Far better suing them after winning the trial, or better yet getting them to drop the trial.
Because EVEN IF you win the trial it damages your reputation. Even if you escape all criminal penalties it can ruin your life.

Dude I can totally relate. Different health issues, but the end result of having to cancel plans is the same. For me its spine in juries and a few other things causing constant pain, that make me exhausted all the time no matter how much sleep I get.
I've been hanging on by a thread for a long time...

That's awesome and uplifting. I'm not in a wheelchair, though I've got damage to my spine and neck where even attempting a game of relaxing basketball with friends impossible. I can walk, with a cane. But often loose control of my entire body and collapse on the floor.

Yeah I've seen those "genetic lottery winners" from across the room a few times. Married to other people. I can sympathize with OP, and to a lesser extent his friend, just how badly a H0T woman can mess with a man's mind.
