For those of you that are religious, have you considered getting married at church without involving the government? How does that work in the US? Where I’m from in Europe you can do that and legally stay single, which removes the spouse’s capacity to take half of your stuff if you get divorced. I’m talking about states with no common law marriage. If my potential wife tells me she wants to get married, I’d totally be willing to have a priest wed us, but if she specifically wants to get the government involved then I know it’s a sham, and I don’t care about tax benefits or whatever
