. Cover all angles?
Zanford 5y ago
You could do that. The upsides are it prevents spermjacking, and you get 'younger' sperm should you ever choose to use them (vs jizzing in the girl at whatever age you are then).
Downsides are the IVF doesn't always take, and there isn't good research on whether it leads to an equally healthy baby (there might be adverse affects that more than 'cancel out't he younger sperm effect. We don't really know. It's a tough thing to study since you can't force people into an A/B experiment.) And it costs money.
moviemaker10 5y ago
I am 22 and had one done when I was 19 so... yes.
Bruchibre 5y ago
No.
MisterInspector 5y ago
No.
jbchillenindc 5y ago
Yes. I got one when I was 30. I've never wanted kids. No regrets.
10211799107 5y ago
Best decision of my life. Did it while having an LTR coz IDGAF. If you do it while young, store your sperm, it's cheap. You never know if you get hit with cancer one day if you wanna pay some surrogate from Ukraine to have yourself a baby.
Kalepsis 5y ago
If I wasn't already sterile, yes. In a heartbeat.
I'm 35.
Morphs_ 5y ago
For those who have done it, does it affect your libido or anything? Heard some stories about that.
drstrange74 5y ago
Nope, absolutely no difference in anything except you have a get out of jail free card. Also, it can often be reversed I believe.
mountainbiker178 5y ago
No difference
jbchillenindc 5y ago
Nope
temerity18 5y ago
It does. It makes you hornier. Because you know some parasite will not force you to finance her offspring.
The__Tren__Train 5y ago
haha shit
_Tactleneck_ 5y ago
Nope. Had it done 2 years ago. Only change is I can’t get someone pregnant. Best money I ever spent.
Morphs_ 5y ago
How much did it cost?
boredepression 5y ago
Outpatient, self pay, was $200 over 10yrs ago
neveragoodtime 5y ago
It was free under my medical insurance
_Tactleneck_ 5y ago
Insurance covered some, I think I paid maybe $250 out of pocket.
csawyer86 5y ago
I got one at 29 because I didn’t want anymore kids. Now I’m 32 and dating a single mom. Lol I’m stupid
The__Tren__Train 5y ago
well at least you can't knock her up.. that's the primary danger tbh
4thAndLong 5y ago
Single moms are plates at best.
